Reviews for Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae
Review 1:I loved this place. Great location, nice staff, they deserve free noodles at night, the Onsen is open all night and the value was really good. The rooms aren't fancy, but totally adequate and the place just has a really good vibe.
Review 2:Nothing at all
Review 3:The hotel is only two blocks away from JR Kyoto station - a great location for public transportation through Kyoto by train, subway and bus. A 24 hours convenience store is adjointed to the hotel. The personnels are very friendly and helpful. The room (I had a double bed room for single use) is small as any other business hotels in Japan but very clean!. The breakfast is great, the best kind! I recommend to anyone.
Review 4:The hotel has a hot spring, which is definitely worth a visit after long walks to visit the attractions. You may want to visit the hot spring during off peak periods such as in the afternoon. They also have free noodles provided at a rest corner from 9pm to 11pm every night. The location is also good. Just a short 5 min walk from Kyoto station which you can get the buses or trains to major attractions. Kyoto station also has a variety of food outlets and Isetan department store and supermarket for buying local souvenirs. The hotel is definitely a value for money stay with good facilities, cleanliness and location.
Review 5:The toilet and the room is quite small.
Review 6:The location is really good and close to the rail station. The Spa is good. The noodle is nice too. Overall is good.
Review 7:Great location, right near the station. The Onsen was wonderful and the free ramen at night was s bonus. I got a late checkout for a small amount which really helped. Staff were lovely and spoke very good English. Will definitely stay here again!
Review 8:The onsen experience was really great, but not really value for money especially during the weekends! Consider staying somewhere else during the weekend, maybe Nara or Osaka
Review 9:Accidentally dropped my chain and pendant at their Sapporo branch. When I reached their Kyoto branch 2 days later, their Kyoto reception contacted Sapporo branch and confirmed my lost item is with them. They arranged for courier to me. Unbelievable service. By the way, their onsen is small but comfortable. I stayed at a 5 stars hotel elsewhere but nothing beat this. The breakfast buffet has many choices too. After this experience, I will always stay with Dormy Inn.
Review 10:The breakfast didn't offer a large choice of continental food. The matress was too hard.
Review 11:Good hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Location is great, next to the station. Also I enjoyed the onsen and spa facilities.
Review 12:No tissue paper in room.
Review 13:Location! Near Kyoto station and bus terminal. It's so convenient that I went back everyday late afternoon to take a rest and out again. Onsen is great. Free ranen 9pm tp 11pm.
Review 14:Very small rooms, cramped with only 2 people and 2 backpacks. Staff doesn't speak English well so it's hard to get recommendations on places to eat/things to do. Although close to the station, not much to do tourist-wise in this area, so you had to take the bus to another zone for dinner and drinks.
Review 15:Reasonable price and 5 minute walk from the station. It was very easy to find.
Review 16:The main problem i had with this hotel is lack of ventilation. There is no way of opening the windows and without putting the air conditioning on there is seemingly no air at all flowing into the room which makes it very stuffy and uncomfortable.
Review 17:This hotel is located close to the station making it a convenient option. The staff are helpful and the rooms are quite good overall.
Review 18:No European Breakfast. Makes it difficult for International travelers. The free soup at night is a nice touch but I wish they had a vegetarian option. Not everyone is excited about chicken:)
Review 19:Everything you need in compact format. Second sliding door, despite the small size keeps the noise away.
Review 20:Bed a little small by western standards but works for a couple of nights, 3pm check in is quite late and hurts if you've come off a long 24hr travel journey but I think also standard for most hotels around.
Review 21:Small but perfectly formed rooms, superbly clean, good room amenities, awesome shower pressure, wonderful rooftop spa and onsen (for free!), minutes from Kyoto station, walking distance to some great sites, friendly staff and a free noodle bar! A++
Review 22:Staff does not speak English! Very poor service for a hotel. I mean, in a tourist spot like Kyoto, you should have staff that speaks English. Most of the travelers of the world speaks English! I arrived at the hotel at 2pm (since my train arrived in Kyoto at that time) & I just wanted to leave my luggage at the hotel. Later that evening I was going to return to check into my room). The staff kept repeating "no", and that "the room is not ready". "sorry!" They just didn't understand at all. I had no intention to go into my room. I knew I was one hour too early for check-in. I just wanted to leave my bag with the concierge, and then return later! Also, at the Dormy Inn, in Himeji, you had to return the room key at the front desk before leaving the hotel. I asked the front desk, if I need to leave my room key before leaving the hotel. Of course, nobody had any idea what I was saying. I said: "should I leave the room key here?" Silence. "Do I take the room key?" Silence. Puzzled looks. "Is it ok to take the room key with me?" The staff just glanced at each other. Then said: "I don't undertand! Sorry!" Simple things like this made the stay very annoying & complicated. Otherwise the hotel is very clean, and comfortable.
