Inn Portoss sells fast on our site. Located in the city of Ventspils in Latvia’s Kurzeme district, Portoss is a family run guesthouse that offers rooms with flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. It provides free private parking spaces.
The Portoss is located in a wooden building from 1901. The guesthouse’s simply furnished rooms are done in pastel colours. Each room has a work desk and an electric kettle.
The Ventspils central beach and the Venta River waterfront are both within 2,450 feet. Ventspils castle is 0.7 miles away. The aquapark is 800 feet from the Portoss.
There is a café on the ground floor of the guesthouse. In the morning a breakfast buffet is available here.

Review 1：The owners of the hotel must to do something with ingrained tobacco smell. This is a fundamental flaw of this hotel.
Review 2：A focus on children, excellent location, sincere and helpful hosts, tasty breakfast.
Review 3：Family room on 2nd floor is very dark, only two very small windows on the floor. No aircon or even ventilation - hot hot and stuffy. Unpleasent smell in the room.

Review 6：I can recommend the hotel for travelers with children. Very frendly and pleasing staff, clean and comfort room. Good breakfast, especially pancakes. Tasty and not-expensive local style food in the restaurant. Very good location - nearby there is big park with many attractions for children. 5-7 mins by walk to the beach with another seaside park and 5-7 min by walk to river promenade.

Review 8：It's not that I didn't like, but it would have been nice. There was a kettle in the room. Strangely, there were no tea mugs. Of course I could have asked the staff, so no big deal.
Review 9：Very nice family-friendly hotel. Great breakfast, especially pancakes. My 4 year old son liked the plush toy which was in the room for him to play (another plus for the staff for special attention to children). The cosy enclosed yard is a nice place for kids to play.
Review 10：Room we stayed at clearly needs some renewal - some stains on the walls, curtains with edges cut by scissors were things that made me feel a bit uncosy. Otherwise everything was cleaned properly.

Review 31：The smell in cordidor was like someone is smoking there regularly. In general the furniture in room was a bit "low-cost". so I suppose this hotel will not suit for nice interiors admirers :)

Review 35：Close to beach although it is at least half hour walk from the town but there is a bus service. It is basic and really is a family run B&B house rather than a hotel. However, breakfast was good and bedroom was comfortable with English language TV channel. Owners very pleasant and willing to oblige/help. Probably benefits from location (close to beach).
Review 36：The house simply does not feel cozy, especially as the price is high and you expect more. It is good there was no heavy rain during the stay as it would be difficult to stay at the uncozy room for more than 1-1.5 hours during the daytime. View trough the window is terrible contrary to the Portoss booking.com webpage stating they have a garden. They don't. There was only couple shaby flowers near the entrance, front yard area. The gutter above little entrance door roof was holey and the rain water ran on people entering the house. The second floor floors squeaked. There was missing second bedside table. Lunch food was good, but the food was tasty and have same big portions, and had the same price as at the others place we ate. The sink has some leaking problems. Generally, house owners has to put much more attention to house and its surroundings, or drop the price.

Review 38：Home-made pancakes were excellent. This is very small family run place,with grandma and other family members looking after the guests, it addsa real personal touch. Highly recommended! (Unless you are veryconcerned about having modern and new apartments, then this place mayseem a bit too basic and worn out, which explains those very fewnegative reviews here)

Review 42：A very good location, especially if you are with children-a big children playground nearby, beach is some 10min on foot. City center is also close. The breakfast was good. We also ordered dinner there-portions were hugh, nicely decorated and very tasty.

Breakfast was laid out for me when I wanted it, as I was the only guest at the time of staying. Owners went out of their way to accommodate my early departure (1am) and even made me breakfast. Very safe with the gates closed for the night.
