Reviews for Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney Central
Review 1:communication from our booking agent we were assured we would be on a bed and breakfast basis and paid accordingly.this had not been confirmed with the hotel even though we had proof of our booking. We contacted the booking agent to no avail we wont use them again
Review 2:On arrival the desk supervisor was very helpful,he did his best for us.
Review 3:It was good but a bit dirty. The wifi was good and fast but we needed to pay. It was too expenxeive.
Review 4:It was very comfortable and nice. The bed was really soft. And, they did early check 8n for us.
Review 5:The bathroom was mouldy in areas so it didn't feel clean.
Review 6:The location was the best feature of this hotel. The room was adequate for a one night stay.
Review 7:No Free Wifi. Charges were excessive. After paying for wifi, the wifi is sloooowww. Shower head had no pressure. No complimentary slippers. 1 of the 2 key cards didn't work. Also saw other people in the lift use the key cards not working as well.
Review 8:The location was handy. Our room was fairly quiet from the hustle of the city.
Review 9:No bar in the hotel, but this seems to be the norm for Sydney.
Review 10:For the price we paid, the location of the hotel was great. We had the breakfast buffet added at a reduced rate when we booked, and this was excellent value for money. The staff were pleasant and helpful and delivered what they promised.
Review 11:Bathroom could do with a little upgrade but is fine as it is
Review 12:Great place to stay we had booked 2 rooms from the 31th till the 7th and had a very pleasant stay, the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and the loction of the hotel is great if you will be doing alot of shopping and traveling since central station is just a few meters away and also most shopping places....
Review 13:Hair dryer didn't work. Bed was like sleeping on a trampoline - whenever my partner moved I was shaken awake. Grout in shower and on bathroom floor was stained and dirty. Room service menu was nice but 100% Asian inspired - no variety. We preferred to eat lunch & dinner at the Great Southern Hotel at 717 George St - great chicken schnitzels/burgers/pasta/pizza for $12 - best value in Sydney! Order at the bar and grab a table in the room behind the bar. We will be staying there next time!
Review 14:We arrived at midday and were able to check in. Very handy location. 10min walk from Central Station. Capitol Theatre across the road. Breakfast available on Level 2 for $18pp - good selection of hot and cold breaky options.
Review 15:Wall is to thin you can hear sometimes next room.
Review 16:Realy Close to eat outside a lot of groceries and shopp around the building. Really close to central station.
Review 17:There could have also been a bit more room in front of the toilet as it was a little awkard. Also it would have been nice to have a power point on both sides of the large bed.
Review 18:Pretty damn good and for new years, we had a pretty good price for it too.
Review 19:Some rooms looking a bit worn, but still comfortable.
Review 20:Quick and easy check-in/check-out, friendly, professional staff in all areas. But most importantly location! location! location! A block from Central station & Belmore Park. Light rail stop at the corner. Capitol Theatre across the road. Plenty of pubs, restaurants, convenience stores and coffee shops within 5 min walk. Plenty of outlets in the room for charging devices.
Review 21:The bathtub in the bathroom appears dirty , I think it may be overdue for replacement. We could hear lots of noises/chatter from outside room, other rooms??
Review 22:Staff were very pleasant and helpful.Location was ideal for our plans
Review 23:Too many things... Toilet is very tight, very hard to use. The access card is not working in the lift. The room has very small beds. Housekeeping came very late in the day.
Review 24:Cheap to stay in a good location.
Review 25:We had twin beds, I had forgotten how short and narrow they are, we are both tall and our feet were hanging off the bottom. Please get king singles!
Review 26:The location is fantastic. So close to Central Station and the Capitol Theatre, made it so convenient for my elderly mother. Staff always fantastic and welcoming. Early check in was so helpful.
Review 27:A mistake was made with our room and it appears that it was double booked. We ended up with a very small room with a view of a brick wall - very disappointing as we were under the impression that a room with a view was guaranteed :(
Review 28:Location, Friendly Staff
Review 29:The selection and quality of the food at breakie was quite average.
Review 30:Location to Capital theater. Room had a bath. Where I live we are on tank water so baths are a luxury.
Review 31:The bathroom ceiling had a bit of mould on it but that is my only complaint.
Review 32:The location was perfect. Very central location making easy walking to Central Railway, Darling Harbour, Paddy's Markets, ChinaTown, Capitol and State Theatres and the old Entertainment Centre. Breakfast was plentiful and the rooftop pool was very clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. It was nice not to have flat old pillows as motels often do.
Review 33:there was no exaust fan in bathroom and shower had no pressure needs updating also need to assist customers how to use swipe card in the lift and the rooms also thank you
Review 34:close to were we needed to go
Review 35:No Parking arrangements offered or map for parking forwarded to locate it, Breakfast was not very good as was a lot time empty. Bed was hard and out-dated bathroom.
