Reviews for Kiwi International Hotel

Review 1:Friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is in a great location, with an airport shuttle bus that stops right outside! Reasonably priced bar & restaurant on site. Clean & comfy rooms!

Review 2:Maybe this is what you get for the price in Auckland but to us it felt overpriced. Over $100 for a very small room with very basic facilities. Staff were friendly and the location is good though. Short walk to the town centre.

Review 3:Only minor things.....broken soap holder in shower, broken shelf in fridge. The elevator clunks......

Review 4:Comfortable, good position. Has a great deal with a local taxi service for discounted trips to the airport.

Review 5:The room was too small for 4 people. In fact, I had ticked that I needed a room for 4 persons, but they provided us a 3-person room. If in the beginning it was told that the room was too small for 4 persons I would have asked a bigger room even though I would have paid it more.

Review 6:It's close to City Center

Review 7:Fairly small room but quite functional. The hotel has limied car parking and some spaces are only for very small cars so if yours is not so small there may not be space for you even if the staff think there is still space.

Review 8:Location is great.

Review 9:The walls are paper thin. Could hear people in other rooms. Was woken up all night as I was next to a very squeaky fire door and kept thinking people were coming into my room as it was so noisey!

Review 10:Staff nice and friendly, good location

Review 11:My only complaint - we had a very early flight and the lights in the car park are very bright, it made it difficult to sleep even with the heavy curtains as we were on the ground floor.

Review 12:The comfortable beds and lovely, modern bathroom

Review 13:Staff was friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and spacious with a view of the Sky Tower, which was perfect to see the fireworks on New Years Eve. If you want to stay in central Auckland directly on Queen Street, this is perfect if you are on a budget.

Review 14:We did not enjoy any part of our stay !! There was a poo in the men's shower and the whole facility smelt of weed

Review 15:Nothing, the whole facility was disgusting and smelt of weed!

Review 16:Hotel charging for auckland calls . It's a littlebut other hotels do not charge.

Review 17:Staff were friendly & very helpful specially the info desk staff. I will come back again due to this reason.

Review 18:Noisy because it was warm and had to have the windows open because there was no aircon. No attached bathrooms. For just a little more you could have a real hotel room elsewhere.

Review 19:The location was pretty good for downtown.

Review 20:The lift was old and a bit scary. We also needed a couple of things (including fixing our TV and returning our washing from dryer room) at night but were told need to wait till morning even desk was still staffed.

Review 21:Free parking, generous Internet allowance . complementary breakfast . our room was facing the sky tower and the view was great.

Review 22:No air con - not unusual for cheap hotels though and our window did open so no biggy :)

Review 23:Nice sized rooms with essentials. very comfy bed, clean, lots if towels.

Review 24:The hotel lacks the S in their advertising as it is a HOSTEL or certainly the part we stayed in was ,it was very run down and noisy with no sound proofing in a very old 'school' type building floor in the bathroom was very slippy when wet and there was not even basic amenities in the room we stayed in ie bedside lamp or TV which for the money I paid I would have expected . Thank goodness it was only for 2 very long nights

Review 25:the door to leave

Review 26:The car park was a little tight other than that the stay was awesome.

Review 27:I really liked the location and was very easy to access the venue we needed to go to .

Review 28:Room could use some soundproofing - could hear other guests and hotel staff in the hallway and vehicle noise from the laneway below.

Review 29:The hotel was close to cafes, restaurants and shopping on Queen St and on K Road, and was close to public transport. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, and wifi reliable. Staff were friendly.

Review 30:Bed a bit hard. Only one pillow provided. Curtains did not block out light - too short.

Review 31:Convenient location to city centre and port, and easy to catch city circular bus to centre which stopped almost outside. Restaurant good value meals and nightly specials Staff pleasant. Tour booking lady very helpful and gave good advice. Ensuite and complimentary toiletries. Tea/coffee making facilities

Review 32:Not enough staff to help with breakfast duties. Poor guy was flat out serving, receiving orders from customers and cleaning tables.

Review 33:Friendly staff, clean facilities, accomodation was adequate for our needs

Review 34:Showers didn't run hot when I wanted one during the night. Had to wait till the morning. Tele, didn't have all the freeview plus 1channels

Review 35:Good value for money though.

