Reviews for University Hall Auckland
Review 1:Had a dirty pillow case, looks like it may got overlooked. Was swapped immediately
Review 2:Very friendly staff, rooms excellent quality, very big and spacious for university accommodation. Laundry facilities excellent.
Review 3:It seemed to me a bit unorganized and paniked.i arrived Late because of a flight delay and the room wasn't ready then I had to change room because a big group was coming and then when I went to the reception for the key they were trying ones more to find out in wich room I was.Very friendly and helpful thought..I have to admit also that I ve got a little present for the inconvience.
Review 4:Very clean nice room free Wi-Fi not always strong thought little breakfast included and very smily student staff.
Review 5:Having stayed in a number of the budget accommodations in the Auckland CBD, this is by far the best. Very friendly staff, clean, comfortable room, continental breakfast included, and only a 5 min wlkd to the heart of the CBD.
Review 6:Rooms seemed a bit old and dingy. They had all we needed though. Would have liked to have been told about other facilities across the road.
Review 7:Good location. Across the road from the apartments there were better facilities such as a pool table and air hockey which my son liked.
Review 8:Our initial apartment was not clean and dated. No light immediately outside the room which came out into a courtyard. Breakfast was included but not a wide choice and little if no fruit.
Review 9:Staff great particularly Casey. Moved to double room which was much better. On-suite was very good. This was in the new high rise tower.
Review 10:WiFi was weak in my room but strong in the common area on my floor.
Review 11:Clean, quiet, secure, friendly people at the desk. And there was a landline phone in the first floor common room where one could make local calls for free. Breakfast was so pleased but really good. All the coffee you could drink!!
Review 12:some of the dorm rooms face a very busy highway, which could bother some people. I always travel with earplugs, so this wasn't too bad.
Review 13:The University Hall Auckland was really a great value for the money. The single dorm rooms and shared bathrooms were clean, and the breakfast was certainly adequate, though not tremendously exciting. Great central location, especially for conference attendees at the Univ of Auckland or AUT.
Review 14:One thing I would change is the fact that you cannot ring after hours to the person responsible. You have to call them and sometimes people phones are not working. I was lucky I met people that helped, otherwise I would be sleeping outside ;)
Review 15:Clean rooms with the view and very fast internet plus relatively clean bathrooms. A lot of leisure facilities and their availability. Staff very helpful.
Review 16:Bathrooms weren't cleaned on a regular basis; and even if you are careful using them, there's just too many people at the same time. I would prefer having male and female bathrooms separate. Breakfast could have a more savoury option (cream cheese or eggs) The lift took forever
Review 17:Very comfortable rooms, they had a really good space to work and organize your belongings. Breakfast included gluten free options, great fruit and cereal. Staff was incredibly firendly and helpful
Review 18:Drunken rugby players from Scotland a nuisance
Review 19:Quiet Secure Own room Very comfy bed bit bigger than a single Fantastic price The only place I've stayed so far that's not encumbered by problem staff with problem friends ... Good value for money! And if your a student reading this ... Yes I know it's your dorm room and you pay a, lot intent for it but when you compare it with the rest of the city centre hotels that's a reasonable good value room for a traveller in nz!
Review 20:The room that i got was nasty,it took them 2 days to bring me a new sheets
Review 21:The distance from the center about 20min by foot. The staff are nice.free wifi
Review 22:Nothing really bad. Younger people aren't as considerate but its a campus and therefore us oldies have to be tolerant of the mess in common areas and the noise.
Review 23:The rooms are comfortable and more than adequate. The food is good which is a blessing if you don't feel like eating out.
Review 24:Sometimes the students didn't clear up after themselves so the kitchen area became messy. the staff are not at liberty to clean these areas so i ended up cleaning.
Review 25:Free breakfast privacy of own room bathrooms and showers never far away good security Free washing machines and dryers communal areas all have tv and sofas would recommend to fellow travellers as prices are only slightly more expensive than a hostel but you get alot more for your money. I loved the privacy of my own room!
Review 26:The cleaner doesn't not clean every day the kitcheness and bathrooms and unfortunately people doesn't think about the other guests and doesn't clean after theyself. The bathrooms are shared between male and female.
Review 27:Breakfast and fast wi-fi included. Possibility to include also dinner paying a little bit more. Plus a little kitcheness available every floor. Cleaness and kindness.
Review 28:You have to walk a steep slope up to the main road which is tough....
Review 29:Good location within CBD.... Free internet and breakfast.... Overall good value for money....
Review 30:Whatever they used to clean/deodorise the communal bathroom set off my allergies a bit. The communal kitchenette on my floor became quite dirty and messy, with people not cleaning up after themselves. The staff are npt at fault for those issues. A toilet I reported for not flushing properly did not appear to be seen to. Also, some of the guest information in my room was incorrect or outdated.
Review 31:My room was spacious and clean and my bed very comfortable, for the money that I paid. Free continental breakfast, with plenty of good coffee was a real bonus, as was the free WoFi and use of the guest laundry.
