Reviews for Palazzo Belmonte
Review 1:The overpowering scent of Febreze or laundry freshener they use. It is too much and unnecessary.
Review 2:Follow directions explicitly. We were lost a mile away for about an hour. Last turn is a sharp right and there is no sign.
Review 3:No tea or coffee making facilities in room despite saying so on website. A few more luxuries in room. Upgrade kitchen areas as worktop was chipped.
Review 4:Location
Review 5:The daily rates are too high considering the accommodations of the room. The price might be justified by the beautiful hotel premises but definitely not for the room and the breakfast which was only "OK".
Review 6:The vicinity of the beach and the village, the greenness and the calm of the hotel, the rooms are very clean and maintained as such everyday.
Review 7:Unfortunately, breakfast can be a little on the sparse side, with only a few items available even at quiet times.
Review 8:Best is the beautiful building and gardens , and this is equaled by the stunning surroundings in the pool area and an amazing , almost dream-like , gateway from the garden down some steps to the gorgeous beach. Which is always staffed by a life-guard. The hotel restaurant is situated on the beautiful cliff , and looks strait out over the sea - and is a real MUST.
Review 9:More a 3 stars hotel than a four stars. No wifi. Sea view from behind trees. Linens in poor conditions. Only one beach towel a day offered for free. No real chef to cook at restaurant. We had the worst pasta we ever had. No professionnal staff but only interns from Ukrainian or Polish hotel management schools. No turn down service. Pool not maintained, so we had our bathing ruined like the every other guests. They turned yellow after swimming in the pool. It looks like the prince do not want anyone staying in the old building. The manager try to install everyone in a newer part of the palazzo, called nicely "villas" with suites but they have no charm at all and do not look like the nice pictures of rooms you can see on the website. This hotel is a fraud.
Review 10:The park, the view, the village of Santa Maria di Castellabate
Review 11:Even though the rooms were very spacious, they are not renovated and they provide minimum amenities.
Review 12:The hotel is beautiful and on a great location - the rooms are super spacious and there is a private beach, which is a plus.
Review 13:The entrance is hard to find because they keep the gates locked The Wifi only works in the reception center
Review 14:We stayed in an ocean view room and love the large balcony The grounds are lovely Staff was very helpful with dinner recommendations and directions
Review 15:The noise from the American bar located a few yards from our room. A few instructions in the room on the layout of the breakfast terrace and other facilities would be useful. Also In case of fire instructions need to be put in the rooms.
Review 16:The palazzo being also a family home provided a special dimension. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The location was perfect near to the town but within an exclusive walled Mediterranean garden and with a private sandy beach. Breakfast on the Belvedere was perfect.
Review 17:Directions to the hotel were appalling and the signage of the hotelitself virtually invisible: we drove past it twice! On arrival we had towait a long time for attention by what seemed a solitary member ofstaff. Most serious shortfall was lack of honesty. We booked and paidfor a room with terrace and sea view. We got neither. When wecomplained, we were told that the manager was absent and nothing couldbe done by the receptionist. She promised to raise our complaint withthe manager on his return and assured us that he would contact us.Nothing further was heard. This hotel clearly has scant regard forintegrity or customer service. Avoid!
Review 18:Attractive old building and impressive grounds
Review 19:The property needs work on the general external aesthetics. We appreciate that this is a very large and old property - the project is a big one but some work needs doing to help the initial impact. We loved the grounds and gardens but clearly some pruning needs doing - again a big job. Perhaps open up the main entrance directly into town ?
Review 20:-The owner was around and greeted us in a very friendly manner. -Annan (spelling?), the receptionist was superb - flawless and an asset! -The room had everything we needed and had a tiny balcony with a sea view. -The feeling of being in an old stately home was wonderful.
Review 21:Mosquitos Food in area generally
Review 22:Location; gardens; peace and tranquility Space in room and unusual spacial arrangement. (Room would not suit physically disabled people - but probably would not be offered)
Review 23:hard to find hotel as no signage, room in old palazzo, room with very beautiful sea view on second floor with great view but no lift !
Review 24:helpful staff who showed us choice of rooms, loved our elegant room with beautiful seaview in the old slightly decaying palazzo rather than new accommodation, very peaceful, absolutely lovely gardens, pool and sandy beach, good food at dinner and breakfast, well worth visiting.
Review 25:For the price of the hotel (2,000 euros for 9 days for 2 people for bed and breakfast) I expected more. We arrived very early in the morning (1am) after a 2 hour drive from Naples. The Night porter welcomed us well, however when I asked if I could get a beer somewhere, I was directed out of the hotel into the town, as there was no lounge/bar at the hotel. The outdoor bar had no atmosphere and closed early - and, as there was no lounge, there was nowhere to return to after going out in the evening, except our bedroom. There was no seating in our bedroom (although plenty of room). When I asked for chairs to be brought in to our room, so we could rest and read a book or have a drink, a hard back dining chair and tub chair were brought in, not comfortable seating with a small table which would have been perfect. The "Private patio" was a small area next to the roadway, so not private and covered in dust whenever a car went past. The patio was poorly presented with aging paint and dirty walls. Bar (and breakfast area) was next to the sea, but foliage had been allowed to grow up, so no view of sea available. Although there was a sea view from the restaurant above the bar, again, if foliage was trimmed, more sea would be seen. The hotel was advertised as having free WiFi in rooms (which I needed for work), but on arrival was told the only place I could use it was in the courtyard. The seating area in the courtyard was unfriendly and not welcoming. With a bar, soft music, and moody lighting, it could be beautiful. Staff wandering around the pool offering drinks and coffees would have been appreciated. I found this a difficult review to write as it was a lovely place and we had a lovely holiday, but for the price, we were disappointed.