Review 36:The staff were rude, the lift is terrifying, the facilities were disgusting. In the twin room there were 2 electrical sockets on one side of the room which was very inconvenient and the other side of the room had the 2 reading lights? Very strange layout.

Review 37:I didn't have a bad experience, the room was small and basic and was fine for a night's sleep before catching an early flight the next morning.

Review 38:Excellent location, easy walking distance for exploring the Auckland CBD and the 24hr bus to the Auckland Airport stopped just across the street.

Review 39:It was the first hotel in our three week holiday, where i did not feel welcome! Our room was really small and the equipment old and absolutly insufficient. only one electronic outlet, which was used for the Television. So your choice, watching TV or charging your mobil. No soap or Shampoo.

Review 40:The location is exzellent!

Review 41:Very uncomfortable bed which was made worse by a really stuffy room with no airconditioning, summer would be hell. Wouldn't have stayed another night - however you get what you pay for.

Review 42:Close to Aotea Square, friendly staff.

Review 43:Would have liked bar/coffee shop to be open all afternoon; 5:30 pm is too late for teas/coffees and light snacks

Review 44:Very helpful staff; excellent location; nice quiet room

Review 45:The staff were friendly and helpful. The comfortable bed was appreciated after a sleepless night flight from western Australia! Very convenient location.

Review 46:We could hear the conversations of our neighbours very clearly, as well as the music they were playing.

Review 47:There was nothing they did exceptionally well, but they got most of the basics right - the beds were decent, the shower worked, and everything was clean.

Review 48:Very simple place. Scary sounding lift. Smallish room, but OK.

Review 49:Very basic. Generally OK. Quick connection to airport via Skybus stops nearby. Also walking distance to city -- just a bit uphill walk back.

Review 50:Nothing like the photos was actually disgusting the room smelt the TV was tiny and barely worked the bed was covered in stains the shower went from boiling hot to freezing cold constantly would not recommend

Review 51:Location was great easy to get to places

Review 52:No air conditioner and wi fi non existent in my room. Three beds crammed into a small room do NOT a family room make. Supposedly 4 people could bunk down here but it would be pretty awful. The bathroom is tiny, with only one hook for damp towels. There is almost no room for luggage and one of the curtains is way too short for the window so good luck sleeping at night with the amount of light that enters the room. Also, the tv reception is awful and I could only get about 3 channels.

Review 53:The staff were lovely

Review 54:Friendly staff and guests. A clean basic, value-for-money hotel in a great location. Nice breakfasts (I didn't eat there in the evening but menu looked good).

Review 55:Not their fault but just the final few metres walk uphill when you come from bottom of Queen Street but really it is just good exercise and if you are really lazy you can just take the bus.

Review 56:I stay here whenever I have an overnight stay in Akld because it is so handy to shopping, food, and the bus stop is directly outside if you need to go further and they have parking available if you have your car. Just the basics but always clean and tidy and good quiet rooms available too.

Review 57:I was not to impressed that two people from our group were blamed for letting off a fire extinguisher and I copped the cost when in fact they didn't check the surveillance to show it was other guests, I was charged with no chance for me to explain or fight my case.

Review 58:I loved that it was convinient and perfect for what we needed the hotel for.

Review 59:The restraint not great we ordered tapAs half of the order we couldn't have as they had none then when I questioned the price I was given a story

Review 60:Priced right

Review 61:-the hotel is situated right on Queen Street, Auckland's main street and it is just a short, 5-10 minute walk to all the tourist sites -the airport express bus stops right outside the hotel and makes the hotel very easy to find

Review 62:The front office staff are fabulous, very accommodating and extremely helpful, a pleasure to deal with - I'll be back - thank you for a wonderful stay!.

Review 63:the hotel was well placed on the main avenue, yet away from the bustle of the city. It was excellent value for money and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 64:The room was very hot. The wifi is not unlimited. (200 mb)

Review 65:The personal was very kind and helpful. Possibility to put the luggage in the luggage room if we come too early. The hotel was quiet.

Review 66:You can clear hear noises from the corridor and next door. The single room is too small for a comfortable stay. There is no couch to relax, no coffee table, and the desk becomes too crowded with my laptop, water jug and coffee cups on it...

