Reviews for Hotel Dario
Review 1:We had booked a room with two queen beds and were given a room with one. We had to pay extra to get a bigger room. Was it booking .com or the hotels fault? Either way we paid the price!
Review 2:Location
Review 3:The only thing I didn't like is that I I did not stay there longer.
Review 4:Absolutely beautiful hotel with professional and friendly staff centrally located in Granada. Our room even had the perfect view of Mombacho Volcano. 4 of us stayed here for $128. Great value!
Review 5:We stayed twice in this hotel during our roundtrip in Nicaragua - the first time we had a room on the second floor facing the pool and have been very satisfied. The second time however we had a room on the ground floor facing the main courtyard and it was difficult to sleep due to the noise of the air-condition of the kitchen nearby!
Review 6:Staff a bit offhand (except cleaning staff who were very friendly and polite). Wifi not very reliable in room.
Review 7:Great location. Lovely building. Fantastic people watching and sunsets from balcony of room.
Review 8:Very pretty hotel in the heart of the old town. We stayed with our 1 year old daughter and the staff were exceptionally warm and helpful with her. If you're travelling with children, it's worth asking for a room at the back of the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel!
Review 9:We booked a room with balcony through Booking.com. Very quickly the hotel sent a message that there were no more available. They did have rooms without a balcony that I thought should have been at a reduced price.
Review 10:It is our all around favorite place to stay in Granada. Everything is good:the staff, rooms, amenities, ec.
Review 11:The Hotel Dario is a special hotel with a lot of cache in the middle of old town Granada, in the middle of the "action" close to bars, restaurants and attractions. It has a special touch with traditional flavor, with staff attune to your needs.
Review 12:Pictured Jacuzzi but it is not working, said it was a kids pool now. Pool very small and cold. said it was a balcony room but the balcony is not in your room! Prefered Hotel Granada better.
Review 13:Small swimming pool but nicely placed in the inner garden. Breakfast could be better in variety and better supplied (we had to wait for basics as coffee, or fruits)
Review 14:Great place to stay in the center of Granada.
Review 15:Everything was perfect!
Review 16:We had a room with a balcony (it gets noisy at night, but I could manage with earplugs). The room was large, with a lot of character, nicely decorated and very clean. The whole place is amazing (used to be the mansion of one of the wealthiest families in Granada). The staff is very friendly and the breakfast (served as a buffet) is varied, plentiful and very tasty. I was blown away by how great this place is and the level of service, especially compared to the price we paid. I would go back to Granada only to stay in this hotel for a few days.
Review 17:The location is great if you want night life. If you want to sleep at night you should probably book elsewhere. This is right in the Main Street where all the action is so its noisy til 3am.
Review 18:Very small pool. Fitness room was the smallest and poorest ever and without a/c (unable to workout there).
Review 19:Very beautiful old colonial building and rooms.
Review 20:Calle calzado is full of nightlife and can be quite noisy at times.
Review 21:The staff was professional and courteous. The garden environment was refreshing and asthetic.
Review 22:The offer says free parking but I had to pay $6 each day for private parking next door. I also did not like being bothered by vendors while trying to eat breakfast. The staff did nothing to stop them.
Review 23:The property is beautiful and located close to dining and bars. The staff was amazing and service exceptional! Will stay here again. I enjoyed sitting at the cafe each evening having coffee and dessert, what a special place.
Review 24:I could of sworn the hotel advertised free parking, but there wasn't. However, we easily found street parking on the back street of the hotel. It was perfect because our room faced that street and we were able to view our car from our room and there was 24/7 security, which also kept an eye out on the cars that were parked on that street, which is in front of the backside of the hotel. The wifi was spotty in the room, but worked well outside the room, i.e. in the hall.
Review 25:The service was great and the hotel was lovely. It was right in the center of La Calzada where all the action is, yet our room was on the opposite side of that so we were able to sleep peacefully without hearing noise pouring in from the streets.
Review 26:Quiet noisy because of the bars down the street (they provide earplug if you're bothered)
Review 27:Nice old building in the center of the town! Amaising view, great breakfast
Review 28:The jacuzzi wasn't working while we were there, and re-roofing was happening that kept us out of the pool one day. The street is loud but we had a room in the back so it didn't affect us too much. Wifi didn't work super consistently in our room.
Review 29:Staff was very helpful and friendly. When the AC went out in our room we were moved to another one in just a few minutes. Location was close to everything. Rooms were good.
Review 30:The windows only have dark curtains (nothing sheer), so they need to be closed during the morning as you get ready, or other visitors can see directly into the rooms.
Review 31:Very charming, beautiful colonial building, with a lot of space, air and light. Just lovely.
Review 32:Reception , had already charged 50% of the prices ,before agreed date. Noisy front rooms , and noisy conditioning .Our Friends had to change three times their room before getting quiet and type of the room I had reserved for them.
Review 33:Good Location , Beautiful settings with inside gardens .
