Reviews for Piece Hostel Kyoto
Review 1:I have nothing bad to say! It was that good!
Review 2:The staff were so friendly and spoke fluent English which was so helpful as my friend can't speak Japanese. Everything was so clean and the showers were absolutely amazing! Location was also superb as it was 2 minutes from Kyoto station.
Review 3:None
Review 4:Very near Kyoto station, good wifi, clean room, friendly staff. Note: we came by taxi, the hostel is in a small street so the driver struggled to find/ get in. If you walk, it should be fine.
Review 5:This Hostel is a little hard to find, hidden down a quiet little alleyway.
Review 6:Our stay at piece hostel was extremely enjoyable. The staff where very friendly and helpfull with all of our needs and questions. Very clean and well set out hostel with excellent facilities, and a 600m walk to the JR train. Would definitely stay here again in future!
Review 7:None!
Review 8:- great location! Only 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station - dynamic environment with bunch of young friends - staff speaks multi-languages - clean and comfort facilities - yummy free breakfast
Review 9:Absolutely nothing this hostel was amazing.
Review 10:This hostel was a gem! It was better than any hotel or any hotel I have ever stayed at they made it so easy to be a solo traveller and meet new people and they were really involved in getting to know all the people staying at the hostel it was very clean and the staff were amazing and it was so central to the train station especially good if you are going all over Japan with a lot of luggage the elevator was really helpful for that too. The beds were the comfiest I've ever stayed in. The kitchen was always clean and really this hostel is amazing stay there I never write reviews for these things but this one definitely deserved a review.
Review 11:Nothing !
Review 12:How clean the place is. I have to many UK and European hostels but I found that this Japanese hostel beats them all even the expensive one at the foot of Jung Frau Mountain in Switzerland !
Review 13:Everything has been pleasant during our stay. The layout of the beds in the mixed dorm gives a lot of privacy to be a shared room. The hostel is really close to the train and bus stations.
Review 14:Our room had a very annoying whistling sound when the A/C and heating was on, due to a small hole in the window. We spent about an hour with a member of staff trying to fix it by plugging the holes with bits of paper, but then were eventually moved to another room. Unfortunately, this room also had the same problem so we decided to switch the heating off to get some sleep. The place was also very expensive - not sure if it was worth it.
Review 15:We decided to stay at one on the two Piece Hostels because of the great photos we saw online of the architecture and interior design. It was good, but not as nice as it looked in the photos. The place was very clean, and the staff were very friendly. Beds were amazing and very large. There was a very nice communal space with fancy iMacs and a nice kitchen/dining area for everyone to use. Breakfast was a nice touch, but you do pay for it in the high rent. Location is great - 5mins from the main station.
Review 16:The breakfast could be further improved. The matress a bit too soft.
Review 17:Great location. Very modern and clean facilities, especially the self-service kitchen, bathroom and shower room. The bed is really large. Staff helpful and nice. Very good interior design.
Review 18:No ensuite rooms available, but we knew it in advance so it wasn't a problem.
Review 19:The place is new and very well clean and looked after! The staff is amazing.
Review 20:Didn't end up talking to other travelers, but that's not the hostel's fault. Just an older crowd and couples.
Review 21:They held onto our luggage before check in, the staff was nice and friendly, beds were big and comfy with good privacy, breakfast included, good Wi-Fi throughout the building.
Review 22:Suggest that Piece Hostel charge for the breakfast, say 400 ¥. This way the mad rush by the Chinese and Korean couples can be avoided.
Review 23:すごくクリンです。新しい施設のでいいんです。 This is very nice facility with clean showers and friendly staff. Stay in a private room.
Review 24:Constant humming from some sort of ventilation that we couldn't get rid of in the room. It was a bit noisy at first and then you learn to live with it.
Review 25:Receptionists were super friendly and helpful, breakfast was good
Review 26:private twin bed room is too small.(We prefer the double bed room which suit for family)
Review 27:near Kyoto station, free breakfast (rice, soup, pickle, coffee, bread), have a shared kitchen for cooking.
Review 28:Rooms are tiny but it's Japan
Review 29:Nice and friendly staff; fantastic location; good information of the city available; delicious breakfast though if a bit crowded; comfortable room (though a bit small); architecturally pleasing building.
Review 30:nothing.