Review 67:The room is quite tidy.

Review 68:Room was small with only one pillow (single bed)

Review 69:Great value for money Friendly staff Free luggage storage after check out Room was clean Comfy bed Quiet- no noise from other rooms or the street. Good location

Review 70:Think the rooms could do with a spruce up. Could'nt fit the jug under the tap to fill it up.

Review 71:Reception staff were very friendly and very helpful. Was'nt flash but got what we paid for.

Review 72:If I have one comment, it would be the size of the coffee at breakfast in the bar area, needs to be a larger option please.

Review 73:Enjoyed the stay very much.

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:Close to buses to Britomart and Skybus from airport. Very clean and tidy. Staff very helpful as many customers were attending a concert at Mt Smart Stadium and had no clue how to get there. Staff had put helpful information on notice boards.

Review 76:Pulled back my duvet and there was a lipstick stain on it, and a hair ball right in the middle of the bed. CLEARLY the bed was not clean/ made. Didn't have time in the day to even complain, but was really disgusted.Looking back I wish I had asked for a refund.

Review 77:Best location we found by far.

Review 78:Parking... We were lucky we showed up early other wise we would have missed out on a car park.

Review 79:The staff were very helpful and kind, rooms were nice and comfortable we also had the most amazing view of the sky tower as well which was a bonus for us..lol We would definitely come stay again! It's an A+ from us!

Review 80:There was no TV in my room which I hadn't realised would be the case

Review 81:Locality Drop off point for Skybus and departure of bus just across the road. The breakfasts and evening meal Friendly, helpful staff Free Wifi Had a reasonalble view of Queens St

Review 82:The room was ok, not very clean little hairs all over the bathroom. Very tired rooms, in serious need of modernising and updating. DOES NOT look like the photos posted online at all. It feels like a poor standard hostel. Would not recommend and would not stay here again.

Review 83:Location was good for what we needed.

Review 84:We felt we got what we paid for , so aren't complaining

Review 85:It was very basic but good and clean and fair value for a realitively central city location

Review 86:The furnishings are tired. I couldnt really describe the decor for example the thick rich colours in the foyer with leather and persian rug. When you go into the hallway and rooms it is a typical backpackers look. Still the showers and toilets were clean.

Review 87:The service was great and the food was exceptional. The people were very friendly and helpful. Literally in the centre of town and I had a carpark and wifi. Awesome as these were all the things I needed and the price was $65 NZ for the night.

Review 88:Wifi was a bit sketchy but great that you get free wifi! Room was a bit uninspiring but not bad for price

Review 89:Great staff! Super friendly and helpful! Clean and comfortable

Review 90:Didn't like having to put the case or the bag on the bed when wanting something. Would like to see a couple of hooks behind the bathroom door for dressing gown.Tea station...lack of power point. And would like extra pillows.

Review 91:Cost & Location and being able to park.

Review 92:Rooms are dated but clean. Common areas dirty but if just want cheap bed for the night all good

Review 93:Excellent location friendly staff backpacker environment. For $16 can catch a bus from airport to outside hotel. Great!

Review 94:I was able to check in a little early which was greeat news afyer arriving on flight at 6:000 am! Very clean. FairlY quiet considering how many people were staying there Convenient and frienfly

Review 95:Too hard to carry heavy luggages via high stairs when in/out lobby door

Review 96:Location. Cleanliness. Helpful staff, especially the woman in the Tour & Information desk

Review 97:Very basic for the money. The lift is very dodgy and could use a service and some new carpet.

Review 98:Location was brilliant - just a 5 minute walk to our conference venue.

Review 99:Thin walls, everything happening in the corridor and other rooms is heard. It was very cold in our room. I have to wait for warm water in the shower for several minutes.

Review 100:Good quiet place near the park.

Review 101:For a young family, no microwave easily accessible, asked for a Baby Cot in our room, didn't get one had to make a bed out of blankets on the floor, air vents started leaking onto our daughters bed, took a day to get that sorted, another day to get a Cot sorted. We hired a rental car, parked in the car park got our parking voucher to say we can park there. Come home from a day trip, car park full you have to park across the road and pay for parking. Really!! Bar closed at 8.30pm, most nights even earlier.

