They look old and dingy. There is also not much information provided in terms of getting around the place on your own.

Review 18：The staff, particularly Janatha at Reception (hope I'm spelling his name correctly) was outstanding with showing me several rooms to choose from, as well as seeing to my fan being repaired immediately as I reported it was noisy. I had a single room and altho on the small side, it was comfortable with phone, TV, AC, and cleaning provided. Also, they have just opened a new pool which is quite nice!

Review 19：First I was shown a room WITHOUT A WINDOW! , smelling very smokey, I was asked to pay before I had seen the room ( which I didn´t do), second room at least had a window and better smell, but no hair dryer , no mini bar , no tea making facility - for a price of around 40Euro definitely too much money

Review 46：The room service ordering takes a lot to be desired as it is a lotterywhether your order is correct when you get it or whether you get whatyou order at all. Got so bad by mid week, I used the service every day,I complained to the manager. Only a slight improvement after that.

Review 50：I read a lot of comments about this hotel ..but booked 3 nights because the location worked for me ..yes there is a train line that runs alongside the hotel but that's not unusual for Mt Lavinia.....The beach is at your doorstep ..the hotel was surprisingly clean and efficient ..the beds are really comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful ..I've visited Sri Lanka often and I always base myself in Mt Lavinia ..I'd go back to Mount Vreeze ..value for money is exceptional

Review 51：This place is awful. Trust the reviews, do not go there! we thought it looked good from the photos and chose to ignore the negative reviews. A big mistake. We got a room without any opening windows and the windows that were there had been boarded up so we could not see if it was day or night. to compound the matter of no fresh air, there was an ashtray in the room and the room was saturated with the smell of stale smoke. Just don't do it.
