Reviews for Hotel Milano Scala
Review 1:We asked for a cup of tea at 11:00 pm because we were not feeling very well(as we explained on the phone) but both room service and the reception denied bringing anything to the room. We had to go and get some tea ourselves and we were charged for it eventhough we had kettle in the room. Also, despite the fact that our early check-in request was confirmed 2 weeks prior to our arrival, we had to wait for 2 hours before we could get our room.
Review 2:Location
Review 3:breakfast not on proposed stars level - old pastry, not so good fresh fruits, not so good coffee; no room service after 10:30 pm; dirty bath; one towel per person only
Review 4:hotel interior furniture, very kind staff, very nice and useful locality directly in the city center
Review 5:Double classic room was a very small one.
Review 6:Very helpful, attentive and friendly staff; spotless clean rooms and public areas, attention to small details; excellent location, nice breakfast
Review 7:Waiters on the breakfast were a little bit unfriendly. May be because was Monday)) Hard day))
Review 8:Very friendly employees on the desk. I got room number on the 7th floor (garden and terrace) and it was amazing room with balcony and beautiful view. Comfortable bad and quit room.
Review 9:The only specific glitch was the shower: a relatively uncomfortable wall to get into the tub and the rain shower sprinkling all over the bathroom.
Review 10:Excellent location; impeccable service; good value as it came with wifi and breakfast included in the room rate; spacious and comfortable room.
Review 11:My only comment would be the inability to control the rm at night. It got a little too warm for our personal taste
Review 12:Location was perfect; it was short taxi ride from Linate airport. We were able to walk to the Duomo, castle, the Last Supper, fashion stores and so many of the wonderful restaurants. Breakfast included offered a great selection and so convenient. The staff was very pleasant, accommodating as well as informative.
Review 13:Value for money No housekeeping after 9pm Bedding and bedsheets medium compared to same std in good Italian hotels - design furniture getting older
Review 14:Location & kind staff
Review 15:Location was very convenient and the staff at the front desk was very friendly! Breakfast was delicious, especially the salami, and it was wonderful to hear live music from a harp.
Review 16:The first room we stayed in had a fairly serious mold issue in the bathroom; we asked to move an the subsequent room did not have the same issues.
Review 17:The location was excellent. The rooms and the common areas were very attractive. Excellent breakfast. The in-house restaurant was also excellent.
Review 18:We liked everything
Review 19:Very central position, walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Very friendly , capable and helpful Staff. Delicious food in the restaurant, lovely view from the terrace. Very good buffet breakfast.
Review 20:Lots of pricier hotels in this area. I stayed at one on the last leg of my trip and wished I was back here. The front desk was more accommodating here! Hands down best breakfast spread! And it was included!!!!
Review 21:I loked it all - but thought that I could have made do with a little less excellence and slightly lower cost for the stay!
Review 22:Loved the live harpe music for breakfast - that was an unexpected and very nice surprise
Review 23:overpriced for quite average decor. not very comforable, suite at 720 euros a night way too small
Review 24:Staff friendly and helpful, fabulous central location
Review 25:One of the reasons for choosing this hotel was the michelin listing. No-one had told us that the restaurant was on a severely restricted menu as the chef was on holiday. I anticipate a slightly higher price with the listing. I have yet to receive a discount when the service is not offered! And even an expression of regret would have helped.
Review 26:Location was superb and the breakfast was good. Really enjoyed soft live music at breakfast.
Review 27:Leisure trip • Couple • 2 rooms • Stayed 3 nights • Submitted from a mobile device Milan is very pricey in the Centro + this hotel is no exception. Rooms are not very big but that's to be expected if you want to stay this close to all the best attractions.
Review 28:Great location. We picked this hotel because we had La Scala opera tickets + this was a perfect location for that + the Duomo. Being on the edge of La Brera was also a bonus for restaurants. Hotel also had a small private garage across the street for the usual additional charges. The breakfast was very good+ the hotel concierge during the day was very helpful with suggestions.
Review 29:very pleasant hotel. we felt at home and were very pleases with the advises given by a special member of the staff(Riva) as where and when to go in Milan
Review 30:- The price for the room is inadequate. - The room was very small and dark.