Review 31:Interior and exterior design (including terrace) is very good. There are various type of rooms, so we could stay in a couple room with low cost and were very satisfied.
Review 32:Nothing to dislike ;)
Review 33:The best hostel stay I've had to date. The place was very accessible to the nearby Kyoto station, the place itself is simple but functional, very clean and well maintained, staff was very accommodating and friendly. Even the 18bed dorm room was surprisingly comfy. Both check-in and check-out was straightforward and easy. I would definitely come back here and bring my friends even. Very good value for money!
Review 34:All the staff were friendly and helpful especially Rui.help me few times The kitchen was clean n fully equipped and I enjoyed cooking together with my daughter. Even the housekeeper n the cleaners were nice n see to everyone comfort. Very good. Location is good. Very near all the bus stations n train stations.oh yes. The breakfast was all really good
Review 35:Room is really small
Review 36:Near to JR station. Shared shower room is better than expected. Hostel is bright & lively. They allow us to store luggage 1 day before stay
Review 37:- bed is too soft that made my back a little bit hurt. - the hostel located in small lane and there is no street lamp. Therefore, it was very dark in the night.
Review 38:- Staff spoke Emglish very well. - Hostel is very new and modern style. - shared bathrooms were excellent and they provided bath shower, shampoo and conditioner. - free breakfast.
Review 39:Breakfast must have some sausages and hams The price is not that expensive but not so cheap
Review 40:Clean bed Helpful English spoken staffs Speedy free wifi Good breakfast Clean toilet and bathroom
Review 41:-I drank my morning coffee trying to ignore of a woman in pajamas screaming at her child ... - Too much grey, no joy, no vibe...
Review 42:If I think at location, staff, facilities, etc... Yes, was...good, nothing bad to say.
Review 43:I loved it! It was conveniently located, clean and beautiful! It made me feel more comfortable than any other hostel I've stayed at. Felt like a hotel almost.
Review 44:Some group-tourist have broken the rules by talking loudly with each other while the others, including me, in shared room was sleeping. So noisy like a swarm of bumble bees.
Review 45:Very nice staffs. The potato salad was great. Comfy bed sheet.
Review 46:Only the room is a bit small but the bed is very big.
Review 47:all Staffs are very helpful. I particularly thank you to one of the staff,Mino, he helped my family to sort out the accommodation problem when my travel agent accidentally cancelled my 3 nights booking with piece hostel. I was stressed to solve the problem with travel agent, meanwhile,Mino searched other accommodation for us.Finally We stayed at a nearby hotel. He is a very friendly and helpful fellow. Thank you all friendly staffs.
Review 48:limited of toilet room only one male and one female on each floor but this is not problem
Review 49:-close to JR station -room was clean -shower room was ckean
Review 50:Clothes hanger (from Ikea) was not secured and fell off the wall. Walkway to hostel is quite dark at night.
Review 51:Stayed in king size bedroom on the top floor. Hostel is very clean and situated in a convenient location. Bath towels and room slippers are provided. Overall, value for money.
Review 52:Everything! Not only it's a great place to stay, but the staff is really welcoming and kind. They have helped me every time I asked for something and they were always with a smile. Definetely a great place to stay! Also is close to Kyoto Station were you can take a bunch of buses to every place or temple you wanna go.
Review 53:I was impressed by how new and clean everything looked. It is close to the train station and easy to reach any destination in the city. The breakfast was yummy, the bed enormous and the stuff super kind. I really had a great stay there.
Review 54:The place is so beautiful. Staff was friendly. Space was well-designed, everything was incredibly clean, the shower was heavenly. Not to mention our bed was huuuge and very comfortable.
Review 55:Maybe a little far from 'the action' of Gion, but not really a big problem as transportation is good.
Review 56:Great! So clean and comfortable. The staff were delightful.
Review 57:It can be a little hard to find the hotel if you don't search for it beforehand, because the Hostel is in a small street.
Review 58:Friendly staff. clean room, bath and toilets. Good breakfast. Just in the side of Kyoto station.
Review 59:Although the hostel is near JR Kyoto Station which I find convenient, you have to walk at least 10-15 minutes to get to the place. I don't find it a major drawback, though. Just a tip for travelers who will be bringing a huge luggage and don't want to walk that much.
