Review 1：Mosquitoes. And lack of good shopsand restaurants close by.

Review 2：The hostel has got the basics right. Located close to the airport, extremely clean rooms, great WiFi, good tiffin service, great staff. Oh, it also has a tt table!

Review 3：the bathroom was not good. We only used it ones. It was dirty, wet and with a lot of animals. Also there were a lot of noise from arrival in the night from other guists. The breakfast was simple with no juice, only tee. Lot of musquitos.

Review 5：We had arranged to be picked up from the airport at 2.30am... our pickup never arrived. So after an hour we got a can our selfs. Not good! Then we bairly got a wink of sleep as its right on a very busy road. But nice and clean place with friendly.. if not a little uninformed staff.

Review 6：The room is very simply eqiuped: no table, no chairs, just one small bedside table... We booked room without ensuited bathroom (it was described, we didn´t notice it).

Review 7：Nice old colonial house. Great location close to airport (you can go with taxi, tuk tuk and even with the local bus). Nice garden. For one night after arriving or before leaving good choice.

Review 16：Very high ceilings, marble floor tiles, spacious rooms, and colourful graffitis on the walls. The most important very helpful and polite staff with a very good English! Also location to the airport was brilliant.

Review 17：- despite the fact that the hotel is not far from the airport, location is not very good near noisy highways which is difficult to move. - no shops and cafes next to hotel. - when we arrived room was not ready.

Review 19：Very small room , dirty , no where to put clothes also no curtains on window , under the bed ,Windows ,window seal and Wales very dirty and as you can't close the window its very noisy . It is not worth moor than $12 for a double room . Only one bathroom indoor which is not good in a rainy day . And the had a cheack to rais the rate to $30 from the 3rd of November . They have had some good reviews on a cheap rate and now thy have lost themselves . We would not be going to any of their guest houses in Sri Lanka .

Review 23：Hotel first is a great place to stay if you need to be close to the airport. Very clean and comfortable. Bus stop at the front on the main road. The staff is friendly and helpful. They was agree to leave a suitcase there for two weeks without charges and when a get back i could stay there and have a shower before take my flight. Review 25：Proximity to airport. But then again, really, if you choose to stay at Negombo instead of Colombo you are just wasting time. Nothing in Negombo other than dodgy beaches and over priced dingy bars. Go to Colombo as soon as you land.

Review 36：Overall this place was much better than I had expected - lovely open plan communal areas with a table tennis table inside and a volleyball net in the garden. Lovely simple breakfast, free water, tea and coffee, and they arrange breakfast for us early as we had an early flight. Beds were comfy, rooms clean, and I would not hesitate to recommend.

Review 39：There´s just one toilet for all guests inside, and next one (really not well looking) in the garden, so taking a shower can be a really long story. You can smell H2S (addled eggs) everywhere, whitch is really uncomfortable and may be a bad message for hygiene. The garden no longer looks like on photos, the lakeside wooden construction is pretty destroyed

Review 40：Really close to Colombo Int. Apt., stuff is ready to organize taxi or tuk tuk even in the middle of the night. Really delicious food in surroundings, especially in by the stuff recommended restaurant.

Review 41：Really nothing. Since it is a hostel catering to those who come from the airport at all times of day or night there are some minor disturbances as people come and go. But the guests all try to be accommodating of each other and I met so many different foreigners. Very little not to like about this place.

Review 42：This is a hostel designed by travelers for travelers. Both dormitory and private rooms and value for the money. But what makes this place special is the staff. Rarely have seen such wonderful staff.

Review 43：We stayed literally for an hour early morning to get refreshed before the flight - at the reception it was no problem to use room facilities and we were treated in a kind manner (we could not arrive earlier due to the night train). Room and bathroom was very nice and clean, breakfast provided, perfect location if you need to take the flight.

Review 48：Nice, clean and a quite spacious hostel, located in the building of a private house with a small courtyard. It is decorated with taste and love. The airport is in 10 minutes drive away. We stayed there for the first two days and the last night in Sri Lanka. We were warmly welcomed, fed a delicious breakfast (pancakes with coconut, toast with jam, bananas) and created the conditions for a comfortable staying, but also helped to create the travel route and given a lot of essential tips!

Review 50：Where to start...? A storm caused some water leakage from the roof which damaged our phone. The staff was alarmed by the news but later denied anything happened when we contacted booking.com. The bathroom, although just a year old, was closed. When we wanted to use the one further away, the staff closed the doors so we were almost locked outside. The breakfast was horrific with 4 day old pancakes and rotten fruit. WiFi is there but there was no internet connection. So unless you like bad service, loud Russians, bad food, damaged goods and a staff in denial.. don't go near Hostel First. Greetings, two very disappointed customers. Thanks for nothing.

Review 51：Dorm room is hot! But only has 2 wall fans for 4 beds meaning if the dorm is full and the fans are on rotate you only get the benefit of it for 2 out of every 10 or so seconds and it's not enuf (for me)

Review 53：-nobody speaks English fluently -14yeared old local boys are responsible for everything - cockroaches, spiders - awful smell in the room (probably because there was no window in the room to let in fresh air) - I made a booking in advance and said that I am to arrive at 22:30 but nobody was waiting for me - all members of the staff were sleeping - expensive transfer from the airport and even if you tell the hotel the precise time of your arrival, you will have to wait for 15-30 mins for the car - the door doesn't lock

The staff was very helpful and understanding as we checked in quiet late and checked out really early. Both the times they were at our service with a smile :) This place is very close to Bandaranaike Airport and has a comfortable setting. Would definitely like to visit again if I have to stay overnight somewhere close to the airport.

Review 65：Nothing around - Negombo is 15 mins by tuk tuk, but really ugly place, no need to go there. We had a room with no window outside - only inside the area. I didnt like tha fact, that we were asked to take off our shoes in the shole area - even in the common bathroom/WC - this was really disgusting for me. No mosquito net. Hot inside the room, no fresh air. Quite expensive.

Review 66：Good for oversleep before/after the flight - really close to the airport (15 mins by taxi). This was our firts hostel on Sri Lanka and I did not like it for the first time but after the stay I have to say, that this was really great place in comparism to the others... Bed was ok. Breakfast really basic but nice. Staff tried to keep it clean.

I also got some really useful trips for my further travel and some nice insights in the country The common facilities, the room and bathroom are clean. In the morning I got a tasty local breakfast. Price-value in this location is great, especially if you want a place close to the airport (it+s only a few kilometers). There is an ATM opposite the hostel. The start in my holidays couldn´t have been netter, thank you!

When we were leaving to catch the flight at 4:30am Alex and Manju we awake to make sure our taxi arrived. I can fully recommend the place!

Review 111：I don't know but I just loved this hostel from the first sight. The staff is very nice and dedicated. It is quite a new hostel and the people who worked there are strongly devoted to create heaven for you. The vibe is so high here, if you work with energy, yoga etc. you will know what I mean. And it is impeccably clean, smells so nice. A very small place, just a couple of dorm rooms plus a large hall where you are sure you will integrate with any guest there in this lovely place. It is VERY CLOSE to the airport, maybe 3-4 km, very convenient for transfers. If you are down or tired after or before journey don't hesitate to book even 2 nights. A part of the staff are Russian speaking and if you come from any country from Eastern Europe (I come from Poland) - you will feel one foot at home.
