Reviews for L'Ancora

Review 1:The reservation desk doesn't open very early but I just left my key card.

Review 2:The room was very nice as well as the bathroom, nice to have some free snacks and a coffee maker.

Review 3:Thin walls, could here the noise from the street as well as other neighbours

Review 4:Good location, about 10mins from the train station however to get to the apartments the hill is quiet steep, but all apartments are about the smae

Review 5:A couple of negative things are the ceiling mould that is in the shower area that should be addressed and their wifi code did not work. Other than that, the stay was comfortable.

Review 6:Hotel room very clean with great AC. Staff very accommodating with leaving your luggage in their office for a few hours if you need to and with making bed arrangement changes.

Review 7:I knew going in the it was uphill to the unit. But that could be a challenge for some. Tight spiral staircase up the the room. No soap in the room.

Review 8:Excellent AC, best in Italy that I have experienced. Good WIFI. Very nice unit.

Review 9:Noisy rooms; can't be helped because the apartment is along the street

Review 10:Staff - we were late for the check in and the receptionist kindly waited for us past the check in time. Apartment - we were group of 6 so we had the whole apartment to ourselves. Terrace was nice and the apartment was clean and comfortable.

Review 11:Bathroom was moderniand trendy but poor ventilation created some mould above the shower but no big deal. For some the climb to the third floor could be a problem but typical of most accomodation.

Review 12:A decent climb up the hill to the room but typical of all accomodation in the area, unavoidable. Very surprised with a smallish but very comfortable room full of character. We were on the third floor so need to carry luggage but was ok. Aircon was great. Windows let fresh air in. Needed to close them at night due to a bit of noise but nothing unbearable. Would have been happy to stay longer but only one night.

Review 13:The address they provide is actually the address for reception and the rooms are actually located further up the hill. We were located on the 3rd floor having the travel up 3 sets of stairs in a spiral staircase. It was really hard with 2 girls to get our suitcases up and down however we did manage.

Review 14:I would recommend requesting the 3rd floor as it has a terrace on the roof we're it is nice to relax. They provided freeyoghurt and juices in the common area on the bottom floor. The free bottle of presecco was also really nice :) riomarggioe is a really cute town and I would 100% recommend staying in this town

Review 15:Very clean comfortable and modern. Good aircon. Shower small but all are like that. close to very good resturants and facilities. A short uphill walk from marina and station. We think best town to stay in of the five

Review 16:Struggled with wifi in the rooms but we managed as we were not there to sit inside on tablets :)

Review 17:The rooms were clean comfortable and one small set of stairs beyond the busy part of town. Our party of 6 had three rooms and the third floor rm had access to a rooftop patio where we sat and chated. No breakfast but automtic coffee machine (yum) and pkgd pastries.

Review 18:Great location. Staff was very nice. If you don't like stairs, you might want to look into another property. It doesn't bother me, so everything was great, except for the bed was a bit hard.

Review 19:The only Laundromat in town was insufficient, but that shouldn't reflect badly on L'Ancora. And remember the town is a hill.

Review 20:Such a cute place and close to everything. Even thought I rated the breakfast only good, the coffee was available when we wanted it and not bad at all. The town is a hill: good exercise!

Review 21:Large glass shower door doesn't close all the way. Steps extremely slippery when wet.

Review 22:Staff friendly and helpful. Charged my iPhone, made copies of train reservation, kept luggage, etc. Lovely room w modern bathroom.

Review 23:The room is very clean and tidy though it is slightly small. The decoration is very simple but you would like it. Seems to be newly renovated as the bathroom is very new and clean. Perhaps it is the water supply issue that the shower is not very strong.

Review 24:Bottle water was promised but not provided. Prosecco was promised, but only one small was there on the first night -- nothing else for the rest of the stay. Shower was broken and never repaired in spite of two reports. Given the amount of walking and climbing you have to do in the area, showers are important!!! (There was no tub.)

Review 25:Location was great and decor was attractive.

Review 26:Great Location and the room is special and comfy. Just need to take note reception opens at 8.30am, if you want to drop your bags in hotel before that, you will need to plan ahead....

Review 27:The bed is too hard. The soundproofing is poor. You can hear all movement from the room above your room.

Review 28:It's a very central location. The staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast wasplentiful. It is very good value.

Review 29:The location is really great! It is right in the center of the town and short walk to the train station. From the window you can see the street, very charming. The building itself is built on the hillside, so very unique. They have a great coffee machine downstairs and provide pastries. We loved our stay!

Review 30:The shower was not switching the flow between the fixed one and the other one, then the water was going from both of them. The beds a bit small.