Review 102:The staff were friendly, but that's about all it had going for it

Review 103:Bad internet, extremely noisy, shower impossible to regulate to an acceptable temperature, toilet with problems flushing (24h wasting water) impossible to darken the room for daytime sleepers, not really friendly staff

Review 104:It was a good location

Review 105:The attendant (sorry, I forgot your name) on duty was very warm and welcoming. He went far and beyond his call of duty by getting us an extra mattress for our comfort...and more importantly the apartment was .exactly as advertised..Will definitely call again

Review 106:The breakfast put on by the hotel was a great idea, but it was terribly organised by staff.

Review 107:The location, facilities, comfort and general value for money.

Review 108:The bed was reasonable. Not particularly comfy but not unpleasant. It was to be expected for what I was paying. The curtains weren't very pleasant to look at, they were discoloured in certain places.

Review 109:Having a sink in my room, and a light by the bed was very handy. It was clean, no faults there.

Review 110:Terrible parking! But hey, it is the city.

Review 111:Great location. Wasn't too keen on the bathroom at first but warmed up to it after having a nice bath. Parks nearby are beautiful.

Review 112:The location was great. Right in the heart of the Auckland CBD.Plenty of options for dining out. Art Gallery, movie theatres close by.Transport centres within walking distance

Review 113:night staff not helpful. rm sm. bath rm/shower very sm...nothing like the photos on line..very deceiving. bed was very hard..asked for a blanket. to try & soften mattress.,given 2 x sm throw overs..mmm, need to have mattress toppers(thick). sorry.but not worth the money $220 for 2 nights. would not stay again.

Review 114:having the restaurant in house. deco was ok

Review 115:The lifts were horrified. And it was rather inconvenient for being allocated a room on level 3 as we had to use two different lifts to get there.

Review 116:The location was very convenient. We booked it because the airport bus stop was just across the road. But be prepared that you will need to walk up the street a bit to cross the road.

Review 117:Never got the chance to stay here as my flight was delayed. Staff was trying to reschedule which was very considerate. When you use the airport shuttle bus, get off at Kiwi International Hotel stop.

Review 118:noisy lift, noisy road users,,, stupid heater has no valve control n its on all night n day,,, very hot,,, when asked to fix it,, they turned a whole thing off,,, idiot,,,never go bak there

Review 119:good location, clean, nice staff

Review 120:It was also close to the rough side of Auckland. They didn't take noise issues seriously, and the staff were uncommitted to keeping the place quiet. So many noisy people, and the walls and doors really carried it.

Review 121:It was close to the center of Auckland.

Review 122:Disappointed that there was no Sky and tv reception very poor in one of the rooms we booked. Also soundproofing was nonexistent.

Review 123:The location was faultless

Review 124:Pictures look more enticing than the real thing. Parking space after 8pm is a problem and please do something about the elevator.

Review 125:It was really close to everything, living in Queen St was great. Affordable price and value for money.

Review 126:stained bedding, the fact that we paid for a room with a bathroom and shower and got neither of them, bed was broken, looked nothing like it did in the images, false advertising!!!!

Review 127:Thin walls, could hear noise from hallway, quite loud in the early morning hours

Review 128:Location...just off Queen ST,airport bus stop right outside.Veiw over Myers park was quite nice

Review 129:The hall ways were a little noisy outside our room.

Review 130:the receptionist, he was most welcoming and helpful. The location was terrific. Great value for money.

Review 131:The room was hot - could not cool it down without opening a window - and them the outside noise was too loud...so ear plugs are needed if you don't like the heat.

Review 132:It was a good location - friendly helpful staff, good for airport transfers, pretty good value for money.

Review 133:9am Sunday morning hearing a manager? Employee? telling off a guest? for all surrounding rooms to hear. Then hearing him saying he is 'good at his job' from my 9 year old while in the restaurant. Bad skills.

Review 134:Upon check in, staff helping me with an issue that was my own muck up.... Shared facilities very well cleaned, in morning only though. And hooking me up with carpark!!

Review 135:The pillows in the room sucked. Everything else great so this was disappointing as an easy fix!

Review 136:Location. The friendly staff member who let us play a quiet game of pool after bar closed.