Review 60:I like the coziness and welcoming vibe of the place and all the facilities you can use while staying at the hostel - kitchen, clean shower and WC, hair dryer (useful since I went to Kyoto in time for autumn), and basically the all-smile staff who is always willing to help
Review 61:There was no lights off curfew which meant that the lights remained on till 1am which stopped me from sleeping. Each individual bunk had their own lamp so having the dormitory lights out wouldn't have been a problem and would've made sleeping easier for those who wished to sleep before midnight.
Review 62:This hostel was immaculate and clean and the beds were comfy. The facilities inc, wifi and breakfast provided was fantastic too.
Review 63:The twin bunk beds room is small and we have to put all our luggages on the floor with little room to move. The heater/air conditioner is centralised, making it difficult to adjust temperature to our liking. The showers are all on the ground floor which is troublesome if you are staying on the second floor.
Review 64:We like the location, the price, the free and generous breakfast (Western and Japanese style), the compact design, the power shower and the cleanliness of the bathroom and toilets. There is a TV in the room and the stepped stairs makes it safer to go up to the upper bunk bed. Good internet connection in all floors.
Review 65:No bad experiences to speak of
Review 66:Piece Hostel is situated in a great location near the kyoto station. The facilities, cleaniness and modern interiors, exceeded what I expected from my stay and I genuinely recommend it to anyone going to kyoto! I stayed in the mixed dorm and even though there were about 10+ you still felt like you could have some alone time without disturbance.
Review 67:Private rooms were a little small and didn't have much room for big luggage.
Review 68:Clean, free breakfast, good toilets, friendly and helpful staff. Also had super cheap bike rentals!
Review 69:Kitchen area cramped and people were bumping into each other. Atmosphere more like a hotel where people didn't really seem to talk to each other (might have been due to the group of people staying there at the time)
Review 70:Excellent location just several minutes from Kyoto Station. Facilities were very clean, really good hot showers. Communal areas nice and bright. Comfortable bed (we stayed in a double room). Lovely 1st floor terrace area. Nice breakfast (rice, miso soup, bread). Excellent value for money
Review 71:Well, the environment is good but the location is hard to find and there are few restaurants near the hotel.
Review 72:I love your breakfast and overall environment !! It is so relaxing for we,tourists, to enjoy our time especially after a whole exhausting day.
Review 73:rooms are really small - there's not much room for luggage
Review 74:very clean room, toilets and shower well-designed hostel staff is very kind and speaks well English everything is well organised free breakfast with potato salad close to Kyoto station (10' walk) great value for price
Review 75:too bad about shared room. but i think its oke if i stayed with my traveler mate.
Review 76:i really like about interior design, nice staff and also very delish breakfast menu. i love stayed there, very friendly and strategic near from Kyoto Station by walk.
Review 77:None, really. Since there are shared dorms and spaces in the hostel, some guests can be a bit noisy, but that's not really the hostel's fault, right? And there are a lot of reminders everywhere anyway that remind guests to be mindful of other guests as well as neighbors. So... none overall.
Review 78:This hostel was obviously built with the budget traveler in mind. The facilities and amenities were well thought of to cater to active travelers and the location is great as it is near Kyoto Station which is the central hub for transportation in the city. You can enjoy a comfortable stay even at an affordable price, so it's totally great value for your money. Love how the staff are so friendly and efficient too. A lot of facilities are shared but I've never seen them dirty. Overall it was a comfortable stay and everything went smoothly.
Review 79:Nothing
Review 80:Excellent location, very near to the train station. Comfortable dorm bed curtain for privacy. Breakfast option includes Japanese style rice and pickle, and western style breads.
Review 81:It can't be helped. The location, south of Kyoto Station, is quite isolated and boring. Supermarket is far.
Review 82:Everything in the hostel is awesome. They provide breakfast!
Review 83:Coming out of Karasama Oike, ; couldn't determine which direction to go to PHK. I asked a local Kyoto man which direction to Kamo River. Then turned on Google Map for step by step instructions. The walk to PHK was lined with fashionable stores and restaurants, which was a relief, as night had fallen. A quick right turn at Mie Miel Honey Shop, and you are there after 50 meters.
Review 84:Shower amenities: same as Sheraton. Bed: clean and comfortable. Toilets: techno comfort. Breakfast: Delicious rice. Laundry: laundry detergent automatically dispenses. Location: superb. Staff: youthful, courteous and professional.
