Reviews for Fihalhohi Island Resort

Review 1:Room service was not hotel like... No intercom..chutti or Niaz knocked the room door instead.. The environment is home like but a bit too homely for a holiday if you know what I mean...no daily room cleaning or amenities maintenance. Though the premises are kept well clean and organized still it lacks the professionalism of hotel business...

Review 2:The staff Niaz and Chutti (nick name) and the chef Amar are very friendly and welcoming people. Niaz(manager) took interest in telling us about how we can make the 3 days we stayed there a memory worth remembering and wishfully so... We were staying there as a second phase of our honeymoon trip to Maldives, the first 4 days being at Fihalholi resort. Chutti took us shopping where he helped us bargain and even arranged a card payment thru the hotel since we ran out of USD cash. That was really going out of the way to help us...we didn't want to leave anything from the cart :) Lastly...Amar the chef.. Amazing food.. Be it fish, chicken or local Maldives cuisine he did it with perfection and really well presented.. I'm a foodie who loves to try new tastes ...this was a great experience. I highly recommend Islandeay Etos to anyone looking to relax and have some fun and interested to know the local culture of Maldives.

Review 3:Our vacation ended leaving us with bitter taste. In my wallet 300 US dollars were missing. I am sure they were there and I realized it just on the last day. I spoke with the director, telling him that one afternoon (by mistake) we left the safe open and the boy room came to tidy our room because in the morning, when he usually does it, we were inside. The director defended his employees telling me that some of them have been working there for 30 years or so; I totally understand his position. Nevertheless my point of view is this one: we paid more than 3000 US dollars for this resort; I expect to find everything when I come back from the beach. This is the second time my money "disappears" from a hotel room, the first time being in Tanzania. Sorry, but I can't recommend this resort.

Review 4:The resort is nothing fancy, just basic and if you are aware of that it is ok. It was windy and the sea was a little bit rough; unfortunately with these conditions you can do snorkelling just along one little side of the island and anyway you have to be a good swimmer.

Review 5:Poor food, price information does not include tax and service so final price will be much higher than listed. Every thing costs, soon they will charge you for taking a breath.

Review 6:Beautiful island.

Review 7:Prices of diving activities are incredible high... it is a robbery!

Review 8:Buffet, People, Beaches... everything was really beautiful. If you are plannning to go there is a nice price-quality option, but dont do any extra activity since they are overpriced.

Review 9:Small but beautiful island with absolutely great house reef. You do not need to go for any trip because you can snorkeling on the house reef which is 20 meters from the white sand beach. The beach is wonderful and well maintaned. The food is also great. Strongly recommanded, exceptionel value for money.

Review 10:"we were requested for meal exchange instead of dinner we will take our next day lunch coz dinner we planned to have as per our choice that they denied so was bit upset for that, may be its a policy in their resort that cannot do anything "

Review 11:We had gone their for one night for our anniversary as per our request they arranged cake . as a B/F & dinner part of pkg the spread of breakfast is really nice .

Review 12:Staying more than two or three nights will be boring if you don't have extra activities like diving which is expensive in the resort. We arrived on Thursday which was the Chinese food night for dinner. We don't like Chinese. Next night was Maldives dinner which was delicious

Review 13:Quite and relaxing

Review 14:very rude behavior by ppl at reception. Repeatedly we need to call for house keeping. Wifi is chargeable . Noone cared to guide us about the resort amenities and abt water sports. We came to know each n everything on our own. For which we wasted one day. Ppl at reception don't even knw how to recieve a guest. They are rude and lazy .

Review 15:Very nice resort. Bit costly. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Food is good.

Review 16:* Wi-Fi facility - one is required to purchase Wi-Fi and log off after each session. The latter is not made clear when the purchase is made with the result that one soon runs out of Wi-Fi !! * My husband's suitcase did not arrive in Male. Once followed up with the airline, the case was located and delivered to the airport within a day of our arrival. Unfortunately the Resort did not collect the suitcase from the Lost Luggage Dept at the airport as arranged and hence we had to wait a further day for the suitcase, necessitating the unnecessary purchase of a swimming costume.

