Locanda Ca Dei Duxi

Locanda Ca Dei Duxi descritpion
Locanda Ca’ dei Duxi is set in the center of Cinque Terre’s first village in a characteristic 15th-century building. Walk to the sea in 5 minutes from here.
The Locanda is typically Ligurian in its architecture, featuring stone walls and wooden ceilings. Its history is still visible in many places, including in the breakfast room, which was once a wine cellar where the famous local Sciacchetrà wine was made.
The Ca’ dei Duxi offers friendly service in a convenient location. The station is a 5-minute walk away, as is the town’s parking lot. Just step out of your door to find yourself surrounded by the typical sights and sounds of this beautiful little village.

Reviews for Locanda Ca Dei Duxi
Review 1:The place is not easy to find, but if you are equipped with GPS, there should be little problem. Shower curtain is not wide enough to cover both ends of the shower area completely, thus causing water to splash onto the floor, and flow into the bedroom. Again this is not a big issue to me as floor mat is provided.
Review 2:Very helpful receptionist (a young lady), who runs through most information normally required by guests upon check-in. Powerful air-conditioning that keeps me warm, and dry the clothes too.
Review 3:Nothing. I would recomend this to everyone
Review 4:I liked everything about this place. The breakfast was awesome, the room was spacious, well appointed and clean. The staff were friendly. The location was superb....so close to the train station, shops and walks. Riomaggiore is a beatiful village.
Review 5:There was Always somebody in the reception area. The room was clean and the bed had lovely soft White sheets and was very comfortable. The Locanda is not far from the station and easy to find.
Review 6:The fridge in my room was very noisy and I had to unplug it in the end to get to sleep. Tea and coffee-making facilities would have been nice in the room too. Breakfast was mediocre - dry cake, greasy ham and cheese. I would have been prepared to save €5-10 and go to one of the excellent local cafés for breakfast instead.
Review 7:Great location in the middle of Riomaggiore and very helpful staff who spoke excellent English.
Review 8:sorry, but i didn't like this hotel the 2 women in the reception were polite but not warm and even cinical the room was small not so clean and had some technical problems. one of them was a broken toilet seat which is not nice
Review 9:There is no view so don't expect one.
Review 10:This small hotel is just at the top end of the village so you don't have to carry bags too far. Staff are very friendly. Breakfafst is good. I stayed here back in 2011 and would definitely stay again.
Review 11:The pictures are deceiving. My room was very small, and when I opened the window all I could see was the neighbor's laundry area. No internet conexion unless you seat in front of the reception door. Ps.: reception door is accross the street, a different building. I didn't like the fact they demanded payment before I even saw my room, it made sense when I saw the space, most ppl would ask for their money back.
Review 12:Riomaggiore is wonderful and the place is well located. Clean.
Review 13:The staff was neither friendly nor helpful. No one would help us with our luggage up three flights of steep stairs. The railing on the staircase was loose and unsafe. The breakfast was fine but short time.
Review 14:Lack of information on some train stations getting there, there is nobody to help except on track one at the booking office, so if your unlucky and don't come in on track one, you have to go down the subway steps and up the other side to track one just to find out you have go back down the subway to the appropriate track for the train connection, all this while lugging your baggage. Even the posted timetable had the wrong tack listed, some station had monitors on the platform, which were playing commercials or something. The trick here is to travel light, to save your back on all those steps.
Review 15:Riomaggiore is a beautiful place to visit, and this hotel was Cozy and comfortable, breakfast was good, and so was the staff.
Review 16:noisy neighbor in room next door kept us up till 2am first nite. room was 37 steep steps up from street, no railing for support. No eggs or hot food breakfast items.
Review 17:we liked the town, small refrig. in room.good water pressure in shower.friendly/helpful staff at breakfast.