Review 31:+ Location is great. No need for public transport at all as everything is walking distance. + Staff is very friendly and helpful. + Nice breakfast
Review 32:No Complaints.
Review 33:Wonderful décor portraying ballet theatre and opera. Nice room on the 7th floor with a generous balcony at the front of the building. Just 2 blocks from the fantastic Duomo and a short walk to the castle in the opposite direction. Opera house nearby.
Review 34:Bed room area was small but I was happy the bathroom was nice size.
Review 35:Close to Metro lines and the Milan town square - quiet area - rooms were clean and service very nice. Nice little balcony / fire escape off back of our room. Getting a taxi was a snap - front desk would punch in a request and hand you a ticket with the taxi number and how many minutes before they arrive.
Review 36:The gorgeous roof terrace overlooking Milans rooftops and the herb and flower garden are beautiful. The staff were also excellent and the location is first class. Don't miss the buffet breakfast it was great.
Review 37:The rooms are very small... There is not even sufficient space to open your luggage!
Review 38:The staff were fabulous! Excellent service at every stage... front desk, concierge, bar, restaurant and house keeping. The rooms with the balcony are beautiful. Above all perfect location!
Review 39:I was travelling with my parents and I had to sleep on a fold out bed which hurt my neck
Review 40:the best breakfast I had in all of Europe, the staff and facilities were fantastic. and wow the roof top bar
Review 41:The room was on the top floor with a good view but it had a old moldy smell to it ( it was raining ) and you could hear the people from the roof garden coming and going.
Review 42:Located close to the city center. walking distance from the Metro. Near major shopping center, restaurants and the Cathedral. Good breakfast.
Review 43:Breakfast was rather mediocre, but perfectly edible
Review 44:Location! A few minutes walk from Duomo Cathedral and lots of shops. Also a stones throw from the hip Brera District with excellent restaurants that is much less touristy. Loved the complimentary bottles of Chianti and Compari that was on the night stand.
Review 45:Absolutely nothing
Review 46:Excellent hotel in every respect air conditioning facilities decor cleaniness price. In particular both female reception staff extremely helpful and welcoming. Also special mention to Romano roof terrace manager who s attention to customer service was 1st class. His recommendations for nightlife were spot on making my stay memorable so much so on my return back up to milan I booked the hotel again!!!
Review 47:The staff are so friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, so near to metro station and to tram. Very close to La Scala opera, the duomo. Thank you everyone at Milano la scala hotel for this pleasant stay.
Review 48:Location to Duomo area perfect and on quiet street. Roof top bar is a treat! The breakfast as well, with a harpist playing. Thank you for a delightful stay!
Review 49:nothing
Review 50:I had requested an early check in and when I arrived mid afternoon they were aware and worried about me - felt like home - my plane had been delayed and I lost a connection so my bag did not arrive and they also assisted me making calls to the airline at least 3 times a day to check on it. Great location close to metro station and walking distance to several attractions. Very safe at night and nothing beats having a wonderful breakfast buffet with live classical music !
Review 51:Breakfast area was narrow and too crowded; selection of food was just average, something one would not expect from such a stylish hotel located in a country with rich supply of delicious local food.
Review 52:Everything was great; I especially liked the "sky garden" and direct access to the staircase with a view to Milan roofs straight from the room. Excellent bathroom, comfortable bed, charming staff.
Review 53:Some staff gave the wrong direction for tram station.
Review 54:The bathroom was gorgeous and clean with big rain shower and also hand shower with a great big tub and also a jet to get rid of your fatigue. Also reception staff was a great help recomending a wonderful restaurant. Want to visit again.
Review 55:Absolutely nothing. Of course one would like to spend less, but given the prices of other hotels in the area, this is very competitive.
Review 56:the hotel was perfectly located for my purposes. The room was clean, comfortable, furnished with all the necessary, and had a fairly spacious bathroom. The personnel is very attentive, helpful and appropriately friendly (from the manager, to the waiters at breakfast, to the concierge people and the valet).
Review 57:When I pay more than 350 euro per night, I expect to have 3-4 Nespresso capsels for free every morning.
Review 58:I like the comfort, the cleanliness, the facilities and the breakfast. The rooms looking behind are very quiet. Teatro alla Scala- 5 minutes walk.
