Reviews for Licuala Lodge

Review 1:Very good comfortable accommodation in convenient location. Excellent garden and nice swimming pool, very good breakfast and attentive owners. Good access to local wildlife and beach.

Review 2:Exceptionally helpful and friendly service. They knew lots about the Daintree and good things to go and see locally. Took their advice and we saw fantastic wild life and beautiful sunrises. Good food and great companionship with other guests at dinner too.

Review 3:This was a delightful b&b set in glorious gardens with wonderful birdlife, including the cassowary and chicks!! Hosts very pleasant and a wonderful breakfast enjoyed on a lovely verandah. Could not have had better and thoroughly recommend.

Review 4:There wasn't anything we didn't like about Licuala Lodge. We did, however, find Mission Beach a little bit too quiet for us.

Review 5:We loved the homely feeling that we got during our stay. It is so well looked after and a lot of care is taken with the accommodation. Sue and Mick are lovely hosts - breakfasts and gardens are fab!

Review 6:Large group of people sitting And talking outside our room on arrival and until 10pm. Difficult to relax in what would have been a beautiful setting on a nice verandah. Owner very helpful but a bit pushy.

Review 7:Large room with verandah

Review 8:What a gorgeous place to stay, fabulous pool, the best breakfasts, lovely hosts Mick & Sue, is as close to paradise you will get( my opinion) very relaxing we will definately return

Review 9:there was nothing I didn't like, however parking in the first room was a little short

Review 10:pool was great with the walk in section instead of climbing down into the pool The rooms were excellent and having the 2 rooms were a nice change the cassowary that came to visit

Review 11:No air conditioning. We feel it's a must have in North Queensland in the summer months. The bed was too hard. The guest lounge had no fans or air conditioning, and no air flow.

Review 12:We loved the beautiful gardens, the peace and quiet, the pool and the breakfast. The hosts are lovely and the home made breakfasts were delicious!

Review 13:No duct air conditioning in bedroom meant it was warm during the night. We did have 2 fans to keep the temperature down, which made it manageable. This is the only small negative on an otherwise wonderful stay.

Review 14:Fantastic and large breakfast Attentive hosts Intreiging cassowary interactions Helpful advice on the local area Nice warm swimming pool

Review 15:The bed wasn't long enough to accommodate the height of a taller person. No air conditioning.

Review 16:We loved the breakfast as so much of it was home made or home grown. Loved the charm and characteristics of the highset old Queenslander and we had heaps of room. The gardens were lovely, the pool divine, and the owners friendly and very helpful.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:The gardens were beautiful and the hospitality was first class. Breakfast was out of this world and the host could not do more to help. Strongly recommended for anyone wanting accommodation in the area. Fantastic added bonus of seeing a Cassowary in the garden.

Review 19:Bad morning smells in the bathroom.

Review 20:Great rainforest location. Heaps of cassowary encounters. Quiet. Nice pool. Close to beach and facilities. An amazing breakfast is included.

Review 21:There were a lot of stairs leading up to the rooms which would not be suitable for elderly people.

Review 22:The setting of the lodge was ideal - surrounded by lovely gardens and bushland. The pool was great. The hosts were friendly and supplied a superb breakfast as well as an attention to detail with many things. It was fun to be able to see a cassowary up close and feed it a banana.

Review 23:The rooms are quite small and not very well sound proofed, so if privacy is a requirement, this could prove to be a problem.

Review 24:Sharing a sumptuous home cooked breakfast with other guests in a wonderful tropical atmosphere was in a word 'special'. We got to know some wonderful people from other countries that under normal travel circumstances, we would never have spoken to.

Review 25:Stay here for 1night on way north.. Only problem I had was I couldn't spend another night. Gardens were beautiful. Owners were lovely & very helpful. Had great access to living room, TV, kitchen. Room was spotless!