Review 17:* Well maintained island with beautiful beach and awesome house reef. * The transfers to and from the island were on time, efficient and comfortable. We were welcomed and orientated upon arrival at the Resort and given a formal good-bye with well wishes before we left. * Excellent choice of food ( we had breakfast and dinner ) which was tastily prepared and well presented. * Staff were very friendly and accommodating; always willing to assist with great attitude and smiles. * Accommodation ( classic double room) although simple, was spacious, clean and quite adequate for an island/beach environment. The sheets were crisp and white and there was a constant supply of clean towels and toilet paper. The air conditioner worked efficiently as did the fan and a mosquito repellent available in the room. There were also several plug points with a universal adaptor. * Although the drinks were expensive, the Resort was generally good value for money. * If the opportunity ever arises, we will definitely return to this Resort and island....an awesome experience!

Review 18:English should be the 1st language when receiving guests (not German or any other even if majority are German), water and wifi ought to be free or at least cheaper. A few prawns would also be nice in the meals, higher standard of goods + souvenirs in the shops.

Review 19:Location, the gardening & natural habitat, style of rooms and dining etc., service, food, drinks in bar.

Review 20:This island is awesome.. Beautiful Crystal clear water.. Staff are very friendly.. Stayed in the water villa and it was the best holiday so far.. Would recommend the resort to everyone..

Review 21:$140 pp for a speedboat is a rip off - it would be more understandable if it was a private transfer but me and my wife were made to wait 3 hours at the airport for other tourists to join. A bottle of water per day wouldn't do too much harm to the resort finances but would remove the feeling of a cheap business.

Review 22:This is a little sandy gem on the ocean - the house reef is very good (even better than in some top end resorts) so there is really no need to take any boat trips - snorkeling is great and scuba can be enjoyed from the beach too. Saw two sharks, sea turtle, octopus and numerous species of fish. Visibility was 5 - 30m during monsoon season. The sandy beach is also great for relaxing - is wide and white, also not too congested - must have a good tourist/beach ratio. I choose the normal bungalows and I guess that I like them much than the water villa as they are right in front of the beach in a very nice jungle setting. Can recommend this island.

Review 23:Perhaps the mosquitoes in the restaurants and the sitting areas, but that's expected with the amount of vegetation around the island. Very slow wifi internet but who needs internet when you're in paradise?

Review 24:Paradise. Exactly what we pictured a Maldives holiday would be, only better! Exceeded expectations in every aspect of our holiday. Awe -inspiring hotel especially the water villas. All inclusive deal was worth it! Great staff, very professional service. No hidden charges. Amazing pristine beach, crystal clear waters, superb flora and fauna. The best location for snorkeling even just a few steps from the beach which is very near the rooms (even not the water villas). Wonderful place.

Review 25:There is no free wifi. bed is not so comfortable. For the money I have spent, I will not recommend to my friends.

Review 26:If you like to go snorkeling, this is a fine place. And this small island is very natural. You can walk around in 10 minutes.

Review 27:The only complaint is the main dining room. It is well designed and pretty, but extremely hot as Ceiling fans are hanging to high from the ceiling, thus not providing enough cool air in the tropics.Off course, excursions and drinks are extremely pricy. I suggest guests to take some water and cool drinks along in their suit cases as a small bottle of of water is $7 and a soft drink or fruit juice $8!!!!

Review 28:Chalets are very clean and comfortable. Very big variety of buffet finners/lunches every day. Staff very helpful and friendly. Holidays at resorts on the Maldivian Islands are not cheap, but definitely the best if you are looking for a real, relaxing tropical holiday where diving and snorkelling is absolutely suburb!. The variety of live coral of all colours and species and fish is simply amazing.

Review 29:Full board and to pay for drinking water is a bit expensive. Keep theadditional cost on a list, otherwise you´ll be surprised later oncheck out. Breakfast good, but variety could be better. Someadvertised excoursions were not available. Gym Workout-Station needsto be repaired.

Review 30:Good location, they keep the place really clean. We took an upgrade tofull-board (be aware that even on full-board drinking water is notincluded), buffet lunch and dinner was with good variety. Snorkelling onhouse reef excellent, scuba diving ok. Transfer to island is very good,no waiting time. All in all I recommend this Resort for everyone. Hugeamonunt of dumbbells in the gym. For better internet access we got alocal sim Card ot the Airport which was cheap and worked excellent.

Review 31:There is nothing much to offer in Maldive except natural beauty and few water sports. so we felt 3 nights were enough to explore island .