Review 59:None
Review 60:First and foremost, the staff who are all very friendly and accommodating. You can feel their enthusiasm in welcoming and the eagerness to help. The room was spacious, clean and refreshingly modern with a wide and roomy terrace. The bed and linens are very comfortable. The bathroom is big, clean and fixtures of high quality. I would like to commend specially Demetrius in the reception who is sincerely helpful and went beyond the expected good service. Michele who attended to us when we had dinner in the restaurant like we were the only guests with warmth. Riva who patiently checked the church services I asked about. And all the staff in the breakfast area and the whole hotel. The breakfast music serenade by different artist from La Scala is a very nice touch. The best hotel and experience we had in our trip! Thanks a lot, you made us feel really special!
Review 61:The room, the bathroom in particular, although very clean and perfectly functional, was a bit cramped.
Review 62:Very courteous staff, tasteful décor, excellent breakfast, live music in the eating hall
Review 63:I wish the terrace was opened also on sunday. Most shops and many restaurants are closed in milan on Sunday so I did not find this surprising. Yet, the terrace is so nice that it would be a great place to lounge on a sunday, especially when not much is going on in town.
Review 64:Very good experience, i will definetely come back. The hotel is well designed and well kepy and features a beautiful terrace with a very good lunch menu. Rooms are not huge but large bathrooms are a strong plus here. The staff is super helpful, polite and responsive.
Review 65:The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel is in an excellent position near to all the tourist sites and shopping. Lovely buffet breakfast.
Review 66:No bad experiences. Accommodation is a bit expensive but central Milan and during a fair (plus expo)
Review 67:Central location near Duomo, very helpful staff at reception.Guest Manager was excellent had a lot of very helpful recommendations for restaurants and activities. Breakfast with live music was a very nice touch. Will definitely revisit.
Review 68:All hotel bars close before 11pm, no bars around hotel, no room service after 10pm! Breakfast was poor! Nothing left by 9.45 and wasn't replenished!
Review 69:Comfiest bed! Big rooms, great balcony, immaculately clean!
Review 70:Tee bags were not refilled... A bit expensive...
Review 71:Perfect location for EXPO and city tour. Breakfast was great and room was very comfortable. Staff are really friendly. I like the design of the Hotel.
Review 72:Wifi was not that great.
Review 73:Good location, close to the Piazza Duomo and shopping streets. Nice room, comfortable bed, large bathroom. Great AC, best of anywhere we stayed in Italy (most don't work). Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 74:Very poor wi-fi. It switches of every 5 min, not working at all from time to time etc. I think 4 stars hotel has to provide better connection.
Review 75:It's perfect in terms of location, quietness, cleanliness. There were live music during breakfast (piano, flute, harp, harmonica by one each morning) supporting Milano Scala name. Decent breakfast, comfy room.
Review 76:Breakfast alright but put menus on all tables, better orange-juice and larger cups for tea are small improvements that Would make difference,
Review 77:Fantastisk location and Hotel. Very nice rooms.
Review 78:Found the room a bit warm (but I am from Belfast!) and the 24 Euros for 2 beers a bit expensive (but I am from Belfast!)
Review 79:Very helpful and attentive staff. Quiet, comfortable room. Good breakfast, and I liked the cello accompanist on the Sunday morning.
Review 80:Breakfast had good variety to choose from but the hotel didn't top up many of the items even though there was still 1.5 hrs left in the buffet breakfast time.
Review 81:Excellent location and extremely helpful staff. Room had good facilities and appreciated the complimentary wine. Car park was very useful but expensive. Cellist playing at breakfast time was a nice touch.
Review 82:The bathtub/shower was a huge step up and with inadequate bars didn't feel safe. And, the restaurant food at dinner was mediocre and the service poor.
Review 83:This hotel is walking distance to many of the important sights in Milan--the Duomo, La Scala, and more. The rooms are small but modern and the continental breakfast is excellent. The staff were very helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 84:Although the room is extremely well appointed, it is really on the small side...
Review 85:The hotel's location is perfect for anyone wanting to go sightseeing; the Pinacoteca di Brera is a block and a half away, la Scala is too and the Victor-Emmanuel Gallery and the Duomo is just a tiny bit further; this location is just perfect!
