Reviews for Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro

Review 1:poor wi-fi, preatty expensive

Review 2:helpful hotel stuff, very good breakfast, swimming pool and private beach, big room, beautiful view on the sea and city centre

Review 3:15 Euros charge each per a day for hotel sunbeds. Food was not so great in Blue restaurant. TV did not work. Wireless is poor.

Review 4:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beach is beautiful, but shallow, so it is good and secure for kids. Nice people on the beach.

Review 5:Wifi is working but need more speed and to upgrade it. It is very important to have good Wifi when you are travelling. It is one of the most important things to day in hotels.

Review 6:Good service and perfect loaction. The beach is very nice.

Review 7:breakfast always the same every morning

Review 8:Nice beach, clear water, clean and nice hotel, staff very kindly, super restaurant, good city with good eating places.

Review 9:Just got back from a weeks holiday at the Gabbiano. Fabulous hotel, couldn't fault it. Very clean & tidy, staff were very helpful. Pool & beach were beautiful. Would highly recommend it!

Review 10:English not catered for. No resort information in English. No tea/coffee making facilities in room, tho managed to get kettle for room. No sign for toilets by beach. Floor around pool dangerous.

Review 11:Comfortable room. Lovely beach.

Review 12:It was noisy enough when dump track took the waste; it was especially uncomfortable, when it occurred early in the morning.

Review 13:Everything was very nice: tasty food, clean rooms and wonderful beach. And it was comfortable to reserve a current sun umbrella during our stay so you don't need to wake up early in the morning to occupy it. And this hotel is not far from the center of the Golfo Aranchi so you always can go for a walk to the town.

Review 14:Conflicting information provided by reception staff - the majority were very helpful & knowledgeable but one young man in particular seemed ill-informed about such things as bookable excursions. I queried re booking a trip which he had no knowledge of and thought I was mistaken? I had to show him the print out from their web-site before he believed me and begrudgingly said he would make enquiries. Re the restaurant - We booked well in advance for a specific table for dinner in the restaurant in the corner overlooking the sea for the last night of our stay for our anniversary only to find that it had been taken up by a group of Germans. We were then given an alternative table in a less than favourable position near the entrance walkway. I politely asked the head waiter why we had not been given the table which we had booked? He just muttered that if was for 4 people and not 2? A less than adequate excuse for what appeared to be a mistake on his part. He was then very moody with us for the rest of the evening. We did not make any fuss aoart from querying the initial error but he was very scowly with us for the rest of the night. The other staff were delightful, however, which is why I did not bother to complain about his attitude as it would have spoilt the evening even more. I hasten to add that the food served was exceptional, such a shame he had an attitude problem that night. I was glad it was our last night as it would have put me off returning.

Review 15:Wonderful views. Lovely sea facing room with private balcony. Nice breakfast. Majority of staff friendly and knowledgeable

Review 16:Not really enough space around the pool or sun loungers but we were there in August.

Review 17:Amazing location right by the sea with really fabulous restaurant with sea views and great food and service.

Review 18:Price of the sun bed hire was extortionate Restaurant for evening meals was pretentious and over-priced Not worth the extra cost for the sea-view

Review 19:Great location Very comfortable hotel Excellent staff, efficient and helpful Generous breakfast

Review 20:Beach lounges/umbrella should be included in room price. Some Bottled water should have been provided in rooms daily as staff belatedly advised that tap water was not drinkable.

Review 21:Great views, lovely beach and pool. Terrace restaurant good for breakfast and dinner. Staff helpful and rooms comfortable. Good location with other restaurants nearby for dinner.

Review 22:Not enough sunbeds for guests around pool especially but in total. Had to pay for sunbeds on beach (if you could get one) Private beach too small for peak season

Review 23:Friendliness and service of Staff Location Food

Review 24:Very shallow sea on the hotel's beach, construction works right behind the beach, very modest room; more a family hotel, nowhere to go in the evening compared to the main resorts like Baia Sardinia and Porto Cervo

Review 25:Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with some dishes being a piece of art; incredible service - the owner herself gave me a lift to one of the nearest beaches when the taxi didn't come; change of towels twice a day

Review 26:Menu for small children does not exist (I mean healthy food without salt, steam cooked, freshly made juices, etc). We spend 4 days to explain that we need a portion of 400 ml of vegitable soup with 50 g of meat. Extra services are quite expensive. Beach itself was clean, but every day we had to take out 10-20 pieces of crashed glass bottles from the first 2-3 meters into the water. Personnel refused to clean that area, even though entrance fee was 15€/person.

