Reviews for Senjukaku

Review 1:Everything about this place was wonderful from start to finish. There's a shuttle bus that picks you up from Yudanaka station (we didn't have to call in advance to get this bus, it was just there waiting for us and other hotel guests). It took about ten minutes to get to the hotel, and from there we were greeted by staff and taken to our room. The room was absolutely beautiful, and we were provided with yukatas to wear for the duration of our stay. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, and well-maintained. Although there's no WiFi in the rooms, there's a tea & coffee lounge that overlooks the garden where you can sit and relax with your laptop. The onsen is great too - I didn't personally go to the public one, but hired out both the private ones, both of which were great. The hotel gives you the option of having a traditional Japanese dinner, but if you're not keen for that there is a cafe that serves food like sushi, chicken, chips etc right near the hotel if you walk a little ways up the hill. The Japanese dinner was a great experience, though, and certainly delicious. In the mornings you have the option of Japanese or Western breakfasts, both of which were great. It took about half an hour to walk to Jigokudani Monkey Park from the hotel - an easy walk with beautiful views on the way. Kanbayashi was a wonderful place to stay, and I will definitely be back one day.

Review 2:First of all the staff were very attentive and sweet. We were on our honeymoon and they made us feel very special with small gifts that I will always remember. The food was also amazing and the hotel was so beautiful and peaceful. With the baths, large windows everywhere looking out onto zen garden and waterfalls, and soft classical music everywhere, I have never been so relaxed in my life. Wonderful ryokan experience.

Review 3:The staff was very nice and attentive to what we needed. The food at the restaurant was traditional in a very good way, it was a good experience and a good way to learn more about Japanese food. It was very healthy! The room was also traditional (futon, Shoji) and they also provide each room with Yukata, a Japanese garnment. The private onsen is also a great plus in the hotel. The hotel is only about 30 minutes walk from the snowy monkeys! We went there for Christmas and it was snowing.

Review 4:Not a thing...

Review 5:Such an incredible place! The staff were incredibly charming and nothing was too much to ask. The room was everything we imagined the Japanese style to look like, with stunning views and real comfort. Facilities, food, room and staff made this place a really special experience, we could not recommend it highly enough!! Try the taster course dinner and a private onsen, you won't regret it.

Review 6:Extremely accommodating and caring staff prepared to go out of their way to make stay special. Beautiful location, large rooms, spotless, great onsen and within easy walking distance of monkey park. Japaneses food served at breakfast/dinner was of the highest standard. Also ate out one night staff organised pickup and location in nice local resturant.

Review 7:The only small negative is that breakfast is only served at half 7 or half 8, which is quite early for a holiday! However, breakfast is delicious and once you're up you get to see more of the day so can't really complain.

Review 8:This hotel is amazing! Traditional Japanese style rooms, really lovely staff and great food. Located about a 30min walk to the snow monkey park.

Review 9:The only negative is there isn't WIFI in the rooms, but it works well in the lobby area.

Review 10:We went to Kanbayashi Senjukaku Ryokan due to its close proximity to Snow Monkey Park. However, we would stay there again just for the incredible Kaiseki meals, onsen bathes and beautiful gardens. This place is a gem and the staff is very kind and welcoming.

Review 11:The facility was most accommodating, providing a luxurious experience in an ideal setting. Our room overlooked a garden that created a calm sense of relaxation. I looked forward each morning to wake to the beauty of the garden along with the gurgling brook. The Hot Springs spa added another dimension to the experience. Dining was exquisite with outstanding food.

Review 12:We had two options for breakfast: Japanese and intercontinental and we choose the Japanese option. We didn't like it so much.

Review 13:The hotel is within walking distance from Jigokudani Monkey Park and they offer special offer to the park. Staff are very welcoming and VERY friendly, they make you feel at home. Amazing facility and experience. Japanese style rooms are very spacious and very neat and so clean. Staff care a lot about us, when we asked for dinner they booked our restaurant and drove us there and the restaurant owner drove us back to the hotel and all for free! Overall excellent experience and highly recommended.Great value of money!

Review 14:Substandard automatic coffee machine in the lounge. It might be a model from the 80's.

Review 15:The staff are amazing and the onsen is great. Very much a traditional hotel. Very short walk to the entrance of the snow monkey park. The meals were fabulous.
