Reviews for Hotel Saint Nicolas

Review 1:There was a lot of noise from the cleaning (vacuum cleaners, moving furniture). Also noise from the outside ventilation pipes - it was solved by changing rooms. Hotel is currently being renovated, so you see a lot of construction work going on.

Review 2:Location - Near shops, cafés, nice restaurants and transport. Our room had a bad tub.

Review 3:The hot water was missing for the hole day. The bed lamps were really old, coming down from the ceiling as metal flexible pipes and it was impossible to adjust them.

Review 4:The location is excellent. Central r/w station is 5-7 min walk. Supermarket across the road.

Review 5:the things that make me annoyed was when i get shower, and suddently hot water turned to cold!

Review 6:i like the cleaness of the room, isreally nice, and the bed is confortable, the services absolutely nice!

Review 7:We booked the studio room, the room was great there was every thing. The hotel is really clean in the center of Brussles. The bed was comfortable , and the staff is really helpful and nice.

Review 8:The kettle was missing, no tea towel, cleaning cloths. It was a bit cold as there was only an oil heater.

Review 9:The location was fantastic.Safe area. Close to attractions. No public transport required. All walkable. Clean, modern apartment with great cooking facilities.

Review 10:We had two rooms, and our room (triple beds)'s bathroom smelled like pee the entire time, so I had to use my perfume. The other room's bathroom had a translucent blind in the bathroom which my Mom felt uncomfortable taking a shower.

Review 11:It was definitely close to all the attractions in Brussels (Grand Place was literally a few minutes away).

Review 12:The handbasin did not drain. We complained three times and nothing was done about it during our stay. It was the New Years weekend so they probably had few maintenance staff. Also the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment (Dec 2015): only one lift working, temporary floor coverings in the lobby, ply panels covering work going on behind, etc.

Review 13:The location was very good. Nice and central within easy walking distance of the historic centre, restaurants, bars, etc.

Review 14:The sofa is heavily used. The hairdryer is weak. There was a considerable amount of dust under the beds. It was cold and the heaters were weak.

Review 15:Location is great.

Review 16:We were lucky housed in the Brussels square portion of the hotel. Separate entrance and overall appartment feel added to the centralized location and made us feel like we had our own flat in the city.

Review 17:We stayed in studio, it's really nice has little kitchen, minibar and enough stuff to do food. It`s in the center, perfect ubication to be honest.

Review 18:Rude reception staff, blocked shower drains, overpriced breakfast, dirty luggage storage (rubbish from the day before), construction site with no apologies.

Review 19:Other than location nothing to like.

Review 20:The hotel itself was undertaking reservation work and minimal facilities were offered...Also the sink was broken... Finally, the hotel was not easy to find due to the name only printed on the front doors in small lettering. Do not let this discourage you however the hotel is worth the money...

Review 21:Modern studios in a good location...

Review 22:There's currently restoration work going on. Hallways looked gloomy and a bit shabby.

Review 23:Great location within Brussels' city centre. The room was spacious enough, modern and clean. The staff was helpful but sometimes distracted by other, non work-related activities.

Review 24:The first room I got had a dirty floor. The second room had water coming through the ceiling at 6 am, running down the lamp, which seemed highly unsafe. I got a new room immediately, but no other compensation or particular apologies for this inconvenience.

Review 25:The room itself was pretty nice, as in newly refurbished. Also the location is maximum central.

Review 26:Amazing central location. Helpful staff who allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel. Plenty of maps and tourist info on hand. Would defiantly stay here again.

Review 27:THE RECEPTION AREA WAS A BUILDING SITE, DUSTY AND COVERED IN MASKING TAPE.THE LIFT WAS ANCIENT AND CREAKY AND THERE WERE LAUNDRY BASKETS WITH DIRTY LAUNDRY PERMANENTLY PARKED BY THE SIDE OF THE LIFT.BREAKFAST ROOM GLOOMY AND WE WERE GLAD WE HADN'T PAID FOR BREAKFAST. 123.33336 EUROS PER NIGHT FOR SUCH A SHODDY HOTEL IS A JOKE. YOU SHOULD MAKE IT CLEAR THERE IS WORK GOING ON AND PRICES SHOULD REFLECT THAT.OUR STUDIO HAD AN ENTRANCE THAT WAS COVERED IN BROKEN GLASS, TAKEAWAY PIZZA AND AN UNIDENTIFIED LIQUID ONE MORNING.

Review 28:CLEAN ,COMFORTABLE ROOMS.

Review 29:Hotel currently under rennovation so a bit noisy in the day and some evidence of building work can be seen. Shower water cold on one occasion but dealt with swiftly by the hotel..

Review 30:great location, 5 mins walk from Grand Place, 10 mins walk to centaal station and 25-30 mins walk from Brussels Midi (the eurostar station) friendly staff. decent sized quiet room great shower better than average breakfast.

