Reviews for APA Hotel Himeji-Eki-Kita
Review 1:Due to my late booking, the price was 150$/night. The breakfast is Japanese style, no tea served.
Review 2:A standard Japanese hotel, small but including every facilities.
Review 3:The breakfast needed some different choices as well there was construction right outside my window during the day/early evening so quite noisy. However there is nothing the hotel could do about that
Review 4:The bedrooms were small but very clean. The bedding was comfortable and acceptable. A business hotel. You must request a non smoking room
Review 5:Room was so small you couldn't put your bags down. You could feel all the springs in the bed, very uncomfortable. We luckily brought our own camping pillows which were better than what was provided.
Review 6:Location was good
Review 7:Nothing in particular. Like in all major cities, the rooms are a bit too small. But, this is expected in Japan
Review 8:Being near to the JR station and Himeji Castle is a plus. Moreover, there are numerous food outlets and supermarts near the hotel
Review 9:Room was extrenely small. Not unusual for Japan, to be fair, but it was literally double bed plus about two feet - there wasn't enough space to organise a suitcase without blocking the path and one of us tripped over it in the night.
Review 10:Location was fine. Staff were friendly. Breakfast buffet was great with a nice view over the city. Room was spotless.
Review 11:Although th room directory showed the restorant was open 9.00 pm, we were told it was closed at 8.45.
Review 12:The location on the main street opposite the public car park
Review 13:Checkin time is later than most. Rooms need an upgrade, bathroom cubicles are falling apart, beds are worn out. Cleanliness is OK.
Review 14:Location was convenient to train station and shopping galleries, not far from castle, breakfast was good quality and variety (Japanese and western). Lobby has had major upgrade.
Review 15:When I was shown room. It was tiny, less than half the size for more money than what I paid in Kyoto. Also, not even a tea bag was offered complimentary. The staff told me that this was one of their new rooms and did not offer me an alternative. The staff was not friendly and helpful.
Review 16:The location
Review 17:Slightly expensive but maybe due to a local festival? Breakfasts not included. Could have been at the price charged. That said got the price of it back from the fun watching the dancing at the festival.
Review 18:As everyone says, "close to station". Easy stroll to castle.
Review 19:Very little space even to put our suitcases. We went for breakfast at 9:05 and hadn't been told it ends at 9 sharp. No deal-breakers, just a couple minor gripes.
Review 20:Clean hotel, comfortable beds. Great location between the JR station and the castle. Helpful and courteous staff.
Review 21:Beds were average. One was saggy and could feel the springs through the mattress.
Review 22:Great location. Within walking distance of train station and Himeji Castle. Close to restaurants and shopping malls. Single rooms good size with small double bed and good wifi. Buffet breakfast good with lots of variety, Western and Japanese choices. Staff friendly and helpful and onsite coin operated laundry.
Review 23:Get your elevator doors checked. They close so quickly if someone is not holding the open door button, the doors close on you while you are walking out. Someone will get hurt.
Review 24:Super convenient to the station and castle. Upgraded lobby.
Review 25:My wife and daughter hated it. They felt it was too cramped (like a NY cheap hotel) and dirty by Japanese standards (which I have to say, their dirty is our spotless.)
Review 26:Honestly as a guy, I thought it was fine. Sort of a Japanese Motel 6.
Review 27:Good location. Near train station. 10 mins walk to Himeji Castle. Supermarket across the street. Rooms are small but have all amenities . Good value.
Review 28:Room was really old and a bit falling apart. We found hair in the bathroom (from previous guests, I guess), not very clean. The bed was really hard to sleep on - you could totally feel all springs on your back) and the bedclothes felt not fresh, very thin. We stayed in a wide range of places during our travel in japan - from hostels to 5* hotel - and this was the worst experience of all. Wifi was not working in our room. If we had paid 40 euros, i.e. 50 dollars, it would have been acceptable. But no rate above that could be worth it.
Review 29:Location was great and staff very helpful. We did not enjoy our stay at all, but the front desk staff did all they could to help us and were very kind and professional.
