Reviews for Pension De La Plage

Review 1:Nothing to dislike.

Review 2:Nice room with good facilities. Nice pool area. Close to local shops (this was important as I was self catering) and easy to catch buses.

Review 3:A suggestion: as I could self cater in the room, cups or coffee mugs would have been good to have. Probably just an omission though.

Review 4:When I arrived Vincent, the owner, was very apologetic and admitted he had made a mistake with my booking (I had made 2 bookings for different times which had created the confusion). I couldn't stay the second night. However, he had organised a room in another hotel, said he'd pay the difference and pay for my breakfast. He drove me there the next morning. He had gone to a lot of trouble to rectify the situation. He was honest about his mistake and did his best to put it right which I appreciated. I got the impression from people I spoke to that the place was very well run and that Vincent treated his guests well. My room was very nice - clean and spacious. The pool looked nice although I didn't use it.

Review 5:Our first room was very noisy , backing onto a main highway which was busy 24 hours a day.. Hard beds and pillows.. No real beach nearby only a rocky lagoon..Not as good as Fiji and a lot more expensive for food/travel and accommodation. .Every house and the Hotel is situated behind high walls and electronic gates. Reminded me of South Africa. Dogs everywhere both loose and roaming the streets/beaches with mess everywhere and barking loudly from behind the compounds at passers by. People not friendly.(just ok). From this limited view of Tahiti I would say that it compares very unfavourably with Fiji.

Review 6:Pleasant and helpful staff. Nice pool.. Quieter rooms at right angles to the road.

Review 7:-misleading advertizing on Bookings.com making you believe that taxes are included in the advertised price. -tons of ants everywhere in the room -no "normal" complimentary soap or shampoo -inoperable sink drain under the sink -very aged poolside furniture, noisy hwy next door

Review 8:the Roulette Crepperie across the very busy main highway( if you make it across alive)

Review 9:The beach opposite the road from the property was dirty and rocky. No English channels. So you need to brush up on your French. Make sure you take your shampoo.

Review 10:The pool, surrounding and the local bus service. Kettle and the fridge in the room helped somewhat. The owner organised the airport transfer which eventually materialised.

Review 11:The Pension is clean, the grounds well kept, the small pool is cooling, and a nice beach is a 5-minute walk away. Vincent, the owner, is helpful; his English is more than adequate although his wife does not speak English. Americans should know there is a French/ European flavor to the Pension in terms of what is supplied with the room. Adjust expectations accordingly, especially considering what you are paying when compared to the more traditional hotels. With our kitchenette and local shopping, you can save money on food, but also take advantage of the local roulottes (food trucks), which are an excellent value.

Review 12:The one downside and probably not the owners fault is that he'd gone out and ordered taxi didn't arrive causing problems as there was no taxi numbers on display in reception!

Review 13:Being English it was good to have someone who spoke English well! Helpful owner. The room is very functional and continental breakfast was pleasant eating close to the pool. It undersells itself as it is a very good stopping place not too far from the airport

Review 14:It was directly on the main road which is busy 24/7 and can be difficult to cross at rush hour and dangerous to walk along at night.

Review 15:The room was spacious and clean, and the setting was lovely. Great value for money on a very expensive island. Across the road from one of the nicer beaches on the island.

Review 16:Some traffic noise but nothing too bad

Review 17:Self contained rooms are good - save money by using the in room kitchenette. Lovely pool area. Staff (owner) very informative and genuinely friendly

Review 18:If you are looking for a place to rest and recuperate after the long-haul flight from Europe or the states or before your return flight, thenLa Pension de la Plage is the place for you. It has a small number ofbungalows nestling in a luxuriant, tropical garden all looking out ontoa cool and inviting pool. The place is very clean, the rooms ample andthe owners, Vincent and his wife, are helpful and friendly. It islocated across the road from a white sand beach where you can enjoydramatic sunsets over the island of Moorea. In the evenings the beachcar park has two “roulottes” (mobile eateries), one does steaks, swordfish, fries, etc, the other does crepes. Nextdoor to the pensionthere is a 24/7 petrol station selling food, drinks, etc. It isabout 15 mins. To the airport and 30 mins. To the capital, Papeete.

Review 19:Could have more selection for breakfast, usually hotels at this level have croissants and better fruit. Also coffee could be improved.

Review 20:Vincent was vey friendly and helpful, the swimming pool is nice and the location near the beach is great.

Review 21:the room Bora Bora was spacious and tastefully decorated (take as an example the beautiful huge silk painting); the garden was really pretty and the swimming-pool was very convenient in such hot weather; both the landlord and landlady were friendly and professional, the landlady was well informed about everything going on in Tahiti Nui and her detailed informative explanations prevented me from going to such places as Gauguin's Museum and the Lagonarium which were actually closed - that saved me a long time as public transportation is erratic and slow in Tahiti

Review 22:The proprietors are wonderful hosts and very helpful in all respects. This is a charming place to stay and we hope to visit again

Review 23:nothing

Review 24:location and family atmosphere, comfort and quiteness

Review 25:only complaint- all TV in French

Review 26:lovely gardens and pool across from great beach

Review 27:Paying for wifi.

Review 28:Staff, Vincent very hepful Good neighbourhood, near nice beach and close to Papeete and airport

Review 29:Tahiti is expensive. But that's not the Pension's fault.

Review 30:The rooms and plantings are very "Island". There is always someone doing maintenance on the pool and grounds. Vincent is always around if you have questions. The lagoon is just across the road as are food trucks at night. Not close to fancy but very pleasant.

Review 31:We very much enjoyed our stay here. Our bungalow was lovely, the staff was very friendly and helpful! There is a beautiful beach just 2 min away and also shopping facilities close by...