Review 18:Please dont book at this place. We booked here for 4 nights, but left the place after 1 night without any compensation. We made the mistake to pay (€540) emmidiately at arrival, before seeing the rooms. We felt misguided by the organization after seeing the actual room they want to put us in. You dont get the room you booked, the pictures on booking.com dont match with the actual room. In reality: - The bed room is really small (9m2) - It is extremely dirty, dust is everywhere - it smells terrible at the staircase - Staff was not friendly and willing to understand us - Breakfast is not good and served in a small stuffy room Conclusion: what you get is not what you booked and the price is way to high! So please dont book this!
Review 19:Airconditioning
Review 20:No view from the room.
Review 21:Good location, although a bit of a hike up the hill with luggage. Room small, but adequate. Air conditioning a real plus! Helpful staff.
Review 22:I was in the top, floor and there were way too many stairs. Should be advised of room location as part of the booking process. Was difficult to get luggage up and down by self with no staff assitance
Review 23:Staff and the town and the communication prior to arrival giving instructions for finding accomodation on arrival in riomaggiore
Review 24:The room was a bit old and the bathroom was small. There was no Wifi in the room. Wifi was available in the street in front of the reception. No parking so we had to rely on public parking which is always crowded!
Review 25:The location is great and the staff was nice. It was not too far from the public parking.
Review 26:Front desk staff was rude, acted like we were a hassle.
Review 27:Location was great! Perfect for a home base if you want to take the hike to the other towns. Vertical Bar down the street was fun, friendly staff and other travelers.
Review 28:The rooms were a little small and shower bathroom facilities were average. There could have been a bit more variety at breakfast.
Review 29:Location was great and it was easy to get to and they were able to get us parking which is important in the region.
Review 30:funky smell from bathroom and everytime after cleaning they would leave its door open so you entered a room with nasty smell no view from the window ( basically a wall in front of us) breakfast is poor They could have cleaned the ceiling of the room summary: way too expensive for what you get
Review 31:city center
Review 32:No choice. 65euro is too expencive i think.30euro is enough for that room. But now is peak season and look like more bad consdition around shòre. Wifi very weak.! .i wont back there.
Review 33:Aircondition good.
Review 34:The room was perfect, lovely triple aspect in heart of village. Checked in in one building, room in another and breakfast another but all fun and funny and we were very well looked after. Would stay again
Review 35:43 high stair steps up to the room, no open reception after 21:00 in the evening.
Review 36:Good breakfast and the "breakfast lady" was very kindly and service minded
Review 37:This was the only place to insist on full payment immediately on arrival, even before seeing room. It is situated near the top of the town, so a long arduous walk uphill + steps when arriving by train, then a further climb up steps to reach the entrance to the rooms (separate section of building from reception & breakfast in another building again). If you are going to Riomaggiore for a beachside holiday (we weren't) then choose Monterosso instead.
Review 38:We found Riomaggiore a delightful place and would like to go back there. We visited all 5 Cinque Terre villages and considered Riomaggiore the most picturesque. It is hilly of course. Some great upper hill walks (need to be appropriately outfitted), but the coastal trails often advertised are nearly all closed (except for Monterosso to Vernazza). There are plenty of little restaurants, including some very good ones, but with very reasonable prices, plus plenty of little food stores for self catering. The room we had was OK, but small, limited facilities, limited natural light. Breakfast was OK, not special, in a cramped room. However this is an historic old village, so no modern developments and I expect everything will be small/cramped, with stairs etc, as that is the nature of the place. To modernise it would likely destroy the charm and atmosphere.
Review 39:Tiny but functional bathroom
Review 40:Reception staff (all) very helpful, no problem with English. Breakfast, especially the coffee, is great value in the little cellar. Good place to stay after a good day's walking. All in all I was impressed given the price, season and location.
Review 41:the hotel room I was booked in was in a building opposite the hotel office. breakfast was in another building. While they are near each other, it does not give you the sense that you are booked in a hotel.
Review 42:the room was clean
Review 43:The furniture smell was really strong, and the attic ceiling a bit low. It was a little far from the beach compared to other rooms for the same price.