Review 36:Staff and location
Review 37:The lift card system doesn't always work, and I didn't know I needed special authorisation to get up to the pool, and when I did get up there, my card wouldn't work on the pool gate.
Review 38:Excellent position, cleaning staff, restaurant buffet, very friendly restaurant good with children, front counter good with directions.
Review 39:The rooms are small but if you're only there for a while, mainly to sleep - it's fine. The bathroom sink is tiny/a bit awkward - but not really a major issue.
Review 40:Clean - good bed - good location - good price
Review 41:None.
Review 42:Huge room, fantastic facilities and perfect location. We have been to Sydney many times and only just stumbled across this hotel. We will now stay at this hotel every time we visit.
Review 43:The a/c in the room was too hot even when set on the lowest setting making sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Also several friends stayed at the same time and all payed less than me for the same type of room. good for them but less so for me.
Review 44:The hotel is conveniently located to Chinatown, central station, world square and just a short walk to most of the city.
Review 45:As I had booked 2 rooms, triple room for 1 adult 2 children, and adouble room , I thought $100 per night extra for the triple wasexcessive.Particularly when the double room had 2 double beds , we couldhave stayed in it and saved $200 for our stay.
Review 46:The location and staff were fabulous .
Review 47:Breakfast. Tables not cleared, no glasses. no cups and sauces. Scrambled eggs looked congealed would not eat them. Obvious staff shortage.
Review 48:Friendly reception
Review 49:Excellent location for an event at Entertainment Centre. Very cheap parking rates nearby. Surrounded by shops and restaurants. Friendly staff on front desk.
Review 50:very poor disabled access and parking was along walk about a block away from the hotel. it was expensive considering these things. very small rooms and poor designed bathrooms.
Review 51:great location staff were friendly
Review 52:Had a chlorine/bleach smell when we first arrived in our room which lingered for a while!
Review 53:Loved the location! This alone makes this stay worthwhile except it was also clean + tidy, quiet and staff were lovely!
Review 54:Noisy. We were on 11th floor and could hear traffic noises throughout the night. Perhaps should double glaze your windows. Also room service menu should include light snacks such as sandwiches.
Review 55:Close to trains and restaurants
Review 56:Toilet didn't flush when arrived and when it was fixed was very noisy. Pulled my sheets back to go to bed and sheets looked like someone had already slept in them as all messed up.
Review 57:Down from Qld to go on a cruise with my sister, Motel was close and convenient to Circular Quay and also Central Station when arriving in town from airport.
Review 58:Pool not heated
Review 59:Great location , close to Qantas Arena & Capitol theatre. Reception pleasant & efficient. Room clean & modern. Comfortable & quiet. Would recommend.
Review 60:The toilet space is designed for midgets The toilet paper is mounted behind the person sitting on the toilet The smallest toilet space I have ever seen View from window was a concrete wall
Review 61:Location was excellent
Review 62:My son and I woke up in the morning and my son was covered in a rash/bites. I myself had bites. The staff were informed and rang me to say the room and been checked and there was no problem with the room. Clearly there was bed bugs or something in the room!
Review 63:position
Review 64:We were trying to get onto the rooftop to see the view but the elevators only went to level 12?
Review 65:The location was amazing, and the junior suite was a great size for 3 people.
Review 66:Location is good and accessible to many tourist/visitor sources of discovery. It is center city and easy walking distance to places of interest like Darling Harbour. Hotel is clean and the service is good.
Review 67:All in all it was fine. Being in an old building, some renovation works are needed, but no problem. Thank you for everything!!!
Review 68:I am a receptionist as well and know what it's all about. Good job, skilled staff, comfortable rooms. Receptionist at check out very kind and professional.
Review 69:Quite small rooms. The curtains are not fitted properly to provide blackout of sunlight when sleeping. The shower has poor pressure and is so far down the wall it is suitable only for oompa loompas. Hard pillows.
Review 70:Very Clean rooms. Convenient location.
Review 71:Reception counter staffs on 16-11-2015 very impolite and non-conscientious when I expressed my reluctance to have my passport xerox-copied. I reckon this issue need to be acknowleged at time of booking, rather than to be ironed out by the hotel manager or more polite and better trained counter staffs.
Review 72:Room , TV didn't work . Booking was wrong . We then paid for two breakfast well that was extremely dissapointing sausages cold most of it was cold . Bacon overlooked and didn't seem fresh very disappointed
Review 73:Hubby said he had booked a queen room and 2 breakfast . Got there and it's small double and single (we are bigger) and this was an anniversary treat . 1 person in single one in double not very romantic ?.
Review 74:Breakfast was poor, over cooked, indigestible, rubbery so much so that I did not attend breakfast on my second day.
Review 75:Convenience,quiet,cleanliness,very helpful staff.
