Reviews for Asahikawa Grand Hotel

Review 1:Weekday drive during commute time... Adds about 25 extra minutes

Review 2:the Kurodake ropeway was down for maintenance, so we had to change our reservations last minute. we were not excited to stay at a city hotel.... However staff were awesome, parking available, walking distance to tons of food options and fantastic breakfast. Plus 40 min to Kamui, an hour to Ashidake and 1.5 to Furano ... So good proximity if you want to ski multiple locations

Review 3:The hotel is excellent. Good location, friendly staff, clean/comfy rooms and wonderful environment. Staffs able to speak English well. Good Wifi signal in each rooms. I will definitely stay in the hotel if I am back in Asahikawa again. Thumbs up for Asahikawa Grand Hotel.

Review 4:Location wise is alright provided you are driving. If you don't, you can walk to the train station and it should take about 15 to 20 mins. However if it is raining or snowing, you will be caught in the rain. The hotel doesn't have a coin laundry service. The nearest laundry service is next block away.

Review 5:The room was decent and big enough for my family of 5 (3 children). The restaurant in the lobby does serve some good food ;)

Review 6:Very enjoyable stay here. We didn't mind the 10 min stroll to the JR station/shopping center. The city looked lovely with all the lights in the trees so the walk was enjoyable. Food was good also.

Review 7:I did not stay long enough to experience any negativity. Overall i am happy.

Review 8:4beds for 4pax. Ample space for everyone. The buffet spread for breakfast was good too! Staff can speak english and mandarin. Great for non-jap speaking tourist like me.

Review 9:The spa is not for free, but they offer special price for hotel guest which is quite cheap.

Review 10:Breakfast is very good, Western and Japanese food with good quality. They offer Salmon Roe with rice as all you can eat!! Very close to the main walking street, walking distance.

Review 11:Very good breakfast and very friendly / helpful staff. See many children in the restaurant for breakfast with good facilities for the kids. Like it!

Review 12:None

Review 13:My son was given a set of children slipper and toothbrush upon check in, right at the reception. That's very thoughtful. The concierge and car park attendant is very helpful too.

Review 14:The room is a bit pricey but yet Breakfast is not included. Would be great if the hotel could provide baby bath tub and baby soap.

Review 15:Location is great! Hotel staff are friendly and spacious room. Nice bakery and souvenir shop at the lobby for the convenience of guest.

Review 16:Hotel is grand with several good restaurants serving western and Japanese cuisine. Proximity to Asahikawa JR station is good - there are shopping and food there as well

Review 17:Tiny hotel rooms, of the same type and size you would find in a business hotel a fraction of the price

Review 18:Great location, several food options in the hotel (as well as outside), great staff

Review 19:We paid for the breakfast service. It's buffet style but they don't refill the food quick enough. Most of the food carts were empty. We waited for 20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was empty but they only got 2 waiters to serve the whole restaurant.

Review 20:The hotel is great. A bit far away from JR station but close to shopping street. The room is very comfortable. The public spa is paid service but it is nice.

Review 21:Had another friend who took a twin room and found that our double room was smaller than their twin room. Would be better if staff there are English speaking staff.

Review 22:Location was good, convenient to shopping and eatery district.

Review 23:The bed was a little noisy.

Review 24:The room was cosy and clean. In addition, breakfast was sumptuous as it was buffet style. There was a good variety of food to choose from.

Review 25:hotel lobby is filled with tobacco smells.

Review 26:very attentive staff. they have prepared gifts for kids and made their day. every service staff is friendly. clean hotel and grand.

Review 27:little far from JR station around 7-10mins walk.

Review 28:We stayed Sapporo Grand Hotel as well. I like this one better because the bed is more comfortable. But all services are same as all Grand Hotels. The foreign currency rate was the best when we stayed in Hokkaido.

Review 29:Staff could speack just a little of English. Moquet and wc a little dated

Review 30:Maybe just a little dated but it is always a Grand Hotel (really). Very very good the quality of the food in the breakfast buffet. 10 minutes walh from JR station

Review 31:A bit far from JR Asahikawa station - about 10 mins walk

Review 32:Close to the airport bus stop; it is right in front of the hotel Efficient and helpful front desk staff

Review 33:Very small room which price is high and breakfast is no good especially Japanese food.Bad service of front desk they are not care the guest.Booking 2 beds they gave one bed they are not exchange they did not do as booking.Very bad service I and my friend do not recommend to this hotel.

Review 35:The concierge on duty that evening gave us good recommendation of dining option, her english was very good. Breakfast was Japanese or American, selection was good.

Review 36:Nothing to complain about.

Review 37:Going to interesting eating places many of which are within walking distance. The hotel staff were very obliging and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 38:The Hotel foyer hooked us immediately from the moment we arrived. It was spacious, sumptuous and had an art deco/British Hotel of older times feel. The staff generally had very good English and were very helpful at all times. The hotel reservation staff were well equipped with useful information and maps and went our of their way to assist us in finding and booking a restaurant .The rooms were comfortable and warm and clean. Sleepwear was provided along with the usual amenities. The breakfast was fabulous for our large group of 7 and provided terrific variety of western and Japanese food. The trip to the famous Asahikawa Zoo by bus was well signposted and information was provided to us prior departure. We will definitely return. The only nice addition would have been some English breakfast Tea or the like in the rooms with a jug of milk or available upon request.

Review 39:. Having to leave

Review 40:A throwback to a grand hotel style. Unbelievably helpful staff. Best possible location. great for tatty kiwi old persons skiers like us. Book early for prices that are lower than a standard new zealand motel.

Review 41:Room a bit warm - even with air con turned right down. Only found out about airport bus stop by seeing it on a map - concierge and reception staff did not mention it when someone else in our group asked about transport to airport.

Review 42:Walking distance to shopping and restaurant district. Bus to airport has a stop beside hotel. Bus to zoo has a stop two blocks away. Ritzy looking place with fancy cocktail bar on 17th floor - amazing views.

Review 43:An easy 15mins walk from the JR station, small room but with the bed directly facing the window with an awesome night view. Very comfortable bed - wish we stayed more than one night!

Review 44:all good apart from one thing. The outside teampature was 8 - 15 degree during my visit. Hotel turn off the air con and they use centralized heater. I don't have window in my room. The room was too warm and I cant even breath well in the day time. I asked hotel can they help me to turn off my room heat which the answer was no. all other thing is good.

Review 47:Rather cold/aloof service, I guess we have now accustomed to the excellent service in Japan that anything that is not perfect is no longer acceptable.

Review 48:Walking distance - almost 1km to JR station. Decent size room, there were 3 of us and it was adequate size.

Review 49:The room is very clean and fresh with facility upgraded. It's chinese restaurant provides genuine Chinese food with reasonable price. Good location near the shopping street.

Review 50:The lobby has odor (cigarette?) and the room needs a bit refurbish, small television, value for money was low.

Review 51:super market was walkable and near the shopping street

Review 52:Public bath facility is not free and will cost 1,000 yen. Still it's worth it I think. Would be nice to make it free to guests at hotel though.

Review 53:Nice room and bed with attention to details. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and offers a lot of variety (they even offer coffee-on-the-go!). Public bath facility includes massage area (cost extra), nice clean big locker room with a lounge that serves drinks and light meals, also various pools with different temperatures. Wifi here's not just available, but actually fast! Overall staff service is very consistent and courteous. If we ever come to Asahikawa again definitely the place to visit.