Review 44:Courtyard was decorated with plants and antiques. The room was attractively furnished.
Review 45:No complaints. We would happily stay here again.
Review 46:Great location (in town but just far enough away from the late-night noisy spots). Bright, airy, spacious room with 2 windows and interesting views. Very clean and bathroom updated. VERY comfortable bed. Good breakfast with every possible coffee selection freshly brewed/prepared. The breakfast attendant was especially friendly, efficient, attentive.
Review 47:Beware of the stairs, please carry a backpack if possible :-) You can hear noise from your neighbours (thin walls) so earplugs are useful. Breakfast was quite good for Italian standards!
Review 48:Great location on main street. Old building, room was small but modern. Very clean room (shower, toilet, bed, everything!). I asked per e-mail to get a room with a balcony (as a surprise for my mom) and we got it, and happily enjoyed our view every morning. Friendly staff who helped us find the right walking path and train to reach the airport.
Review 49:The bathroom was ridiculously small and the bedroom was not much better. We had to haul our suitcases up 4 flights of narrow stairs. Breakfast was basic. Coffee was good.
Review 50:We were met by the lady in charge who made us feel that we were an unwelcome necessity!. Any request for assistance or information was met with a condescending or indifferent attitude.
Review 51:Breakfast was excellent and lady in charge of kitchen was lovely.
Review 52:Marginal Internet, go stand outside the office for a proper signal.
Review 53:simple clean room with no view, and ok breakfast.Good for an overnight stopover.Reasonably priced
Review 54:The breakfast (which is provided by a cafe down the road) is extremely poor. The first morning we were there, it was so sparse that many people were left hungry. They were super angry and it was literally a fight for survival. There was only one lady managing the breakfast (who didn’t smile even once) and it was obvious she couldn’t manage. When she replenished the few breakfast items they were enough literally for 3 people and then again everything was empty and you need to wait at least for 10 mins until you can find something to eat. The second morning, the lady opened the cafe late but at least there were a little bit more items. The freshly baked croissants are nice, but the breakfast is ridiculous in general, just very disappointing and it desperately needs improving. The last day we were late leaving the hotel not only because the lady at the breakfast opened late and started serving the food late, but also the elderly lady at the hotel’s reception was not able to calculate how much money and city tax we owe. She needed 10mins only to realise how much is 108 plus 4.
Review 55:The rooms are pleasant, the balcony is very handy with a nice view, there’s kettle and tea facility, the atmosphere is warm.
Review 56:You could hear your neighbors in adjacent rooms, but there wasn't much noise from outside.
Review 57:The room and bathroom were very large and clean. Staff friendly. Location convenient. You can easily adjust the room termperature as you prefer.
Review 58:Breakfast, cleaness and smell of the room, the refrigerator toooo noisy, bed too uncomfortable. They charged us the first night though we called to say that we were going to be late and they replied that they wouldn't wait for us.
Review 59:Riomaggiore is the best place to stay in between the 5 villages. The room we stayed in had no view and we were thinking very mch our return.
Review 60:Paper thin wall between room 12 and 13, cold shower one night, smallest TV I have seen in a hotel room, two single beds pushed together to make a double, checkout and checkin reception was not manned.
Review 61:Location was good, wifi was fine
Review 62:A maggot crawled out of our breakfast whilst we were eating on our first day, needless to say we did not take advantage of the complimentary breakfast again. Kitchen did not seem very clean. We were on the top floor so had to go up 4 flights of narrow stairs with suitcases to reach it. Room was meters away from the church bell which was very noisy. No wifi
Review 63:Lovely location (apart from the proximity to the huge noisy church bell) with a view of the water and sunset. Spacious room.
