Reviews for Agriturismo Il Rigo
Review 1:The internet was bad one day, but it worked well the other day, they were facing some issues
Review 2:The staff was very helpful with the suggestions to do around the area. Loved the food and service, one of the best meals I have had in Italy
Review 3:Wonderful hosts who help around, very delicious dinner in the evening, Home and cozy atmosphere of country living, be sure to come back and stay for longer
Review 4:We were concerned about finding without GPS, but it was much easier than we expected with agriturismos well marked on roads.
Review 5:Ability to hike to hilltowns we could see with the excellent assistance from Matthais. Comfort rooms, great shared areas to relax and enjoy happy hour!
Review 6:Small quibble about the bath tub with hand-held shower head. Hard to wash without splashing water everywhere. Poor wi-fi connection in the "annex" where our room is located (about half mile from the main house).
Review 7:Farmhouse on top of a knoll with 360 views of the rolling countryside. Perfect for photo buffs. Centrally located for exploring Tuscan wine region, small towns and villages in the Orcia Valley. Excellent hosts ensure our every need. Great home cooked dinners (€25 pp). Fabulous and ample breakfasts.
Review 8:The bathroom needs updating, the mirror had a big crack, the shower was very small and there was no where to leave a shampoo bottle or a bar of soap. The bed mattress was very hard, we woke up with back pain every morning. The room was cleaned every day which was a plus, however it wasn't cleaned to a good standard - we found cobwebs in corners and inside bed lamp shades. We stayed in a separate building 3 min up the road of the main house. The building had a nice shared lounge with beautiful vistas and coffee and tea making facilities, however there was only one black tea bag available when we arrived and tea was not replaced for 4 days.
Review 9:The location of Il Rigo is fabulous. Wide sweeping views of the Val d'Orcia and its villages all around. You can't imagine a better setting in this part of Tuscany. The owners are very friendly and warm, and gave very good advice on places to see on our stay. Breakfast was very tasty, with local produce and home made cakes. We had dinner at Il Rigo one night and it was delicious, all prepared by the owner who is a renowned cook!
Review 10:The owners and the staff were exceptional. The food was outstanding. It was a great base location for all the areas of Tuscany. We were treated with kindness and enjoyed every minute.
Review 11:One of the most beautiful places we've ever visited. The food is delicious, and the owners and staff are friendly and helpful. The house itself is clean, charming, and comfortable. It was a perfect stay and gets our highest possible recommendation.
Review 12:Dirt road to the farmhouse is a little tricky to find. Maybe better signs along the waywould be helpful. Its about 2km long, and branches out couple of times, we did not know if we are on the right way...
Review 13:Staff was very nice, welcoming, helpful, able to communicate in several languages. Breakfasts were amazing. The breakfast room very cozy with amazing views. Original Tuscan farmhouse with a lot of character and special touches. Super quiet, you can hear birds chirping in the morning.
Review 14:Nothing to not like. Perhaps the fact that there were a lot of flies. Though realistically, that is normal if you stay on a farm in summer in that region. Its not a big problem.
Review 15:Awesome views, great food, lovely hospitality.
Review 16:- We didn't have hot water on two of the three mornings. So the shower was a bit of a penance.
Review 17:- The staff (Matthias especially) were very friendly and helped us with tips on what to see. - The food was excellent, the dinner was one of the best dinners we ever had. - The room was very comfy and romantic. - The place itself is located in the heart of the best Tuscany landscape that we found. Gentle rolling hills and wheat.
Review 18:The owners, the food, the wine, the beautiful farmhouse and all the special detail that was everywhere. Definitely, our favorite stay.....left with wonderful memories of Italy......thanks to Mathius, Louisa and Mom!
Review 19:Il Rigo promotes a basic\rustic experience, which is fine, but bed was to hard for us, but this is a minor side remark. Slow wifi (even in heaven, nowadays we need to stay connected).
Review 20:Fantastic location, great food, rustic charm, friendly staff. Overall great experience.
Review 21:No bad experiences. The place is run by a lovely family.
Review 22:Il Rigo was beautiful, quiet and restful, but most of all the food was FANTASTIC. The kitchen is staffed by three women with golden hands. Breakfast included lovely home made yogurt and homemade breads, cakes and muffins all using wonderful ingredients. Our first dinner was so good we ate the rest of our meals in Tuscany at Il Rigo and did not once regret it! The cooking class was excellent, fun and well worth doing!
Review 23:Very poor and repetitive breakfast. Kitchen inside the apartment was completely empty, no fork, no knife, nothing. Quite cold inside the habitation.
Review 24:Magnificent location, sunsets, position. Cats.