Review 34:The only thing that I did not like is the noise during night coming from the street due that our room have balcony with a great view to mombacho volcano on calzada street.
Review 35:Beside the noise every thing else is great
Review 36:Staff were friendly and helpful. List of delivery options for dinner was great so we didn't have to drag our toddler out every night. Breakfast was great - eggs prepared to order, gallo pinto, fruit, toast, coffee/tea, and juice. The pool is small, but well-maintained and very nice.
Review 37:I wouldn't rate all of the rooms equally. Unless you pay for the best ones, you run the risk of feeling disappointed.
Review 38:The top, front balcony rooms are amazing. Staff, breakfast, gardens, ambience, location top notch.
Review 39:My booking was for upstairs bedroom with Veranda and they told me no room was available other than a room downstairs with noise of people going by very often
Review 40:The Friday party
Review 41:I searched for many hotels in Granada, I picked El Dario because it offers a gym and that was one of the amenities i was searching before booking a hotel, unfornutely the gym was out of order the dates I was there. Also, Blanca( FD supervisor) was not friendly at all, every time I had to stopped by the front desk to inquire about anything- I Thought about it twice because she seemed bothered and in a bad mood, she was always looking down(maybe playing with her cellphone) and that made us feel very unwelcome.
Review 42:The location was perfect, clean rooms, free Wifi, A.C, hot water, friendliness of staff(with the exception of a few) Thank you Nora, Carlos and the rest of the staff for making us feel like home, breakfast was excellent too.
Review 43:We stayed in a weekend day and bars outside keep music on until 1am. This time we stayed facing the main street, if you want a quieter room ask for the ones on the other side of the main entrance.
Review 44:Breakfast was a typical Nicaraguan food, plus juices, fruits and excellent coffee. The staff is very attentive, friendly. Second time I stay at this hotel. Location is fantastic.
Review 45:Such a gem in the heart of Grenada, if you're willing to pay a little more than at $85 or so a night this is really good value for the quality and comfort you're getting. We loved our time here nad wished we could have stayed longer!
Review 46:having the leave
Review 47:The staff were courteous, friendly and efficient. We had booked a car in advance of our trip through the hotel to take us to the airport very early in the morning. The arrangements were confirmed immediately by email, confirmed at check in, a wake up call made without asking, bags collected at the door, and even coffee offered for the ride. Well done! It was a great way to end a fantastic week in wonderful Nicaragua.
Review 48:The five huge rooms with balconies overlooking the street are quite spacious and have very high ceilings. The only problem is the noise from the street at night. The front desk will provide free ear plugs if you ask. For most people this solves the problem. Nevertheless, if one is a light sleeper, one should ask (at the time of booking) not to be placed in a front room. The most tranquil rooms are those around the pool garden courtyard.
Review 49:The historic hotel is located on the main street that connects the central plaza with the lake. The building has two central courtyards, one of which has a wonderful pool. On Friday night we saw a wonderful folklore show in the other courtyard. That is also where the free wonderful breakfast is served. Do not miss out trying the home-made granola. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable.
Review 50:We had 4 street-side rooms that couldn't have provided a better ending to our trip. All 10 people agreed that this Hotel Dario was a home run with no details left out, right down to the complimentary earplugs for those with snoring roommates. The entire staff was always nice and helpful. And the breakfast was worthy of high ratings as well.
Review 51:Nothing! Although if we visited again I'd ask for a room on the 1st floor - we were downstairs, next to the security desk and it wasn't as quiet / the view as private or scenic as we'd have liked.
Review 52:The building itself is very impressive - with two inner courtyards with shaded garden areas to sit and relax. The pool, although small, is perfect for a quick dip to refresh after exploring the city. The location couldn't be better - right on the nicest street two minutes away from the central park and cathedral.
Review 53:During the hot season, eating meals in the outdoor courtyard was pretty uncomfortable, but the courtyard was large enough to generate a slight breeze, which helped.
Review 54:Beautiful courtyard, delicious breakfast and reliable WiFi. Room was quite comfortable and great value for the money.
Review 55:It's a beautiful hotel with a big garden inside!! The hotel is on the mainstreet but when you are in the hotel you hear nothing. The room was clean and very spacious.
Review 56:1st class hotel on a fantastic street with lots of restaurants to choose from. We didn't eat at the hotel as the choices of restaurants around the hotel were amazing. The hotel staff were very friendly and speaking English wasn't a problem. The evening security guard was wonderful helping us the change our flat tire in the morning
Review 57:The interior courtyard where breakfast and meals were served was wonderful--lots of flowers, fountain, and cool breezes. The small swimming pool was nice. The location on the busy pedestrian street (Calle La Calzada) with all the restaurants and activities was great, as was the proximity to the city center and Parque Central. However, we had difficulty getting to the hotel by car with that address because it's a pedestrian-only street; should give the address for the entrance on the opposite side of the hotel on Calle La Libertad.