Review 27:Clean, perfect sand beach for small children (200 m with depth less than 1 meter), generally very polite and helpful personnel. Possible to order food not from menu. Very professional barman.

Review 28:Drinking water not readily available.

Review 29:Staff were friendly and very helpful - gave us some great advice on places to visit and shared some excellent restaurant suggestions. Breakfasts were very good!

Review 30:Our only criticisms would be that the most of the "hot" food was more lukewarm than hot - you certainly wouldn't burn your mouth ! - and that there was no complimentary bottled water provided.

Review 31:My wife and I had a 4 night "mini-moon" at Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro (21-25 July). I booked a superior double room with a sea view and the view across Golfo Aranci was fabulous. As other contributors have noted, the room was very comfortable though quite compact. The room had air conditioning though the a/c unit was on the balcony so that got quite hot ! The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Shortly after accessing our room, a lovely plate of fresh fruit was delivered. The pool area is not that big (under 20 sun beds) but the pool staff (available 10am until 1pm then 3pm to 7pm) very attentive and the beds with the mattresses are very comfortable. We opted to stay by the pool (free with a voucher obtained from reception) and take a short walk to the shallow sea rather than pay EUR30 per day for beds/umbrella on the private beach. We had dinner at the hotel on our first night and had a couple of lunches there too but opted to eat out on the other evenings. We would certainly recommend La Sprigola Restaurant on the beach, about 5 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, we had a very relaxing stay

Review 32:- Excellent location at the sea front and next to beaches - Clean and tidy hotel, well maintained - Nice variety of food for breakfast - Kind and service oriented personnel

Review 33:Constuction site by the private beach and having to pay 30 euros per day for sunbeds No secure parking No porter for luggage Two single beds not one double Hard mattress and pillows Below average breakfast - lack of hot food choice No bath

Review 34:Great location in Golfo Aranci, lots of restaurants nearby Sea view room Friendly staff Room cleanliness Reasonably priced drinks Air conditioning

Review 35:The cost of 30 euroes for two beds and umbrella on the private beach perday was too expensive.

Review 36:Lovely family run hotel, with wonderful staff. Very comfortable bed andfluffy white towels which were replaced if required in the evening.Aircon worked well without being noisy. Great selection at breakfastwith the usual eggs, bacon, sausages and a variety of cheeses, lovelyhomemade ham and Italian breads as well as delicious little applecakes. It was a real treat to have a lovely cappaccino or two atbreakfast time.

Review 37:1. Awful state of the rooms. It looks like the last renovation (if any) was done 20 years ago minimum. 2. The most shocking was bathroom: broken shower head, rusty bathtube, broken toilette seat, total impression of insanitary conditions. 3. The sea entry is knee depth (my height is 170 cm) for about 100 m. 4. Service: the waiters do not care for you at all. We had been waiting for the waiter to remove dirty dishes for half an hour while the waiter was flirting with 3 women and offering to accompany them somewhere in the evening (he talked loud and I understand Italian). 4. There is no place to go in the evening, but it is not the fault of the hotel. To say the place is "quiet" means to say nothing. I really do not understand what they charge 300 Euro per night for. It is like a 2 star hotel, extremely old and dirty.

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:-To Many unknowns -Facility & amenities not available to our disposal , due to a private event! -Guest need more personalize attention.

Review 40:-Good Ambiance -Great staff

Review 41:Great location with view over the bay.Good outdoor pool.

Review 42:Only tiny issue would be the weak wi-fi in rooms

Review 43:Amazing staff- amazing food- feet hotel and private beach

Review 44:Location & Beach !

Review 45:It's really very very good in General .

Review 46:location and staff

Review 47:Paying for the beach 39€ / 2 pax / day

Review 48:Room/location/breakfast

Review 49:Nothing negative to say about our stay. The restaurant Blu has a creative and accommodating chef. The restaurant staff and hotel staff were super.

Review 50:Saga holiday destination. Cement bags for pillows. Poor wifi cover in rooms.

Review 51:Staff reasonably helpful. Nice beach resort. Quite location.

Review 52:Breakfast and staff

Review 53:Don't let the staff tell toy where to park use the street

Review 54:The bed was good and nice aspect

Review 55:Price!