Review 32:The place is very nice and clean. Everyday the cleaners use to clean the place. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. Accommodation is only 6 minutes walk to the Queen st, which is the centre of the city. Its a very nice place :)
Review 33:The hostel is located next to a major motor way. If you don't like traffic noise please make sure you ask for a room that doesn't face the motorway.
Review 34:Great location, attentitive staff and simple, clean rooms.
Review 35:Clean, tidy, and friendly atmosphere. It had all the facilities you could need, including washing and dining. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it is in a very convenient location.
Review 36:The fact it was on the bottom of a (small) steep hill. If you walked from town meant you had to go up the hill one side and down the other - hint: get a bus.
Review 37:Location was good 15-20 minute walk to town (only that long because of it being a hill). Free breakfast of cereal and toast was a nice touch. Room was bright and wasn't small.
Review 38:Wlan. You have to login by browser everytime. Useless but it seems to spread... You have to set your settings to their nameserver, otherwise it wont work at all... Ingenious isn't it????!!!
Review 39:Location Price
Review 40:Vending machines didn't work. Would only take cards if did I Didn't know that the all bathrooms are co-ed.
Review 41:Nice big room, free good breakfast. Free laundry, but u need ur own soap
Review 42:Too dirty, I don't recommend if you stay with your family.
Review 43:Excellent breakfast !!!
Review 44:Bit old/shabby
Review 45:Size of apartment
Review 46:Did not clean the room during the stay Facility shared area was not clean and no one care for it .
Review 47:Room clean and nice , not do far from the center
Review 48:No toilets in the room. Staff not really helpful
Review 49:Breakfast included
Review 50:Great location and facilities for solo travellers in a great central location.
Review 51:Apartment wasn't ready however the staff upgraded us for the inconvenience.
Review 52:All of the staff were amazing, friendly, very helpful and approachable.
Review 53:I liked being in a friendly atmosphere full of interesting people.
Review 54:Clean, modern facilities. Location is reasonably handy to City centre & well serviced by public transport. Great fast unlimited wifi
Review 55:Pretty awesome atmosphere. Staff pretty helpful
Review 56:Shared bathroom and rubbish trucks early in the morning
Review 57:Very low price (including Breakfast)
Review 58:The WiFi kept logging off, so I needed to reconnect every few hours.
Review 59:The toilets and rooms were clean. The internet was fast.
Review 60:Nice comfortable room with a very comfortable bed!
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:Single room
Review 63:Bathrooms could've been cleaned more often, but this might've been due to it being summer time.
Review 64:Free wifi
Review 65:Lack of utensils and cooking facilities - even for snacks. Other guests had left kitchen in a shambles.
Review 66:Everything
Review 67:It felt like being an undergrad again, with a tiny box room.
Review 68:Perfect accommodation whilst at a conference at the University of Auckland.
Review 69:Bad pillow
Review 70:Comfy bed, fantastic breakfast, free wifi, kind staff, clean facilities
Review 71:no
Review 72:everything goes well and convenient
Review 73:A bit noisy when sleeping.
Review 74:The room and bathroom were very clean, the staff were very helpful, free breakfast, nice location.
Review 75:Did not have ensuite
Review 76:Clean tidy room
Review 77:Not particularly easily accessible.
Review 78:Friendly, clean and overall good facilities.
Review 79:location
Review 80:Price,location,cleanliness and staff were all excellent. A great idea to use the rooms while the students are not there.
Review 81:Low price Included internet and continental breakfast Well maintained building/rooms
Review 82:Fantastic!
Review 83:Breakfast and Dinner are included, also you have a lot of laundry machines. Excellent staff.
Review 84:No stove to cook
Review 85:Friendly reception staff.
Review 86:Steep hills to get anywhere.
Review 87:This was a college dorm with private rooms, shared bath (never saw anyone), and breakfast. Price was fantastic, near Queen Street in Auckland.
Review 88:In the double ensuite room - we believe it was a handicapped room, the shower made the entire bathroom floor wet - for a handicapped person (which we are not) it would definitely be a hazard because it was slippery.
Review 89:We booked the double ensuite and were very pleased with the accommodations and location. We could walk everywhere. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and made our stay memorable.
Review 90:Steep hill to walk up/down. Motorway noise - I wore earplugs!
Review 91:Central location. Overnight charge which included breakfast. Very good size room & comfortable bed.
Review 92:Mess in corridor and common spaces on 10th floor (may need more cleaners on busy weekends outside normal term time - lots of visitors in for Nines etc). Option to hire reading lights and more information about where to go for quiet read in comfortable seat would be useful for short term visitors.
Review 93:Friendly, helpful staff. welcoming atmosphere in dining room, pleasant, clean room. I would recommend the Hall to others in my age group (60s+) though I'd be cautious about coming on Nines weekend)
Review 94:I don't think the kitchen was cleaned in the 10 days I was there. It was pretty bad by the end of that time.
