Reviews for Amora Hotel Auckland
Review 1:The bed was a little soft, the pillow a little hard, the air conditioning does not really cool the room and is very noisy
Review 2:The space in the upgraded room
Review 3:There was quite a lot of water dripping from the ceiling, which made the carpet wet. The dripping noise kept us awake. We notified staff who came to inspect, but nothing more was done after that, which was a bit disappointing.
Review 4:Short on crockery, cutlery and teabags. Hand basin blocked and obviously cleaners did not pick this up.
Review 5:Majority of staff helpful and friendly. rasy walk to inner city bus stop.
Review 6:only one hour free wifi. rooms are quite outdated and tired looking. washing machine didn't work.
Review 7:the location is great - a quiet pretty street away from the noisy areas. The staff were helpful and nice on arrival.
Review 8:Staff were first class , location was excellent . I often come to Auckland but regularly stay near the viaduct , not any more I found the Aroma the near perfect accommodation provider . my regards to the operators of this fine establishment .
Review 9:The only thing I wasn't very pleased about was having to arrive at 2pm as it was the time I requested to check in when I made payments, being told that the rooms were not yet ready and that it may take a while so we waited and waited in the lobby. Took a while so my friends and I walked to get a bite. Came back and still had to wait for quite a bit. Then finally got our rooms. But the rooms were amazing. Great views, great location and it was what I asked for; upper level :)
Review 10:Staff were very nice especially the guy who looked after us that afternoon when we arrived. I'm not sure if I remember his name correctly but I think it was Amor or Amos. His customer service was amazing and he pretty much made us feel welcome.
Review 11:location was quite central bust opposite social housing, we heard lots of shouting and someimes fights. The room wasn't very clean, the curtains were torn, there were obiously some missing fixings on the walls from clothes hooks and paintings that were no longer there. The staff were friendly but weren't very communicative, they failed to notify me of a missing delivery and failed to prepare a bottle of wine in the room and let me know the cost in advance.
Review 12:comfortable bed
Review 13:noisy kids playing in the hallways by your rooms, noisy.no sound proof doors.elevators keeps playing up.have too go in and out sumtimes to reset buttons.
Review 14:parking,
Review 15:The air conditioner was quite loud.
Review 16:I liked the location of the hotel. It was right next to a park which my 7 year old loved. It was also close to Queen Street and K Road and within walking distance to Ponsonby. It had a great swimming pool.
Review 17:Not major, but water dropped through the gap between the bottom of the shower door and the top of the bath. So that after showering, there is a puddle of water on the floor.
Review 18:Big room and nice view, although only of nice green trees. Great location close to city but not too close, so nice and quiet.
Review 19:Some of the little things were a little off in an otherwise comfortable stay - the TV remote with oxidised batteries, the missing French Press plunger, the ripped sheet, the noisy standalone AC unit.
Review 20:The location overlooking Myers Park which provided a scenic connection to restaurants on Queen street was perfect for us. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 21:The duvet on our bed had old bloodstains on it....I removed it hoping it would be replaced the next day...it wasn't.
Review 22:Room service was prompt and polite.
Review 23:Cleaners banging about outside my door with trolleys every morning before 7am whilst talking loud etc.. drove me insane! Rooms a little dated and tired. Shutters on the bath were jammed open, Everything just needs a refresh.
Review 24:Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Kitchenette and washing facilities in room were a bonus. Food was of good quality
Review 25:Not really worth the money as you have to pay extra for parking first of all then the rooms not ready as you get there none of the light switches were working in room, many other auckland hotels are worth the money nore than this, shouldnt really be a 5 star hotel.
Review 26:Nice bed and room.
Review 27:I didnt like being charged $70.00 for dry cleaning as I got my lady thing and I was told Id been charged $70.00 for this, this couldve happened to anybody and I dont find it very nice!
Review 28:Bed was a bit soft and the air conditioning unit didn't work that well. Was muggy and hot in the building everywhere. I also would have liked cooked breakfast menu option rather than buffet style. Water cooler in lobby would also be a bonus and good quality umbrellas available for guest use.
Review 29:The quiet tree lined street with on street parking in the city!!!
Review 30:The buffet breakfast wasnt that nice, the air conditioning in the room was loud so couldn't sleep with it on.
Review 31:Staff were extremely polite, rooms were nice.
Review 32:Thought the height of the bath was too high. Other than this maybe a few little things but overall very good.
Review 33:Staff were polite, room was very tidy and spacious. Great view to the Sky tower. The parking was a little tight to get around but all good. Would definitely stay here again!
