Reviews for Hotel Kifu Club Shiretoko

Review 1:The staff were exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful. the outside hot spring tubs were great. The meals were extensive and delicious. The location was perfect as a gateway to the Shiretoko National Park and the boat tours. There were wonderful views of the sunsets and the sea from the room.

Review 2:That we couldn't stay longer.

Review 3:Everything! Friendly, helpful hosts. Special consideration given to me with relation to my food allergy. Going to sleep with the sound of the sea.

Review 4:Great place with a great view (you get a unblocked view of the sun set over the Sea of Okhotsk). The breakfast and dinner was fantastic as well. Great for families or couples.

Review 5:Rooms didn't have shampoo or hair dryer, though they were provided by the staff when asked.

Review 6:It's a family run hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The daughter speaks very good English, which was quite a relief in Japan. Dinners were excellent, beautifully arranged. Half way through dinner, staff came with a smile and told us it was sunset time. We simply stepped out and the splendid sunset-on-the-sea was right in front of us. Loved this hotel! !

Review 7:Fantastic family run hotel with the most friendly staff. Came here on my honeymoon and it sure didn't dissapoint. Gourmet meals for breakfast and dinner included. Private outdoor onsen available for booking at no additional cost!

Review 8:We had traditional Japanese dinners and breakfasts during our stay at Hotel Kifu Club, and the food was both delicious and beautifully presented. We particularly enjoyed the variety of fresh local seafood. Our hostess Ayako was very helpful and charming, and the inn had an understated but very friendly vibe. Highly recommended if you are staying on the Shiretoko Peninsula.

Review 9:We have spent 3 nights here with half board and had different variety of fresh & delicious Hokkaido food especially seafood. We have tried their uniquely prepared self tempura. This looks like a family-run hotel with friendly owners and English speaking daughter and son in law. We definitely will stay here if visit Shiretoko again in future.

Review 10:The ryokan is in Utoro, not Shari, right opposite the Okhotsk Sea and very close to Shireteko National Park. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Very cosy, family run- some English spoken.

Review 11:Sleeping on the tatami and the futon took some getting used to, but was a great experience.

Review 12:This traditional Japanese guesthouse was amazing. My room overlooked the Sea of Okhotsk and the owners were very kind and welcoming. The natural hot spring was a real highlight, where I was able to watch the stars and hear the waves of the ocean. The dinner and breakfast was fantastic and prepared with precision. I am definitely going back.

Review 13:If I have to find something bad, the beds were a bit hard.

Review 14:Dinner and breakfast were incredibly good. They were both submitted in atraditional Japanese setting. Dinner included, among others, tempuraprepared by ourselves directly on the table. The location is fantastic, directly in front of the ocean. All rooms have an ocean view, and sunsetis incredible! The ryokan staff (which I believe is the owner familyitself) is very friendly and helpful. The Ryokan architecture is verybeautiful (unlike most other ryokans). A free outdoor private bath withocean view is also available.

Review 15:The futons are a little thin for foreigners but I never asked for additional futons. The road which runs in front of the hotel is a little noisy and traffic starts very early in the morning. Our room did smell of cigarette smoke which could be remedied.

Review 16:We did not have a car but the owners of Hotel Kifu Club were more than happy to take us to and from the bus station and other tourist locations. The food was the best and beautifully presented. The owners were delightful. I would stay there again despite the minor things I did not like.

Review 17:The ventilation system of the bathroom does not work that well. It feels damp.

Review 18:Dinner was excellent. They provided various Japanese dishes with local ingredients. Fresh seafood and vegetables were used. Cook-it-yourself tempura was fun and delicious. Beautiful woody hotel building; Japanese style room; clean; with nice ocean view. Free wifi but the speed is not that good. However, the host had gave us a warning ahead of time. He is being honest and we really appreciated it. The hot bath was great especially after the freezing boat ride. Hosts are very friendly.

Review 19:It is a small hotel but it is very unique. I love their dinner. It is really wonderful. We stayed for 3 days 2 night and the food variety in breakfast and dinner are not repeated. I believe special effort has been put in to ensure their guests have good dining experience.

Review 29:Slightly costy

Review 30:Thier private onsen and food.

Review 31:Public bath; the private bath may be better (?)

Review 32:Location: close to Shiretoko Natural Ctr/entrance to 5-Lakes trail; facing the sea; family-run makes it feel homely

Review 33:- a little bit high price

Review 34:+ food is excellent + helpful staffs and nice owner + clean + amazing view just in front of the hotel

Review 35:The onsen is rather disappointing, especially the private bath. At the price charged this is not acceptable.

Review 36:The view from the hotel. The owners are friendly and helpful.

Review 37:We liked mostly everything. The only thing I would like to mention for other travelers, is that if you are fond of fruits, and milk products you should bring them with you. The breakfast and dinner mostly comprise of fish, sea food, vegetables. Though it was absolutely fantastic to eat, after two days, we were craving for some fresh fruits :)

Review 38:Great ryokan experience; excellent food; very nice owners who are not only professional but also kind and caring (the owner even found a pack of crayons for our baby to color :); spacious and clean room; free wi-fi; good access to main attraction and nature. We will definitely come back again!

Review 39:Room with a great view; the fantastic breakfast and dinner (the best and freshest salmon sashimi ever...); the onsen and the very friendly staff with excellent english skills. We can highly recommend this small and charming family-run hotel!!