Review 86:The hotel room was a bit too chilly +20 and I could not adjust the heating. Too cold!
Review 87:I really liked the high quality breakfast and the live music during the breakfast service I also appreciated the fact that the bar serves high quality wines by the glass
Review 88:The staff is fabulous, friendly and available to help us with any details we need! The hotel is beautiful and a true Italian luxurious experience. The breakfast each day with friendly attentive staff was a very good start of our day!
Review 89:I didn't have a place for an opened suitcase. I improvised however. Minor in relation to the other pleasant qualities
Review 90:Staff was very friendly. The hotel is very beautiful. Warm and comfortable atmosphere. Room was beautifully appointed...with a treat. The there is a balcony with French doors that is very beautiful. My only disappointment was the rooftop area was closed. Reopens April 1 I am told.
Review 91:they really should sort out the beds - hard mattresses and pillows and low end linen- these days the competition offers better We avoid the restaurant as we are not into health foods.
Review 92:staff , location, style, resonable room sizes
Review 93:Not so much a bad experience, just found the quality of the hotel lacking. Fittings and fixtures seemed cheap, walls in the dining room for instance were plasterboard. The shower screen in our bathroom was totally corroded at the bottom of it and unsightly. You needed a step ladder to get into the bath to access the shower, it was not user friendly. The rooms were bland, it could have been any average hotel room, nothing special. The bar area was unexciting and not enticing. I wouldn't go back.
Review 94:location.
Review 95:Room was very good with nice balcony Staff was helpful and friendly Nice selection of furniture and color Breakfast good selection Easy access to main sightseen
Review 96:Rooms not siund proof. My neighbour and friends spoke and laughed until 02:00 in the morning and I could not sleep at all. The doors do not close softly and that is very disturbing at night.
Review 97:Staff professional Hotel decor modern and appealing
Review 98:During breakfast there was a person playing flute! Who is the genious who thought people want to hear someone playing any instrument while having breakfast??? I left the breakfast after 5 min.
Review 99:Nice bathroom
Review 100:I have stayed in far better quality hotels for cheaper than this one. The rooms was freezing cold and the heating is controlled centrally, I couldn't believe they had summer duvets on the beds this time of year..I had to sleep in a dressing gown. i could hear every noise from the rooms either side of mine, people coming in late at night then even hear there alarms in the morning. Breakfast was one of the worse I have had in a 4 star hotel, on the second day we didn't even attempt to eat it and Infact just walked round the corner to a lovely coffee shop instead.
Review 101:The hotel is located in a very Central spot within walking distance of shops, restaurants and bars.
Review 102:I liked everything!!! It's very well located (3 minute walk from Teatre Alla Scala). Very nice breakfast with fresh Italian food (also, live music during the meal was impressive). What I truely liked the most was the personnel, especially the guest assistant Riva Zameto. She was very helpful and so kind! Thank you, Riva!
Review 103:Couldn't see why there was just one glass in the room for two persons
Review 104:Everything! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were quite good. Their tiramisu is the best I have ever tasted! And it was so amazing and touching to meet that lovely kitchen garden and "the bugs hotel" outside our room.
Review 105:The hotel requires some refresh, especially in the bathrooms. The WiFi is somewhat inconsistent.
Review 106:If you plan to see a performance in La Scala, this is probably the best spot you could choose - there is a comfortable 5 minutes to the venue.
Review 107:Breakfast is of high quality and selection. The hot dishes from the buffet could be improved in freshness and temperature.
Review 108:Being a small hotel, the guest is provided a personal service. The reception staff in particular, from the check in experience to information on Milan's many sights, restaurants etc set the personal tone. The rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable, the bathroom huge.
Review 109:Room heating was centrally controlled, too hot for me. Opening the veranda door to get fresh air meant giving free access to anyone on the walk way the door opened onto, not secure.
Review 110:Friendly staff, excellent service. Good food. Perfect for all city centre sights
Review 111:La Scala was our main goal and it`s really 5 min walk. We stayed in the room with windows facing the yard kinda patio), not the street. We kept curtains closed because otherwise there`s no privacy at all, but the good thing that it`s very quiet in the night.
Review 112:the hotel have private parking but my car not fitted in the parking we take the nearest parking but the man he charged us twice per 24 hours. we dont like the way he was talking to us.
