Reviews for Hotel La Zorza
Review 1:Small, very dirty shower. Internet virtually unusable (difficult cope planning next legs of trip and dealing with work issues).
Review 2:Comfortable well lived-in room. Very quiet, even with the window open.
Review 3:No wifi in the rooms.
Review 4:The hotel staff were very accommodating and we're always helpful. They ended up upgrading our room without any further charges which was awesome!
Review 5:We found bed bugs in our room on our second night. When we told the staff, they made us pack up and leave. Didn't help us find a new place to stay or offer a refund. Be careful booking here.
Review 6:Location.
Review 7:The stairs were fairly steep up to the room, which I understand, but better lighting in the stairwell is required. Also the shower was tiny and the shower door was broken so they used a shower curtain.
Review 8:The location was great...just a short walk from the train. The room was not luxurious by any means, but it was comfortable and pretty spacious. We had a small balcony to overlook the town. There was a bar below our room, but the balcony doors were pretty soundproof...noise was not an issue for us.
Review 9:A little too noisy for me, late night partying and then earlier morning delivery trucks.
Review 10:Wonderful staff, great room with a terrace view of the village and ocean. Breakfast was very tasty.
Review 11:Rooms need a reno. Beware there are alot of stairs if you stay here which we did not mind but if you are not fit it could be very challenging.
Review 12:Nice view from balcony to the sea and up the busy street was great. An easy walk from the train. Great location in town and close to the sea.
Review 13:It is right above a bar and the noise can be heard till midnight. Closing the window and turning on the air-conditioner helps a lot in abating the noise.
Review 14:It is close to the main plaza of town, and no long uphill haul to reach the hotel from the train station. My room has decent wifi connection, maybe due to the fact that it is right on top of the bar.
Review 15:The bathroom was very small .We have got a room in 5th floor no lift ..we had to walk with our luggages to the room ..room looks like a spooky and middle of the room there is stairs to upstairs not able to sleep....i recommend .pls don't stay here
Review 16:The air condition did not work. A dark room with one small window in the room's corridor (no views, just the walls of the nearby building). A little bathroom. Loud music from the pubs at night. Rather poor breakfast at the bar downstairs. Luggage storage in the corner of the bar (La Zorza's own). Too expensive taking into consideration the standard.
Review 17:Good coffee at breakfast. A small fridge in the room. Close to the railway station and marina.
Review 18:Wifi off 90% of the time
Review 19:Location was great in lovely Riomaggiore. Close to the train station within a 2 minute walk ratio all pubs/seafood restaurants.
Review 20:I only eat the breakfast because it was free, very few option and not high quality. If you can find another place to eat for a good value do it. No wifi in the room.
Review 21:Very close to the heart of Riomaggiore. Nice size room, great bathroom. OK value for money, very close to everything though.
Review 22:There was not any one particular thing that I didn't like. It was just an ok sort of place.
Review 23:Good location. On the main street close as possible to the train station. Spacious apartment which was set up pretty well
Review 24:Location is perfect but noisy. Expensive in high season. I would not classify this as luxury.
Review 25:The cleanliness. Good breakfast. Location. Friendly staff. Quirky place but this involves walking up the stairs so don't bring big suitcases. Although I do not classify this hotel as a luxury place it is comfortable, interesting and above all clean, we enjoyed our stay.
Review 26:For me, this was incredibly expensive for the quality of the room and hotel. I guess hotels in the Cinque Terre can charge almost whatever they want in high season. But there were some issues with this hotel. The bathroom was damp, and the damp smell infiltrated the bedroom. There was loud noise in the late evening - the walls of my room were very thin, so I could hear the various "nocturnal activities" of my fellow guests, and the bar downstairs (Zorza's own) plays loud dance music until around midnight. My room had no views at all - just the walls of nearby properties.
Review 27:Zorza is ok, lively and with some friendly staff, right in the heart of Riomaggiore. Breakfast is reasonable, though nothing to write home about. I would recommend it for wealthy backpackers.
Review 28:Wonderful location, in the very city center (main street) - close to the marina and train station (5 mins) Clean room with comfortable beds, with view to the main street, delicious breakfast
Review 29:pollution especially cigarette butts in marina and town disappointing.
Review 30:Great location on main road where the shops and restaurants located with big balcony to view the village activities.at the bottom end of the road so closer to the marina and station so easy access. kItchen allowed one to eat at place.Spacious.less touristy than other towns in area.pol
Review 31:We do not believe this is the rom we reserved on the web site. Air conditioning did not work. Staff charged additional taxes, which were later refunded.