Review 26:Good location right next to a quietly bustling town with many good restaurants. Great size room. Excellent pool and private beach. Good food in restaurant, with lovely sea view. Great base for families as pool, beach and outdoor bar easily accessible and close. Fresh beach and pool towels available every day. Friendly staff.
Review 27:Needs more hands-on management and some TLC: a bit run-down and ragged at the edges. Italian staff generally very cheerful but other staff rather sullen. WiFi only at main building and v. slow. Prices are 5 star but service is 3 star.
Review 28:Historic building in its own park with fabulous tropical gardens leading down to sea and own section of beach. Segregated beach with sunshade and loungers and own lifeguard - great for kids. Shellfish and pasta at the Belvedere restaurant excellent; pricing very reasonable - plus a view to die for! Great sea view from chalet room.
Review 29:Santa Maria di Castellabate is a very peaceful town and fishing village on the Cilento coast. No fashion shopping just simple, delicious food peace and tranquillity. And in the heart of that tranquillity is the even more restful and beautiful Palazzo Belmonte. It can suit all-comers. It has quiet luxury rooms in the palazzo, "villa" rooms for families, a lovely swimming pool, steps to a private beach, charming staff, car parking, two hours from Naples airport, within easy reach of the wonders of the Cilento coast line and old towns and villages inland. Hire a car so you can explore.
Review 30:Rustic hotel with basic rooms without wifi or in some cases the option to have a shower. The cast iron beds creaked and worn mattresses were far from comfortable. The breakfast provided was limited and often swarming with flies.
Review 31:The grounds and pool were both lovely. Ideal location to get into town or onto the beach.
Review 32:Shower is hand held with no shower curtain so unsuitable for a beach location.
Review 33:Location is great and building very attractive
Review 34:Tried to charge us room rates for use of beach.
Review 35:Great location, quiet, easy access to beach.
Review 36:No crowds and no activities other than relaxing and swimming. Definitely not for those looking for nightlife, bars etc.
Review 37:Poor wifi Poor bathroom ( no shower) Poor decoration
Review 38:Nature Beach
Review 39:Problem with the hot water system.
Review 40:The staff dealt with the hot water problem swiftly and efficiently
Review 41:Evening dinner a bit dear Sloping roof in room
Review 42:Beautiful building right on beach Good breakfast nice staff
Review 43:Could have background music playing @ breakfast, too quiet, guests whispering. Signage where breakfast room is situated, we still got lost after receiving instructions on where it was.
Review 44:Everything
Review 45:Duplex room, spacious but very basic, especially the bathroom which was definitely sub standard and not fitting of a 4 star hotel. Whole room in need of renovation and repairs. Would prefer Italian waiting staff who understand what an aperitivo and a Bellini is!!!!
Review 46:A very special place and tranquil oasis. Wonderful location with all amenities on hand. Loved the grandiose property, gardens and beach. Appreciated the one night's upgrade to a fabulous suite.
Review 47:Would have expected much more warmth from the reception staff and certainly more practical information, e.g. on how to find breakfast in this large and complex building!
Review 48:Bedroom was superbly and thoughfully fitted, combined with style and elegance. Wonderful pool plus, a few steps away, a perfect sandy beach laid out with comfortable chairs and sunshades.
Review 49:There were minor problems with the wifi system, but staff responded immediately.
Review 50:True elegance right on the beach. Everyone was extremely helpful. Quiet lovely place. Gardens are spectacular.
Review 51:There really was nothing to dislike.
Review 52:Beautiful courtyard and gardens. Amazing cliff-top restaurantoverlooking the bay. Lovely polite friendly staff. Beautiful sandy beach(with lifeguard) We booked for next year before we left :-))
Review 53:We loved the private beach area, the pool and the beach bar. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were sad to leave!
Review 54:There is nothing not to like, in my opinion, and i can't wait to return! My only disappointment was that the al fresco restaurant (Belvedere) serving evening meals does not open until the end of June (due to unpredictable weather).Having eaten there on previous visits it is the most special and romantic setting you could wish for, set up high in the hotel grounds, it overlooks the sea and has the most spectacular sunsets ever, but hopefully next time....
Review 55:The hotel is very, very peaceful & relaxing. You are only aware of other guests at breakfast, or around the pool occasionally. it is set in it's own private grounds and has a feeling of being in your own little sanctuary! You walk straight out of the walled garden and you are on right on the beach. The staff are all excellent, management, waiting on staff, cleaning staff, maintenance & the gentleman who looks after the private beach area, all will accommodate any request, if they can. The on-site parking is very convenient. The position of the hotel is perfect for accessibility to the many good restaurants & shops of Santa Maria. The Palazzo's private beach space is right next to the best bar bistro ever (Lido Azzurro), just perfect for long, lazy lunches overlooking the the beautiful sea and coastline of Cilento.
Review 56:Not much can be done about it but the beach towel reservation thing is very annoying. People who didn't come to the beach for the whole morning reserved beds with their towels. otherwise we LOVED our stay.
Review 57:The laid back discrete vibe. Beautiful gardens both by day and night. Tranquil cool room. Delicious pasta dishes at lunch. Being able to share what is essentially a family estate. Not being bombarded with information/offers/trips ect.. Very unlike other more traditional hotels. Toufik, the top man was exceptionally helpful and friendly, without being at all over friendly. Our first time away for a whole week alone without our now grown-up daughters. Bliss. We were booked to stay 6 nights and then move on to the Amalfi coast - but couldn't bare to leave so stayed 2 more nights.
Review 58:Beautiful location, lovely local town for shopping and eating out. Friendly staff, good food, very relaxing and would definitely go back.