Review 32:We liked almost everything..

Review 33:The re-logging into our paid for wifi was a bit inconvenient.

Review 34:The water villa was amazing, it was the perfect set up of having a view, yet private!! The visit from the local heron crane was kool, and the overall wildlife that was swimming around was very interesting.

Review 35:Deep ocean in few meter away from beach but no life guard at beach (accident was happen on day or a day before our stay). Stuff (probably a manager) rudely chase us away after stated lunch time (2pm). Older 100USD not accepted, shall bring only credit card.

Review 36:Crystal clear water, pearly white beach, nice for photo shooting. Free lunch as we reach slightly earlier, which is much appreciate!

Review 37:Pricey drinking water, they provide only one bottle of drinking waterfor one at very first day, then every time u have to buy it at 5 usdoller for 1 ltrs , even at island hopping tour they dont provide freedrinking water and any type of drinks, there is no electric cattle anttea coffee option at room

Review 38:Their check in procedure is very smooth and warm , island is excellent ,with very good white beach, and a excellent house riff , foods are verygood and lot of variety they tried ,

Review 39:Speed boat transfers from airport to resort was delayed and we had to wait for 3 hours for other tourists to join. Lack of food variety for vegetarians. No beach side dinner facility. No room service.

Review 40:Value for money, clean beach & neat common areas, good staff. We liked those talking pet parrots. we had best Snorkeling till date. Water sports has variety and good, however range for jetski is less. Honeymoon compliments was nice. Overall it is a good resort and definitely worth a visit.

Review 41:- No tea kettle in the room. - Speed boat staff shall advise to wear the life jacket for all passengers. ( It's frightening experience for first users of speed boat when sea is rough (boat jumps on the waves!!!). Always wear life jacket for peace of mind and your own safety when on board.)

Review 42:Lovely location, you fall in love with it when your speed boat approaches the jetty on arrival. Sort of your own private atoll. All the rooms are beachfront facing. Enjoyed Glass Bottom Boat, Sunset Dolphin Safari. First time Snorkeling was unforgettable experience. Water sports staff is friendly and helpful. Our son liked it so much that he wants to visit it once again....

Review 43:The srilankan manager at reception was so rude stupid and mean. He was unaccomodative and unhelpful. The resort is just busy in collecting dollars and do not listen to any of the thing.

Review 44:Two single beds joint together wasnt convinient at all.

Review 45:Mr and my partner stayed at fihalhohi initially which was a mistake! We loved our stay but we had the best part of our holiday first. Rooms are spacious, service is good. The functions held were enjoyable e.g DJ night, native performance and all sorts. People have left negative reviews howrver if your after a chilled time with a moderate budget abd bit $1000 per night this place is for you! Beach front rooms gave u privacy and you have that beach area to yourself. The buffet was totally amazing although im not a fan of buffet food. Your bound to gain a stone or two

Review 46:Internet, water, alcochol is very expensive. But it's almost everywhere in Maldives

Review 47:Coral reef near the island is fantastic, we're snorkelling all the time and saw different fushes and turtle and mantas! We went on dolphins safari and it was great! We saw many and it was amazing!

Review 48:The prices of water, internet, and anything in the island shop - so pack enough supplies with you. I found the dhoni boat ride from Guraidhoo much more enjoyable than the resort speedboat to Male.

Review 49:The room was very nice (got "premium" though booked "comfort"), the place is peaceful (don't expect much nightlife). Nice clean beaches and home reef for snorkelling (seen turtles, eagle rays, an eel, an octopuss...). Our half-board deal was in fact better value than the nearby Guraidhoo and Maafushi. Some complain over national segregation in the dining room, but I think they actually want to give you a table served by a waiter speaking your language, so you can make up your temporary nationality.

Review 50:The water sports and excursions are really expensive, so budget a bit more than what you expect to pay. The staff is helpful, but the communication is not very good (again, this is a 3 star resort).

Review 51:The island is beautiful, with water sports and excursions planned. The accommodation is good; it is not a brand new resort but the overall experience is fair for what you pay. There is an excellent house coral reef and beautiful beaches.