Review 64:Breakfast was a bit limited, bread was gone before the breakfast had finished and the lady there didn't seem to care. It's next to the church and church bells were ringing many times during night and morning. Overall, a bit overpriced for what it offers but I guess Cinque Terre is an expensive area anyway
Review 65:The attic rooms were nice, the location was good (not difficult as the town is pretty small), it was clean and had all basic amenities
Review 66:Located a short walk up the hill in Riomaggiore, 5/10 mins walk from the railway station, slightly shorter to the small harbour. Bars and restaurants nearby. Decent breakfast in a small room across the road from the rooms
Review 67:When we checked in the receptionist was only interested in getting payment in advance for our three days stay and did not provide any local tourism information. In the room there is no Wifi or cell phone reception. The room was very dark. There are better options available.
Review 68:The location was good.
Review 69:Such a tiny bathroom we could hardly fit around the door to get in, and we're not big people. Too expensive per night for what you get, a small basic room.
Review 70:Location, right on the Main Street of Riomaggiore, close to cafes and bars, and the waterfront.
Review 71:Facilities to get baggage to room was poor especially with the climb to room. Notification that transport from the station was available would have been helpfull
Review 72:The view from the balcony was pleasant , good facilities in the room, good location, breakfast was of high quality and staff excellent
Review 73:Many, many steps - not good for elderly. Also church next door rings a loud bell periodically.
Review 74:The town is lovely and the little hotel charming. Staff friendly and the breakfast good with yogurt, American coffee, pastries. Had clean, good sized bathroom.
Review 75:Very steep climb with luggage from station. You need to be fit and nimble, lots of stairs to climb, inside and out.
Review 76:The building was quirky. On a separate street to reception and breakfast room.Area has character. Breakfast room staff friendly.
Review 77:Dirty bathroom torn shower curtain with mould and ants. Unfriendly staff who didn't show any interest in my complaint nor responded to it. Never again.
Review 78:you have to go uphill a bit with your suitcase, that was a bit challenging. Day shift Staff wasn't very kind but night shift people were very nice.
Review 79:You can have breakfast in a home-made style atmosphere. Generally everything was good. My room was small but it wasn't a problem. Sunshine comes into room a lot, so I liked that.
Review 80:Our bed was made of two beds ... not that compfortable in our case.
Review 81:The small streets in which this hotel is nested are marvellous. Like all these small towns the atmosphere. Breakfast is not more than ordinary, but sufficient. Kind staff and clean room: all you need.
Review 82:Access to our room required some agility! Might not suit all. Thin walls between some rooms.
Review 83:Wonderful 14thC building.Lots of character, well equipped room
Review 84:the fact that they have parking spots for rent and they say that you don't need a reservation for one.Reservation is needed so all of their parking spots were occupied when we arrived and instead of 10eur/night we payed 23 euro/night at the public parking area.
Review 85:location and breakfast were very good
Review 86:Church bells right beside hotel ring at 7am. Balcony table could have been cleaner. Expensive for a small room. More than a 5 minute walk uphill from the station.
Review 87:Good location. Good, quiet air con. Balcony with town view. Good breakfast.
Review 88:It would be a good idea to alert potential guests to the church bells marking every hour and half hour. Charming touch but for some a sleep inhibitor.
Review 89:being on the main road meant we were disturbed from early morning (which the bell chimes that go off at 7am, utility/ van drivers too early in the morning, and late night by tourists etc. This meant broken/ disturbed sleep. - no hot drink facilities - which was a little disappointing.
Review 90:we loved the view of the high street straight from our window. the place was tidy and clean, TV was provided which was good for some nighttime entertainment
Review 91:We had to carry our suitcases from the reception area to a location which was through alleys and up many stairs! It was very hard and I don't know how we did it!!
Review 92:It was easy to find from the train station. The breakfast was good. Room was average. Price was good.
Review 93:Stairs - but you should expect them staying at Cinque Terre :)
Review 94:Great hotel with friendly host. Rooms were clean & tidy. Included breakfast added bonus
Review 95:AC didn't work. They left everything unplugged and we left things in the fridge without realizing this. There are probably better values.
Review 96:Clean, great breakfast, and large room.
Review 97:Poor parking and overall very expensive for what it was.
