Reviews for Landgoed Groot Warnsborn
Review 1:That we only stayed for 1 night
Review 2:The friendly welcome, the quality of the accommodation, the service in the bar & restaurant and the quality of the food. Everything was top quality.
Review 3:The room was a little cold, and we could not work out the heating system, but I'm sure if we had asked the staff, they would have responded straight away.
Review 4:The general ambience and atmosphere of the hotel. The food was excellent.
Review 5:It's not possible to have the menu for one person, only for the whole table. That's a pitty.
Review 6:The atmophere in the hotel was really relaxed. just what we needed. And its wonderful to make a walk through the garden/woods. The foor was very good
Review 7:My wife and I were allocated a bedroom which had the shower, washbasin and toilet facilities in the room and not in a separate area, although the toilet had a half frosted screen. Even after 50 years of marriage there is some need for privacy!
Review 8:The location and the "country house" environment of the hotel
Review 9:A few noisy business people and their jargon.
Review 10:Delicious food in an elegant restaurant with a cordial and helpful staff. A good wine list, great napery, tastefully arranged under stated flower arrangements. Great grounds with spectacular trees among which to wander.
Review 11:Whilst everyone was very friendly we were surprised at a number of issues we encountered; 1. the slow service. Dutch friends with us were less than impressed. 2. Our room was above the kitchen so we were woken early in the morning by kitchen staff chatting in their smoking area on both Saturday & Sunday morning. It was such a shame to have our weekend sleep disturbed particularly because the bed was very comfortable. 3. We had a coffee machine but no coffee packs etc so it couldn't be used. 4. Our shower sounded like a jet engine screeching. Quite unbearable. 5. Upon arrival only one towel set was left in our room & typically was only discovered when wet...another inconvenience 6. I used the hair dryer which set off the fire alarm...again, a high pitched noise which went on for a while. Not a single member of staff came to our room to see if there was a fire or if we needed any help. 7. My other half proposed to me en route & had pre-ordered champagne & red roses in our room...we had no glasses! We left the room by the time the glasses arrived so we ordered more ice the following day so that we could enjoy our champagne. It took an hour for the ice to be delivered to our room! 8. The TV screen kept going blank so mid watching something you were left with sound only so had to turn it off then on again constantly.. 9. The walls are like a concrete wood chip which is definitely not fitting for an interior. Snags skin & clothes.
Review 12:Lovely setting but so many niggley issues we wouldn't return. Comfortable bed
Review 13:It was a supersize bed but the pillow was so small and tiny we cant sleep. So we call the reception and they bring us more pillows.
Review 14:Great location, beautiful rooms and terrace. Super woods great nature and relaxing. I will come back soon!
Review 15:We only wanted to have a snack in the evening but the menu did not allow for that even though we saw that they had allowed another guest to have an item from a lunch menu that was not available in the evening. Breakfast at €19.50 was pricey. Quite an expensive hotel overall. We asked for directions to the famous Hartenstein Museum in Oosterbeek and the lady on reception gave us the wrong set of instructions that caused us quite a lot of frustration next day. The Hartenstein Museum is at Utrechtseweg 232, Oosterbeek. She gave us instructions to Utrechtseweg 232, Arnhem. We only got there by help from a kind gentleman who could see we were lost!
Review 16:Lovely location, nice room (well equipped), good breakfast, nice staff. Grounds are gorgeous and the wooded location wonderful and yet only 8 minutes from the centre of Arnhem. This is a super hotel.
Review 17:Overmanned, puffed-up restaurant in grandiose parkland location - with rooms. An atmospheric cul de sac. Overpriced menu offered anniversary-only aspiring epicurians and trapped travellers the last remnants of nouvelle cuisine and the opportunity to pay twice what a poor meal is worth. Disgraceful mark-up on indifferent wine list. Staff made up for their inexperience with lashings of studied ostentation whilst their seniors carefully juggling obsequious manners with 'superior-than-thou' grins. The Basil Fawltyish head waiter wore plastic white gloves for pity's sake. Some prices (e.g phone calls, cocktails) were indecent. Any virtue which escaped the pervading pretentiousness was limited to the surrounding gardens, parks, woods and inspired detached orangery facility (weddings, etc)-which collectively impressed but failed to remedy or compensate. Great use of wood (teak) furniture and fittings; but wasted.
Review 18:Location. Park. The orangery
Review 19:Staff very friendly
Review 20:Rather remote from town; expensive taxi or infrequent bus.
Review 21:Very friendly reception, well equipped room and nice bathroom. Lovely views.
Review 22:some of the strange food
Review 23:The old clawfoot tub in the room. And the sheeted (can't remember the Dutch word) cows... had never seen them before.