Review 76:I found the room very dim, there needs to be more light for older couples. We had trouble reading in the poor light. The fire alarms went off 2 times when we were sleeping which was annoying. and breakfast was nice but a little expensive.
Review 77:Staff were polite and helpfull.
Review 78:The parking very expensive and too far away was difficult with so many bags walking through shopping malls and streets with them
Review 79:Close to shops and markets . The staff helpful there was a large group of us the staff was happy including the singing cleaner who gave us a song in the elevator lovely singing you made a few guest laugh .
Review 80:The room is not really that value compare to the price. I stay in the room only 2 hours, the blanket is not comfortable, I have to left the hotel after 2 hours and move to another hotel! The service is good, good staffs. However, the room is not that good, it clean but bed and blanket, pillow are too bad as well as the room is too dark!
Review 81:The walls in the hotel are super thin, we could clearly hear the entire conversation of the girls in the room next to us. The bathroom was poorly designed with a wall protruding about 20cm in front of the toilet. I'm not a big person and I still had to sit on It sideways.
Review 82:The location is amazing! The Capitol Theatre is directly across the street and Darling Harbour is a 10 minute walk away.
Review 83:No think at all
Review 84:Honest no thing good at all noise the room not very clean and the cleaners not finish quickly as we left the room at 7 am we back 4 pm they not finished yet
Review 85:The fridge froze my items inside, maybe the cupboard surrounding it was too enclosed, most fridges need a clearance around them or it was turned up too much ,I couldn't alter it otherwise I would have.
Review 86:Location was great, staff friendly and efficient
Review 87:The hotel is extremely convenient for the centre of Sydney with easy access to the Circular Quay, Central Station, shops and restaurants. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Although it was in the city centre and our room faced the street, it was quiet and pleasant.
Review 88:It's very tired, but I guess you get what you pay for, so I'm glad I didn't pay much. You wouldn't want to be a large person trying to use the toilet.
Review 89:Convenient location. I think next time I will pay a bit more to stay in a better facility. The breakfast was ordinary
Review 90:Bed uncomfortable and old, rooms too small, were kept awake from people in the romm next door until 4.40am. Overpriced for outdated rooms!
Review 91:I liked the location!
Review 92:The only thing wad the bathroom. ... mould in the grout. ..could do with am up grade.
Review 93:Great location. .near light rail and shops. Very easy to get around.
Review 94:King size bed was two singles pushed together which began to separate. Very uncomfortable. Curtains didn't fully cover the windows and had moth holes in them
Review 95:Location and size of room
Review 96:Pillows were ordinary and shower temperature kept changing randomly.
Review 97:Cot provided for free. Bathroom ''Soak" products were wonderful. Great location if you want to be close to central station.
Review 98:The bathroom needed a good clean and maintenance. The grout in the bathroom needs special attention. Taps also drip, these matters should be reported by the cleaning staff of inspected by management.
Review 99:The location to the station, and Darling harbour.
Review 100:Bathroom was not very big and was s little aged however still clean.
Review 101:Location was excellent for my stay, close to train station, shops and pubs with great food. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Rooms were very clean.
Review 102:My son and I were very impressed with the high standard of the room and amenities. We were in town to attend CATS, and we found the location of the hotel extremely useful as it was nearly straight across the road from the Capitol Theatre. Unfortunately we were not able to have breakfast the following morning as we had to leave by 5:30am. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and the whole hotel and room were top class. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all of my friends, and will stay there again when I am in town.
Review 103:The bathroom was small and the grout needed cleaning, it is black. The shower in the bath is not a good idea for the elderly, trying to climb in was a hassle. The toilet was too close to the wall which requires you to sit sideways.
Review 104:The staff were so helpful.
Review 105:Great location. Close to Central station, Capitol theatre and China town. Staff very helpful. Room clean and tidy. Very reasonably priced snack/soft drink machine in foyer. 24hr reception. Lovely breakfast.
Review 106:We ask for a queen bed and instead of that we were in 2 single beds putted together... I end waking up btw the to bed because they keep split in up.
Review 107:Close to many shops and restaurants.
Review 108:Nothing really just had a bit of a bother working out the card reader in the lift but lovely staff helped. And TV didn't have ABC 24; that channel was showing Channel 10 so I missed the replay of Insiders.
Review 109:Very well located and super clean and comfy. Although well in the city buzz, it was quiet!
Review 110:Bed was uncomfortable to sleep in... very hard to fall asleep. Bathroom was something out of the 1990's very old style bathroom. Very loud in the main lobby. alot of foreigners going on excuraions and waiting in the main area.
Review 111:Good location close to train station and paddys markets
Review 112:No TV in the bedroom of the suite...one thing I enjoy when travelling alone is watching TV in bed (what else is there to do!)...was a little disappointed .