Review 34:We tried to wash and dry our laundry. The dryer broke leaving us with hanging clothes in our car for the rest of our travels. One of the pipes was leaking water through the light fixture in the downstairs bathroom. We were afraid to turn on the light. It was a bit pricey to have these problems.
Review 35:We really enjoyed the location and atmosphere of the hotel. We stayed in a penthouse room and it was beautiful.
Review 36:Wifi not free as advertised. Only 1 hr per day. Room poorly maintained. Washing machine stained clothes. Shower very slippery. Staff slow to provide mat which was dirty. Shower was moldy. No fan in shower. No wall tween toilet and bed, only shutters. Towel shredded.
Review 37:Bed was very comfortable. Had washing machine in the room.
Review 38:A bit noisy -it was very warm so we had the door open pm but the "city noises "& air conditioning very noisy & unsettling A real shame!
Review 39:Balcony very relaxing 2 have fresh air
Review 40:We had the spa bath room but the spa didn't work! :( The other thing was the breakfast which was great but the cost (continital $21 and cooked $28) was over the top! Also to not get free WiFi (we were given 1 hour free) and parking ($20 a night) seems a little stingy considering the cost of the room.
Review 41:Great staff at reception..plus great big room and very close to Queen Street.
Review 42:20 dollars per night for a parking spot that sucked , I thought thatwould come free with reservation
Review 43:How clean everything was and How friendly all the staff were
Review 44:The hotel looks better in the photos, it is rather shabby really, the wall-to-wall carpet is old, the kitchenette cupboards are cheap anddon't shut properly. The swimming pool is very small. We also had to pay an extra 10$ for the second night although we hadbooked in advance. They told us that "the prices had gone up"?
Review 45:The beds were comfortable
Review 46:air-conditioner did not work very hot night, had window open very noisy. 1 glass to drink from asked for more got 3 mugs. spa bath which we paid extra did not go been coming for 4 years, not any more
Review 47:The bed was fabulous, the breakfast nice
Review 48:Was more i didnt like about this hotel. And i wouldnt stay her again. We arrived after 3pm and had to wait while the receptionist phoned to check our room was ready. She said she had to get someone to go and check it had been done. I reminded her it was after 3. Took about another 15min. Wasnt bathmats so they brought them straight away. For the amount of money they charge they could have at least cleaned the pool and got rid off the pieogons that seem to own the whole outside area. Was definitely not as flash as the website makes it out to be. Which was disappointing.
Review 49:I liked that the hotel was close to the city. The restaurant had lovely food. When the washing machine wouldnt dry my friends clothes they took them and dryed them for her. Which was nice.
Review 50:Staff was welcoming. I arrived in Auckland very early in the morning and was offered an early check-in when I went to drop my bags there. Room was spacious and clean. Good location, just a street away from Queen's Street and 5 mins to the centre.
Review 51:The rooms are a little tired, worn carpets, musty smelling curtains, cracked tiles, old fridge. Disappointing that the room was only one of 10, the web site made it look as though it were a penthouse. Breakfast needs reviewing, those were most likely powdered eggs, not nice.
Review 52:Location is good, not too noisy. Relatively good value for money. Having complimentary parking and WIFI with our room was great.
Review 53:There was not 1 towel etc in room when we got to room and there was no extra blankets for colder nghts that i could find and possibly abit more info about the attractions and transportation of Auckland in the room without gathering heeps of pamphlets down stairs
Review 54:The closeness of the cbd,the room had little extras like microwave, ironing board
Review 55:Staff on front desk seemed put out by the fact we did not want to use our pool towels to shower with as well.
Review 56:Location and view were amazing. Had clear view of skytower from our room.
Review 57:Mostly little things, the bed was sensitive to movement, ie, every timeI moved my wife woke up. No unlimited free wifi. Charging $20 for a carpark when its free on the street on Sundays, we only found this outlater of course.
Review 58:Staff were somewhat helpful, Location was good enough if you don'tmind a short walk.
Review 59:Noisy aircon units, sliding door not close, shower over a bath
Review 60:Value for money, spacious rooms, quick walk to one of our favourite coffee and breakfast place - Alleluya
Review 61:Large very noisy air conditioning unit which we had to turn off and so quite uncomfortably hot during the night.
Review 62:Lovely hotel and rooms were a good generous size.
Review 63:Car park spaces narrow and difficult to get into especially where there are columns
Review 64:I liked the standard of the decor and the openness when sitting on the balcony for breakfast overlooking the park (not being enclosed by walls of other buildings. There was no traffic noise at all during the night
Review 65:The staff were hard to communicate with, the parking was difficult, the room cleanliness was very poor & had a strange smell, the shower flooded the bathroom floor, couldnt have the aircon on when your in the room as it sounds like a continuous vacuum operating, not helpful on a hot summer night.