Review 32:Accommodation was very basic and for self catering needed a few extras such as a toaster, spoons and although there was an iron to borrow, there was no ironing board.

Review 33:The couple who manage this were very helpful and it was one of the few places on the island that has a fair price.

Review 34:The buses ran very infrequently and we had long waits. The taxi was almost $30 from there into town. The beach was OK but very rocky.

Review 35:Having a kitchen is great for Tahiti where food prices are very high. We especially liked the french press for coffee. Even the high end hotels don't have coffee service in the room. There is a store adjacent to the property to buy food. The pool was clean and refreshing. We were able to check in early which was super since our flight arrived at 6 AM

Review 36:Generally scruffy Surcharge for minor extras eg wifi, despite relatively high cost. On noisy, busy road Poor beach

Review 37:Large rooms Informative handbook Proximity to beach and restaurants

Review 38:Main street is directly behind rooms and traffic can be heard in roomeven with doors and windows closed although its generally quiet in themiddle of the night.

Review 39:Quick and easy at the airport arranged by owner got us from our 10 pmarrival to our room by 11 pm. The public beach across the street withit's evening "food trucks." Great food at a very goodprice. Fish, meat crepes...

Review 40:close to one of the main street so quiet noisy.

Review 41:Close to the beach, very clean, helpfull staff. owner was very nice and took the time to talk with us about Tahiti. very handy cause very close to petrol station, Le Meridien Hotel and accross the street few kiosk serving delicious food every day and night. would go back and would recommend to all my friends.

Review 42:the fact that their 2 dogs were aggressive and sat at table wanting food ; also owners wife did not like fact the taxi did not pick me up at airport !

Review 43:Location is far from the city and airport and taxis are not cheap.Wifi was very slow. First impression is poor - the area, like much of Tahiti, is run down, and while the rooms face a pool, it is small. Do not expect 'up-market' here, but I chose it for price and the kitchen facilities as we stayed a week.

Review 44:Price, the kitchen, owner is very helpful with all queries and needs. Shopping center is a hot 10 minute walk along the circuit road, but the fuel station next door has basics. Lagoon beach 100m away. Le Meridian is also a 10 min walk away (very upmarket!) for dinner. Rolettes food vans park across the road too.

Review 45:Skungy bathroom and frig. Unfortunately the taxi ordered for airporttransfer at 5am did not turn up. Owner's wife was woken and sortedout the problem and we all made our planes.

Review 46:Extremely helpful owner. As we were leaving at 5am he reduced the costas we didn't have breakfast. Also gave us free wi-fi as we hadrequested a studio and one was not available. Easy walking to goodshops and restaurants. Also to roulottes. Fresh room overlooking asparkling pool.

Review 47:Untimely bus service. Traffic noise eary in the morning. Lots of traffic. You take your life in your hands to cross the street.

Review 48:Family friendly property. Very helpful. Good location on the bus line. Rouletts across the street. Close to Le Meridian Luxury Hotel. Short distance to a shopping center and a market.

Review 49:Bath towels could be nicer, room floor tiles could be replaced

Review 50:Very friendly, comfortable, nice pool, well-supplied kitchenette, plenty of charm throughout

Review 51:Remote from the city. Buses stop at 6:00 PM and taxis dissapear..They are also expensive 4500-6000 CFP vs, the 250 CFP bus fare during day time. Breakfast not included and .was quite pricey. Rooms had kitchenette and there was a supermarket within wlking distance.

Review 52:I like accommodations, the green landscaping, closeness to an accessible beach. The staff was nice and helpfull.

Review 53:Room's A/C and central fan light did not work. No tea/coffee making facilities were provided in the room. Room was beside a busy road with no obvious entrance to the ocean on the other side.

Review 54:Booking was honoured as arranged.

Review 55:My only complaint is the beds are hard. But in their defense they are not the only pension with hard beds.

Review 56:Vincent and his wife are wonderful hosts. They are very helpful in directions, times frames, stores, etc. I would definitely recommend their pension to anyone staying on Tahiti that wants to be out of the city.

Review 57:Loved the cottages in the lovely garden and we so enjoyed Anna-Marie's splendid French meal - very good value for money anddelicious! The owners are very friendly and helpful and we had adelightful time.

Review 58:I loved this hotel SO MUCH that instead of staying my original 1 week I have made it my base for a 2 month journey here in the South Pacific & cannot WAIT til I get back there in 2 days to stay another 3 WEEKS! It is that outstanding!!!!! & I am a world traveler!!!!

Review 59:The room is in desperate need of renovation. The bed was the worstmattress we ever slept on. Everything had an additional charge. Ie wewere told not to drink the tap water and no water was provided for us.The owner charged 400 francs for 1.5 l water and at the gas stationstore we paid 100 francs. The kitchenette was a hot plate and microwave. No coffee supplied. The pool area was the nicest part of this place. Donot recommend this place at all. Charges for WiFi. No satellite tv onlyFrench channels which does not help English only speaking clients.

Review 60:Nothing

Review 61:Wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 62:Staff extremely accomodating. Close to shopping center containingreasonable sandwiches at Java Express, grocery store. Some jewelrystores that carry distinctive pearl jewelry. Easy access to Papeete.Crepes across street in evening.

Review 63:Written instructions would help for the stove-top. More towels would be an asset.

Review 64:Verandah, pool, front and back door, garden, nearness to beach-front and grocery store

Review 65:Very friendly staff, so helpful and happy to speak English. Great to have a kitchen as makes travelling cheaper, close to shops and white sandy beach. X

Review 66:Pleasant and welcoming Staff Parking Roulotte just in front of the pension

Review 67:Next to a busy road.

Review 68:The owner Vincent went out of his way to make sure we had a GREAT stay. The room had everything you could need.

Review 69:Bed was too hard. Very noisy at night