Review 31:Renovation or remedial work going on but I guess this happens everywhere at some time. Design of shower could be improved upon (when water hits curtain for 1st and only time, it pushes the curtain out of tray water catchment area).

Review 32:Facilities in the hotel were outdated, lift, bathroom facilities not working properly, no tea coffee in room and machine in lobby was out of order

Review 33:Location was fantastic for sightseeing and good for eating out locally.

Review 34:Minor detail, but the bed was positioned awkwardly and was a little short.

Review 35:Good location within walking distance to train and main sites. Very spacious studio apartment.

Review 36:Construction at hotel.wall paper horrible.safe didnt work.

Review 37:Location to train was good .can walk 15mins.food location good.nice clocation.but hotel not acceptable due construction.

Review 38:We were left without water one day so we had to take a french bath.

Review 39:Location was great with all amenities around. The studio flat was big enough to accomodate two of us.

Review 40:Old creaky lift, we had there in shock. Not possible with ordinary stairs to the groundfloor only till firstfloor.

Review 41:Old hotel rooms but nicely renovated, beautiful bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Good location. Loud but yes, right in the center.

Review 42:Apartments are in the neigbour building. Apartments are too small for comfort liiving. You are entering to the number, and your next step is into bed. Bathroom/toilet is too large (the same, as a room). Unusual architectural solvation.

Review 43:Center of Brussels

Review 44:The pillows are old, small and not comfortable at all, guys you need to change it. I stayed at 203. Plus the shower sink doesnt take the water fast and you find the water on the floor.

Review 45:The location is perfect next to everything, restaurants, cafes, shops, station.

Review 46:You can hear absolutely everything from the other rooms and corridor. Unfortunately, during our stay there were some very noisy guests in our floor and I couldn't sleep well for 2 nights. I assume this is circumstantial and with quiet guests this would not be a problem.

Review 47:The location is very convenient. Close to a subway station and close to tons of restaurants and Grand Place. Night staff is very friendly and helpful.

Review 48:I literally only slept in the hotel, so I have no idea about their facilities other than the room itself

Review 49:For the money it's a great, clean, well located and comfortable option. It's not luxury by any stretch of the imagination, but neither is the price!

Review 50:No kettle in the room, which was a big negative for someone who loves his tea and coffee. No English language TV channels.

Review 51:Central location is perfect. Clean and serviceable and good price. Good free wifi signal. Friendly staff.

Review 52:Bit difficult to find at night, need a big sign or flag out the front. No Aircon in the room & noisy if you leave the window open.

Review 53:Location was perfect, right by Metro & just around the corner from the Palace. Bed very comfortable, staff friendly

Review 54:Two small things that could be easily corrected. First, very poor quality wifi internet. It kept disconnecting and the signal was poor. Second and in my opinion quite unnaceptable. The cleaning staff entered my flat twice in the morning for 2 days in a row and came into my room and woke me up asking if I needed cleaning or new towels. I was sleeping and naked and that was really not acceptable. The second day the same thing. I was very disappointed finding someone inside my room while sleeping. Very friendly staff in general though.

Review 55:Definitely staying in this hotel again. In fact I stayed in one of the flats and I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. Had a small issue with the shower in the first day and was changed to another flat without hesitation. Friendly and helpful staff, clean, modern deco and quiet. Superb central location and great value for money. Definetely recommendIng and staying there again.

Review 56:We forgot we had breakfast included as booked it six months before when we checked in the reception never mentioned about it or what time from to breakfast was served

Review 57:Great location

Review 58:The hotel advertises TV reception....true , but nothing in English...Need BBC,,,or CNN or some English news..NO channels for an English speaker!!

Review 59:Restaurant across the street... good food,,,great friendly staff

Review 60:The hotel is located by a night club and it kept us awake until 5.30am then constriction works kept us awake from 6am. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable and the pillows were horrible!!!

Review 61:The location is handy and nice

Review 62:The only negative aspect of our stay was that there was construction going on (I'm not sure if it was in our building or next-door). They did not usually start working before 8:30am, however it was still kind of irritating. Also you could hear everyone walking in the hallways very easily, but that was not a huge deal.

Review 63:We really enjoyed our stay here. We arrived earlier than check-in time, but were allowed to get our room at 12:30 already. We were upgraded to one of the bachelor suites, which was awesome! The room was very comfortable and the decor was very modern. There were so many great features to this room and we enjoyed our stay very much. Also, you could not ask for a better location. This hotel is located right by the Bourse metro stop (literally a 2-minute walk) and right in the heart of the city, with all the food, sights, and shopping within walking distance.

Review 64:The hotel had construction going on and we were awoken to jack hammers and drills at 7 am on Monday morning!

