Reviews for Nishiizu Koyoi Onsen

Review 1:Wasn't easy to reach by public transport.

Review 2:The private onsen & the outdoor bathtub on the balcony were great. The room is classical japanease with tatami matts.

Review 3:We were a bit disappointed by the fairly small size of the rooms and the absence of a "kakari-san" in attendance. For some reason, the ryokan's phone number cannot be detected by GPS. Even though management knows about it, they haven't done anything about it.

Review 4:It's a ryokan with a modern touch and that's what I like best about the place. It's lobby is cozy and chic. With the free treats, coffee and whisky, the lobby is a nice venue for guests to congregate after meals. The ryokan is just a stine's throw away from a most scenic spot to view Fujiyama. Too bad it's partially blocked by another hotel so this fantastic view is not visible from most of the rooms.

Review 5:The mattresses were too thin. We'd had thicker tatami matts everywhere else and were very comfy but here they seemed to only have the thinner 'top' mats. Also the onsen was unbearably hot.

Review 6:The live music (Saturday night) and overall facilities were good. The staff were helpful. Nice food (kaiseki).

Review 7:Nothing - we loved it all

Review 8:This was a delightful ryokan which we found completely by chance. The styling is modern, beautifully thought-out, and extremely comfortable. We could walk down to the beach from the hotel (first a rocky beach next to the car park, and then a little further to the sandy park part), or just happily stay in the various onsens.. including one in our own room.. all day long! Rooms are larger than expected, breakfast was great, facilities in the communal areas very well thought out. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Review 9:Lots of small details one would expect better at the price class - tea bags instead of real green tea in the rooms, sake served in cheap wine glasses, cheapest kind of single use chop sticks. The expensive private in room outdoor bath was tiny with almost no view at all

Review 10:Fantastic location, though unfortunately the view was spoiled by the adjacent hotel blocking the view of Mt Fuji. The food was nicely presented and delicious

Review 11:It's a bit out of way, you really need a car which we did so it was ok. The sign does not say in English the heading above, we had a bit of bother finding it.

Review 12:We really enjoyed this place. Staff were really friendly (English adequate). Really good Japanese meals, we were spoilt. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Great view of the sea and the fishing boats. Easy access to waterfront. Nice private onsen with view across sea.

Review 13:It is better to understand japanese but they can a bit english.

Review 14:It was really nice, the place is really good near to the see. Personal was really friendli and the dinner was really good.

Review 15:Difficult to get to - do not consider without a car. Poor management. Inadequate or lazy staff; 1 lady did everything from reception to housekeeping to billing; the rest of the staff do nothing at all. Let me wait for 2 hours to get the right room. Made us missed the sunset - the primary purpose of staying there! Ask for extra money apart from Booking.com price. Too far away and remote. Only has unobstructed sunset from a few rooms, all others has buildings and artifacts in the view. Public hot bath has no view or decorative landscapes. Not worth the money at all!

Review 16:It has a nice sunset view in a quiet seaside area.

Review 17:The hotel is pretty hard to reach ; from Tokyo, it takes a JR Shinkansen + a local train + 1 hour in a bus + the hotel free shuttle. On the other hand, the place is amazingly beautiful and typical, with gorgeous onsens (including a privative one on the roof in front of the bay ...)

Review 18:The place is gorgeous, the personnel is overwelcoming and so king you'll have the best stay you can dream of. Rooms are very beautiful and typical japanese style. Cherry on the cake, the reakfast was an amazing experience for us europeans !

Review 19:Quite a secluded location and got a few awesome seafood restaurants around due to it being located nearby a port town. Friendly, accomodating and helpful. Dinner and Breakfast meals are great. They even gave us a different dinner on the 2nd night instead of the fixed one that everyone would had in the 1st night. Dinner is fine dining style so expect small portions. It comes with the cost of staying there though.

Review 20:The whole place was clean but it could do with a revamp.

Review 21:The views were incredible! The onsen was very cool! The service was pleasant and the food was pretty decent.

Review 22:Very country side, only lobby have wifi, no wifi connection in rooms, even Japan pocket wifi or non docomo phones have weak to no receptions. Great for honeymooners. Bad if you expecting calls from work, or need to keep in touch with friends and family.

Review 23:The staffs are outstanding, great for non Japanese speakers!! Great view and hot spring!!

Review 24:The place is very comfortable. Foods served are variety. Gotten a glimpse of Mt Fuji from the hotel, nice scenary.

Review 25:A bit difficult to access via public transport

Review 26:The food it absolutely the best

Review 27:staff not friendly as a Japaneses style hotel, after we check in, not even guide us to the room

Review 28:There was a big spider inside our room.

Review 29:I liked the lobby area and onsen

Review 30:the room is clean and confortable.

Review 31:We liked everything! The staff, the view, the onsens (especially views from private ones!), the room, the food, just everything was perfect!!

Review 32:The bathroom is dark and old fashioned The hotel is isolated

Review 33:The dinners are substantial The view of the bay is gorgeous

Review 34:you can see a very beautiful ocean view from your room.

Review 35:Our room wasn't made up during our stay.

Review 36:The food was out of this world and definitely the highlight of our stay. Our waiter was outstanding.

Review 37:room on 3rd floor opposite to kitchen. smell not good

Review 38:Dinner was not the traftional Japanese Kaiseiki but mor like a fusion food and too small a quantity to satisfy the stomach in this cool weather.
