Reviews for Casa del Borgo
Review 1:We went to the address we were given and no one was there - had to go to a cafe and they tried to call. Finally we got on WiFi and Skyped and someone showed up. Nice kitchenette in unit but no cookware. No internet as expected so could not Skype or find anyone to ask.
Review 2:clean, well located, nice bathroom
Review 3:A lot of steps to take luggage up, cost ten euros for someone to carry our two suitcases up to the apartment. Paid cash for the apartment, no receipt sent after saying it would be emailed.
Review 4:Good location
Review 5:Would have preferred to have had a shower rather than tiny bath. Could have done without the bidet.
Review 6:great apartment, close to village and train. Great to have cooking facilities. Very comfortable.
Review 7:Toilet seat dangerously loose & dirty. Shower head rail loose & non adjustable, mould mildew & soap scum & hair in shower.Bathroom door jams halfway open.Brown water out of taps intermittently.Uncomfortable creaky bed.Dining table is half of a cafe table ie: a small triangle. Crockery dirty with lipstick stains.Power adaptor for appliances burnt out.Floors filthy. Only 1 window had a blind so could not block alleyway light.
Review 8:Absolutely nothing. DO NOT STAY HERE if you value your health & safety. This place is filthy, badly maintained & totally inadequate.Small, dingey, nothing at all like the pictures.
Review 9:The smell in the apartment was not so pleasant. We had no internet connection
Review 10:The apartment is very nice, especially the bathroom. The location very good
Review 11:Could not get the internet to work at all. But hey, we were on vacation. Good to unplug for a bit.
Review 12:Not a typical hotel. More like a VRBO (which we liked better). Clean, comfortable and right in the center of Riomaggiore. Wish we could have stayed another night.
Review 13:Bed is uncomfortable. You can feel the springs in the bed. We arrived in the evening and there was no lighting, very hard to find the location, although it was close to station once we found it.
Review 14:Big apartment. Good location, very close to train station.
Review 15:There is no lift (which is understandable, we didn't expect to find it) and it was difficult to bring our luggage upstairs. It was very noisy even at night. The location is very good so it's a compromise.
Review 16:Everything was great except two things.
Review 17:Representative was not at location at agreed upon time. On our second day of a three day stay a couple knocked on the door and said they had booked the apartment for that night. I called the owner and she arrived to make other arrangements.
Review 18:Location.
Review 19:Was hard to find at first time, may be the owners should give more detailed information regarding the location.
Review 20:All of the apartment was perfect: location, facilities, staff. The location is hard to find at first time, especially of you arrive late at night, but once you've found it, it's perfect.
Review 21:No wi-fi despite being told that it was available. You need a phone to ask for assistance and we didn't have one and felt rather isolated. Be prepared to walk up a lot of stairs.
Review 22:Great location, close to train station and restaurants. There was a refrigerator which was unexpected and very useful.
Review 23:The pictures I saw online were definitely not what my apartment looked like and the bed wasn't very comfortable.
Review 24:I loved the location of our apartment
Review 25:Location was extremely hard to find, most locals hadn't heard of the street or hotel. Then we had to call a number to check-in and meet us outside. Wifi was useless. Place itself was fine for a couple of nights.
Review 26:The terrace was the best feature, enjoyed sitting outside overlooking the town in the mornings & evenings.
Review 27:the wifi didn't work all the time and when it was working it's not that quick.
Review 28:Great location very near the trainstation and just a few steps from the mainstreet.
Review 29:It is very noisy. Right above the main street. Revelers were out and noisy until 2AM. And then shop owners, street cleaners, delivery people, maintenance people etc. start their day at 5:30 AM with all of the associated racket and vehicle backup up beeping. Also their are thirty two high rise steps in a narrow hallway to get bags into the case.
Review 30:Easy to fond from subway
Review 31:I requested Wifi, but when I arrived there was none. It was hot and the only fan in the apartment was broken. The lock was messed up and took about 20 min to get in every time I came home.
Review 32:Great location
Review 33:We asked specifically for the flat with blue tiles (as in Picture) but were given another one. Dishwasher did not work. We would have appreciated a washing machine and more pegs and washing lines that actually can be pulled (the pulley was broken)
Review 34:the position of the apartment
Review 35:Tiny bathroom (watch your head) with tiny tub/shower. You have to travel very light because dragging your Luggage up the (many) stairs and back up the hill is heavy. Although situated in a quite street, some very noisy people disturb the nightly silence.