Review 65:The studio apartment was exactly as pictured, very clean and comfortable. Check-in was easy and it helped that staff were fluent in English.

Review 66:The pillows old, poor quality, and wasn't comfortable. In the morning one of the elevator was full of trash. WiFi very poor and usually don't work.

Review 67:The hotel in general was clean. The location is good, right in the center of Brussel. The staff is polite and responsive.

Review 68:It was top floor and no elevetor.

Review 69:It is a really nice hotel with good price. We booked 3 people room. It was a nice and big room. It was really comfortable.

Review 70:The room was too hot and we couldn't turn the radiator off. Nor could we open the windows at night as it was on a noisy street. The hot water ran out for showering.

Review 71:The studio which slept 3 was nicely furnished and decorated with a great bathroom.

Review 72:I think the foyer of your hotel is a little lacking, especially near the lift on the ground floor, although I think you may not have finished renovating. Television reception was extremely poor and I would have appreciated BBC World to be available - essential if you want more English speaking guests to return. Those are my only criticisms.

Review 73:Proximity to the centre of town was very good I was in a recently renovated room where everything was new. it was very pleasant, comfortable and clean. There was no view but that did not matter. I did not have breakfast at your hotel - i never east breakfast.

Review 74:Initially we were given a smoking room but staff quickly fixed up a clean room upon request

Review 75:Staff very welcoming and informative. Needed a late checkout which was no issue either.

Review 76:Hotel has thin walls and doors and is very noisy and you can hear sounds from the hall and other rooms. The elevator is really slow.

Review 77:Location is great. The room was clean.

Review 78:Shower drained so slowly but as it was a shower room it flooded the bathroom. Would be better to include the city tax cost when you book instead of having to pay at checkout.

Review 79:Good location, no problem getting in/out late at night.

Review 80:The pub & kebab places across the road were open until about 4 am so there was a lot of noise from the street.

Review 81:Great location close to shops & a short walk from the train station

Review 82:No parking close by. Hard to haul the luggage to the hotel. It is on a pedestrian street and there is no car access. Hard for seniors.

Review 83:Location. It is in the heart of the old city.

Review 84:See through curtain on the bathroom window. Had to shower in a dim light otherwise buildings across the street could see in.

Review 85:Location. Clean room, spacious, modern.

Review 86:The elevator was probably the slowest I've ever been on, and it seems like it could use fixing. The lobby could use some additions to feel more welcoming. Still a great stay.

Review 87:Great location!! And the room was recently re-modelled. Good size rooms and a big bathroom with a bathtub. Really enjoyed the stay.

Review 88:Some of your staff Some of your staff in resption were tough and very bad. Tv was out of order for three days. The room's telephone was out of order and we couldn't talk the resption.

Review 89:It was good room.

Review 90:The water presure was very low. Even though I warned them about it, they only fixed it the last day of my stay, the fourth day.

Review 91:The location is prefect.

Review 92:Noise due to public work on the street and the house keeping , they was speaking so loud that they wake me up even with " No Distr." sign

Review 93:The location and the front disk was very helpful and show us the main points to visit

Review 94:A lot of noise from the street during the night, very noisy fan units at rear of hotel. Breakfast was awful, scrambled eggs were like rubber, if you come to this hotel I suggest you get breakfast elsewhere. No bar. Building work next door. Price was also expensive.

Review 95:Location is very central, room was clean, wifi worked.

Review 96:The rooms were small, and the walls were thin; we could not sleep because the family next to us argued in the middle of the night and we heard every single word to our room.

Review 97:First room they offer was smelling very very bad and also it was noisy because of street. After we complain about room they changed it.

Review 98:i had the traumatic experience of having been atributed not a hotel room, but a studio a little bit down the road. the studio was a first floor, 5m away from a bar door. no music at all could be heard, or nuissance from the bar, but the goups of people that gathered there until 4:00am, dind't let me sleep for over 15mins in a row. i regreted having chosen that hotel continuously through the night. at 4:30, when everybody seemd to have left, started the cleaning of the street, then the garbage collection, then the unloading of supllies to the stores. really regreted it.

Review 99:In a pedestrian area and not easy to find. Bert noisy at night. Poor state of repair and room poorly serviced.

Review 100:The central location is good. The price is reasonable.

Review 101:Hotel not well sign-posted - the writing on the glass door is easy to miss, and I did! Also, I had to walk up the rump for the main doors to open, ie instead of the stairs - not ideal. Staff at reception were not very attentive to the fact that I was outside trying to get in. Lack of availability of an adapter converter that I could borrow.

Review 102:The shower was great and also very clean. The fact that there was an iron room well-posted and you could use in your own time. The heater in the bathroom. Ability to control heater in bedroom.

Review 103:I'd recommend updating the images of the rooms to reflect all categories. I was in a smaller room that did not look like the images on the site. It was a bit of a disappointment.