Review 58:...that I had to leave to go home....
Review 59:The location is perfect for visiting Granada. Two garden courtyards with rooms around them create the atmosphere of a genteel life and time. The staff is knowledgeable, always cheerful, competent, and helpful. Beds are so comfortable and the bedrooms, spacious. Modern bathrooms and good air-conditioning are a welcome luxury. The picturesque small pool made possible a relaxing dip each afternoon and was deep enough that the water stays cool.
Review 60:Pricey.
Review 61:Great location!
Review 62:Nothing everything was perfect!
Review 63:Our whole state was amazing!
Review 64:Beautiful hotel in the middle of downtown with great food and amenities. We will definitely be back!

Review 71:Nice hotel. Good location to visit Granada. Friendly staff.
Review 72:Room smelled of humidity and breakfast was soso
Review 73:Location and price
Review 74:Beautiful hotel, central location, all amenities, wonderful staff. We left at 4 AM and they had breakfast prepared for us.
Review 75:The locks on the doors did not work! Our room placement was right next to the back exit. Loud dinner program in the middle courtyard.
Review 76:Nice property
Review 77:The accommodations were centrally located in Granada and were well equipped with the basic travel needs: bed, shower, fridge, air conditioning, etc.
Review 78:Beautiful and charming hotel with great breakfast and great restaurant. Location was great and service was wonderful.
Review 79:Beautiful hotel. Great location and extremely helpful staff!
Review 80:It would be nice to get your own keys and not ask the reception to open the room each time you go there! :)
Review 81:It was in the middle of everything!
Review 82:The hotel and staff were both excellent.
Review 83:The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The location was awesome as well.
Review 84:Balcony facing bars can be noisy but they provide ear plugs if you try to sleep early.
Review 85:Great view
Review 86:Wifi was intermittent around lobby.
Review 87:Size of the room was good. Everything was clean. Dip pool good after a hot day of sightseeing.

Review 92:Beautiful hotel with lovely gardens! The amazing, kind, friendly staff made it even better.
Review 93:having your clothes is a bit expensive
Review 94:A mix of old past and the present, situated where the all the action is, yet quiet.
Review 95:We had to get up early to head to the airport and there was no water for showers...
Review 96:Staff was great! Couldn't ask for more friendly people.
Review 97:in center of town
Review 98:Amazing staff, rooms and location. The breakfast is wonderful!
Review 99:None.
Review 100:This hotel is in the main walking street and close to all the sites.
Review 101:Wifi not so stable Breakfast a bit small
Review 102:Great staff Lovely interior Awesome location
Review 103:The air conditioning was very noisy and either very cold or not cold enough. Hard to regulate
Review 104:Great location. Lovely hotel. Great food . Lovely rooms
Review 105:nothing
Review 106:everything
Review 107:Price
Review 108:Location charm staff
Review 109:Attentive staff well maintained centrally located
Review 110:Right in the centre of the interesting part of town. Great food Lovely pool
Review 111:Close to central park, good restaurant with great staff. Very helpful giving information of things to do around.
Review 112:a list of TV stations would be helpful for visitors. Missing towels and bath mats which were replaced after notice
Review 113:location, room size, arrangements for Managua airport pickup and return
Review 114:Breakfast at weekends was much more limited than in week and coffee poor and tepid. Garden loungers broken and dilapidated. Sheets not changed in five days. No lift and a steep staircase.
Review 115:Charming quiet central. Bedrooms off a first floor balcony overlooking the central courtyard and charming garden. Pigeons cooing all day. Clean bathrooms and plenty of places to sit and chill. Splash pool small but very pretty with waterfall. Very central
Review 116:Air conditioning was very difficult to to operate and extremely noisy. Bed was "hard as a rock" bed covers and beds were not conducive for local climate.
Review 117:Staff was great. The colonial architecture was beautiful as were the covered outdoor area and pool. Great location in the city center and main tourist area. Most of the better restaurants were within walking distance.
Review 118:bed was as hard as a rock, very difficult to sleep on this bed. Air conditioning was very cold and difficult to adjust.
Review 119:excellent location, very nice outside area for dining and casual area. staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Review 120:Coffee at the breakfast was not good.
Review 121:Good Location at the pedestrian area next to the cathedral. Good view to Cathedral and Volcano Mombacho. Rooms were clean and very high (approx 4 m). The colonial style.
Review 122:The airconditioning was noisy and you could not run it at night. The room did have a fan and that helped.
Review 123:The staff was more then great. They all were friendly and helpfull.
Review 124:some people might find the location in the Calle la Calzada, read busiest street of Granada, great, however it did heavily disturb our night rest (if we would have known in advance we probably wouldn't have booked). The rooms were very small, beds uncomfortable and airco very noisy, not what you expect from what Dario claims to be; a 5 star hotel and a 117$ rate/night.
Review 125:The authentic character of the hotel is great and breakfast is very complete. The staff is very helpful and careful.