Review 30:In slightly older part of town.
Review 31:Short distance from JR. Himeji Station and you can almost get there without opening an umbrella on a rainy day if you can navigate through the multitude of paths to the hotel. Walking distance to Himeji castle. plenty of options izakaya near by.
Review 32:Very strange shower/tap combination. Not sure how to use it in the beginning. Rooms could be a bit bigger.
Review 33:Location is great. In a very central street. Nice staff like almost all Japanese places. Good car parking. Rooms were a bit small but okay.
Review 34:good location and Himeji castle has been reopened (as of April 2015) it's so beautiful even at night! There is a nearby shopping arcade! check it out!
Review 35:Toilet is dirty, room is very tiny, bed is so still that I got a headache the day after. Also, only 1 key supplied when we have 2 people.
Review 36:Location is pretty good, 300m from station, price is right, but I didn't expect such a dirty room.
Review 37:Mostly like, though the castle completion is yet March 2015.
Review 38:going to the Himeji Castle is convenient by walking through a long boulevard or through covered buildings with lots of stores and restaurants.
Review 39:The elevator to reach the reception on the first floor was broken. There was nobody to help us to bring our luggage to the first floor. -The bed was extremely hard by western standards, the hardest I had in Japan.
Review 40:Close to train station and castle, very cheap
Review 41:Work still underway so no elevator to ground floor entrance, probably will be fixed soon Construction noise
Review 42:Location close to JR station and to Himeji Castle Freshly renovated/new Close to shopping and restaurants Competitive price
Review 43:The young man at the desk asked my partner if she was Japanese. It isnever a good idea to ask a Japanese woman if she is Japanese.I wondered if this is an isolated case or a management issue.
Review 44:Location, wifi, ease of getting to places we wanted to visit.
Review 45:The hotel was a bit dated and could do with a new bathroom, but other than that, it was a good base for one night.
Review 46:It's in between the station and Himeji Castle, so both were within walking distance. Lots of food places and the main shopping arcade is right next door.
Review 47:Quite dingy. Although it was clean it felt quite old and worn. Bed wasn't great. The bathroom flooded a little when we used the bath but this was promptly fixed. Very basic
Review 48:Really good location. Right next to the shops and main himeji station and bus terminals Staff were good and helpful Just a basic hotel so if you're looking for a place to crash after a long day it's good.
Review 49:look thoroughly on map for it's location, because from the himeji station it's a little difficult to see the hotel sign (it's in japanese off course), got lost the first time i got there
Review 50:a very good place to stay, close to the station (around 5 minutes walk) and himeji castle, the free wi-fi is a HUGE plus, just realized how difficult it is to find one in japan....
Review 51:- Everything you'd expect from a Japanese hotel was there. - Normal Japanese-sized room. - No extra "perks" like other budget hotels we stayed at during our trip. Overall, nothing bad to say. Just nothing "exceptional." Be prepared for a well-kept, somewhat smaller room with an excellent hotel staff.
Review 52:- Everything you'd expect from a Japanese hotel was there. - Great location near Himeji Castle. - Great location near convenience stores and restaurants. - Easy to find from the station. - Friendly, good customer service. =) We stayed in 5 different places, and this one was what we were expecting for all of our hotels. Several others shined brighter, though, by offering a few small perks for choosing them over another hotel. This hotel is perfectly fine, but it didn't do anything to "wow" us.
Review 53:1.Though hotel room was ready they never allow early check-in instead they charged. 2. There was no proper information about parking. In fact it is paid parking with some discount from the hotel. 3. No information on break-fast, when enquired the next day they confirmed it is not included, when requested for inclusion we were told pay at the break-fast counter. At the break-fast counter the staff said if you ask the hotel to include it will be much less. Any how we paid at the counter. 4. We requested for non-smoking room which was never considered. 5. They insisted us to check-out at 11AM. Check-in at 3PM and check-out at 11AM is extremely pathetic service. 6. This trip arrangement by Booking.com is very disappointing.