Review 36:Nice relatively big appartment. Hard but comfortable bed. Bedroom with balcony. Spacious living room with small kitchen. Very central located just outside the busy main street.
Review 37:The apartment does not have elevators so you will have to climb a lot of stairs. This is generally not a problem, but something to be aware of when traveling here. Also, we preferred the northern cities; Monterosso (for the beaches) and Vernazza (for the ambiance) were our personal favorites.
Review 38:The apartment was located in a very central part of the city. It also has a very nice balcony on the roof with plenty of room to relax and enjoy a drink/snack.
Review 39:Noise from renovation in neighbouring unit that started earlt morning No air conditioners & fans in bedrooms So it is very hot during summer Bathro ventilation is inefficient
Review 40:Location- very convenient
Review 41:Terrible beds and pillows, great location however, Also the balcony's are potentially hazardous for smaller kids. Everything felt like it had been reinforced with sticky tape here!
Review 42:Location Good service
Review 43:Noisy at night due to being in heart of downtown (helped to close doors and shutters). Beds not great but appropriate for price and location.
Review 44:Location fantastic!! Easy access to buses, trains and beach. In the heart of town so easy access to shops, restaurants. View of water and sunset from balcony plus fun to sit on balcony and watch village below.
Review 45:2-6pm check in time was a little tight. Missed the check in by half an hour and had to find another room the first night because of it. Which included running up and down riomaggiore which is not easy. Couldn't reach anyone. Would suggest opening that up a little. Flights get delayed, things happen.
Review 46:Huge apartment compared to what else was available in the area. Located at the start of the town. Not too much walking to get there.
Review 47:Located off main street. Near to train station
Review 48:No air conditioning. One fan is providrd. Very warm in summer. Located on steep slope up many steps. Not suitable if you have heavy luggage
Review 49:There was supposed to be wifi, but it never seemed to work
Review 50:Our room had a great location right in the center of Riomaggiore. The room was huge, with a private bathroom and kitchenette.
Review 51:It missed the nice touches like coffee facilities that hotels charging the same amount would provide.
Review 52:Apartment was in great location close to Main Street. Comfortable and clean.
Review 53:Located in the heart of Riomaggiore with not too many steps. Great character with nice touches - very spacious. Staff so helpful when I needed to find a doctor.
Review 54:From the moment we got to Cinque Terre our group did not feel welcomed. One main reason we booked this place was because free wifi was offered and since we are abroad, wifi is our only source of communication with our parents and friends. Antonella kept telling us that it was not her problem that the promised wifi was not working. She also set a time to come meet with us the next morning to see if it was working or compensate us for it not. However, she never showed up the next morning. When we called for instructions about checkout since we were never given any, she hung up on us mid phone call when we were asking about the wifi that she promised to compensate. While not having wifi was not the hugest deal as there were bars close that had wifi, the way Antonella went about avoiding the problem was very unprofessional. The beds were also very uncomfortable. If you're looking for a place to stay in Riomaggiore that offers you a great location but poor service that will infuriate you on the first day, then this is the place for you.
Review 55:Great location and the town of Riomaggiore was picture perfect!
Review 56:Unfortunately the wifi didn't work for us when e needed to organisesome things, but the cafes directly below the apartment (30 second walk)had wifi so it was never a problem for us, besides, who needs internetwhen you're in cinque terre ;)
Review 57:I loved this place. We had an amazing time. We couldn't have askedfor a more perfect location- right in the centre of Riomaggiore!! Itwas easy to find the meeting spot for the apartment (call or emailbeforehand) and we were met by a lovely lady who always greeted us whenwe saw her. The room had everything we needed for 4 people. We bookedthe apartment with the terrace overlooking the main street and we couldsee everything including the sea. Great location to base yourself tosee the other towns, just a 1 minute walk to the train station and seaport. Seriously couldn't recommend this place more, a highlight forme, grazie!