Review 113:Stayed in the junior suite this time, rather than just a normal room. Lots more spacious and great for a longer stay
Review 114:Actully i have to say the space for the room is not big enough, and the facilities was old. Just hope the manager could make it better.
Review 115:The localtion is good for travling, nearly world square and theater. Can find lot of yum dishes around hotel, such as Starbuck, some Korean food count also very close to bar, good for young people.
Review 116:Breakfast was ordinary Scrambled eggs were dreadful, watery more purée than scrambled Tomato awful Looked inferior product (cheap) Fruit was canned $18 all you can eat but most I couldn't
Review 117:Staff friendly Clean property
Review 118:Double check your booking, we booked 6 months in advance and rechecked the booking by ringing the Hotel to confirm but were charged an extra $150 for 3 days for them to change bedding arrangements, very disappointing as we had budgeted our holiday.
Review 119:Nice location, handy to plenty of attractions. Clean Hotel. Good price.
Review 120:Small bathroom, with accessories located in the wrong places, e.g. shelving above the sink in the way when trying to wash face, access to toilet rolls directly behind the toilet...
Review 121:Centrally located near the Capitol Theater, clean and tidy hotel.
Review 122:A/C was very noisy even on low. Off site parking. I asked for 2 rooms together when booking 2 months ago but was given separate floors.
Review 123:Location was perfect for our needs. Very very clean with nice toiletries. Pool area lovely and clean. Plenty of tea and coffee.
Review 124:The hallway on our level had a lingering smellwhen you got outofthr lift. Probably from the smoking age.
Review 125:The location is nice with good access to explore the city and the facilties were good enough for a short stay.
Review 126:No real fault of the hotel, but we chose this one to be near and use Bus 555 that ran free around the city, to find it had now been cancelled but the staff were far from informed on alternative transport
Review 127:The room was old. Tiles were chipped and dirty in the toilet. Theshower curtains and room curtains were stained and gave a cheap motelfeel to it. I was given the keys at 2pm and when I went up,housekeeping was still cleaning the room. Wifi and parking areexpensive at this hotel. 3 hour wifi costs aud$10. The room had threesingle beds. One by itself and another two pushed together which wasodd considering they should have either separated all three or providedwith one queen and one single.
Review 128:The location was perfect. Just below the hotel there are bars, shops, cafes and restaurants. Next to it is also a mall. Nearby to the centraltrain station as well, about 5 mins by foot.
Review 129:Too small rooms - even for one night we were struggling to find space once we opened our luggage - finding counter space to keep our stuff, manage the meals etc. You cant even wash your face in the washbasin - size is so small - just about manage to wash hands. Cant sit straight on the pot too. Have to sit at an angle. Fixed shower head - difficult to maintain ur blowdry or shower young kids w/o a phone shower.
Review 130:Good location to central station. If you are travelling with 7-8 yr olds(who r not in strollers - but young for a long walk) then this place is surely a long walk from the sightseeing points and circular quay. ( the main centre for all sightseeing travel) Cos you anyway have to make the kids walk whole day while u r sightseeing so this walk to reach the main travel point itself is too much. They r tired by the time you begin your day.
Review 131:I was put in a room withan adjoining door, the man next door was very loud and swore on the phone as well as talking very loud with his visitor. Sleep was impossible it was like he was in the same room.when i complained staff moved me immediatly to a quiet room.
Review 132:I thought thebstaff were wonderful and helped me with no hassle, i really appreciated their help
Review 133:Old tired bathroom that doesn't smell clean and the sink is too small. The water was all over my chest when brushing and washing my face. With the bed, I had terrible pain in my lower back. Also, I was not able to sleep well because I was scratching the whole night maybe the beds are old and need to be replaced. Seriously, they have to renovate this hotel with the amount you pay. I would not bother going back to this one again.
Review 134:Location and discounted parking nearby
Review 135:Had to pay $15/day fir wifi!
Review 136:Location, helpful staff--- we lost our camera and the staff helped us to try and fond it. So far, we haven't found it.
Review 137:Facilities were fairly average. Light in bathroom was faulty and often flickered off. Air conditioner didn't really work properly at all. Elevators a pain to wait for especially if you wanted to go to the rooftop pool.
Review 138:The location. And the price was quite reasonable. Staff at front desk were polite and helpful.
Review 139:Travelled as a couple and got a room with 3 single beds looking at a brick wall from our window 4am wake up from false fire alarm wasn't that great either
Review 140:Close to city and transport clean rooms
Review 141:Could hear TV in room next door (right behind our bed head) and they left it on all night. Fire alarm on 2nd night woke us up at 4:30am. Holes in block out curtains. Charge an extra $50 a night if you want sofa bed made up in the junior suite. Could do with a bit of a facelift.
Review 142:Location, easy walking distance to Darling Harbour and around Sydney city, bed comfortable, helpful staff