Review 52:Internet should extend throughout the resort and not limited to only certain rooms, reception and restaurant There are no tv's in the rooms...satelite or cable tv's should be installed The excursions were limited to a number of participants...most were cancelled due to lack of interest

Review 53:The clear blue waters is amazing....it is like swimming in a fish tank. There is no dress code ...people were literally walking barefoot in the restaurants..felt like home It is a definite "true island experience" Food was great...huge variety and fresh overall

Review 54:1. Bring water with you. Otherwise you will be stuck buying 500ml. of water for 6$ a bottle.2. Room Air con was old and extremely noisy. Impossible to sleep with it, and hard to sleep without it as it gets hot and humid very fast.3. Everything is expensive which you take for granted since it's Maldives, but for the level of service they provide this is a reap-off.4. Excursions: Took Whale shark sightseeing , didn't get to spot one, the island stay where we had lunch was badly organised spent unnecessary 2 hr. on it, instead of looking for whale shark and other sea creatures. 150$ for 6 hour bumpy road on a boat, expensive drinks on it is totally worthless. Wife did a massage that day and had spent 130$ with much better result. Please note that excursions for give any chance probability of seeing any sea creatures so you basically paying high price for a boat ride. If you do diving or planning to do it and 550$ price is in your limit - this will be much better investment than any excursion that is offered outside the island.5.Rooms are cleaned daily but bed sheets where never replaced through out 6 days stay.6. Had a horrible experience when our restaurant staff that was assigned to our table had put extra drinks on our tab, which we didn't realize and signed and then later on he didn't admit of it, so we had to pay extra fee for drinks we didn't order. What made it worse they normal conversation that became an argument with staff with no result. No, I didn't pay that much just a 6$ but the feeling when leaving island was ruined. - Make sure you check what you are signing for, otherwise you might end up with crazy bill for something you didn't order. Better to pay daily so you know what you are paying for. Heard similar stories for other couples who stayed there with same problem.7. Food, especially meat dishes overcooked dramatically, repetitive, spicy, but for my wife it was a bit to much so she had salads most of the time...

Review 55:Nice sandy Beech. House reef is impressive - Bring Hero Camera that is waterproof. or some other digital equipment that allows underwater photography/videography. If you are looking for a quite holidays next to the beach and you don't like sightseeing this might be that place for you. But if you like a bit of travelling discovering new places - avoid Maldives altogether. On and all, this might be interesting place to visit for first time on a budget. Nevertheless, if you have been before/visited Greece, Spain, Italy, Croatia islands this will be very different holiday. I didn't completely found it that amusing or magical as some would say, but we have done it and I'm not coming back.

Review 56:Having to come home.

Review 57:The wife and I have spent our last nine holidays on this Island. We havestayed on other Maldivian Islands, but the above is the one for us, andI believe it could be for you. You get what you pay for, and thats valuefor your money. You can stay at more luxurious Islands if you wish, andyou will have to pay top dollar for that privilege. From the moment youstep onto the Island you can take off your shoes, they will not beneeded again until you get back on the boat on your return to theairport. You will be greeted by all the staff on your arrival, from theexcellent mannered room boys, to the top management, you will bewelcomed, assisted, and helped in every way. You are definitely on theIsland 'where the sands of time stand still'. If you are lookingfor paradise, then look no further than Fihalhohi Island. We never inour wildest dreams thought that we could afford such a perfect holidaydestination, but we have, and we have returned nine times. Waiting tillSeptember 2015 for our tenth paradise holiday at the fihalhohi islandresort. Maldives.

Review 58:Resort was tired and old, lots of broken and damaged items in the rooms. Our room stank so badly we had to move. The mattress was wet and mouldy. Some staff were quite rude and did not do anything we asked. They say they coming to fix something but they never turn up. WARNING-The prices are inflated on a massive scale and you have no choice but to buy what they sell. They add 10% service charge on everything, which you have to pay.... ( discretionary everywhere else in the world) and then the usual government taxes. If you looking for a quite, relaxing break then this island is not for you...there are large groups of Oriental tours that visit and move around the island. They stay up late, wake up early and are mostly screaming and littering everywhere. We wont be going back!

Review 59:Great location, close to Male with a speedboat. The house reef was full of life and the water and beach clean. Some of the water sports staff and diving instructors were really great ( all young foreigners). The couple at the hire centre and the couple at the dive centre were very helpful, pleasant and friendly.

Review 60:Food is expensive, and doesn't offer a great variety..