Review 58:Very old and rundown, Internet there but extrememly slow and couldn't do anything. No hot water twice and had to run for 20 min before came hot. Kitchen facilities broken. Leak in the bathroom and apartment smelt.
Review 59:Location was good and close to train
Review 60:Fantastic location, right next to the main street in Riomaggorie. Hidden away up a few steps it was a perfect apartment with plenty of space, a cute balcony & all the amenities we needed, including a hairdryer/ towels/ kitchen facilities etc. Would definitely recommend to friends & family of they were visiting the area :)
Review 61:I rated the wifi as low because we could not read the password in the room. To be fair, we did not follow up with our host because we were having too much fun in the area to worry about wifi
Review 62:We rented two apartments, but only one of them with wifi. A bit too cold inside the room.
Review 63:good location with good facilities, close to railway station, shops and everything.
Review 64:Didn't like the attitude of our contact. Yes, we were late arriving due to airline delays and we had trouble finding our way in the dark from Pisa. After being up for 30 hours we didn't need a lecture on how inept we were at driving plus our contact didn't even introduce herself, was just angry because it was late. She needs to remember that these things happen and she is in the "service" industry!
Review 65:Really did like the location and the village was great.
Review 66:Meeting point was just that - a meeting point and I was then taken to a nearby room. After finding the meeting point, not easy, and dragging my case up the steps to get there I wasn't keen to go up more steps. Thankfully it wasn't too bad.
Review 67:Room was well located and quiet. Room had everything required, kitchenette was limited but I had a kettle and toaster and there are plenty of cheap eateries in town including takeaways. Wifi available free at bar downstairs. Riomaggiore was lovely quiet place to stay and a good base for Cinque Terre.
Review 68:Riomaggiore has very steep slopesand lots of stairs and that is expected but nonetheless very very beautiful and this apartment is very close to tran station. From the train station you will enter a tunnel and right after you will have to climb a slope and some stairs but its very close. Considering it's a remote area this apartment is not bad at all. There are no lifts so if possible travel light
Review 69:Apartment was a little dated and the bed was not particularly comfortable. The facilities were just serviceable.
Review 70:Location was excellent, being vey close to the train station and facilities of the centre of town. It was easy to arrange a meeting time to pick up the keys and to check out, was very straightforward
Review 71:Still waiting for a receipt. Dishwasher doesn't work. Electricity fuses if you use two appliances at the same time. The boiler in the bathroom leaks. Workmen turned up to fix the wifi during breakfast and for some reason someone needed to visit the wardrobe in the bedroom whilst we were out.
Review 72:The facility is well appointed, it is a few steps away from the crowds in the high street, but is very quiet. Very comfortable, but not much daylight and don't expect a view from the ground floor. The bathroom is an unusual experience
Review 73:Nothing particularly, except that you need to contact staff in advance to get the room key.
Review 74:My room was, too my surprise, very nice (doesn't have the shower room in rock) and there's a huge comfy bed. Also, I love the window scene.
Review 75:Lovely person met us at a cafe which was easy to find to take us to apartment. Large apartment for 2 of us very central to all restaurants and shops and close to train station and ferry. Well equipped, comfy bed and very quiet. A great find!
Review 76:We were a party of 5 and could have easily all stayed at the apartment but it was only designated for 4 persons, so we needed to book an extra double room to accommodate us.
Review 77:Location was excellent, apartment was very roomy and comfortable.
Review 78:Bathroom was very clean but too small and very difficult to get in and out of due to the shape of the room with a very low and awkward shape ceiling which could be rather dangerous as it had many sharp angles
Review 79:Rooms were 'roomy'. Comfortable bed. Facilities very good. Location very good.
Review 80:Casa de Borgo is a collection of apartments in different locations. We hired two flats. One was one of the ones pictured on the website (very noisy and uncomfortable bed), the other was a two bedroom hovel in another building which was not fit to stay in. Only sofa beds, metal filing cabinet for furniture, cheap or non-existing fittings, overall, an absolute joke. If you book these, check carefully where you are staying!
Review 81:Relatively clean
Review 82:do not stay in the room with the rock shower, very musty and strong odor. Not sure of other rooms
Review 83:location needed to call for directions and be met to get keys etc. needed that info a head of time..
