Reviews for Okushiga Kogen Hotel

Review 1：This hotel seems to have great potential but fails to rise to the standard expected by the price. The building is huge, but it seems only New Wing rooms are being utilised, so it creates a stark empty atmosphere. All meals are buffet style (mix of Japanese and Western dishes) and the food is good, but not outstanding. The lounge area was not useable most days due to the very smoky atmosphere created by the log fire. Wi-fi is only available in lounge area and no English speaking TV channels. We have stayed before at the nearby Grand Phenix Hotel and it is superior in all aspects.

Review 2：The location only a short walk from bus stop and ski lifts is perfect. It is a true ski in-ski out hotel. Rooms are generous sized and very clean. Staff tried their best to be helpful despite very limited English.

Review 3：The room was too small and simple. We would not mind that, but not for such a high price. We booked this hotel for 1 night only, because the other hotel where we stayed afterwards was fully booked for that night, so we could compare.

Review 4：Nice sitting area with a fireplace. Ski rental and ski lockers. Helpful and friendly staff.

Review 5：Whilst quality food it was not possible to get a la carte in the evenings. After skiing and hot chocs and lunch it feels too much to have multi course meals every night even though they were great. They were also pretty costly over a week. Prefer if a la carte also an option like at Hotel Phenix.

Review 6：Ski in ski out. Good food room comfortable and enjoyed public baths.
