Review 1：This hotel is walking distance from the beach, with nice restaurants and bars. Rooms are basic, but very good value for money. Staff are courteous and helpful.

Review 2：Food in restaurant was just terrible. Breakfast was OK, dinner was not. There were also some hot water problems.

Review 3：Friendly and helpful staff. Close to the beach and Galle Road. Very clean and daily fresh towel etc. Some electricity problems, but were taken care off immediately.

Review 4：The hot water pump - there was a special pump you had to turn on for hot water on level 3. I was always in the shower before I remembered to turn it on, then the process of dressing myself to go out and turn it on seemed like too much effort, so i just took cold showers.

Review 5：Staff were very helpful and friendly. Always at hand to book cabs/trishaws and give advice about how we could get around and what to see. Rooms were well kept and clean with AC and free wifi. There was also complimentary breakfast buffet every morning.

Review 6：We were happy with the room we got (with 2 double bed) which was suitable for our group comprising 4 adults, 1 child, 1 infant. Though we book 2 double bed rooms for 1 night when we check into the hotel in the night found the hotel reserved 1 double room for 2 nights. We were lucky the hotel had available a room with 2 double beds. The night staff was pleasant and we were happy with the service he accorded to us.

Review 7：Very friendly and helpful stuff, reading the wishes from the mind. The beach is 3 minutes from tropic inn, take care with the train, which is crossing. But the sr lanken people also will take care of you. The restaurant is also good. And the breakfast buffet doesn't let any wish open. Mmmmhhhh

Review 9：The hotel is very well run with extremely helpful staff particularly Lasitha. The hotel staff are always making sure the hotel is 100% clean and so make it an enjoyable stay.

Review 10：Really great and helpful staff. The hostel's location in Mount Lavinia seems a lot better than in busy Colombo itself. Also, the short train ride to Colombo city centre is picturesque.

Review 12：Excellent location, just a stone throw from the beach (be careful whencrossing the railway) with rooms spotless clean and superfast wi-fi.Maybe a bit tiny, but if you are meant to be there for the "beachlife" you are supposed not to stay long in your hotel room. Staffis just fantastic: Always helpful and smiling. Food (dinner and lunch)is good and cooked to order, breakast is Sri lankan style and it issimply outstanding

Review 13：They should have more staff in the kitchen. Only one person for cooking and serving is too little. The man did his very best but we felt a bit sorry for him.

Review 17：A helpful cheerful member of staff who saw to us immediately and gave us cold soft drinks and a water bottle each whilst the room was being prepared. he also carried our back packs up three flights of stairs.

Review 18：Accomodation was clean and comfortable and secure. Madam and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Having stayed here several times, I don't look elsewhere. Close to the beach, Mount Lavinia Hotel, Galle Road, it is a good location. For young ones wishing to party, there are several nightclubs in walking distance. Bookings can be made through the hotel for any trips to other parts of the island.

Review 36：It was our only one day in Sri Lanka and I was very happy to enjoy the real local food from your kitchen. The morning buffet was excellent. In one meal i got to try about 7 different authentic local foods!

Review 37：My room was not the cleanest, but livable. I got sick from the breakfast one day. If you are planning a rest and relaxation trip to Sri Lanka and would like to spend a majority of your time by the pool or ocean, I would recommend paying the extra $40 a night and staying at the nearby Mount Lavinia hotel. There is not much of a 'relaxing' element here. However, if you will be exploring Sri Lanka and just need a place to lay your head at night, the Tropic Inn is a good choice!

Review 38：The staff was helpful in arranging travel and outings to nearby Colombo, and were quite knowledgeable. The location is lovely--right up the street from the beach, and easy access to Colombo.

Review 39：Location, as very close to beach. Staff was very good and good breakfast. Also stayed at Mount Lavinia Hotel but for location to bars and beach restaurants this was far superior, not to mention two thirds of the price.