Review 31:We had the apartment on the last floor with the access to the terrace. Everything was new and good quality. The place had free coffee and breakfast food.

Review 32:Everything was perfect!

Review 33:We booked a room, but what we actually got was a small studio with a terrace. The room was very cute, with nice furniture and it was very proper. When we got to the hotel, the reception was already closed, but the owners left us a key and some instructions at the main door. We had no problems whatsoever. There was no breakfast, but we could take some croissants, coffee, yogurt and coffee from the kitchen (for free!).

Review 34:Stairs! Very hard to carry large luggage to the top floor in such narrow spiral stairs.

Review 35:The room was clean, comfortable and had its own terrace!! Little bit noisy in the morning but we did have the windows open. Worth a note the actual appartments are further up the hill form the check in office. Little room with coffee, juice prepackaged sweets was there it use.

Review 36:Bed could have been more comfortable, but still a good sleep.

Review 37:Great location easy to find and very central. Can even access coming down from the top of town..... Nicely renovated room and bathroom. Very clean and comfortable room.

Review 38:Bathroom shower door not properly installed/maintained leading to water dripping down the stairs onto floor, flaking peeling ceiling paint in bathroom. Noisy as the main street funnels noise into the room and very loud church bells go off several times a day.

Review 39:Good location up the main street, nice modern interior, bathroom and mechanicals, complimentary Prosecco bottle on arrival, coffee machine downstairs, clothes line outside the window that you will really use.

Review 40:Poor value for the money. There was a self serve cappuccino machine but every drink came out sweetened. Up hill from train station, up flight of stairs to first floor room, up four stairs to in room bathroom.

Review 41:Clean

Review 42:Small room, noisy outside, 5 day stay with just 2 small bars of soap and nothing added when ran out, wifi turned off at night

Review 43:They didnt charge for 2 broken glasses

Review 44:Overall the service was poor for the following reasons: 1. We were initially charged more for parking than the advertised rate 2. The car park for L'Ancora IS NOT at all signposted and staff do not show you the car park. Therefore if someone parks in the place they can be fined more than €100. 3. If someone parks in the wrong place by accident (especially with the lack of signs) then L'Ancora offer NO refund. 4. The staff do not visit you during the stay to ask how you are 5. Staff do not ask you at the end of the stay if you enjoyed your stay 6. Staff do not offer to help you with your luggage 7. Staff do not suggest places to visit in Rio Maggiore or the Cinque Terre

Review 45:We enjoyed the beauty of Rio Maggiore which is perhaps the most scenic of the 5 Cinque Terre towns. The best view is from the castle which is a 5 minute walk from L'Ancora. L'Ancora accomodation is comfortable with a small fridge in the room and the location is central.

Review 46:It was really good, the room are tiny but really comfortable and full of everything you need during the holiday in Cinque Terre. Every day they clean the room perfectly. You got a kind of bar in the room in front of the entrance, and there you can take coffee, cappuccino, as well as juices and croissant. Very nice!!

Review 47:The shower had almost no pressure.

Review 48:We had a very nice room with a private roof terrace. The room and bathroom is very clean. Upon arrival we were greeted with a complimentary prosecco, which is always nice. The free to use coffee machine downstairs has an excellent caffé macchiato.

Review 49:The noise from the other guests seem to carry up the stairwell. One particular guest had no consideration for others. It would have been nice to have a kettle and toaster in the unit.also WiFi in the room would be great improvement.

Review 50:We liked the position, and we had terrace on the roof as we had the top floor unit. I was nice in the evening as it was shaded from the hot sun.

Review 51:The room is clean and the interior design is very cozy. Location is great, away from the crowd yet within walking distance. There is a restaurant across the hotel that serves very good food too.

Review 52:The location is middle in the town, Kitchen is very clean

Review 53:Stairs up not much fun. A few things did not work, lights, fans.

Review 54:Very cute place once you got there.

Review 55:Very helpful with or late arrival. Helpfu with other info .. Room great.

Review 56:good

Review 57:walking up the spiral staircase with luggage. also our front door didn't lock.

Review 58:location

Review 59:Would definitely stay here again. Friendly staff, nice clean rooms. Able to leave bags at the office after check out which was very helpful.

Review 60:The amazing staff.

Review 61:A little bit expensive

Review 62:Wifi very good. Location not hard to find . Staff is nice but it would be better if they speak English fluently

Review 63:Not much to the breakfast

Review 64:Nice room and bathroom, very clean, great wifi. Complimentary bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch in the room.

Review 65:Next time I would ask for a room with a balcony.

