Reviews for Hotel Colonial Granada

Review 1:The air conditioning didn't work and the room was really hot.

Review 2:Staff were great, room was fantastic. Very spacious and comfortable. Location is perfect.

Review 3:No plugs for American outlets

Review 4:Beautiful property. Great room! Friendly helpful staff. Awesome location...walking to everything. Offered everything we needed.

Review 5:I am so glad I selected the Hotel Colonial for my stay in Granada as the staff and owner's prompt action rescued my holiday! Upon arrival from Managua on the microbus I discovered my wallet was missing and could only have been dropped in the bus.William and Senor Etienne's (the hotel owner no less) prompt action of running me in their own vehicle to the bus terminus on the edge of town saved the day where the bus driver was waiting for me with my wallet in hand.I can't thank the stafff enough for this, in fact they were also suprised that I was reunited with my wallet. In regards to the hotel, it's located 10 paces from the central square, the functional rooms seem to face an internal patio with a small pool, bar and restaurant and staff as mentioned are friendly and very helpful. Thank you Hotel Colonial for allowing me to continue to my travels I only wish I had stayed longer than just one day.

Review 6:Air conditioning was out for our room which made sleeping a little uncomfortable

Review 7:Beautiful spacious room with small balcony overlooking road to Central Park Great location friendly staff and very nice breakfast. Lovely refreshing pool with swim up bar

Review 8:The lack of stable wifi in the rooms, and the low level AC in the rooms.

Review 9:The location of the property. It's right in the center of everything Granada!

Review 10:The humidity slowed us down a bit.

Review 11:Friendly people, Dona Elba Cigar Factory, City tour with cart #38 who speaks wonderful English and knows the city well.

Review 12:Wifi in rooms sketchy. Bed was very hard and not too comfortable.

Review 13:Beautiful hotel with great breakfast and lovely pool areas. Very helpful staff.Large rooms with charming bThroom.

Review 14:The wifi was broken the entire time (3 days) Literally. They need to get this figured out.

Review 15:Walkable to the best parts of Granada. Staff is friendly, prompt (and bi-lingual, for those who don't habla espanol) and an all around fun place with a restaurant and bar and 2 pools. For $90 a night this is a fantastic value! Also, if you want a great driver for a hike up Masaya or Mombacha volcanoes ask the front desk for Ronal - he is friendly, hilarious and born and raised in Granada so a great resource for info! Disclaimer he only speaks Spanish so if you need a driver that speaks English let the front desk know.

Review 16:The beds were pretty hard. A pillow top would go a long way there. Also, the restaurant is only open for breakfast and does not have room service.

Review 17:The hotel grounds are beauitiful and lush. There are two pools and a swim up bar. The restaurant serves breakfast only, but the food was great. We had one of the rooms on the top floor overlooking the main pool area. It was beautiful and the tile work in the bathroom/shower was gorgeous!

Review 18:No wifi indoors and only 50% of the time outdoors. Very damp room with no windows or fresh air. So damp that all our clothes were damp after 1 night.

Review 19:Excellent location, great staff, clean, good food, pool area is beautiful

Review 20:Unfortunately the restaurant only serves breakfast and neither pool bar was staffed our entire stay.

Review 21:Very clean and safe, with a friendly staff. There are two pools and the hotel itself is in a superb location.

Review 22:The wi-fi is a joke and go around the corner to the Coffee shop to access a real Wi-Fi spot. No restaurant for diner at the hotel but there are many places to eat throughout the City. The beds were uncomfortable.

Review 23:The location, staff and breakfast at this hotel were great. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the beds were hard and uncomfortable and I prefer hard beds over soft mattresses. Classic old hotel in Granada that is well appointed and very centrally located.

Review 24:Nice Place. Not sure what's up with the blanket because it seemed like it would be ideal for the North Pole. It was the heaviest most insulated blanket which meant I had to sleep with just a sheet. I think they should invest in some different bed coverings. Other than that it was fine:)

Review 25:Comparing to averige prices on Nicaragua hotel Colonial is expensieve. People in Nicaragua are poor, so you have to watchers your stuff.

Review 26:The hotel is in the middel of the old restored center of Granada. Staff is very helpfull. Two little pools make your stay nice. Rooms are big and clean. Good beds. The colonial style fits perfect to the city. From the hotel all restaurants, bars and specially the old Spanish-style houses, churches and other buildings are on walking distance.

Review 27:I got upgraded to a room with jacuzzi :-) The staff was very helpful amd found me a taxi to share with other guests to go back to the airport. Location near the zocalo, quiet.

Review 28:Internet in the room was not very good. Reception explained that rooms don't usually have any Internet available and have to be in the common areas.

Review 29:Great location in Granada. Quiet and peaceful in the hotel with very nice gardens and a very clean and refreshing swimming pool.

Review 30:1. There are two pools, both beautiful, but small if you want to do laps. They were great for cooling off during the mid-day heat, however.

Review 31:1. Beautiful smallish hotel, with very nice architectural remodeling of a classic Spanish colonial design. 2. Staff were outstanding, very friendly and attentive. 3. Room had a big four poster bed, great mattress, a bit on the smallish side (the room) but who needs more room? Ample bathroom, clean, well lighted. 4. Only ate breakfast once, and the desayuno tipico was reasonably priced ($6), especially compared with other places out in Granada.

Review 32:Nothing, except when our three days were up it was time to leave and I would have liked to stay longer.