Review 23:I stayed 3 nights. The Onsen on the 9th floor is wonderful (free)! Inside and outside hotsprings (with oranges in the water) are beautiful. Nice rooms - much bigger/nicer than the Dormy Inn Himeji which I stayed at the previous 2 nights. Newer design. Comfy beds and wonderful memory-foam pillow. Breakfast is free (included). Laundry is free (9th floor).
Review 24:It is not at the city center, better choices exist for visiting only Kyoto. No bad experience, only the bed could be more comfartable
Review 25:Good place to stay if u will do daily trips to other cities like Osaka, Hirosima because the location is just in front of the main station.
Review 26:A little bit small space of the room, although all Japanese rooms are like this.
Review 27:The location is good and the staff is very nice, who will help you to book the restaurant. You could use the PCs in the lobby for free.
Review 28:N/A
Review 29:Staff are very helpful for non-Japanese speakers. The breakfast buffet and noodle service are excellent. Dormy Inn has the perfect blend of modern amenities and the Japanese comforts.
Review 30:I only had five nights!
Review 31:Excellent location for access to public transportation. The Dormy room is not large but it meets all your needs. The breakfast is a wonderland of options, including Kyoto themed dishes. Of course, who can't say no to Onsen before bed.
Review 32:some employees could not speak english..
Review 33:location good, clean room, nice service and the best was spa. all customers could use spa at 9th floor for free. I could break the fatigue of a journey by using spa at hotel. + all customers could eat japanese noodle soba at 9pm at first floor for free.
Review 34:I was also work in a hotel industry, this adorable hotel make me feel so comfortable, exceed my expectation. they provide a little seat in the lift, separate air-conditioner (instead of central warm air-con which i experience in diff hotel and make me cant sleep for whole night), very clean and tidy with great service. Youv can see they have put many effort, providing things from guest point of view. Im believe the owner treat them well as they all work very happily :)
Review 35:nothing so fat
Review 36:-The breakfast buffet is amazing -Location is prime for those looking to be at the station are -everything on may expect from a business hotel is there, and more
Review 37:no
Review 38:The location is very close to train station. In Kyoto station , you can find lots of restaurants and also the department store. It is quite easy to go anywhere by bus and train. The bed is very comfortable, too.
Review 39:The air-con is a bit noisy and indicator light from the light switches makes the room too bright when the light is off
Review 40:Just a few minutes from Kyoto station, hotspring, environmental practice, helpful staff
Review 41:The room was very comfortable, quiet and clean. Although the bathroom facility was a tiny shower cabin adjacent to the toilet, it was perfect for a quick shower. The breakfast was always fresh and delicious. Be prepared that it is a Japanese-style breakfast. I did not use the onsen bath but the massage was relaxing. This hotel is to be considered if someone wishes to have a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in Kyoto.
Review 42:Receptionist can speak good English. Very close to Kyoto Station where can easily take bus, JR train and underground to other places. Many nice restaurants and shops nearby.
Review 43:Great location next to main train and bus stations. Rooms very comfortable. Staff very helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast was amazing! The onsen was wonderful too.
Review 44:We came during one of the popular festivals, and the town was crawling. The hotel was probably sold out. Breakfast was a bigger challenge as the breakfast hall is too small when the hotel is running full. We thought we could get breakfast in a half hour before running out to a group tour. We showed up and they wanted to put us on a waitlist. We told one employee about our limited time and she said we could take a tray to our room. As we left the room, another employee said that we could not. It was a bit confusing. They should tell people as they check in to plan on longer waits to get into the buffet or to come extra early or late to avoid crowds.
Review 45:This hotel is in a great place, just 5 minutes walk from the train station. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The ramen they serve in the evening was really good, and the onsen was invigorating and really well organized. The buffet breakfast was really good, with lots of choices.
Review 46:Some staff are limited in English but they all very helpful.

Review 57:Location, facilities
Review 58:Convenient location with Onsen area ... Highly recommend. But the room is a little bit small.
Review 59:Nil.
Review 60:Opposite Kyoto Station. Laundry facilities. Onsen.
Review 61:No wardrobe, little space in the room. High surcharge for double occupancy.
Review 62:Closse to Kyoto Station, good breakfast, good bath.
Review 63:Staff members are friendly, helpful. Wonderful Japanese breakfast, evening ramen, onsen and laundry facility.
Review 64:Very small room. Would not hold our bags for a couple of day.
Review 65:Great location.
Review 66:My first time in a Dormy Inn. Better than expected onsen, better than expected breakfast, good location. No regrets.

Review 84:The room and public bath
Review 85:cleanliness of the room modern decor spa facilities location friendly staff
Review 86:Excellent location from Kyoto station-very short walk. The staff was friendly and professional. I also liked the on-site Onsen and free ramen noodles at night. I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay here and if I am ever in Kyoto, I will stay here again.