Review 32:Our room was right above the bar and facing the main street, so very loud in the evenings (one night there was a party on the street with extremely loud music until 1am). The double bed had two single mattresses with a gap between them. The price was way too high for a one-star hotel.
Review 33:The room was very clean. The hotel is very close to the beach and the station.
Review 34:My room was on the 1st floor above the main street so a bit of noise coming from outside and the room above but for one night it was ok.
Review 35:Good location for Riomaggiore
Review 36:It's very loud, with bass heavy music playing until all hours. Our air conditioner did not work, but we couldn't open the windows because of the music coming from the bar. Wifi was spotty. Breakfast was a collection of burnt pastries and room temperature juice and milk. The bathroom seemed fairly clean but as soon as the floor got wet there was a smell of urine. The refrigerator was also not functioning properly but we were able to fix it. When we took the extra pillows out they were stained and missing their pillowcases and the beds were stained as well. All around a negative experience. Also, our confirmation email indicated that we would be staying in Cà dei Lisci rooms, but when we arrived to check in, we were walked back down the block to a different location - their "sister location". We talked to someone who stayed in the room from our confirmation and were told it was nice.
Review 37:Leaving
Review 38:The safe in the room was broken so nowhere to put valuables and the hairdryer didn't work (although with the weather we had, it didn't really matter)
Review 39:Hotel is brilliantly located near the bottom of the hill so you can easily get to the harbour, beach, restaurants and train station! Rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels given, which is great! Air conditioning in rooms, plus the blinds lock so you can leave the windows open during the day so room doesn't feel stuffy when you get back after sightseeing or just chilling at the beach!
Review 40:none One has to climb up to room, but it is hilly small village. If one decide to stay overnight at Riommagiore, he/she has to accept this situation.
Review 41:excellent location
Review 42:We had the apartment so paid a little xtra than the standard room. There was no utensils in the kitchen. Not even a knife to cut an onion or a wine glass. Our shower was cold 80% of the time and also stopped working while showering and you had to stand and wait for the water to start again. When I raised the issue with the staff down stairs they were rather rude about it and nothing was down. Also last issue was the bed. 2 singles pushed together they separated throughout the night.
Review 43:Good location in centre of Riomaggiore.
Review 44:Breakfast was way not best. A bit expensive but this is rather the place price.
Review 45:Quite good. Just a normal 3* (I would rate) hotel with more or less everything you might need.
Review 46:Very expensive - but then again, its Cinque Terre in Italy... Its a popular location and I assume they are all booked during the summer, but they should put a bit more effort into a more personal touch when communicating with their guests. We were okay but I saw some interactions that were bordering to being rude.
Review 47:Good location and breakfast was quite okay. Bed was comfortable - we got a stand-alone apartment as the standard hotel rooms were all booked, so we were lucky.
Review 48:The shower temp varied and at one time stopped flowing .The shampoo dispenser did not work, there were uncovered electric wires in the shower, the tp holder was broken, and the fridge froze everything we put in it. The two bars downstairs went on till 1 am. No wifi and if you have trouble with stairs ( we were ok with them) this place is not for you. Just not worth the money.
Review 49:The room was large with a window to the street. The bath had a large shower and Sylvia at reception was helpful thought out the stay . We used Riomaggio as a base to explore CT. this worked well , we even did a day trip to Portofino ( very nice)
Review 50:No WiFi. Could hear people in other rooms very easily. At breakfast we weren't greeted. No plates or bowls left. We had to ask for them and the staff seemed annoyed. Had to ask about hot drinks included etc. Staff hardly acknowledged us. We seemed like an inconvenience. If the room had wifi and was more quiet we would have stayed. Found a nicer place for same money instead.
Review 51:The room was nice, private, modern up some steps so away from street noise. Not far up main road which is an uphill walk.
Review 52:Expensive for what you get, but that's the price of the location. For me Riomaggiore was the least amenable of the five towns.
Review 53:Hotel is not too far up the hill Its actually in Cinque Terra
Review 54:Room was over the bar area and loud. Shower we could barely get into. Overall it was fine.
Review 55:Restaurants close and in a central location for the train and the ferry.
Review 56:The staff was great. The location was perfect not too far up the hill in Riomaggiore. My mom and I missed it at first and went way further up the hill than needed. There are a lot of steps to the room so pack light.
Review 57:Facilities---- hairdyer is old and smell burnt Toilet- shower is too tiny-- not enough towels- no wifi or no working wifi in the hitel room or the bar-- Noise level from the bar is too high!!!