Review 95:Great rooms and location, and very helpful staff
Review 96:My room faced onto the motorway and being summer it was quite hot, but if I opened the window it was quite noisy. Would ask for a room facing away from the motorway next time.
Review 97:Modern, well set out facility in a great location.
Review 98:For some guests, the steep hills to get to the main road would be a problem.
Review 99:Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Inexpensive, modern, good value for money. Breakfast included was also great to have.
Review 100:Hill was steep getting too and from. Only two showers on each side of the floor. No 24 hours reception. So I arrived early in the morning and no one was on the desk. Struggled to call the number left. Wifi was terrible and useless. If you do stay make sure you ask for a room near the communal area to have any chance of getting wifi in your room. There are 14 floors so it's aggy waiting for lifts all the time. When I stayed it was all students and not friendly. Stay here if you want a clean bed and not travelling alone.
Review 101:Clean and breakfast was fine
Review 102:A bit of traffic noise if you had one of the rooms facing the motorways.
Review 103:Awesome - pretty hard to fault it at all. Nice quiet location, still close enough to town Comfy room, spotless bathrooms
Review 104:Breakfast finish at 8.30. WiFi only in common areas.
Review 105:Good value, nicely located, friendly staff and well facilitated (there is even an air-hockey table). The room was spacious and clean, the shared bathrooms are mostly clean as well. Easy to get to know so many nice students of Auckland. Had a great time!
Review 106:The lack of wifi available in the rooms, and I didn't know that there is a rather tight limit on the wifi usage per day as well. The way to the University Hall required walking passed a couple of up slopes and down slopes, so not that convenient when you're lugging a wheeled luggage along.
Review 107:I like how the University Hall is in the CBD area, and yet far from the noise from city life. The building is safe and clean, making my stay pretty comfortable.
Review 108:Lounge and sink area had every spare surface filled with dirty dishes for the entire stay and some began to smell. The fridge was full beyond capacity. It seemed nobody cleared or cleaned this area despite the halls being used as tourist/guest facilities. There is no kitchen for use other than a microwave (also dirty) so the sole eating options are on the ground floor which are open for a very limited time. The area around the halls is is leafy and EXTREMELY poorly lit. 15 mins walk to the main area of cbd
Review 109:secure entry and safety within building. Comfy beds :)
Review 110:Is bit old for the family to stay in. Very noisy at late hours (early hours of morning) the front doors are very noisy as they slam on closing and this occurred a lot very late into the night. We checked out days before planned, partially this reason. Also uncollected rubbish lying outside in the open in bags, not in containers
Review 111:Staff at reception were excellent, Stacy and two men I do not know names of. My 10 yr to teenage kids enjoyed the games room. Location is good parking provided very handy
Review 112:it was perfect! only thing would have been if the WiFi recognized me when i'd come back rather than logging in every time... but that was minor and logistically they probably can't do it.
Review 113:great place. nice environment. no complaints. was a nice place away from home. clean. lovely staff. great campus.
Review 114:The wifi, which was supposed to be available in public areas, never worked on my laptop and there were no staff to ask, because of the New Years' holiday.
Review 115:The room was very clean and comfortable.
Review 116:The wifi connection, which was supposed to be available in public areas never worked on my laptop and there were no staff around to ask, because reception was closed for over 2 days during the New Years' Holiday
Review 117:The room was very clean and comfortable and it was very reasonably priced for a room to yourself.
Review 118:Couldn't get WiFi in my room. Breakfast was plentiful and edible, but not enticing.
Review 119:Excellent value for money. Easy to use and appropriate furnishings and facilities.
Review 120:Queen Street is about 10-15min walk away, other backpackers are closer
Review 121:Great clean place right on Auckland University Campus and really close to the city. Great common room with Playstation and Wii console.
Review 122:Not that easy to find being another University Building and not well signposted. Taxi got it wrong. Steep walk up to main road where you can get buses.Only one towel and no soap etc
Review 123:staff all very helpful and late checkout no bother. Clean room if a bit spartan. Functional. Unisex shared shower-room/toilets and no private sinks but all very clean.Very reasonable price and fine once you know your way about
Review 124:Internet does not work in bedrooms. The common area kitchens only have a microwave, toaster and kettle which makes own cooking difficult.
Review 125:You have your own room. Continental breakfast is included. Free unlimited wifi in common areas. Laundry costs $2 for wash and $2 for drier.
Review 126:Good straightforward accommodation on the edge of the city centre. Facilities and room were clean, and bed was comfortable. Free continental breakfast was an added bonus. Far better value than the (slightly) cheaper backpacker hostels nearby, though sadly only available outside the academic year.
Review 127:Wifi not available in the rooms, water in the shower that does not evacuate
Review 128:Wide spacious double room, breakfast
Review 129:The good sized rooms
Review 130:Nice room, Common Areas are nice, lots of laundry facilities