Review 84:Hard to find. Loud church bells rings every hour all day and night. Creepy place. Mold everywhere. Stove didn't work and they wouldn't discount our stay so we had to go out to eat every night. People were rude when we called to check in after over an hour of trying to find the place. Then they didn't even help carry our bags after us dragging them up and down massive steps all over town and then told us that we are staying at a different location.
Review 85:Very hard to find in check in. small bathroom, no water preasure in the shower... very annoying. no real stuff... it's just a room to rent.
Review 86:The location is superb. In the center of the village, and close to the train station. large place and good WIFI
Review 87:Innitially unbelievably difficult to find. Communication was near non existent.
Review 88:Very good spot in town with quick access to food and shopping and transport
Review 89:Too many steps for older people and difficulties in Arrival. Otherwise very helpful.
Review 90:Eventually the guide arranged for our luggage to be picked up as it would have been impossible for us to drag our bags up to the carpark.
Review 91:The accommodation was very basic, but with no outlook and not easy to get to. The reception arrangements were chaotic and it took us about three hours of frustration in the hot sun to finally find our accommodation agent and find a room. We did not get the one we booked (it was already occupied) and the agent had some difficulty in actually finding us a room. The neighbours were noisy, with baby crying most of our stay. The parking in Riomaggiore is abysmal. We waited an hour outside the parking lot to get in and pay our E42 for a day and a half parking.
Review 92:The location was very convenient to the beach and railway station. The room was very basic, but had air conditioning and a functioning kitchenette.
Review 93:the address is given as the check in point for all the guests. lots of the guests come to you first and despite the warning on the door, be sure they knock the door and wanna take info from you
Review 94:love the bathroom, kitchen is well equipped, close to main road, train station and marina. no need for a/c in summer
Review 95:Maybe some basic supplies (tea, coffee, sugar etc.) could be provided to make settling in a bit easier on arrival.
Review 96:Location was excellent. Handy to rail station, restaurant and shops. Very quiet and comfortable. Bathroom and shower were very impressive
Review 97:Very basic facilities. Bed wasn't comfortable
Review 98:Not too many stairs to reach the place but some are quite steep. Not far from town centre. Our host was accommodating on arrival
Review 99:It was kind of weird to have a red lamp in the kitching as you can't really see the color of the food, but we didn't really use the kitchen for cooking food anyway. So it was all good for us.
Review 100:The apartment looked really good and we had our own balcony looking down on the busy street of Riomaggiore! It was clean and the beds slept great. I would recommend to stay here to anyone!
Review 101:Poor instructions as to location of "hotel" - ie what hotel???? Noisy location. Staff started stripping our beds before we'd even checked out properly. Dodgy lock on the downstairs front door. Wouldn't have liked to have tried to get out fast in an emergency!
Review 102:Small, tight parking spaces. Uneven, cobblestone steps were a challenge to walk in, in shoes other than sneakers.
Review 103:We loved the village of Riomaggiore! Very quaint, romantic & beautiful, not to mention, excellent restaurants (La Lanterna, La Lampara & A Pie' de Ma'). The apt. has 2 levels with a spiral staircase & a balcony, very spacious. It was off the beaten path, so we felt like true locals. Would definitely recommend it!
Review 104:The location was great, the aparment was clean and even though it was small it was enough for a couple on a few days visit. It's good that there are cooking possibilities and the woman who gave us the key was very friendly and helpful despite the language barriers!
Review 105:This town is full of steps, 60 from our front door to the main street.
Review 106:Terrace looking down on the main street so we could always see what was going on and if the noise was a bit much there was double glazing and air con. Loved being able to hang our washing outside the window like the locals.
Review 107:door sticking into ensuite so couldn't open properlyand handle in shower broken. Tea/coffee making facilities but could have provided tea/coffee etc at very little cost
Review 108:close to railway station and in centre of riomaggiore
Review 109:It was difficult to get in touch with the staff since there is almost no wifi in town but I managed with a pay phone.
Review 110:The washroom in the apartment that my boyfriend and I rented was very spacious and had a "cave-like" shower that was such a nice change from all of the other tiny showers we experienced throughout Europe. The apartment was very tidy and we were allowed to use all utensils and appliances. Antonella gave us a great overview of the place. Great location! Just around the corner from the main entrance to the town but quiet enough to have a peaceful sleep at night. Would definitely recommend this to others.