Review 61:We had great time at Fihalhohi island resorts.. This is our first visit to Maldives and it lived upto the expectations.. Awsome locale with very supportive staff right from the time we landed at Male airport, transfer were easy and on time as committed, clean rooms all with close proximity to the beach, good options for snorkeling and water sports.. Overall a great place to relax and unwind.. Worth a visit..

Review 62:food a bit repetitive shortage of fresh fruits and selection room cleaning/replenishment poor

Review 63:location, rooms, water sports very good, tours very good

Review 64:Staff needs to be trained to be more customer service.

Review 65:We were lucky to be upgraded to water bungalow from standard room. It was value for money. Weather was just fine that we had many nice photos with blue sky, crystal water. Food was served as buffet that gave us more choices.

Review 66:**Mosquitos. **Fraud attempt of double paying on visa card when checking out. The cashier had the visa machine hidden away from your sight and made double withdrawals without telling me anything. I caught him through sms service from my bank and he made a refund and tried to explain that it was a mistake. **Pricey. I didn't like how they charge you $3.5 for water bottle **Food is ok. Not good not bad

Review 67:Nature Reef Wheather Friendly staff

Review 68:Took two hours to check in and both me and my partner got sick we think from the buffet and only one cashier for up to 400 guests at one time.

Review 69:The island is beautiful and relatively cheap for transfers to the island. The food and drinks are well priced as is the hire of watersports gear. The service staff are lovely and serve with a smile.

Review 70:1. cockroach in my room 2. some staff is rude 3. We were tricked into paying USD7 more for the food bill 4. pay 3 hours Internet fee but can access for 1 hour only. Talk to the staff but hopeless. spoil my holiday and very disappointed. I do not understand why they had a good mark after visit this resort.

Review 71:very expensive water! 3,5 usd per bottle (1,5lt). we bought 5 bottles in the airport but these weren't enough.limited activities and quite expensive (40 usd per person for night fishing). some of the receptionists we rude.

Review 72:we stayed in the resort for 5 nights,we upgraded the classic room we booked into a water villa for 143 usd per night and that worth the money.very clean rooms, cleaned twice per day. free codes of wi-fi. But if someone books other room type the internet costs a lot, you can buy a sim cart from the airport that can provides internet and calls in a cheaper packet. Amasing reef, we thought that we are swimming in a fantastic aquarium.Very clean beach and island. Nice spa center with relaxing types of massage.

Review 73:The cashier's attitude is really bad.If something costs $35.10, you are to pay $36, no change given. Don't bother to ask because the cashier will just lecture you. He could have informed us politely but he chose to be rude and snobby. What a turn off from this paradise. Also, quite a lot of bugs and insects, bring along your repellant spray everywhere you go.

Review 74:Staff generally professional. Waiters are extremely well-trained, friendly. Check-in was a breeze. Dive centre and watersports centre well equipped. 2 different excursions conducted on each day of a week. Food is decent. Waters clear, beach clean.

Review 75:No kettles in room - bring one, even just to boil water for drinking. Bring tea and coffee, again you have to pay if you want one. You have to purchase every drop you drink which is at a reasonable price but bad for the environment, especially water. (maybe bring water purification tablets) Our half board did not include drinks or alcohol. Watersports are all payable but the island per night pricing is so good, it's worth it.

Review 76:The beach and house reef are wonderful. Very easy to snorkel reef. Food is tasty and plentiful. Staff are very friendly. The room gets serviced twice a day. The spa was heavenly. The restaurant and chefs keep a spotless restaurant, very professional. The photos on the website do not do this little Island justice.

Review 77:• the coral reefs are too small, nothing much to see when I went snorkeling • the speed boat transfer is too expensive

Review 78:Cheaper than other resort. I didn't spend as much as I expected.

Review 79:Local trips for shopping to another island which was very boring and nothing to see or buy.

Review 80:Friendly staff, amazing location, drive from the airport to hotel, and the snorkeling.

Review 81:Wifi logon system is archaic. Dinner buffet starts far too late for young children...and adults!

Review 82:Setting is wonderful. Snorkelling superb.

Review 83:great location of the island, beach, home reef, friendly stuff

Review 84:Food

Review 89:every bit of property

Review 90:The Check in was not so easy and we waited more Than expected.