Review 25:The property is in a stunning location and we had the most amazing time there. Our hosts were so welcoming and gave us great suggestions on things to do in the local area. Breakfast and dinners were also fantastic, highly recommended.
Review 26:Away from all the tourists, but close enough to the hill towns for day trips. Mattias and Luisa were fantastic hosts. The breakfast and dinners were wonderful. The house itself was beautiful. It was exactly everything I imagined it to be.
Review 27:All perfect!
Review 28:A 450-year old farm house standing among stunning Val d'Orcia hills. Very picturesque place and very lovely hosts. Breakfasts are served with variety of local produce: cheese, veggies, prosciutto, fruit, yogurt, honey, etc. You can also pre-order dinners to try traditional Tuscan meals and wine. Free Wi-Fi is available though not quite necessary with such blissful surroundings when a deer can come close to your house!
Review 29:no Wi Fi in the second house.
Review 30:It is one of the best places and hotels in Tuscany. Beautiful towns around, fantastic nature, fairy birds in the fields and space repose. And of course beautiful dinners and hospitable masters. Absence of TV is the greatest bonus
Review 31:Food was very delicious.
Review 32:location
Review 33:Nothing.
Review 34:Perfect location in the middle of val d'Orcia with brilliant view of the meadow from the room. Friendly host and wonderful farmhouse.
Review 35:Mattress was lumpy and shower tiny.
Review 36:Beautiful setting with 360 views of Val d'Orcia. Characteristic farm house and good cuisine.
Review 37:Perfect holiday at perfect location, wonderful team, can't wait to return!
Review 38:Lots of wasps around the pool
Review 39:location, walking the grounds, food in the restaurant was the best we ate in Italy. Had a homely feel
Review 40:Bed was uncomfortable
Review 41:Stunning location - easy drives or walks to various sites. Peaceful grounds. Great staff.
Review 42:Breakfast so so .
Review 43:Location and service
Review 44:Location & views and very quiet & peaceful.
Review 45:I only stayed one night - I wished we could have stayed more.
Review 46:Out in the country. Owners were the best of anywhere. Very comfortable and beautiful.
Review 47:Faniture in rooms very basics
Review 48:Fantastic place and the people. Beautiful location. Peace, quiet, romantic views. Good, toscanian meals.
Review 49:Our shower was way too small and did not have exhaust fan operational
Review 50:The view The food The cooking class
Review 51:Agriturismo in its best! Everything was perfect. The place is just like paradise. The people running the hotel are very kind and really hospitable. They even cooked delicious baby food for my 8months baby boy!
Review 52:Room was cold, really cold.
Review 53:Great agriturismo, located in the heart of Val d'Orcia. Great owners, who are very enthusiastic about their business and country life. Maps, tips on best photo spots, restaurants advices - just ask them.
Review 54:Il Rigo is an amazing place to stay. It was the best place we have been in tuscany! The food was just awesome and the friendly family that owns the farm/hotel is a great surprise. We will come back for sure to feel like tuscans farmers at Il Rigo. Thanks, Luisa!
Review 55:Location - We specifically chose Agriturismo Il Rigo because we wanted to wake up in the Val D'Orcia and be immersed in all of the region's unaltered beauty. Agriturismo Il Rigo provided the picturesque Tuscany we were looking for: beautiful rolling green hills, old farmhouses and cypress trees all around...a photographer's dream! Agriturismo Il Rigo's main farmhouse Casabianca (which we stayed in) is 500 years old and the detached farmhouse Poggio Bacoca is 100 years old which adds to the uniqueness of this place! Customer Service - Hosts Luisa and Matthias were very sweet and accommodated our every need giving recommendations on vantage points for photos as well as sights to see during our 1 night/1 day stay there. Atmosphere - Adorable! We would highly recommend eating dinner at Agriturismo Il Rigo at least one night as it is a home made pre-fixed meal (different every night) and is just delicious! We loved feeling like we were at home away from home eating in the dining room with all the other guests of Agriturismo Il Rigo. Amenities - Keeping in mind that we were staying in a 500 year old farmhouse; the amenities were still very sufficient. Nice warm shower, clean comfy bed and wonderful Tuscan made soaps and shampoo! Oh and Il Rigo provides a great laundry service for 15 euros per load (wash and dry) and will have it ready for you in just two hours time...we loved using this option so that our clothes were clean for the last week of our trip! Would We Recommend? - Most Definitely! And next time we will make sure to stay for more than just 1 night!!
Review 56:The breakfast was skimpy, and they ran out of food once. Also, the ownerwas not very friendly , and he never took an interest in his clients. Moreover, his employees worked like trojans, and they literally seemedafraid of him! Most important, however, was the lack of directions that were provided to his accommodations. Every other turismoagraicultura had signs posted ON THE ROAD IN BOTH DIRECTIONS - a sign warning of the upcoming turnoff to his place. The owner provided two signs only inside the turnoff itself, which was visible only during the day and if you had already seen the turnoff. This was a REAL disservice or hazard to his guests.