Review 56:Staff where very helpful and friendly. We loved having fresh towels in the evening after showering from the pool or sea, very thoughtful

Review 57:nothing

Review 58:Great location and facility. Staff was very helpful. Outstanding breakfast.

Review 59:Beach bar not open at end of May so no suitable lunchtime menu. Hotel called this out of season.

Review 60:Position of hotel in bay. Very clean & ell kept property. Change of towels twice daily. Bedding change daily. Good food

Review 61:Leaving :-( I prefer an actual double bed than two singles pushed together. Choice of pillow would have been a nice touch

Review 62:Staff really friendly and caring. Food was excellent, tried many new foods and were very impressed. The bay is beautiful

Review 63:The food could have been slightly better, although the breakfasts had a huge selection.

Review 64:The beach was wonderful and the terrace overlooking the sea was amazing for an afternoon drink.

Review 65:The rooms are quite old fashioned but a bed is a bed so not a priority for me.

Review 66:The outside areas - pool, beach, terrace tables are all really lovely. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a beautiful view too. The breakfast is also excellent.

Review 67:Rooms are too small for that price, garden view rooms are not that nice. There was not mach space. The swiming pool is 3 m deep - not good for children. Expencive dinner (35 euro pro person)

Review 68:The lobby, the beach with sunbeds, the atmospere, the view was very pritty. Quite good breakfast.

Review 69:You are constantly pestered by sellers on the beach. This is not the Hotels fault but needs to be addressed as it can spoil the experience a little.

Review 70:Could not fault the hotel and staff they were Excellent.

Review 71:The hotel was exceptionally comfortable and the the staff were the most friendly people we have met in the last ten years of travel. The food in the hotel was exceptional and of course the location was fantastic

Review 72:Old fashioned-dated 80's hotel, small concrete pool,no window in the bathroom....overall disapointment. They don't even have cards for the rooms, they still work with heavy keys...the safe doesn't have a combination, again works with big keys, that you have to pay 50euro deposit to get! I would never call it luxurious as many have written in their reviews.

Review 73:Big -bright rooms.

Review 74:i feel they should up grade their pillows very flat & hard. The beach attached to hotel wasn't my favorite beach in sardenia, photos made it seem much larger & more private.

Review 75:wonderful staff.. Lovely environment, beautiful views from all windows throughout hotel. Food was very good.at their restaurant. Gorgeous location, nice restaurants within walking distance.

Review 76:Shower recess very small and some rooms with very little sea views.

Review 77:Position was amazing and the staff very helpful and friendly, esp the front desk and wait staff. We stayed there for over a week and were lucky to get a room with an amazing view. Half board was great value.

Review 78:Construction site next door. Although it could not be seen from the hotel, the noise was disturbing around the pool. Should be finished this year.

Review 79:Fabulous location, incredible views, efficient and friendly staff. Pure luxury. Superb food. One of the best hotels in Sardinia.

Review 80:I felt it was overpriced for the facilities and quality that the hotelprovided - I didn't think it was a 4 * but maybe 3*. The first roomwe were given was quite basic and almost corporate in feel and constantnoise of kitchen extract / air conditioning unit from below allnight (but they did then move us to another room which was a bit better)-did generally feel that it was a 1950's hotel with a basic makeover. When I arrived the staff didn't tell me about the hotel, like thefact that there was a tv room, with free computer/internet accessand books, nor where the restaurant / breakfast would be served. They just handed a sheet to me, which gave the times of breakfast etc.The town was like a ghost town, with nothing to do, no one around. Charge of 50 euros to the airport which was only 15 min drive was extortionate. The lack of other transport was very limiting. We did take a bus and train to the hotel originally, but the train only operates about 4 x a day - no good for going to visit other places etc. Which was difficult as it rained for half our trip and there was nothing to do nad the hotel had limited places to be if it rained.

Review 81:Being right on the beach was great. Staff/management very helpful ,efficient and professional. Breakfast was very good. Restaurants andfood in town were good

Review 82:A fantastic hotel in a great location. The staff were very friendly, polite and extremely helpful and efficient. The meal we ate in the hotel's restaurant overlooking the beach was wonderful and the service was excellent.

Review 83:Great lounge and social areas for relaxing when the weather isn't quite as good as you had hoped. Friendly staff, in particular the bar staff. Very attentive and professional.

