Reviews for Krimuldas Muiža

Review 1:There was no kitchen, but I received teapot. Only one cafe/food-shop near the hostel

Review 2:Very, very friendly and hospitable staff. A beautiful old house. It was amazing! Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Good location in park.

Review 3:As mentioned before finding the property is not that straight forward. You wouldn't think but that 19th century manor IS your place indeed. Ring the bell for rhe staff.

Review 4:The location is an essential point at this property. It is beautiful, at top of a hill but way out of town. If you have a bike it's easier but the serpentine up the hill is a muscle killer. No shops or anything in the area, pure nature and beautiful garden is what you have.

Review 5:Location, last bus or that tram over from Sigulda leaves at 18:30 so after that there is no place to eat. Its really quite maybe not a place for backpacker.

Review 6:Beautiful place and nice staff

Review 7:The manor is a bit old and damaged and can be a bit gloomy at night. In the bathroom of the double bedroom, there was no shower curtain and it was hard not to spill water everywhere.

Review 8:The situation is great, in the midlle of the forest and close to the cable car station to go to Sigulda. A lot of hike trails around. The people are very nice and helpful. The manor is quite impessive, on the edge of the cliff.

Review 9:Bit of a trek from central Sigulda, no proper WiFi, buildings need repairs

Review 10:Beautiful peaceful location, loads to do in Sigulda, cheap price and comfortable beds, staff very friendly

Review 11:This is not a super luxury hotel, you need to set an unusual, beautiful hostel.

Review 12:Overnight in a beautiful palace. We live where others want to see;) Spirits was not there, or I did not hear;)Wifi, snack bar and shop in the building next door.

Review 13:-The mansion is also a rehabilitation center so, especially outside of the main season, you could end up alone inside what is a rather dark, deserted place. Definitely not the best atmosphere -The main door is locked at 8 PM and, if you arrive late or leave early, you have to get a hold of the administrator in order to enter/leave the building.

Review 14:-New, very clean bathroom -A cheap and rather unique stay in a beautiful location. Overall, an OK place to spend a night in, if you are immune to the rather pessimistic surroundings.

Review 15:Although there was wifi in the building, it's only at a particular corner located at the far end of the corridor away from the rooms. So you cant get any wifi connection if youre in the rooms. The location is pretty deserted in the middle of the national park and by a quiet village. We visited in fall, where there was pretty thick fog, so heading back after dinner when the sun has already set was quite a Halloween-themed experience! We wish there there more lights around to guide us back.. The reception isnt 24 hours because it isnt a full-time hostel/accommodation. During the weekends, there's almost no-one around, maybe except 1 or 2 cleaning staff whom we didnt get to see. Maybe it was the season of Fall..

Review 16:I really liked the lady staff who helped us check in. She was really warm helpful and friendly. The rooms were really clean, cosy and warm as well. Toilets were pretty decent too, with nice warm water and clean. Bus timings out to Sigulda were pretty regular for our purposes. Located near Milly's, a cosy cafe serving really nice homemade meals :)

Review 17:amazing place to stay. i was the only guest in the entire mansion... such an excellent experience.. the cafe next door wow amazing meals for 3 euro.. one of the best things i have done in europe

Review 18:I've never stayed at a mansion before! It's a good base for hiking in the beautiful forests, and along the Gauja river. The café offers simple meals and some basic shopping with surprisingly low prices.

Review 19:Location in a picturesque and quiet place, fresh air, spacious room, impeccable linens, all in a past time atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Thank you very much ''Granny''!

Review 20:when you go for breakfast in the café nearby you can either get the friendly staff, or the I-was-here-in-soviet-times-and-I-dont-like-your-business type.. but still part of the experience ;-)

Review 21:It's a quaint special place that is part rehabilition center for kids, and part hotel. cableway next to the hotel. nice atmosphere about the place. we had one of the few rooms in the mansion itself, nice soviet 50's furniture! lovely place! wifi is only in café nextdoor but works fast.

Review 22:The room was very hot as it was made up primarily of glass hence greenhouse like. I didn't like leaving door open as there where a lot of visitors who wandered by

Review 23:Beautiful surroundings. Arriving by cable car was quite unique

Review 24:Only one shop. It works from 9 am till 6 pm. So if you need smth to buy after 6 pm you should go to Sigulda. Only one cafe where you can only have a breakfast.no dinner , no supper. And no facilities to cook.with children it is impossible

Review 25:The nature. It's good for scauts camp or for people who stay in this reabilitation centre for treatment.