Review 66:Room was very comfortable. Central location. We had everything we needed.

Review 67:Bigger than I thought it would be, coffee machine (espresso, americano, latte) and yogurts in the shared kitchenette. Really good value.

Review 68:Location is excellent. Quite a steep climb, but that is unavoidable in riomaggiore

Review 69:Everything is excellent at L'Ancora. We strongly recommend as the base point to explore Cinque Terre towns

Review 70:only on the ground floor can you get the wifi

Review 71:The room is perfect!clean quiet and free coffee, good location

Review 72:No breakfast offered.

Review 73:Location within Riomaggiore and Cinque Terre, cleanliness of room.

Review 74:The location is great. As I had the 3rd floor room I had a balcony and it is really nice. The appartment is new and modern inside.

Review 75:Good location and clean rooms!! Was perfect for us.

Review 76:Spiral stairs will be hard for older people . Air condition does not stay on when you leave . No breakfast included

Review 77:Very cute hotel and clean . Comfortable bed .mini fridge .

Review 78:Room was right on the Main Street in town and it was noisy, even at night. My card key to my building didn't work and the office was closed. Call the numbers on their card- no answer. Finally had the restaurant owner across the street call the owners. Very fortunately he had their number or I would have been locked out all night.

Review 79:Accessibility with cases is difficult. Ankora is located at the top of the Main Street. The beds were narrow and hard! The office is remote from the rooms.

Review 80:Well decorated and Kitchen provided with juice and cake for breakfast . The little bottle of sparkling wine was a nice touch.

Review 81:Bathroom fan not working properly and making a loud noise. Noise from other rooms quite noticeable but didn't carry on for long. Shower door didn't close properly.

Review 82:Reasonable price. Good location away from some of the bustle. Free Wi-Fi was unexpected compared with booking information but excellent. Light snacks and coffee were also available on a self service basis for breakfast.

Review 83:Access to the roof top deck is only for those on the top floor - room 3. Breakfast not included though snacks available ( yogurt, juice, packaaged croissants and cake). Pricey but I think all rooms are in this area.

Review 84:The room was lovely, good location on the main street but further up the street away from the noise of the restaurants - no steps to get to building from train station - just stairs to get to your room. Free coffee machine.

Review 85:The price is reasonable in comparison to other local hotels but visitors should know that Cinque Terre is expensive. The staff's English is good enough but don't expect fluency.

Review 86:The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 87:-Faulty air condition. -Staff not very friendly. -Faulty shower and water flow was weak.

Review 88:-Free flow of coffee & tea from machine. -Room with access to roof top which is nice for star viewing. -Though no breakfast provided, there are packed cakes and dessert every morning.

Review 89:Water pressure wasn't great. Bathroom typically Italian-miniature size. No phone in room. Mini-fridge made noisy gurgle-sounds.

Review 90:Pleasantly surprised with this little getaway spot. Room was very clean, nicely decorated, and reasonably quiet considering its location on the main street. Near top of the hill, so not for those who are out of shape! Wifi fast. Nice welcome mini-bottle of wine.

Review 91:With heavy luggage not easy to get up the stairs, would recommend for other travellers to either travel light or ask for the room on the first floor.

Review 92:Breakfast wasn't supplied, but they have a range of snack, coffee, juice for free which we though was great. Location of hotel was good, but right at the top of a hill so be ready for a steep walk.

Review 93:One concern we had was in the bathroom of our room. There were two steps down out off the shower and they were a slippery tile and my husband slipped and got a very bad cut on his foot. I would recommend putting something on the stairs to help secure your footing when your feet are wet.

Review 94:The apartment was very clean and decorated nicely. The room has a spacious room with a small kitchenette attached. The best part is the private terrace above. It has pretty views of the area, and we had a fun night sitting outside, star gazing. We also loved that there was a mini bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us upon arrival! We would 100% stay here again.

Review 95:It's a very steep climb with your baggage. Then our room was on the3rd floor, up an incredibly steep and narrow spiral staircase. Exactly42 tall steps. I had to make 3 trips, one with each case and anotherwith my backpack. Hard enough to produce a lather of sweat from thisfairly fit guy and the need for a serious rest, followed by a shower.Second problem, water refused to come out of the shower head, onlythrough the hand held thingy. The owner / manager was uninterestedand very rude when we complained and asked for a discount. Verydisappointed and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Review 96:Once inside, the room was Ok, as advertised, except for the shower.

Review 97:The coastal hiking trail out of town was closed - not the B&B's fault.

Review 98:The room was on the main street of town but far enough away to be less noisy than if closer. Loved the wood beams and stone wall.