Review 24:No complaints
Review 25:The staff were so helpful and I had a really comfortable stay
Review 26:Bar is over-priced and the service is slow.
Review 27:Wonderful room. Beautiful grounds Great staff
Review 28:nothing
Review 29:The location
Review 30:Large spacious rooms, beautiful surroundings, very friendly staff
Review 31:Nothing!
Review 32:Everything! From the friendly welcome from the staff, amazing views, large and comfortable rooms and the perfect dinner.
Review 33:Heerlijk hotel voor een kort of langer verblijf in een super mooie omgeving en met een heerlijke keuken
Review 34:Friendly, stylish hotel in a gorgeous setting. Really helpful, professional staff.
Review 35:Bijzonder vriendelijk personeel. Goede locatie.
Review 36:Restaureant facility and service
Review 37:Within walking distance of Oosterbeek Airborne cemetery ( for fairly fit walkers ) Friendly helpful staff Spacious well maintained rooms
Review 38:The price is rather high for what one gets. Our room wasn't particularly large and the walls were thin.
Review 39:The natural surroundings.
Review 40:Unfortunately our room was not cleaned when it was supposed to have been but they sorted it asap.. Also in the compendium they suggest 30 euro cents a unit for pH calls I think it needs to be clear how long a unit is I presumed it was a minute .. Expensive mistake !
Review 41:Surroundings and set up were beautiful..really nice old hotel.. I would definitely recommend it ..
Review 42:Delightful hotel. Great service from reception for a last minute booking. Dining for dinner and breakfast was delicious and great selection of fine dining options. The grounds were lovely to stroll and the bath was the perfect end to my day.
Review 43:I couldn't stay longer! Would have loved to have a full weekend or at least two nights but my schedule didn't allow it! Nothing negative to report.
Review 44:Amazing stay! Phenomenal house with fabulous restaurant and gardens. Bath was awesome! Comfy bed. Food was great. Stephanie on reception was fabulous! Loved that they had English menus as well. Faultless stay.
Review 45:Staff at reception - quite stiff Room was in the attic and relatively small for 190 euro Shower and bed not good - 2 most important elements for a comfortable stay
Review 46:Location Location Location
Review 47:Whilst the room was excellent value, breakfast was too expensive and not included. The hotel is trying to be a bit too stylish and in this location something more rustic would work better.
Review 48:Lovely countryside location outside Arnhem. Beautiful gardens to walk around. Large, clean and comfortable room with balcony.
Review 49:Interior décor needs serious updating -- it seems dark and gloomy. Ourroom and lounge were clean, but the premises just seemed"heavy" rather than relaxing or luxurious. Dinner menu wascomplicated beyond our understanding, and the staff did not seeminterested in explaining the system of the various course offerings --appetizers, entrees, "betweens," and main course...So we gaveup and ate in the lounge, tho we had looked forward to a bottle of goodwine and leisurely "fine dining. &Quot; Hotel is not a good value -19.50 euro each for breakfast buffet.
Review 50:Beautiful natural, countryside setting with lovely gardens and paths forwalking thru fields and forests. Very proximate to National Park HogeVeluwe and its Kroller-Muller museum.
Review 51:It was really far from the Otterlo entrance to Veluwe. We felt isolated without a car. They cater to mostly Dutch tourists. Some of the staff were very helpful and polite, otherwise were a bit snobby and standoffish. The room was nice, but we had difficulty sleeping because of the large windows and inadequate window covering to block out the early morning light. Also I did not like the see through toilet. It was a bit uncomfortable. Privacy would have been better.
Review 52:Beautiful grounds in the Veluwe. We really enjoyed the trails in the woods. The food was excellent in the gourmet restaurant. The room was spacious and somewhat comfortable. Nice breakfast. Free Wifi. Also this is one of the only hotels with air-conditioning.
Review 53:The beds were *much* too soft and all the bedding was very synthetic. Crucially for us, a noise like that of a spinning washing machine emanating from the wall woke us on our first morning and then persisted even after we complained, ruining our plans for a lazy morning in bed. The staff were quite unapologetic and seemed to think that their explanation that it was the extractor for the hearth in the restaurant made it okay. They had so many chances to make it up to us but missed them all, and only went so far as to move us to another, slightly *less* charming room.
Review 54:The location was great.
Review 55:I was first charged online , on check out date I was charged again .They told me they will return the first payment bill to my account butup to day no payments have been done . This is not right
Review 56:Internal design of room
Review 57:Crap pillows and only one per person. The cheapest and meanest toilet paper.
Review 58:Very nice building, rooms and facilities. Excellent restaurant with very efficient and friendly staff.