Review 58:Location- it's conveniently located near the Riomaggiorre train station and right on the street with restos and bars
Review 59:Perfect location, close to everything including railway station. Only 20 meters of the main road but still very quiet. Happy hour ticket as a welcome. Very friendly staff.
Review 60:Young staff lady in reception full of prevarication and impatience. The mixed smell of inferior air freshener and disinfecting water in room was pungent, and it is an interesting experience to have slept on a double bed which is made by two single bed and left a lovely gap in middle; much more enjoyed the nonexistent sound insulation, those laughter, happily scream and talk from the drunks have truly made my night.
Review 61:Position is quite ok, but it's totally not a sea view residence.
Review 62:To get to our apartment, we had to walk up a hill of steps and then inside another buidling where there were over 80 (very high) steps! Furniture and furnishings were very old. No hot water, no heating and no TV the first night. Apartment not cleaned well prior to our stay.
Review 63:Nothing.
Review 64:The stairs leading to the rooms. Too many and uneven steps, which are hard to climb if you are of certain age. No toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was very limited.
Review 65:Location, close to the train station. The view from the room.
Review 66:Shower was the smallest I have ever seen. There's basically only space for 1 standing person. Can't even turn around. Towel provided is thinner than the floor mat.
Review 67:Very near train station, just at the other end of the tunnel. My room was the first one near the street, so no staircase to climb. Staff offered to safekeep my luggage when I arrived early. Breakfast consists of some pastries and coffee.
Review 68:It took very long time too check in. Breakfast could have been better for that price
Review 69:Very close to train station at Riomaggiore. You don't need to climb up the street.
Review 70:- Checked in a little after 8pm and had to walk up the hill to where the hotel owner lived because no one was in the office, despite calling ahead of time to confirm our arrival time - Staff did not seem to recognize my name upon checking in and did not know how many nights I was staying - Upon checking out, the staff did not have any of my papers filed, so I had to convince them that I already paid when I checked in - tiny shower cubicle - two twins pushed together to make a double were uncomfortable
Review 71:- larger room than expected and with heating and air conditioning - good breakfast spread and drinks - right next to the train station in the middle of Riomaggiore - good wifi - quiet and peaceful rooms where you cannot hear other guests
Review 72:We asked for a twin room and we got a room with a queen sized bed with a smaller attached room with a couch turned into a bed... Not quite what we wanted. The couch wasn't very comfortable and the comforter given wasn't enough -- it was a bit cold in the room. It was also located facing the street so it could get a bit noisy in the mornings and evenings. There's no television either, and the wi-fi was sporadic -- it worked only half the time. Breakfast was meh.
Review 73:It's the cheapest place (or close to cheapest) place we stayed in during our trip. The queen sized bed looked quite nice and comfortable. It's located very close to the train station and right across restaurants that are open quite late. There's a bar right downstairs (although the hours seem quite random).
Review 74:We asked a double room but we got a "double" room with two small beds put together.
Review 75:Well equipped. Good location, near to train station and service is good.
Review 76:The double bed was just two singles pushed together, which doesn't work when the mattresses have uneven wear. Lots of stairs, but that's Vernazza.
Review 77:The room has temperature control and a nice view of town. Silvia is friendly and flashes her nice smile. The bar is a nice place to hang out if you're in the 20 to 40 range.
Review 78:Very good location, you don't have to climb up the hill, but stairs you do (but there is no other way in Cinque Terre)... On the other hand, you have to carry your luggage up only once ;) There is no seperate reception, just go in the bar. We stayed on the 3rd floor, windows facing the backstreet and heard no noise from the bar. Room and bathroom were clean. Wifi signal was excellent. Breakfast is modest, but you will have all the basics and good coffee. Hotel visitors get 2 for 1 voucher for drinks ib the bar. Friendly staff. More suitable "hotel" for young people. I would go again.
Review 79:We found Riomaggiore was the best village to stay In,with great restaurants and the people were all so friendly. We loved visiting the other villages. The staff at Hotell La Zorza were the best, always smiling and always making sure we were comfortable.
Review 80:The room is relatively small and so as the shower stand. Facilities and amenities are just basics.
Review 81:Very good location(on the main st.) The breakfast is adequate to start off a good day. Staff were helpful to accommodate. With Free WiFi (good signal!)
Review 82:The noise every night from the bar which was directly below our room. No control on noise level or behaviour at all. Non availability of fruit for breakfast, not all items of breakfast available at start, staff . Staff did not check for topping up. The steeps flights of stairs to the rooms.