Review 87:Spacious room. Friendly staff. Close to station. Very good value for money. You have the hot spring baths and can get a massage at the hotel as well (although massage at extra cost) There is laundry service also for free
Review 88:No safe for valuables was in the room; we got very low floor, due to it was noisy due to traffic and dark color room decos could not be brightened with sun light; just 1 big towel that is meant to be used in room shower as well as spa area; Spa area very small and for ladies made with extra codes to enter.
Review 89:Breakfast was excellent, staff was helpful to organize free time options (Tea ceremony, Geishas theater); spa on the roof was nice
Review 90:Staff has very little knowledge of English
Review 91:The room, the location, size of the bed, free ramen at night(!) and most of all the amazingly clean hot spring bath!
Review 92:Nothing. Everything excellent
Review 93:Great location just outside of the Kyoto JR station where there are lots of restaurants and shopping. At Isetan there are so many food stalls to buy food . Also located at Kyoto station is the Central Bus Station where you can take bus to all the tourist attraction. The Spa on the top floor is excellent and so is the massage which is reasonably priced. Every night 9-11pm they serve Free Soba - delicious and at the restaurant you can drink for free whole day and with a beer dispenser operated by cash. They also provide free oolong tea convenient located at entrance to lift so you can grab one if you like. Definitely one and only place I will go back to
Review 94:Was placed in the room with a large hotel sign outside. Not a nice view. Light shine constantly into room.
Review 95:The location was perfect for someone wanting to travel around Kyoto and beyond as it was close to Kyoto train station. Staff very professional and spoke good English. The hotel had a trendy and luxurious feel. Great decor! Excellent value for money.
Review 96:The restaurant was only open for a couple hours at night and a few in the morning, which wasn't helpful for those who enjoy sleeping in. The breakfast buffet could also have been more varied.
Review 97:The spa was fantastic, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The beds were very comfortable compared to beds in China. Love the bidets!! Also enjoyed the convenient location to the Kyoto Station. It was right across the street on the right hand side.
Review 98:The room was a good size for two people. I can't say enough about the service at the hotel. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful. The location can't be beat being do close to the Kyoto Station giving you access to all kinds of transportation.
Review 99:nothing.
Review 100:Great location to visit Kyoto. Rooms are nice and very functional. Onsen, free ramen and Lawson direct access from the lobby. Service staff was very good and pleasant. They have special commodities to keep your luggage before after check in/out (brought the luggage at our room after early check in and while we were out).
Review 101:nothing i dislike, if i go back kyoto, i must stay here again !
Review 102:This hotel is the best japan hotel i ever stayed. Room is very "huge" in terms of japan standard. The public bathroom and sauna facilities are very attractive. Free noodles are unexpected bonus.
Review 103:Weekend rate is much higher than weekdays, so if you are on budget, tryto time your stay for weekdays.I stayed 2 nights in a twin room and 1 night in a double room. The twin room was good size, the double room is a little tight around the bed.
Review 104:Everything was good. Comfortable bed, very nice onsen with indoor andoutdoor bath, sauna. Very clean. Breakfast is well worth the money, openbuffet style with plenty of choices (mainly japanese dishes). They havenoodle soup after 9 pm, free of charge! There is free wifi in the whole hotel including the rooms, which is reliable and fast. (This could be new as previous reviews said no wifi) Location is good, just next to Kyoto station. Sanjusangen-do (1000 buddhas temple) is walking distance, however a longer walk. Fushimi-inari and Gion are easy to reach from nearby train stop.
Review 105:Would be better if it was closer to central Kyoto. However, the locationwas still convenient.
Review 106:Everything about the hotel - It was very impressive.
Review 107:Nothing to complain
Review 108:I like the location as close to JR station. There is also shopping and restaurants in the station. It was convenient to take bus and subway as well. I like the public bath which is available free of charge in hotel. Will stay again next visit.
Review 109:Great location, very near to Kyoto station so it's convenient to go anywhere by both buses, subway and trains. Clean and comfortable room with amenities. Like the hot spring bath and free ramen noodle after 9pm.
Review 110:The breakfasts were excellent and included a variety of European andJapanese food. It would be nice to be able to book an inclusive price. The baths on the top floor are also good.
Review 111:My first room was just up from street level on a busy road and quitenoisy (moved to 8th floor, which was fine).
Review 112:Japanese bath / spa, especially open-to-sky outdoor bath. Super-efficient check out. Complimentary self-serve coffee in the morning.Extremely convenient location.
Review 113:Excellent hotel. Very quiet with separate partition to seal off bedroom from the bathroom/corridor area. Free coffee and drinks. Also noddles available for supper. Short walk to Kyoto rail station.

Review 115:Rooms extremely small, but they are so well equipped you get used to it very quickly.
Review 116:Comfortable, well equipped rooms. Proximity to station. Free ramen. Onsen. Draft beer machine. Free drinks. Shower.