Review 59:The beds were very soft, the strangest toilet shower, glasswalled between toilet and shower, and room The eveningmeal we cancelled after we cuold not find any single item we would eat, very expencive, we ended up with takeaway pizza from town i am sure it serves a purpuse as a retreat , past glory, even breakfast was nothing special After having travelled for 2 month thru the world ,it is the one hotel i would not return to
Review 60:I picked the location after having travelled thru europe withtiny tight towns , so my wife could do her running in the forrest
Review 61:The wierd arrangement of the shower and handbasin situated in the bedroom with only a partila glass screen between them and the bed.
Review 62:A comfortable traditional hotel with high standards
Review 63:Great location, great room design, excellent, professional staff, fabulous dining. Cool room key too. Beautiful location and gardens, quiet, peaceful. Ran out of time to rent the scooters or bikes but will make time for sure on next visit.
Review 64:Unfortunately the bar/restaurant staff were not helpful and would frequently give conflicting information, sometimes in quite an abrupt manner. The breakfast was badly organised with little direction from staff - plates were not cleared from tables and when requests were made for a certain breakfast this took a long time to arrive at the table. Considering the price of the breakfast this was a poor service.
Review 65:The location and the style of the hotel. The setting and the gardens surrounding the hotel were very good. Very spacious rooms and efficient air conditioning. The staff who managed the reception area were very cheerful and helpful.
Review 66:The hotel staff where somewhat aloof and superior which did not afford a relaxed atmosphere for the children. Our rooms where in the loft space which where far too hot and only had very ineffective air conditioning units, not what I would expect for the price we paid. This would be a great romantic getaway but not for families with younger children.
Review 67:The location was superb, the food amazing and the gardens wonderful.
Review 68:Although the food was good, it was expensive and we found the choice limited. The food in the restaurant was clearly much better, but hideously expensive and there did not appear to be a "half way" option. Breakfast was extra, and again the choice was limited and we thought it expensive. (The choice of breads, however, was lovely).
Review 69:Location was superb - a truly beautiful setting. The room was exceptionally clean, comfortable and spacious. The grounds were lovely and sitting out on the balcony in the evening was a real pleasure. There are lots of lovely walks around the area, which is heavily wooded and is not what we would call "typically Holland."
Review 70:The only problem we had was that our room was on the end of the hall, and right below/beside us the kitchen staff would sit outside at apicnic table for their breaks. At 12:30am (midnight) they were laughingand talking so loud they woke me up. (Windows closed, air on) I had toknock on the window loudly to get them to be quiet!Otherwise nothing at all wrong with our stay. WIsh we could have stayed longer.
Review 71:An absoulutely beautfiul place. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful from check in to check out!Dinner reservations were already booked but we were able to sit on the terrace and still have an incredible meal! One of the best steaks I have had in the Netherlands. (been here 4 1/2 months now)
Review 72:We stayed in annex. We need elevator at least. It was very hard to carry several laggages for not young women.
Review 73:I have been there weveral times. However totaly re-new now. It is good to stay there. And restaurant is also good! I like this area.
Review 74:There was no mirror near an electric socket so it was difficult to usehair irons to style hair. The decor was dark. It would help if the wallswere painted lighter
Review 75:The location is fabulous and is the real selling point for the hotel.Reception staff were always very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The hotel was quiet so not woken up with noisy guests.
Review 76:great room concept wonderful location noiseless airco excellent food great terrace
Review 77:No smoking room for guest
Review 78:The €20 breakfast felt way too overpriced.
Review 79:Food was great. Location is fantastic. Staff were friendly, and thefacilities were cozy.
Review 80:No swimming pool nor fitness. No late check-out.
Review 81:Romantic setting with lots of nature. Stylish interior decoration. Friendly staff.
Review 82:Surroundings excellent. Food (dinner) excellent. Comfy bed.
Review 83:The shower within the bedroom and poor drainage in the shower area
Review 84:Location
Review 85:slow service in restaurant, lumpy pillow (unusable), dangerous steps in room.
Review 86:Ambience, building, grounds,
Review 87:breakfast not included
Review 88:the whole setting and environment
Review 89:food over rated too expensive
Review 90:beautiful setting,friendly staff
Review 91:Really enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant. Loved walking the grounds.
Review 92:The room was located in the former carriage building and very uncomfortable, including steep stairs and access through wind and rain.
Review 93:Dinner
Review 94:This hotel is located in the forest, I enjoyed a nice view around the hotel. The dinner and breakfast are very good!

Review 105:Great views, friendly staff, excellent food, clean room, comfy bed.
Review 106:Room was a little small for a hotel of this quality.
Review 107:Stunning views in beautiful countryside with an excellent restaurant.