Review 99:Tight spiral staircase was a bit difficult but the manager helpedwith our bags.

Review 100:Location was excellent. Spacious room with roof top patio. Goodfacilities would definitely stay there again

Review 101:Breakfast not available but there was the option to have a free coffee, juice and a few snacks to start the day before going to a local cafe fora cooked breakfast.

Review 102:We left our major cases elsewhere and only packed an over night bag forour two nights which was a bonus. Fairly close to the station and lovelyroom awaited our arrival. Friendly staff and beautiful town to explore.Actually five lovely towns to explore.

Review 103:The room we had was unbelievably beautiful with its own wee rooftop terrace and just off the main street in the village. The staff were lovely. Couldn't have asked for better.

Review 104:Just like many of the accommodations in the Cinque Terre towns, it is a VERY steep climb to 90% of the rooms. Pack light and expect to do some climbing and then several flights of stairs to get to your room. It's well worth it, though!!!

Review 105:We loved the Cinque Terre. Lancora was great - our room was cute, clean and had all the conveniences that we needed. I would definitely stay with them again.

Review 106:The breakfast was really good and was served in a beautiful room. The balcony in our room had the most splendid view over Como Lake. Great and helpfull staff.

Review 107:I needed more information from the hotel as yo where to check in-directions etc.. They need to offer bell service to guests as luggage isdifficult to carry upstairs and up hill.

Review 108:Cute clean quaint close to everything. Very happy with the room

Review 109:Cinque Terre is extremely busy and this was the only thing we didn't enjoy.

Review 110:We loved the accommodation at L'Ancora and it exceeded our expectations of staying in this fishing village. It's on the main road and very conveniently located. Although the room and bathroom was small it made excellent use of the space and felt very comfortable. The drinks and snacks downstairs were a very welcome surprise indeed. Also excellent parking at the top of the town. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Review 111:Too much rain!

Review 112:Very clean, very updataed. You must like to hear street noise; people walking, talking, during late nights. Part of the ambiance of narrow Italian streets.

Review 113:The place was renovated and relatively new. Lovely location, although I would recommend not to take big suitcases because it is up hill. Regardless, it was very homely with a distinctive B&B feel. Snacks, juice and yogurt is provided for hungry tummies.

Review 114:Although bed was a good size, the mattress was far too hard.

Review 115:Such a lovely place, accommodation was clean and well situated. Grateful for the coffee and juice available.

Review 116:only got one small shampoo satchet on the first day and we were there for 4 nights so we had to buy our own.

Review 117:it was nice and we had the terrace all to ourselves. had a lovely time, will return

Review 118:The village is nice despite its hills. The rooms are clean with aromantic atmosphere, nice beds and shower, and offers some complimentaryitems as coffee, juices, yogourts, toasts and cakes along the stay.

Review 119:Steps! Steps! Steps! We stayed at the top of the building and there isonly narrow twisting staircases...if u are carrying big luggage u willbe "surprised" just like us.

Review 120:Not expensive. Clean and neat. Breakfast is not included but it is withcomplementary snacks and drinks. Marked as "wired Internet"but actually there is a free wifi. Nice staff, we checked out later thanthe ordered time due to missed the train but they are quite considerate.

Review 121:Make sure to pack light because you have to walk a good ways with all your belongings to get to the apartment.

Review 122:The location was perfect, right on the water. There are many trails that start right in the town. We opened the windows at night to listen to the ocean.

Review 123:The mobile phone did not work so unable to get a wake up call. The scales did not work but probably better not to know the weight gain as a result of too much good Italian and French food.

Review 124:Clean , convenient, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. The provision of coffee, yoghurt etc for a quick breakfast was great. Unfortunately the shop owners in the villages were dismissive. I thought Italy was a friendly holiday destination.

Review 125:Hot plates in kitchenette, but no pots/pans provided.

Review 126:If you wish to stay in this region, be prepared to climb steep streets, walk vehicle free streets and climb steps in the streets and up to yourroom. We requested unit on third floor which has its own rooftop deck sowe had more stairs than most. Well equipped unit, every good bed. Airconworks only when windows are closed - smart idea. Great to feel as ifpart of the village being located half way up the main street - morningtruck deliveries where beaten by the local roosters crowing and joinedby the church bells at 7am. Free coffee, juice, yoghurt and cakesavailable for breakfast were appreciated. Linen changed daily. Goodhosts. Excellent email communications when booking and inquiring repayment, location and arrival. Great range of nearby cafes andrestaurants, fruit/vegetable and grocery stores.

The Fine Print