Review 111:If you've ever been in an unfinished basement where the lime is seeping through the damp concrete/stone wall (efflorescence), that's what this entire unit smells like. The owner of the unit (also owns Arbaspaa tours) said that all their units suffer from a humidity problem. This isn't surprising, due to the units being built into the rock, however, there are correct and incorrect ways to deal with humidity. This unit did not take care of it correctly, which led to many issues. There is an open brick arch in the bedroom that is covered in thick mold along the wall, and the wall is showing mold coming through as well. The bathroom ceiling has mold everywhere, and the kitchen cupboards upstairs have the same problem. You can't escape the smell. To try to combat the smell, they have three air fresheners in the bedroom area to try to mask it, with additional air fresheners in the bathroom and kitchen area. They don't eliminate the smell; just add to it.There is WiFi there, but the connection drops every 5 minutes; not from a weak signal, but rather there's something wrong with the router itself.Even though there are two TVs, the downstairs TV is one of those old tube TVs you'd find in a motorhome. We spent a lot of time outside so this wasn't an issue for us but could be an issue for others. We also had problems with the remote with that TV.There is AC and heating on both floors, although it runs quite loud when you turn it on.The cool temperature in the unit is somewhat of a good thing, but unfortunately, it's VERY cool; so much so that the floor is icy to the touch. The furniture consists of the cheapest items you could buy at IKEA (literally -- they still have the IKEA manuals here) but they are functional.Mattress is firm but fine.
Review 112:We stayed in the "Superior One-Bedroom Apartment" at Via Della Valletta 29 in Riomaggiore. It has neat little features. It's two units, one on top of the other, connected by a spiral staircase, with an entrance up top and down below. The Riomaggiore housing is all built into the rock, which provides for some neat features inside the unit as well as outside. Even though the temperature outside is 27-30 degrees Celsius, it's nice and cool inside. There is a TV downstairs and upstairs in the unit, with a kitchen and lounge area upstairs (with a small balcony) and the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Nice lounge chaise in the upstairs area, and a kitchen + pots/pans/dishes/cutlery/mugs.
Review 113:It had a musty smell but it is built into the side of a mountain so thatis to be expected I suppose. Most of the buildings we went to there hada similar small by virtue or the terrain and how everything is builtinto the cliffs. Also it does not have ac - which we didn't mind, because it wasn't too hot with ocean breeze.
Review 114:I was able to reserve everything online and the staff met me just asdetailed in the email. The unit was a great reprieve from the standardEuropean style accomodations. It was roomy and the bathroom wasabsolutely amazing! It was easy to get to and from the train whichtakings you between all the 5 villages. It really doesn't matterwhat village you stay in, because they are all just a few mins apart bythe train that run continuously. Riomaggiore was very nice and therewere small shops and cafes and bars all right there. We went to all 5villages with ease from this location and got good rest and a goodshower at Casa del Borgo. Would stay there again.
Review 115:Windows, no possibility to obtain dark for the night ! Very unconfortable bed.
Review 116:Location in center of village
Review 117:It is a single apartment, spacious with rather good facilities.
Review 118:Small problem with shower.
Review 119:Fantastic location; adjacent to transport and dining
Review 120:Perfect location. Can walk to everything.
Review 121:Wifi did not work
Review 122:Great location right next to the water and restaurants.
Review 123:low wi fi signal
Review 124:poor service, no wifi.
Review 125:great location and comfortable.
Review 126:The stairs between ground & first floor was tight and hard to manage.
Review 127:Nice Lounge area & within easy walking distance of rail station.
Review 128:The proximity to the town but above all, the shower!
Review 129:very poor signal for wi-fi
Review 130:the location
Review 131:Damp smell in bedroom and cleanliness
Review 132:Location
Review 133:Wifi was very slow and stairs - nearly 60 of them - are a challenge with any amount of luggage
Review 134:Location is great. Comfortable room and facilities.
Review 135:Too noisy
Review 136:价格稍微有点高,台阶也高,晚上睡觉有点吵。
Review 137:地理位置较好,出门就是超市和餐馆还有大海,房间非常大,干净,较为舒适。