Review 33:Extremely friendly staff. Everyone we came in contact with said hello and the service was excellent. Julian was the best! He took us on our tours to Masaya volcano, laguna de apoyo, and the isletas. You can book all your tours right at the hotel. The ambiance of the colonial style and the the decor was charming. Everything is well cared for clean and sparkling. This is the perfect place for a visit to Granada!

Review 34:Great location & staff!

Review 35:Great location, the ladies at front desk so helpful, the guy wanted to charge us more for a taxi didn't like that, but overall great stay

Review 36:the location and a nice pool

Review 37:Fantastic location, super easy to get anywhere you want to go. Yet quiet.

Review 38:Breakfast should definitely be included at this price.

Review 39:Pool. Location. Decor. Prompt response to emails before stay.

Review 40:I didn't like not having WIFI upstairs.

Review 41:I enjoyed my stay at the hotel , the staff was friendly, I felt safe and the location was perfect.

Review 42:staff very friendly and helpful has the atmosphere of an old colonial hotel as the name implies

Review 43:Very low water pressure, 24 hour blackout during our stay, wifi down most of the time

Review 44:Lovely building, very friendly staff, nice rooms

Review 45:Restaurant staff

Review 46:The pool area is lovely Location is great Rooms spacious and comfortable

Review 47:This hotel by far exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Review 52:nice pool good location clean everything you could need really.

Review 53:Check out at12 noon. Can't go over without being charged a whole day. They are very strict about this.

Review 54:The staff was very helpful and friendly

Review 55:Pool is beautiful. Room large and very nice. Staff and location excellent. Beds a little hard but we loved the place and stayed extra nights.

Review 56:Nothing. Amazing.

Review 57:Fantastic and welcoming staff, great location and beautiful building. Totally recommend.

Review 58:nada

Review 59:pretty much everything...2 pools with swim up bar...nice staff

Review 60:I liked everything!

Review 61:Staff, tours, hotel facilities

Review 62:Friendly and helpful staff, locked parking at the Bomberos 2 blocks away, location was away from street noise but very close to everything.

Review 63:Staff was great! We got a flat tire on our rental car driving to Laguna de Apoyo and they were happy to take it to the tire shop to get it fixed for us as soon as we got back to the hotel. Cost of the repair was $3, they didn't try to jack up the price or ask us to pay extra for arranging it. Needless to say we left them with a nice tip!

Review 64:This was the first time I stayed at the Hotel. I have stayed in Granada several times in the past, always choosing a different hotel. My favorite is now Hotel Colonial. The staff were extremely friendly and spoke English. The room was immaculate and large. I liked that it faced the pool. I wish breakfast was included in the room price, so it would compete with most other hotels in the city.

Review 65:The rooms were not spectacular, but a good enough value for the money.

Review 66:Thought it had an adorable exterior and a wonderful location. We also took a tour to the volcano/zip lines through the hotel which was excellent.

Review 67:The bed was exceedingly uncomfortable (springs jabbing into your back). We mentioned this to the owner/manager upon checkout and she seemed dismissive; she casually apologized and half-heartedly re-asked how our stay was, wherein I repeated the complaint and she said "thanks for telling us." No form of recompense was offered and to be honest, the bed was so terrible that housekeeping changing the sheets should have noticed the springs. The hostel we spent a night at on our way through Granada earlier in the trip was more comfortable and 1/4 the price.

Review 68:The Hotel and rooms are beautiful and the Staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is central to all the main Granada attractions.

Review 69:Took a supposed 5 hour tour with a guide the hotel recommended- Carlos - not a guide but just a driver and trip lasted less than 4 hours and he gave no information unless prodded and then the info was not accurate we found out later- big disappointment and as cost 80 dollars not a good deal at all

Review 70:Large nice rooms with nice bathroom and beautiful central courtyard with a pool- also a nice pool bar and great pleasant helpful staff- also. Great location near he park and with delicious breakfast although had to pay extra for it

Review 71:Too expensive for not much better amenities offered compared to other places. Bed uncomfortable, door wouldn't lock, pool bar wasn't open, pool in shade so cold water. If it was priced at 50 to 60 I would find it to be good value but at 90 it was sub par. Staff tried to quote more than double the cost for transport to San jorge. Other places we stayed in Nicaragua only asked for a modest cut to arrange transportation.

Review 72:Great location and very nice staff. Great hangouts chairs scattered around hotel.

Review 73:The staff was amazing! We own a 5 Star Hotel in CR and found this staff and managers on par with any we know. It is an excellent hotel and a great value. It is in a great location, adjacent to the twn center sqaure. The building details look to be Antigua Colonial, however it is as solid and secure as they come, with modern infrastructures. So secure and well built, there was a 6.8 earthquake while we were there and in the building. There was not a mark, or crack. Awesome stay, staff, facilities and management. The place to stay in Granada!

Review 74:The ambiance was fantastic. The staff was very attentive to our every need.

Review 75:ac didn't work well... towels were shedding and no wash cloths bar tender had to confiscate glass due to inadiquate supply.

Review 76:small and quaint......... dont go during high seasonone

Review 77:Our room was clean and lovely although I missed windows a little. The windows out to the patio and pool area helped. The pool area was really lovely and relaxing, it was quiet which I really appreciated, and the staff was helpful and welcoming.

Review 78:The colonial style hotel is beautiful with lots of decor. I lovedthe atmosphere with all the plants and colors. The place is cleanand the staff is very attentive. I definitely recommend this place. You get it all and it's in the middle of everything. The bestlocation in Granada.

Review 79:No parking had to use street and pay $3 a nite to have guy watch car butnot really necessary water pressure and no water once but this iscentral america