Review 91:Beach, sunset and food

Review 92:Apart from the breakfast, the food was just slightly above average.

Review 93:Love the peace and calmness !!... The water Villa was the best !! ...

Review 94:The manager at reception was unbelievable rude.

Review 95:Housekeeping need to be pushed to change sheets and towels

Review 96:Water bungalows and lobster candlelight dinner

Review 97:I requested a special request to do something for my wife s birthday.... nothing happened

Review 98:Colorful place to visit and relax

Review 99:The furniture in the standard and classic rooms

Review 100:The sand, the beach, the trees, and the reefs

Review 101:Staffs, food and convinience

Review 108:Ants in my room

Review 109:Reef Clean Water Food

Review 110:Internet was not free and the connection was so poor.Foods could have been better.

Review 111:Location.

Review 112:drinks, even water is not part of the package funny smell on moisture in the room

Review 113:nature, quit, water, entire resort, food

Review 114:staff were not friendly and lazy

Review 115:House reef

Review 116:The wifi, quite expensive and slow, 6usd per hour The food is normal

Review 117:Very late dinner

Review 118:location, nature of island - both ground and underwater. Restaurant buffet food is very diverse. Very good for relaxation

Review 119:No wifi

Review 120:Recerves and food

Review 121:unfriendly sfaff.. cost its too expensive as service of staff no activity at all.no supermarkit or any market will feel bord at holl night since sunset

Review 122:beach clear and nice only

Review 123:Staff could have been much friendlier. Buffets could have been much better

Review 124:The best cheapest option on entire Maldives. Plenty of activities to do. Good clean rooms

Review 125:Water is very costly ($4 for 1.5 L). recommend you buy it from airport or if you have time from Male supermarket

Review 126:Excellent Rooms, very clean. Good buffets. Go for full board if possible. A burger/sandwich is approx $12. Scuba Diving staff is very professional.

Review 127:The only issue was the range of the wi-fi and the cost of $6 for one hour.

Review 128:The staff were very nice to us, in particular Salomon at the bar and our waiter Shaham. Weather was fantastic and the reef was very good and well worth seeing. The food was nice and there was always something different. Overall I would definitely recommend Fihalhohi if your looking for a relaxing holiday with an excellent reef.

Review 129:Being vegans, we did not find much vegetarian food during lunch and dinner. Keeping in mind that majority of tourists are non-vegetarians, it is quite understandable that there was very limited vegetarian food. But it would have been better, if there were more veg options.

Review 130:We had a wonderful time at Fihalhohi Island Resort. The resort was awesome and a perfect place for honeymoon couples. There was enough privacy. The place is not too posh but simple and neat. Quite affordable for anyone - that is the best part! The staff was very friendly and we never had problems during our 4 day stay at the resort. There were some good water sports at a decent price. The rooms were very neat and housekeeping staff cleaned the room twice a day. On the whole, it was a very good experience for us at the island and we would definitely suggest this to our friends. We would rate it 10 on 10!

Review 131:No complementary water bottles except on the day of arrival.

Review 132:Enjoyed our stay there. Wonderful white sandy beach, beautiful reefs around the island make it good for snorkeling ( dont forget to carry an underwater camera or you can rent it from the watersports section in the resort) good food , Courteous and helpful staff, good excursions and water sports facilities

Review 133:10 out of 10! Nice food good cuisine variety, small prices. Lunch at the resort cheaper than in male,I was impressed! Very kind staff! Not posh or luxury but clean and comfortable. Lovely beach and great snorkling.I had a great time there!

Review 134:Location is far from Male (45 min. with speed boat). The boat fee is expensive. The wifi is not free. The mosquitoes give incovenience to people.

Review 135:Beach and view are excellent.

Review 136:Everything a bit expensive! But it's worth for the money!

Review 137:The coral reef is amazing!! The beach is the best!! Parasailing is a must do!! Snorkeling is wonderful!! The food is very good, the island is so beautiful, small and private! The water sport team is the best, we were welcomed with coconut water, very good service, shows every night at the bar! Restaurant by the sea, weather cool, everything really nice, on of the best holidays ever

Review 138:One hour left waiting at the airport for the boat.We did not get a baby cot for our daughter although we reserved one by email. Despite this inconvenience I would come back and recommend this place to everybody.