Review 113:always stay at milano scala hotel near glaria and duomo.
Review 114:All that music at breakfast time. Each time when coming out of my room into the gallery I could imagine what nice jasmine fragrance the place is filled in spring or summer time. Everything was superb! Thank you!
Review 115:location the ideal for your shopping, bar, restaurants,.., comfort, quiet, stuff so helpful. value money / quality this hotel is the best in Milano
Review 116:That we could not stay longer.
Review 117:The staff were very helpful. Our room had Maria Callas on one wall to greet us! Marble bathroom was also welcome with plenty of toiletries. Also had bathrobes slippers, chocolates and free wine. Junior suite well worth the money.
Review 118:The breakfast was great - lots of choice, and what made it maore amazing was the live classical music being played in the lobby/lounge One day the flute and the next day a harp. A lovely way to start the day We had a duplex room with a double bed in the loft upstairs and a sofa bed in the main living area.
Review 119:There was nothing to dislike! If anything I would say that the hotel is not cheap, but the standard of service, location and comfort make up for it.
Review 120:The HMS is set in a fairly quiet road near to La Scala and all the other main attractions in Milan. The staff are extremely helpful and within an hour of check-in, Riva had organised for us to go to see the Last Supper by Leonardo. Everything is in walking distance and the Breda district is great for eating and drinking. Our room was very comfortable and clean and we had a small balcony to sit out on. The design around the atrium is clever and the décor interesting. We would certainly recommend this hotel
Review 121:My room didn't have a window but a door to an internal walkway around a wide internal shaft with natural light coming through the transparent ceiling. Since rooms face each other you have to trade natural light for privacy by drawing the curtains. Whoever designed the bathroom must be banned from practicing the art: 5mm gaps in the glass enclosure right opposite the fixed shower head are not a good idea; main lights are so bright that your face is in the shadow in the mirror, vanity mirror fixed at a height suitable for a child or an unusually petite woman.
Review 122:Location, obviously. Staff were excellent. I arrived early and they had to ask me to wait for a few minutes while they were checking if my room was ready. I was served coffee in the lobby that doubles as a pretty nice library, and generally cared for by more than one staff member - the receptionist, the barista, etc. I thought it was a nice touch - and the room *was* ready. Very good breakfast, accompanied by pleasant live harp music. Reliable WiFi. Comfortable bed.
Review 123:can't recall anything negative
Review 124:Best location- very close to Duomo area,Brera district, Castle and La Scala. Very friendly, helpful staff.Fantastic buffet breakfast with soft music played by a musician nearby! Well equipped room with balcony and kettle facilities, around a central quiet courtyard.I had the Maria Callas room with a huge image of her on a swing on the wall. Nice touch reminding you of the close proximity of the La Scala theatre and her importance there.Everything you need is here at the Milano hotel.I had a wonderful 7 nights stay.
Review 125:Sucked in with a photo of the two story Jr Suite, only to be told upon arrival that you only could get the two story suit if you requested it in writing, they substituted a small room with a sofa and charged the same fee calling it a Jr Suite with a view of the back of other buildings saying that most people wanted the smaller room because of the view. Ugly view!!!
Review 126:Some noise in the morning due to housekeeping, average breakfast. Garage a bit tricky to figure out.
Review 127:Very nice room, bathroom and really comfortable bed. Very helpful and acoomodating staff.
Review 128:Wi-fi in the room was a bit flakey and we struggled to get anything suitable on the television. For entertainment, go to La Scala!
Review 129:The hotel was a short walk from La Scala (the main reason for our visit). The live music at breakfast was lovely and the staff were all friendly and efficient - thank you.
Review 130:Very kind and helpful staff. Very comfortable room. Breakfast was very excellent and the harpist playing in the breakfast room made a really good start to the day. The hotel is wonderfully situated with a car park very close by.
Review 131:Standard room was smaller than we expected.
Review 132:Fabulous location - great for city stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast with guitar live-music. The roof terrace is very nice.
Review 133:Closure of kitchen at 10:30 and the person who took the message failed to give the message to the chef - so I had no food that evening!
Review 134:Ambiance, service orientation (other than the kitchen), position position position re La Scala!