Review 66:The location, view from the room.
Review 67:Room looked and felt like it was in need of refurbishment. Old fixtures - antique - noisy - portable air conditioning unit.
Review 68:Good location as we were attending a performance @ "Q Theatre'.
Review 69:Couple of broken things, the wardrobe door, as well as the soap holder by the spa bath which both things would have taken 2 minutes to fix. For the price I payed you don't really expect that. Can also tell a few things need a touch up as looking dated
Review 70:Loved the spa bath and view as well as location. Nice and easy to get to queens st. Also easy to catch the city link up to pitt st, so that its a downhill walk to the amora, if you have bags or shopping
Review 71:a/c doesn't work and is noisy. staff indifferent. breakfast is not included and is expensive. internet is not included and is expensive. so old fashioned approach to hostelry.
Review 72:nice view, bed comfortable
Review 73:The lack of cleaning that had been done.... Doors had black smudges, skirting was dusty, bottom of the bathroom door is worn and daggy looking and there was rubbish under the floor fan/heeater
Review 74:Too much hustle-bustle with the payment/via Visa...some improvements needed in an old 'hospice' system...also,treat NZ senior-citizens more respectfully...
Review 75:Room view,quietness...
Review 76:We had an issue with our shower on the first night, and then later an issue with our leaking air con machine. This was quite inconvenient after a long day of traveling but I must admit the staff were very helpful and did offer us a complimentary breakfast to make up for any inconvenience. thanks guys
Review 77:We were asked if staff could show the room to potential buyers of the apartment whilst we were staying there. Was not impressed as at the least I was expecting privacy and did not expect an open home request. Staff seemed surprised that we said no to this request.
Review 78:The shower screen (door) did not fit correctly so water ran down to the bathroom floor. Making the floor very slippery ,
Review 79:Basically the hotel was what I expected
Review 80:Wifi is not free in hotel though 2-hr free wifi was provided to us during our stay, but needed to be used in one-go.
Review 81:The staff were friendly in overall.
Review 82:The hotel needs a revamp. It is tidy but tired. I would stay there again for the location though. The pool is very small and the hot tub is not deep enough to sit in comfortably without getting cold shoulders. I also didn't like the fact that housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:30 am on the day I was checking out, asking what time I was leaving. I thought it was rude.
Review 83:Great location, room tidy, nice linen on beds.
Review 84:Housekeeping was really bad Room not properly clean both days Spoke to duty manager who witnessed the room and could not defend the situation
Review 85:Space in the room, balcony
Review 86:The booking process clearly was faulty as the hotel had us booked under a different name to the one that was supplied ... at the 3.30pm check in there were delays as the hotel had to allocate rooms etc
Review 87:The staff member apon arrival at reception wasn't the most welcoming,a staff member walked in to our room unannounced to check mini bar first hour if stay, was funny smell in our toilet on first day, didnt think paying so much for a room then having to pay $20 a night for parking was good especialy at top end of city
Review 88:The restaraunt, food and staff were excellent, the swimming pool area with spa was great, the room with balcony was ok
Review 89:When I went to pay the next morning (around 8.45am) I found that the hotel had already debited my account at 6am. I thought that was very rude as I had intended to pay by Eftpos and not by Visa Debit. The hotel was advised of this the evening before, and on my booking application. The hotel would have saved themselves a card cost - and so would I.
Review 90:It was a very brief stay but the staff ( young women on the evening shift) were very helpful.
Review 91:Room not ready when we arrived. Not told when it was ready. Toilet flushed on its own five minutes after being flushed. Bathroom in penthouse suite outdated.
Review 92:Buffet breakfast was excellent.
Review 93:Ordered a ginger beer in the bar. Was given half out of an already opened bottle and then half of another bottle. This is not good safe practice.
Review 94:Clean. Good location.
Review 95:- no free internet, they charge 10 $ for 24 h and thats in a civilized country - no free coffee in the room, they carge you 7$ for this. I travel a lot for work and have never seen anything similar.
Review 96:- rooms are big - balcony that you can use - staff is friendly
Review 97:The bathroom was in need of a makeover, bit of mould in places and the partial shower door didn't seal against the bath so floor, bath mat and any clothing got really wet. Not a big deal, just annoying.
Review 98:Wonderful staff especially Joseph in the bar and restaurant. Nicely appointed room, great location out of the bustle of town but easy walking distance to everywhere. Bar a lovely place to relax after a long day sightseeing.
Review 99:Shower curtains were dirty with mould, Duvet was stained. There was dust on light switches & soap rack in bathroom. Cutlery was an odd match & the rubbish bin was broken. Furthermore, our room was never serviced in the 3 nights we stayed.