Review 84:Although the hotel staff were amazing and the food was of a goodstandard, it wasn't a great routine for our 16 month old! Dinnerwasn't available until 7pm onwards which of course left us wonderingwhat to feed our little one as by 7pm it's usually almost bed time. That said the hotel accommodated us in the best way they could and heeven got room service one evening! Otherwise a great place to stay andenjoy the surrounding landscapes and beaches.

Review 85:Golfo Aranci is a great base for exploring the Costa Smeralda area ofSardinia (car rental recommended). The hotel has everything you wouldwant for a nice relaxing break away (private beach, quite pool area, terrace by the pool for dining and sipping nice drinks etc). My husbandand I chose the half-board option and the menu changed every night whichwas great as we always had some new options to look forward to. Thewaiting staff were amazing - very professional and polite. I woulddefinitely consider returning some day.

Review 86:Golfo Aranci is a small seaside village very quiet.

Review 87:The owners are wonderful, friendly, and thoughtful. The hotel, room 204 is exceptional sea view. I highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast was outstanding.

Review 88:WiFi is not free inside the room.

Review 89:Excellent hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Good, clean & spacious room, brilliant decor and ambiance, good facilities, good restaurant. Nice beach. Worth the money spent. highly recommended.

Review 90:Since our room was right above the bar, it was loud until midnight butthen luckily the music stopped so we could get some sleep.

Review 91:Most outstanding was the extremely friendly, competent and highlyservice orientated reception!!! (Which was one of the reason we chosethis hotel - as we had read about this) we had forgotten to return hoteltowels of our previous hotel and found them in our rental car and hencewanted to return them by post - reception at Gabbiano Azzuro HOtel tookcare of this completely, immediately ringing the other hotel, findingout the address and taking care of the postage back - that s what wecall outstanding service!! Also very helpful with every other enquiry...food was excellent. about 30 min from olbia airport - but still right at a beach we were there just for one night before take off back home, perfect for that... also we kindly got an upgrade to our room which we enjoyed a lot - with private jaccuzzi...

Review 92:Absolutely everything was wonderful. The staff was professional and extremely attentive. The food was superb. The location was tropical and beautiful. The hotel was spotless. We left a hotel in a different city on the island for the paradise of Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro.

Review 93:The Gabbiano is a "little treasure" it is the perfect hotel for those that want a fantastic get away from it all holiday. The Beach is spectacular with crustal clear waters delightful sand. Why travel 9 hours anywhere when you can experience the idyllic setting and fantastic food on offer at this hotel. The cleaners are amazing and it is one of the best maintained hotels. Great place to go - we will go again

Review 94:Relaxing, lovely view, warm, safe and calm sea, dinner on the terrace, friendly relaxed staff. We forgot our beach bag in the room when we leftand they found it and posted it back to us in Geneva.

Review 95:Front staffs has good jobs but better make more smile.

Review 96:very good white sand beach in front of hotel. restaurant has a lot of choice of foods and we could enjoy several because menu was changing everyday. restaurant staffs were frendly. Comfortable room with aircondition and a lot of program of TV without extra charge. Room cleaning level was also perfect compare to other italian hotel i have stayed.

Review 97:It was very high price .This hotel is for old people without kids. There is nothing to do with kids there.

Review 98:The onliest thing that I liked there was the position of the hotel just in the beach.

Review 99:The beach was nice, but paying 30 euro for sunbed and umbrella per dayis too much. And you cannot stay at the hotel's private beach if youaren't using that sunbeds. The other part of beach is crowded (inAugust). Some of young waiters aren't doing their job well, you have towait. The beds are short :( I'm 1.73 m but I could sleep only if Iplaced my body diagonally)) a bit borring staying here for young people,as there's nowhere to go. Need to take taxi to go to the club/disco.

Review 100:Beautiful nature, crystal sea! The rooms are nice, big balcony, plasmatv, towels changed and beds done 2 times a day! Breakfast is the sameeveryday, but food is healthy and well cooked! Dinner is awesome! Bigchoice! Well cooked, nicely decorated so I took pictures of it! Good forcouples and families with young children. There's a man who plays pianoin the bar :) free beach towels. Nice hotel!

Review 101:It's not a 4 star hotel at all, it's a small family hotel that pretendto be a 4 star, but it's no for sure. They only have the prices like 4star hotels, but nothing more. Internet does not work at all, but theowners always have reasons for this (rain, sun, etc., to my kind theydon't want to pay for the good Internet), rooms are small, territory ofthe hotel is very small, breakfast is poor, owners save on everythingthey can. You feel disappointed when you come there because everythingthey write about the hotel is not true. Bear in mind that Golfo Aranchiis just a small village with one main street, and there is no place towalk with the kid, as they have no shadow streets and sun is everywherefrom 09 till 19.