Review 57:The facilities were nice.
Review 58:We really like this place. Really nice place in the heart of the brunello region and many medieval city's. Matthias was a great host and help us when we had questions. We had the house dinner one night and was really nice. The view from the house is breathtaking. Very relaxing.
Review 59:Breakfasts should be more varied.
Review 60:Very nice location - wonderful viwes, nice and quite area, good starting point for Tuscan sightseeing tours. Friendly and very helpful staff (speaks English and German). Our room was comfortable however small and with basic equipment (wi-fi worked quite well). In fact they have two buildings - the main one where the dining room is, and the other one - some 600 mt away. Breakfast are in Italian style - cakes (fresh, home-made, really delicious), some cornflakes (sweet of course:-(, no cereals), jam, honey and a little choice of local ham and cheese, some fruits. No vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, salad ... anything), for special request you can get fried or scrambled eggs. They are offering extra pay dinner and it is quite good option - for some Eur 25 you get 3-course meal with dessert, the food is really good and fresh and you can enjoy it in beautifull cottage surroundings not wasting time looking for some restaurant with good food for reasonable price (in San Quirico which is some 4 km away the option for dinner is quite limited). All in all it is a very good place for rest.
Review 61:Staying inside the picture postcard landscape and being able to watchthe sun set. The super friendly staff. Was the highlight of our trip toItaly. Nexttime we go back we must spend more than 1 night!
Review 62:Too many carbs for breakfast: They had a lot of homemade cakes (which were delicious, don't take me wrong) but I would appreciate a little more variety.
Review 63:The views and all the surrondings of the main house :) In one of the nights we had dinner at Il Rigo and it was delicious! I would definitely recommend it!
Review 64:no pool. rooms were quaint, but perhaps a little tired.
Review 65:Magnificent location. great views everywhere. Beautiful farmhouse building. Great nearby walks. Lovely owners. very helpful
Review 66:no negative remarks
Review 67:the hotel is disposed in wonderful place among the fields and hills. Far from the road. Silence, clear air and morning songs of fine birds. Excellent breakfast and remarkable extra pay dinner. Very well-wishing staff. If you are sicking the Paradise you have made it.
Review 68:Should have stayed longer.
Review 69:Everything. Nice view. Nice staffs. Nice place. Recommend even if price is double. This is the best place with best view, compared with every place around the d'orcia area. No need to drive anywhere else to enjoy the view of Tuscany field.
Review 70:Food ,wife and the help. But,as a business owner the guy running the show determines what the atmosphere is like. Enough said.
Review 71:The location and food were excellent.the people that worked there were very friendly and helpful. The owners daughter left Sunday and did not return.the owner was surly and yelled at the help and had a screaming fight with his wife in the parking lot on our last night. She jumped in her car and flew out of the parking lot. Not a lot to recommend except the food and the poor berated help. Not a place to stay unless the daughter is there.bad value Feel very sorry for Vittorios wife and the help. He gave us a bottle of wine when we left that should have been used for vinegar. As you can see this guy truly made our stay unpleasant at best. Our rating O. Out of 10 Very very disappointed.
Review 72:The best part of our trip. Louisa and Mathias were delightful and helpful. The situation and area very restful. The walking marvellous and the food great and wonderfully presented. We cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Review 73:I wouldn't say there was something that I didn't like, it'sjust that I'm used to more luxury places. This place, whilecomfortable is a bit spartan, but the value for money was excellent.
Review 74:Luisa, our hostess was absolutely wonderful. She has the hospitalitygene. The highlight were the warm homemade "cornetti" (Italianstyle croissant) in the morning for breakfast. Fantastic. Since it wasoff season (mid Feb), the business was actually closed, but we were ableto stay overnight. Apparently, the restaurant run by Luisa's motheris great. The views are breathtaking and the whole place has a lovelyfeel to it. Would love to go back in the spring in season. It'll beeven more beautiful.
Review 75:the place was fantasic. The young couple that takes care of everything are great. The food was also wonderful. Thanks again, Agroturismo il Rigo
Review 76:Nothing
Review 77:I liked everything, really recommend it!
Review 78:This was a beautiful place to stay with friendly and welcoming hosts. The food was great too!
Review 79:the room was very basic, a litlle bit humid, the bed not comfortable, the shower very tiny...
Review 80:location is fabulous
Review 81:The setting was stunning - just like stepping into a Tuscan postcard Luisa and Matthais were charming hosts
Review 82:Poor back up for tea/coffe making