Review 83:Location was excellent as at the bottom of the steep incline of main street. Ease to get to railway station and other places. Coffee & tea made personally for breakfast.
Review 84:bathroom facilities a bit dated, no place to put towels
Review 85:location individual entrance (you dont have to go through the bar to get to your room) view (straight into a narrow alley, with even a sliver of sea) breakfast quality and amount Accepting that every short stay (especially when booked last minute) is going to be expensive in this amazing national park, makes it easier not to think about a potentially overpriced hotel room. You pay for the location. We were really glad we did because the early mornings and late nights in Riomaggiore, without all the day tourists, was the best of the whole experience.
Review 86:It is better to have more indication for finding the hotel location.
Review 87:Location is very good, which is near railway station. The room is very large and cozy.
Review 88:The girl who checked us in was impolite. She claimed not to know thedistance to the parking garage. It was 500 meters away up a very steephill. For 90 euros plus 10 for parking, this was not a good deal.Breakfast was sparse.
Review 89:Good location but no sea view
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:The location, it was near the station so we did not have to lug our luggage too far and the cleanliness of the rooms. The hotel also now has free wifi which was a bonus.
Review 92:We do not consider the place a hotel but a B & B (Bed and Breakfast). The reception is together a bar. Manager unprepared to deal with tourists, generating embarrassment and insecurity to them. We were forced to pay for hosting on arrival, on the grounds that guests leave without paying the bill.
Review 93:Reception staff was surly and behaved as if we were interrupting her day. Cleaning staff was friendly though. Bar staff was kind enough to allow us 2 wineglasses for our room...hotel receptionist yelled at him for it.
Review 94:Location was really good considering how high up the hill other hotels were. It was close to all shops and restaurants.
Review 95:You need to check in through the cafe that is on the street. We didn't read the signage properly and hiked all the way up the stairs looking for something that looked like the entrance to the hotel, only to find out that we had passed it a long time ago.
Review 96:Bedroom was great. Clean, private bath, good cost, and close to the center while still being quiet and calm.
Review 97:The staff were very dismissive and unhelpful. Bath towels were low quality and not absorbent. Breakfast was only passable.
Review 98:Close to railway station. Centre of village.
Review 99:This is not the usual type of hotel. It is really a bar from which the renting of rooms in the building above is administered, so no real service. The stairs are very steep and challenging with heavy luggage - 73 steps to the fourth floor. Our room facilities were very basic. Breakfast was a very limited affair in a section of the bar, but coffee was good.
Review 100:We had a fourth floor apartment which benefitted from a large patio area with views of the village and glimpses of the sea (once the neighbouring people left and removed their privacy screen). The bed was tidied and towels replaced each day. Location near the train station and marina was very good.
Review 101:STEPS . . . Too many but what can you expect on century old buildings.
Review 102:Best part was I did not had to climb hills to get to the hotel. Breakfast was nice and room cleanliness was great. For the price, I would go there again but if you are looking for a 5 STAR hotel go else where. These are very old buildings and would be ashamed if they change it for tourist sake.
Review 103:Hotel is attached to a noisy bar and the bar is the management's priority. Bar has MTV blaring constantly, even at breakfast. Room was a sub-let apartment up a steep set of steps behind the hotel. Room was dark and smelt of mould. Shower leaked water which we had to mop before using the toilet.
Review 104:Location was excellent for a stay in Riomaggiore.
Review 105:Room seemed dingy and the approach stairs were not inviting. Breakfast in the café below was noisy - and not what we had expected from a place billing itself as a hotel at this price.
Review 106:great location - despite noisy cafe, breakfast croissants were the best of the holiday
Review 107:Of course, there are a lot of steep steps to navigate the hotel, but no one looking to stay in Riomaggiore should be surprised by having to climb stairs!
Review 108:The hotel was quite close to the harbor and train station - important in Riomaggiore. The bar/lobby plays loud music until 2 am, but the third floor was quiet. Made a good base to explore the Cinque Terre.
Review 109:We chose high season to travel and at the last minute, and rooms were in short supply do few was high relative to the facility but we are happy we were able to secure this spot for 2 nights
Review 110:Very well situated to train station. Staff communication was quick after we reserved with great directions. Breakfast included. Great coffee bar in building where breakfast served.
Review 111:Shower cubicle a bit small.