Review 85:the late check in : 3 PM !!!!
Review 86:The location, very next to Kyoto station The staff is great Overall the property of the hostel The quality price ratio
Review 87:Very functionable hotel. The bed is comfortable. You can pick the second pillow if you dont like the pillow provided in the room. There are 6 shower rooms sperated for mail and femail which are very clean. And there is a dry zone inside each shower room so that you can change your clothes without getting them wet. Would recommend for the budget travelers!!
Review 88:Private double only just fit the bed in but had a sink and TV. I really liked this hostel, super clean and new and shiny. Cooking night and free breakfast was good too.
Review 89:The fact that this hostel actually located behind the Kyoto Station.
Review 90:Dorm was spacious and private. And I like the powder room and of course their free breakfast is worth to try.
Review 91:- Breakfast very simple and it was crowded in breakfast room. But overall, for the price we paid I can't complain. - The concrete look of the room.
Review 92:- Private room was small but the bed was very comfortable and big. - English speaking staff, clean room and clean shared facilities, and I did not have to wait one day for the showers. - Big plus: the message board next to reception was great: all the sightseeings and what bus or train to take. Fantastic idea! - Nice activity organised by staff for the guests: make your own okonomiyaki! (japanese pancake). Never ate that before, thank you for the experience.
Review 93:The Hotel not far from Kyoto station but not eassy to find it . I get lost when looking for this hostel.
Review 94:The staff are helpfull and always full smile make me comport. At hotel have big map so we are eassy to find places that we wanna visit. The hotel have kitchen so we can make it food too.
Review 95:The breakfast was free but I personally did not like it very much. The bread was stale. You have to pay if you want fruits, although to be fair, it is not very expensive.
Review 96:It was cheap and even though the bathrooms were shared, they were very clean. It is also very close to Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. They were also kind enough to let me use the shower before check-in time.
Review 97:the double room was tiny with not much space to put luggage etc we had a room for 6 nights but they never cleaned the room (but new towels were provided for free at the reception whenever we asked for them)
Review 98:great location at the back side of Kyoto station, each morning we knew we could take the train from the station in less than 10'. friendly staff, nice lobby with cafe/bar (they have a great white wine) and shared kitchen to have breakfast (simple but nice) or prepare dinner later in the evening. Peaceful place although full booked and many showers (with free sampoo etc and lot of space to put clothes/towels). Free wi-fi with good signal in most areas
Review 99:Our room was very small with not much floor area for our bags but it was ok for a couple of nights. the location was good for taking the train but in terms of good restaurants we didn't find many close by- had to look further afield.
Review 100:The facilities were fantastic and so clean. The staff were lovely. Good coffee and fruit available. Comfy big bed. Rooftop view. Easy to find from train station. Bikes for hire at reasonable price.
Review 101:The location is great for getting to the station, but not so much for getting to the Kyoto sights.
Review 102:The only hostel using Western-style matrasses I've seen in all of my travels in Japan, and by far the biggest beds (1.20 m wide). The hostel is very modern, clean and spacious. Free breakfast, slippers and towels are available, as well as free rice balls, coffee and tea all day. As I needed to leave very early in the morning (6 am), the staff even proposed to make me a small packed breakfast the night before!
Review 103:Hope the room can be more like home. Hmm, it's like the ward/cell. And we wish every floor has a bathroom to take a shower! We live on the top floor (4th floor) and we have to go to the 1st floor to take a shower.
Review 104:1)The breakfast is delicious! We have plum rice and different bread to choose. And also salad and tea! 2) The hostel is near Kyoto station, but when we closed the window, we cannot hear any noise! Yeah! 3) Very close to Kyoto Station. We asked the Information Counter in Station and they told us it's behind a hotel called "Center.....". And it's really easy to find! Because so many people have asked them!
Review 105:Breakfast was excellent, showers and toilets absolutely spotless at all times & you can rent a bike for just 500 yen per day. Slept very well here and really enjoyed our stay.
Review 106:It is a little bit hard to find it in the map. We got lost for 30minutes and it was raining.. Wished they provide us more detail info on the location
Review 107:This hostel is surprisingly very near to kyoto subway terminal whoch is perfect for day 2 day sightseeing. I stayed in the private double room and it was perfect. We can choose our own pillow type, thick medium or thin.. and the staff is very friendly.