Review 104:Loved the location and the bed was comfortable.

Review 105:Room needed a safe and tea/coffee making facilities.

Review 106:Ideally located near to the metro station and grand palace/main square, clean room, friendly staff. Would stay at this hotel again.

Review 107:The lighting in the hallway was next to none so this made finding the keyhole quite difficult. U never knew who else could have been lingering in the hallway.

Review 108:The staff was very friendly and the location was convenient. Excellent breakfast and room was very clean.

Review 109:Like the reviews, the studio appartment was in another building, which did not pose a problem at all infact it was great. The main problem is the noise coming out of the Irish pub across the road from 12:00 am to 5:00am. Even with the windows shut!! I was wearing earplugs and that solved the issue. I would insist on a room away from the Main Street.

Review 110:It's location, two minute walk to the historic square, you can't beat that. I walked everywhere and the metro station is at the end of the street!

Review 111:Nothing to write

Review 112:The stuff at the the reception was extremely friendly and did all to face our expectations. The studio was very nice, modern, clean, large and comfortable. The location is great: in the center and very near to all attractions of the city, 5 minutes drive to station and to the main street of restaurants. It was definitely a great choice.

Review 113:The location was amazing. Right in the middle of everything. I will definitely recommend this for travelers that want a not so expensive, but still clean room in the center of all the action! The room was a studio apartment not actually situated in the hotel itself, but down the street. This was okay still, but just be aware of that in advertising the hotel. Or when booking at least.

Review 114:- extremely slow elevator - ceiling was wet (due to the rain leaks)

Review 115:- nice breakfast selection - WiFi works perfect - Stylish room - location is perfect, so close the the Grand Place

Review 116:Noisy neighboorhood, especially during the night. Road work in progress near the hotel.

Review 117:The location is great, an effort was made on the design of the hotel.

Review 118:The pillows were just awful. When I asked for a new pillow I got another one that was equally bad. Also the hotel was a bit noisy.

Review 119:The location is very convenient, close to the central station and metros. The room looked quite nice and the bathroom was very big and clean.

Review 120:Not so much a bad experience just more basic hotel than I anticipated and for the money I spent

Review 121:Location was good for where I wanted to be that evening. Free wifi was important too as I needed to be able to get work done.

Review 122:Poor air handling system especially when hot.

Review 123:Location was excellent! Close to town centre and within walking distance of major attractions and public transport.

Review 124:No tea/coffee facility in room Only one working lift and stairs out of use Intermittent bad drain smell in bathroom

Review 125:Central location Wi fi availability close to amenities

Review 126:driving in central Brussels without a sat nav and a brain is a no no but once past that brilliant place to stay

Review 127:Loved the hotel snucked away right in central Brussels but getting to hotel consisted of road nightmare chaos over there currently that said staff were brilliant and hotel was fabulous lots of places to go and eat drink and enjoy the capital of the EU

Review 128:The apartment is located above a fish and chips shop, therefore the smell throughout the day was unpleasant. The apartment is also located on a noisy area, therefore sleeping was difficult.

Review 129:great location and price.

Review 130:No aircon, although it was a very hot night which normally should not happen often It is so central that there could be noise coming from the street all night. So better if your room is not facing the street.

Review 131:Facilities are good Super central Staff was helpful

Review 132:The staff forgot to give us the breakfast tickets when we checked in. We were asked for tickets during breakfast. They did give me the tickets later. Brussels was very hot during our stay but there was no air conditioner in the room, only a fan.

Review 133:Good location

Review 134:A gap between the floor and the door allows light from the corridor into the room at night.

Review 135:Excellent location for tourists. Friendly staff, decent comfort for less than 60 euro per single room.

Review 136:Elevator is really slow.

Review 137:This is a fantastic hotel in the centre of the city. Grand Place is two minutes walk away, la Bourse right in front of your window, and it's in a nice pedestrian street. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. This is a nice chocolate-theme boutique hotel. Room was comfortable, bathroom was big, although they didn't give toiletries on 2nd and 3rd day. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best we've had on this trip, rich with all sorts of food. Hotel itself is nicely maintained, has an elevator and a nice common room, staff are very helpful and kind, they speak English.Public parking was near. For the price that we paid, this was amazing, especially in Belgium. I recommend this hotel to everyone and I'd stay here again.

Review 138:Opposite the street, there is an irish pub. Every night we could not keep the window open because of the noise guest from irish pub were making.

Review 139:Great location, just a minute from metro station

Review 140:We reached to our room and entered in the bathroom... then we found a cigarette end in the toilet! The window was opened, we suppose the hotel employee took his/her cigarette break in our room. no mini-bar in the room.

Review 141:Wooden floor (I prefer than carpet). Good situated (near to Metro station). Very good breakfast.