Review 112:La zorza is so well positioned. It was a short walk from the train station and at the closest, lowest end of the hill. Staff were friendly and happy. Breakfast was quite good and enjoyable. It also comes alive at about five with drinks and music to boot. Lights and music also attracted many passers by as la zorza had the music buzzing for all ages. Great stay, will return.
Review 113:Rooms were very basic and could hear the bar downstairs even with the windows shut. Thin walls meant that we could also hear our neighbours. Not impressed for the price we paid.
Review 114:The location was good, right in the centre of Riomaggiore
Review 115:The staff also run the bar downstairs and it feels like their priority is the bar/cafe guests not the hotel guests. The music coming from the bar is loud and relentless, especially at breakfast and late at night this is annoying.
Review 116:Very nice room- exposed beams etc
Review 117:Room was expensive for what we got and compared to other rooms in town. Staff was pretty inattentive (I will give them that there was a festival happening, and staff was all quite busy in the bar portion of the building). They did warn me about staying in a regular room as it would be noisy (and thank god we were able to pay extra to stay in the apartment). But at the same time, the staff acted like we were bothering them every time we needed something; had to wait for staff to get to me (since they were busy in the bar) for check-in and simple requests for towels, etc. Staff seems overworked in the bar and too busy to help hotel guests. I would not stay here again; unless the price was more aligned with the other lower starred hotels in town.
Review 118:The location was good as it was right in the middle of town and not a far walk from the train station. We were advised to take the apartment room on one of the top floors as there was a large festival happening at the time of our visit and a regular room would be noisy. The room was very comfortable and the large patio which overlooked town was very nice. Breakfast was good as well as the coffee's in the bar.
Review 119:Wifi was terrible. Female staff were very rude and unhelpful. Malle staff were fine.
Review 120:The location was excellent. Very close to train station. We were on the top floor and had an amazing view. The apartment was spacious and clean.
Review 121:The views were not impressive, the room was NOT stocked with bare essentials, and neighboring hotels were better priced with similar offerings!
Review 122:I liked that the hotel was in cinque terra and that a 5-10 walk I could be waterside. Neighboring restaurants were delicious and market was short walk
Review 123:doors to toilet where crooked, wouldn't close properly. Ok for one night, but for longer stay.
Review 124:Clean room, great location. Staff is friendly. Ok hotel all in all.
Review 125:Those goddamn stairs with heavy suitcases. Wi fi was poor but geographically a challenge for services.
Review 126:The staff could only speak limited English but they made up for it with huge smiles and gestures. We only stayed 2 nights but it was a buzzing place full of young travellers and older people. Wi fi only worked downstairs but it made you talk to other people. The breakfast was great and unlimited. A very relaxed place with lots of smiles, basic food and drinks.
Review 127:The bar downstairs plays booming pop music from 7am straight though until after midnight every day. The late night thing I can understand, but it is awfully loud in the morning.
Review 128:The room was quaint and clean and located on the main street with an easy walk to the lovely beach. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Review 129:Wi-fi always felt, very noisy street! Right in the same building there is a pub, so starting from 9 till 12 all young people (locals and tourists) spend there their free time. The music is so loud that you can't sleep even with conditioner. After 12:00 there is no music but young people are still there till 01:00 or 02:00.
Review 130:Friendly staff, clean rooms, good comfortable rooms, safe box is in room.
Review 131:Second day there was no hot water and the staff couldn't fix it. All i got was a "we're sorry" but the staff wasn't particularly friendly overall so i wasn't surprised. At night the small bar at the hotel is very popular until 1 am so it was noisy in my room. Some may think this is a good thing. I think the water problem was an anomaly so I would still recommend it because of price. Especially if all you want is a place to sleep.
Review 132:A very unique property. You have to walk up steep flights of outdoor stone steps to get to your room which was quaint/authentic to me but might be difficult for some. The bathroom fixtures and windows were very new which was nice. The room had a lock as well as an outer door which made it more secure. The cappuccino in the morning was excellent and the breakfast very good.
Review 133:shower was tiny. no wifi in room. kitchen was a bit run down but looks like they were renovating.
Review 134:location is perfect and the view from the balcony is amazing! the staff are very friendly.
Review 135:Close to the gare station and the center. The staff is really nice !
Review 136:close to train station and main activity of the town like in much of Italy, prepare for stairs
Review 137:excellent location, near to the beach, restaurants and supermarket.
Review 138:Great location in Riomaggiore right in main village
The Fine Print
Once you are outside Riomaggiore's train station, turn right and take the tunnel. When you reach the end you will find yourself on the main street of the town, Via Colombo, where you'll find the hotel.