Review 98:Good location. If you're coming to 5 Terre leave your car at home or if a rental return it as parking is expensive and there is no way you can use it. Also bring very little luggage as the whole of 5 Terre is based on steep hills. In future I would stay in Portovenere and use the ferries to look around. You need to be fit to manage the steep hills and lots of steps!
Review 99:A bit noisy. People in this town love to throw bottles into the recycling bin at night. Town (and garage) a bit dirty with trash lying around. Fridge a bit noisy and we unplugged it. Parking garage was difficult to get into even with our minute car. Weird flat weave towels like linen table cloths.
Review 100:Conveniently located on "main" street" but room overlooked lemon trees and old church on quiet side street. Small terrace with some view. Room small but comfy. Excellent breakfast and coffee in a small stone vaulted room across an alley way. Staff very helpful. Reserved private parking.
Review 101:Breakfast could have been served earlier than 8am, as already commented on. If you are planning a day out walking, you want as early a start as possible to beat the heat and the crowds on the busy routes.
Review 102:Clean room, addition of fridge was welcome so we could have our lunch ready to take with us the next day. Also had a balcony which gave extra space. There are a fair number of stairs but that is well documented and the whole area is steep and has lots of steps so it's good training!
Review 103:Thought the price was somewhat high, but maybe that is the going rate. Staff weren't particularly forthcoming with info about area, but that's okay because we were well prepared.
Review 104:Location was very good, easy to find. Breakfast lady was lovely.
Review 105:Shower curtain made showering difficult as it did not stay away from my body without rigging a fix. Also, I fell into a window frame at night due to an inconveniently located step. Luckily I was only bruised but could have been more serious.
Review 106:Room was adequate, clean, bed comfortable. I did not anticipate having to lug my heavy bag up so many big uneven steps. Young woman on staff graciously helped me. Apparently several properties are available under this name so specifics probably vary. Price high, but may be one of better values in the popular Cinque Terre.
Review 107:Dingy dark room. Nothing like on the website. Breakfast very minimal. Bread often dry. Very thin walls. Could hear everything going on next door
Review 108:Clean towels every day.
Review 109:Wifi was only good outside. The hostess blamed the mountain, the weather, the sea. Pricey.
Review 110:Location was pretty good- up the Main Street in town. Breakfast was nice too.
Review 111:The wifi worked for the first three days. Then nothing. We talked with the people in the office who said that sometimes happened. It didn't come back on before we left. No major complaints..I would stay there again.
Review 112:Perfect location being close to the shops but far enough not to hear the festivities at night. Easy to find, and the staff were very attentive. Breakfast is excellent! All the food was fresh, displayed nicely, and the woman looked after us very well, including making each hot drink as ordered individually. Plenty of food.
Review 113:noise from churchbells every hour even nighttime
Review 114:Camera e Location
Review 115:WiFi works well The room is nice and comfort.
Review 116:Wifi in room was not effective unless you sit close to the windows. Renovation of bathroom is required.
Review 117:Perfect location. Breakfast is fine.
Review 118:Bed uncomfortable, pillows like rocks, VERY noisy, town bell every hour, garbage truck early am Need more pillows and better ones
Review 119:42 steps to the room - one must be nimble to stay there. Shower curtain was dirty.
Review 120:Twisting, narrow stairways may be a little tough for some.
Review 121:Very clean. Nice breakfast rooms. Staff was great.
Review 122:Rooms were a bit noisy, you could here your neighbouring guests conversations.
Review 123:Riomaggiore was the best of Cinque Terre
Review 124:Breakfast was poor, but really nice lady!
Review 125:Price
Review 126:Cleanliness, charm, great staff. The accomodation with beams and stone had been there for centuries. The AC was added value
Review 127:Te staff was very gentle , location was good ,
Review 128:Outstanding staff and interesting location.
Review 129:Staff not friendly Expensive
Review 130:staff initially welcoming but didn't give a lot
Review 131:Handy enough, clean.