Review 102:Rooms were clean enough, sandy beach is near the hotel, suitable forsmall kids, as the sea is not deep, although the beach is not wide (butGolfo Aranchi is a small village and all the beaches there are near you,all of them are the same, so it's not a hotel's advantage)

Review 103:Maybe a gym would be a nice addition.

Review 104:Staff was amazing, they are so helpful and nice. The restaurant (Blu) served beautiful food, the location of restaurant is amazing, so romantic right by the sea. Lovely breakfast, fruit so fresh and bread is so nice. Cocktails at the bar were awesome. Mojito and Gabbiano Azzuro as my favorites. Definitely going back!

Review 105:Although the hotel is on its own private beach, the cost of the beds andan umbrella is €30 per day, which is very high, as 5 mins down the roadat the next beach you can pay €15-18 per day. Also the parking can be"hit and miss" as the hotel although facing the sea is actually locatedin a residential area and parking is in the residential roads.

Review 106:The staff both at reception and the bar were very friendly and helpful. The younger staff more so, they could not be more accomodating andalways greeted you with a smile and ready to help. The location of thehotel was by the beach and the views were fabulous. Also not forgettingthe staff that cleaned the rooms who performed an excellent job.Breakfast was plentiful and an excellent choice of foods was availableon a daily basis.

Review 107:The hotel needs a fitness area.

Review 108:We learned about it from the Internet. The hotel came to ourexpectations. It is the best in the area. Large space, cosy front yard, cofortable dining room, bars and marvellous terrace restraunt! In themenu everyone can find a lot of fantastic dishes to the taste. Localwine and fish are amazing. Waiters are experienced and helpful. Thestaff at the reception are extremely professional, speak severallanguages and always ready to help. They were enthusiastic and creativewhile helping me to arrange celebration of my husband's birthday. (Special gratitude and appreciation to luca!). They also arranged sea andland tours for us. Friendly and homelike atmosphere made our stayunforgetful!

Review 109:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location right next to thebeach was beautiful, and you have the amenities of the hotel for lunchetc close by. Our room was spotless, a change of towels twice a day.Breakfast was great, fresh fruit, meat, cheese, cooked breakfast, cereal, pastries, even prosecco, everything you could possibly want. Weate at the hotel a la carte restaurant a few times which was verygood.Sergio was very helpful. Golfo Aranchi was very quiet, and a carwould be a good idea if you want a bit more going on.We had a relaxingholiday at a brilliant hotel, we will be back next year.

Review 110:Food at the restaurant was not what Sardinian/Italian cousine should be.Nice breakfast, yet for dinner- quite poor! Chef should be changed.

Review 111:Very friendly and helpfull staff. Luca and his colleagues assisted us inorganizing our leisure time, etc. Large and comfortable rooms, greatviews, large private beach. Great place. Highly recommended. Pricing isat the premium level, yet, except for food- worth it. Only sea viewrooms shall be booked!!!

Review 112:It is very very nice hotel and great location. The staff was very friendly and the owner of the hotel young inteligent woman, were very careful. Good restaurant, rich breakfast buffet, nice beach. Highly recomended. Best wishes from Lithuania!

Review 113:Our stay was cut short due to a family emergency. The hotel staff could not have been more understanding and helpful. The location was first class and idea for a relaxing holiday.

Review 114:Lack of hot water 2 eveings in a row!

Review 115:The location is superb. The staff are fantastic and cant do enough for you.

Review 116:The views -stunning. The staff - v v helpful and friendly

Review 117:Great service, flexible in any of our wishes. Very relaxing and pleasant stay.

Review 118:The pool and beach location were excellent

Review 119:Lots of Mosquitos. Beds hard

Review 120:Great view...lovely shallow bay Staff lovely Nice pool but water v cold

Review 121:The efficcient staff & superb food

Review 122:The city is pretty dead

Review 123:Good restaurant, especially the breakfast buffet. Very nice and helpful staff

Review 124:Location, staff, beach, everything

Review 125:Weak Wi-Fi, lack of simpler food options like Cakes or sandwiches at non meal times

Review 126:The setting

Review 127:Small room/faulty coat hangers/small shower

Review 128:Food/pool/staff/location