Review 26:Krimuldas Muiža is as lovely as always! This was our second time there and we loved it as much as the first time. The surroundings are absolutely breathtaking and the room feels like you transported back in time to 1800's. The coffeeplace in the next building also seems to have gotten an upgrade, theres wifi and food. Everything is perfect with this place!

Review 27:Really drafty and cold, largely they put us in the "summer cottages," (large rooms with 8+ beds) which includes an entire wall that's half window and half planks that let plenty of sunlight and air through the cracks, which meant that the room got really cold at night. Fortunately, we were able to borrow the old blankets from the empty beds so that we could actually sleep instead of being too cold, since there's no climate control (being a summer cottage and all). The lack of insulation (and the cracks) also meant that any time anyone walked, talked, mowed, smoked, or so much as made any noise outside, we heard (and smelled) everything. Our booking was not for the summer cottage, but for smaller rooms in the main building.

Review 28:Nice location at the top of the Serpentine Trail, near castle ruins, and in the national forest. Close enough to both the air tram and a bus stop, so transportation was easy enough. Bathrooms were clean and the area seemed safe enough. All things considered, it was cheap enough and scenic. I'd recommend it conditionally, only when the weather's really, really, really nice.

Review 29:The friendly staff speaks only Latvian and Russian. The café has a limited menu and closes early, so no dinner available in the premises.

Review 30:This place must be taken as an interesting experience. Good base for visiting the Sigulda area castles and museums. Magnificient views to the river valley and the cable car station is near-by.

Review 31:poor availability by foot

Review 32:amazing place, friendly staff (English speaking), beautiful location in the middle of forests, kettle in the room

Review 33:The hotel doesn't have all the facilities of a hotel.

Review 34:Sleeping in a palace for a very affordable price.

Review 35:Well, feels like a renovation would be good.

Review 36:The beds we slept in were very comfortable, the place was quiet, we enjoyed it.

Review 37:The place is beautiful. The women at the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly. The place feels like a step back into a different era.

Review 38:Bed.

Review 39:Nice staff, location out of the city but still a great place and 100m from the cable car.

Review 40:Shpuld have avsilable water fountain 24 7

Review 41:The grounds, manor house,fatm,nature,staff,forest,....all amsxi g

Review 42:Wonderful and helpful staff. Very beautiful place.

Review 43:Interior are old-fashioned, No wi-fi in rooms, some furniture (tv table) is missing.

Review 44:Location, outdoors, price is excellent.

Review 45:Nice peaceful place with creat view. Room was cozy and spacious (Charlotte room). Friendly and helpfull personnel.

Review 46:Even the drawbacks were amazing! the lady only speaks russian and letonian, I was completly alone in the palace during the night, there was no internet... but that was great too! :D

Review 47:It was the most genuine experience I had in all my Baltic Trip!

Review 48:no facilities whatsoever (you need to take food) but the staff who are only there from 9-5 gave me a kettle and cup. the place needs doing up but you only visit for a short time

Review 49:the area was great very peaceful and in the middle of now-where

Review 50:A very unique and spacious location! As the only guests, we spent our night in a real mansion and paid only a few lats. Absolutely recommendable, even if a more conventional accommodation may provide more facilities.

Review 51:The building is absolutely lovely! And the staff, although they speak very little english is really nice. The room was spectacular. It felt like being in a high class luxury hotel. The view from the window is straight to the manor garden. There is also a small cafe and the shop just next to the hotel. And the Hotel itself is located in a breath taking nature reserve with lots to do and see. I would highly recommend it!

Review 52:Castle needs total refurbishment... It is a pity that this historical place is in such condition...

Review 53:Premises, location fantastic...

Review 54:No restaurant around

Review 55:The room is very large, the bathroom also.

Review 56:Fare from places to eat.

Review 57:Historical buildings,views

Review 58:No housekeeping services. One set of towels for 3 nights and one-half roll of toilet paper :(

Review 59:Spacious room and bath. Modest price.