Review 108:Comfortable bed, privacy, they let me store my bags before and after checkout, the bathrooms and showers were very clean! I will stay a gain and recommend this place to friends.
Review 109:1. Unbelievable cheap price in peak season, only 6900 yen per night for a dom for 2 2. Bed is soft and cozy with stairs to the upper bedstead which saves climbing up. 3. Shampoo&body soap are Pola, which are the same as those we used in Onsen hotels 4. Breakfast is amazing, I would highly recommend potato salad So if you are traveling with a friend and want to save budget but still keep your private space, I would highly recommend the 2-person dom in this hostel
Review 110:The alley back to hostel at night was dark. Should have a signage in front of the alley we need to turn it.
Review 111:Located very near to the main station. Cosy feel within the hostel. Very spacious common bathroom.
Review 112:Becareful, the address is a lit bit hidden, but well located
Review 113:Everything is clean, the price is cheap and it is a vaery cool place and have a cool staf!
Review 114:Everyone is really quite in the mix door rooms. So, i feel i am disturbing when packing things
Review 115:The facilities are clean, value for money, brekkie included and really close to kyoto station. I reccomend ! Do rent a bike!
Review 116:maybe it would be better if having vending machine esp for Food
Review 117:the concept of the hostel the toiletries (soap, shampoo and conditioner) the location very near to Kyoto Station
Review 118:I was staying upper bed in a bunk bed. It was hard to climb because the stairs was moving when you climb.
Review 119:Actually I liked everything about this hostel. Really big and comfortable bed, wide selection of breakfast for a hostel, clean bathroom and toilets, the perfect location that is just few minutes far from Kyoto Station.
Review 120:The amenities were absolutely sensational, the staff were friendly and free breakfast is always nice. I found the location very good and could not fault the property at all. This is one of the best (if not THE best) hostels I have ever stayed in.
Review 121:None.
Review 122:Awesome , relaxing ,cozy, clean room/bed , Chill lounge bar/cafe. Will definitely choose here next time. I love the room design style.
Review 123:Nothing.
Review 124:Everything was completely new and services were good (breakfast and shower rooms on top), the staff was very nice and could speak very good english. Also, the location at 2 minutes walk from Kyoto Station was perfect for my purposes. All considered, it was also really cheap.
Review 125:The bunk bed room (I was booked 1 private bunk bed and 1 dorm female) the Dorm female was good and the private bunk bed was too small but overall good
Review 126:I like the pantry and the breakfast!
Review 127:Nothing much except the location is honestly not as close as people said. There is a lot of walking from one side of Kyoto Station (where the bus depart) to the other (where the hostel is). And the showers are all on the first floor when there are total 4 floors in this building (rooms are on 2nd - 4th floor). And if anyone sleeps in the dorm try to get the upper bed. You will not be able to sleep if you have the lower bed and the person above you moves around a lot.
Review 128:The hostel is very clean. I especially think the bathroom and shower is actually quite nice as a hostel standard. The single room is decent as you have enough room to open a suitcase. With the price I think it is a good choice.
Review 129:Rooms are very small, comfortable enough but small. Location a bit difficult to find at first but (see positives) American music while familiar it would have been nice for more worldly tunes
Review 130:Staff were welcoming and friendly, very close to the station, alleyway well lit, comfortable to walk at most times of day and evening. Breakfast is nice, different "special bread" each morning. There was a free dinner party. Great kitchen facilities. AMAZING SHOWER! AMAZING. Nice roof terrace for eating, and viewing Kyoto.
Review 131:The staff were so friendly, great location right next to Kyoto main station so great transport links around the city. The facilities were also great with a bar, laundry, free tea/coffees, free shampoo, conditioner and anything else you may need.
Review 132:free wifi without password every floor free breakfast bread and salad also rice and tea and comfortable both bathroom and everywhere exactly. lots of information and i mac we can use what can we ask more amazing here Piece Hostel Kyoto
Review 133:Piece Hostel was one of the best hostelling experiences I've ever had. The facilities were spotless and very well designed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was terrific. The location is right next to Kyoto station, so that can't be beat and the bike rentals are perfect for exploring the city. Would definitely love to stay here again.
Review 134:Position is near kyoto station and facilities are modern, looking bright, enough shower room and clean. If i have the chance to kyoto i will choose it again.
