Reviews for Castello di Volpaia

Review 1:It was the end of the season and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves! The people we met there were amazing!!! Next time we're in Italy we plan to spend longer there!!

Review 2:The accommodation was not attractive not comfortable. Volpaia is a beautiful historic village to visit but not to stay there. The restaurant was excellent and their staff very friendly

Review 3:Beautiful historic village

Review 4:no airco and it was exceptionally hot

Review 5:Special accomodation- great views and wonderful pool. Apartment nice but no airco and bathroom dated- given it is a medieval village you are staying. Staff speaks fluently english

Review 6:Could use a/c or better screens on the doors and windows. Only one fan was available and with us sleeping in 2 rooms someone ended up uncomfortably warm. Wifi signal was weak but that has happened everyplace we've stayed in Italy. location is a bit remote which was what we needed after touring the cities.

Review 7:Charming village almost like a fairy tale. Beautiful views of olive groves and vineyards. Fantastic wine made on site and near to many others for touring. We only tried one of the 3 restaurants on site and the food was good and reasonably priced. Grocery was about 7km drive for stocking up the kitchen. Practically had our own private pool just steps from the apartment. Great spot to just Cool off, relax, and enjoy the view.

Review 8:From memory there was no Wi-Fi availability but we went to so many places that I think I could be mistaken

Review 9:The whole quiet ambience of the castellina and the medieval architecture. Having a private garden was really great and the La Bottega restaurant was excellent.

Review 10:Reception was confused, due to clerk's having to timeshare between tasting room and office.

Review 11:Charming location, a lovely town. Free parking was convenient, only 30 meters or so from our apartment.

Review 12:It was dark in the apartment and very musty mouldy smelling

Review 13:We liked how authentic it was also it was a beautiful setting ! Close to a beautiful little town only minutes away.

Review 14:Food is good

Review 15:This is a spectacularly beautiful location. An authentic historic village with accommodations in the old structures.

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:The room is well-equipped. Tasty food and wine are just a few steps away. A perfect place to enjoy country life.

Review 18:Castello di Volpaia is definitely a place to stay of a trip to Chianti! The owner (Mrs. Gio) was really nice and we felt fascinated by her wine-making & olive oil-making tour. There is a beautiful place with magnificent scenaries around the wine cellar. I am planning the next trip to Volpaia at harvesting months! (Sep-Oct)

Review 19:Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Food and wine was delicious, extremely good quality and well priced. I treated my father in law to the cooking lesson and it was worth every penny. He came back a very happy man! The wine/olive oil tour was included in the price with wine tasting at the end. I can't recommend this place enough. A most beautiful setting with staff to match. What a great place!

Review 20:The pool was still closed on 12th May despite it being advertised asbeing open in May. The "private" garden was actually open onall sides, so it wasn't as secure as we'd hoped for our 3 yearold boy. Maybe stating the obvious, but Volpaia is in the middle ofnowhere with no shops, no bus connections and a 40-50 Euro taxi ride(only 10 minutes!) so a car is essential.

Review 21:Beautiful location in Volpaia (hill top village close to Radda inChianti): the views, the peace, the lovely walks available and two greatrestaurants on the doorstep (Bar Ucci and La Bottega). The apartmentitself was nicely furnished with lovely views and a nice garden.Incidentally, our sofa bed was new with a nice thick matress - noproblems there.

Review 22:Kitchenette could use a redesign. It's off the beaten track so a car was necessary to gettto Radda, Greve and beyond. Still the village has a bar and trattoria.

Review 23:Is part of Castello di Volpaia winery and selected it because I knew their wines. Apartment was very comfortable and the surroundings spectacular. A winery tour and tasting were included in the rental. Internet connection was great!

Review 24:Unsurpassed beauty abounds at Castello di Volpaia. The village magically transports one to another time yet with all of today's modern conveniences. Volpaia compels one to decompress, relax and take in the finer things a simpler life affords. Accommodations are exquisite and charming. LaBottega and Bar Ucci restaurants within the village serve the BEST cuisine and wine this region is famous for. Even if you do not stay, make a point to at least drive up, tour vineyard and dine. We notice many locals did just that on the weekend.

Review 25:Accommodations for family were poor (sofa couch - ancient and in very bad condition - children had to remove very thin mattress and sleep on floor). The sofa couch was broken and even if it had not been broken it was horrible! Because of Easter week staff was on vacation and no one around to help. This was not described to us when we booked.

Review 26:The seclusion and quiet of the countryside.

Review 27:No services nearby - nearest food shop is 8km. Staff very hard to find -impossible in the evening !

Review 28:Lovely location