Review 100:Short walk to town
Review 101:Single glazed Windows made for a very disturbed sleep on Saturday night, a lot of black mould in grouting in shower and baby got black trousers from crawling in the carpet so must have been very grubby although not obviously visible, charged $30 for a coy but didn't tell us this until check out which I think is ridiculous and not needed.
Review 102:The room was roomy, onsite parking very convenient
Review 103:The closeness to everything it was a marvellous weekend. The room service was excellent. I wished we had booked to stay another couple of nights maybe next time
Review 104:the internet is not free, you only get one hour and it disconnects every 5 minutes, worst of all, they expect you to pay $10 NZD for 24 hour, what a rip off.
Review 105:nice location, close to all major stores
Review 106:Amazing Service from all the staff and a very relaxing and comfortable environment. Guarantee I will be coming back and will pass this on to other people.
Review 107:Due to the theft of my wallet I was unable to give the bond (no cards)and had to sit in reception until my partner arrived four hours laterwith cash. Very annoying as I have been there before!!!!! Will neverstay again.
Review 108:Nice room and good restaurant
Review 109:The admin/phone staff werent very helpful. I felt like my calls were always an inconvinience. Parking was a hassle! There are reserved parking spaces which didnt leave many spare for hotel customers.
Review 110:We loved the spa bath though!
Review 111:Had 2 rooms for 2 nights and had to pay bond off $800. There was a strong intermittent smell of sewage emanating from the drain hole in the bathroom floor. Restaurant meal very disappointing
Review 112:Location
Review 113:The room was not equipped appropriately for an apartment. There was hardly any crockery & no way to properly prepare & eat fresh food. There was not even a breakfast bowl. Bed was small and uncomfortable.
Review 114:First cooked breakfast through room service was excellent next morning was stone cold.
Review 115:I loved the location room and facilties.Staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 116:Rooms are needing upgrading, starting to look worn, cracks in tiles, scuff marks on entrance door, kitchen utensils worn, fading etc Not sure I will stay here again. Reception told my husband I was not booked in at all, yet I had been there half an hour and was awaiting his arrival. No apology. Very poor visit this time.
Review 117:location
Review 118:A staff member took my phone number off the computer system and sent me inappropriate messages. When I laid a complaint the general manager literally ran away from me
Review 119:No complaints at all- was a great stay!
Review 120:The hotel is beautifully kept and has a lovely charm to it. The room was lovely and the added bonus of private balcony and in room spa bath made our stay great!
Review 121:The wifi is horrendous and when you are there on business this makes a significant difference. Not only does it drop out but you only receive one hour a day the paid wifi is no better after a few minutes it logs you out so over the course of a week I had to log in with a long number 40 plus times. Infuriating to say the least. Then after 24 hours you have to phone reception for a code. In 2015 and for over $200 a night I expected more.
Review 122:Comfortable beds
Review 123:dirty bathrooms toilet not cleaned. mouldy bed linen. curtins not on tracks. room didn't have the extras that they advistise . not a pleasant stay at all way over priced for what we got
Review 124:no extractor fan in bathroom, window coverings could block out more light,no extra blankets
Review 125:teas, comfy bed, allowed late checkout, location, easy (pay) parking, spa bath, heater in room
Review 126:reception staff could have been a little more approachable as we only held a debit card aNd not a credit card he could've thought outside the square A little more after a big day I had to sit and wait for my husband to arrive and he wouldn't let me go to the room. also didn't like the fact you had to pay for plunger coffee!
Review 127:Having to get the staff to buzz you in after hours instead of being able to use your room key to enter.
Review 128:The perfect location, the Spa Bath, the relative quiet of our room, the balcony with a lovely view of Aukland city.
Review 129:The shower was awful. No pressure and the shower head was broken. There was also a lot of mould in the grout of the tiles and the towels where thin, hard and stunk of bleach.
Review 130:I didn't like the fact I had to pay $20 for parking. There appeared to be a lot of empty car Parks also, maybe this cost should be included in the cost of the room.
Review 131:I would have prefered to have more internet included in the room as we ran out during a movie. However it was easy to obtain more so overall not a big problem
Review 132:A nice stay, the bed was very comfortable. I was a little nervous reading some other reviews about faulty spa baths and loud air conditioners, however I did not find any of these problems to apply to my stay which was very pleasurable
Review 133:At check-in staff were rude and we were not informed that parking was $20 per day. They messed up our booking and tried to charge us twice. Wanted to come in and change the furniture during our stay which was inappropriate! Food was overpriced and tasteless. ie breakfast pancakes came with banana and mixed berries, no maple syrup, no cream, no butter etc.