Review 26:thinking .. well nothing really

Review 27:Great hosts! Lovely setting! .. and as many people have said the best breakfast in Aus - eaten in a serene environment on the beautiful relaxed 1st floor balcony of the owners home with the owners something to remember oh and the crocodile warning on the pool lol

Review 28:A bit squeazy in units. If your neighbours with shared walls are at all noisy, you hear them clearly.

Review 29:Spectacular garden surrounds Drop-in cassowary most days Pleasant functional room with shared veranda Shared lounge with dining facilities under main house quite spacious. Access to washing machine Close-ish to Wongaling Beach, drive to Mission Beach. Good breakfast with fruit, yoghurt and cooked options if you want.

Review 55:Mick and Sue were the best hosts! Helpful in every way! It was a home away from home, except that their breakfast was far better than that! Ever since our stay my husband has been on the (hopeless) search of such heavenly passion fruits!;-) Mick and Sue had an answer to every even so silly question or problem. We followed their advice to slow down and thus finally got to really enjoy our holiday! Thanks!

Review 56:Great welcome Fantastic pool Lovely tropical landscaped garden Wonderful breakfast Good location close to beaches, rainforest and wildlife and Bruce Highway

Review 57:20mins of free internet would have been nice.

Review 58:Very nice breakfast. China cups Homemade produce. Mick gave us a bag of passion fruit when we left which were lovely! Saw the Cassowary and chick. They Booked our trip on Bigmama which rounded our few days at mission beach nicely.

Review 59:All accommodation is upstairs so you need to consider this if stairs are a problem. You have to descend from one building and then climb more stairs to the main building for breakfast. There is a linking bridge between the 2 buildings but is restricted to staff only. No TV or radio . Rooms very small but spotlessly clean.

Review 60:Situated in a pretty garden. Great pool. Charming hosts who made you Excellent breakfast. Good value for money

Review 61:- no TV - haven't had the luck to see the garden cassowary

Review 62:- really lovely garden and surroundings, owner puts a lot of work in it - great breakfast - saw wallabies in the garden

Review 63:We are older travelling companions.. The steps are rather high when you have several things to bring up from the car. Help was offered by the owner however.

Review 64:The bushland pool, though small, was very pleasant for a cooling swim. The facilities for cooking, barbequing etc. in the guest lounge were excellent. Great opportunity for socialising with other guests as was the excellent breakfast with some international travellers.

Review 65:Hope you will be lucky and meet the garden cassowary!

Review 66:Delicious homemade breakfast in the morning! A lovely place chosen by kangaroos at night! A funny and confortable lodge: you feel at home.

Review 67:Although I did not have time to swim in it, the pool and surrounding gardens were beautiful. The lodge was visited by a cassowary bird and there was other abundant bird life. Full english breakfast was generous and to order.

Review 70:the best fresh organic home cooked breakfast with a setting on the verandah to die for. the willingness of owner mick to collect us and our luggage (we came by bike and bus) was much appreciated. we truly loved our 2 nights at the lodge. WE WILL BE BACK!

Review 71:Just a piece of paradise inside the paradise of Mission Beach. Its impossible to find a better accomodation. Its a place wich is worth to visit even if you are not going to stay in it. Stunning houses and rooms. absolutely friendly staff. After 4 weeks in Australia, this is by far the best accomodation we have found. A superb breakfast. A must-go.

Review 75:Breakfast was great value Rooms very clean Managers very good Pool area and gardens awesome

Review 76:Mick & Sue were so welcoming, friendly, & informative as well as helpful in booking our adventure plans. The lodging is set in such a beautiful setting & away from road noise. The breakfast spread is amazing & their were even choices for the hot entrée, which was prepared to our specifications & dietary requirements. The 2nd morning of our stay we needed to leave very early & Sue & Mick made up a breakfast-to-go, which was outrageous. Because of the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, we enjoyed out interactions with the other guests. Sue & Mick, wish we could have stayed longer.
