Reviews for Sovana Hotel & Resort
Review 1:Bathroom needs more shelf space and hooks.
Review 2:Warm welcome on arrival. Friendly, responsive, efficient service. Fantastic panoramic view of surrounding Tuscan countryside from rear of hotel. Exceptional position for terrace and swimming pool
Review 3:Wifi only works in public area. The air-con in our room did not work properly. It only gave us sound and air but it did not cool the air. Sleeping was a bit less comfortable.
Review 4:The hotel has private covered parking. Very nice when weather is hot. It has a rather big and well-maintained garden, and was built on a historic site. It is a very small hotel so it is very private and quiet. Decent-sized room with good bathroom.
Review 5:If you need to be plugged into wifi a lot, plan on staying in the lobby area of the hotel as the connection wasn't great in the rooms themselves (but hopefully you won't be on the internet very much while traveling through this beautiful place.)
Review 6:My husband and I were doing a wine road trip with both of our parents and stayed comfortably one night here. They received my request via booking.com for a gluten free breakfast for my mother in law, though they have gluten free things ready for guests regularly, which I appreciated. The gardens and labyrinth are vast and gorgeous, if we had more time I would love to stay a whole day in them.
Review 7:Located in the delightful village of Sovana, this hotel was perfectly situated. The staff encouraged us to spend a morning at the natural hot springs nearby which a peak experience of our two weeks in Italy. The rooms are simple and clean, the lobby beautiful, and breakfast very good. The grounds and gardens, which are large with Etruscan ruins unearthed couldn't be more beautiful and well-maintained.
Review 8:We asked for a room with a view of the Duomo which we got but overlooked the street which was very noisy as the air-conditioning was totally ineffective so had to leave the balcony doors and windows open as it was hot and humid.
Review 9:Location great, breakfast good, Hotel grounds beautiful.
Review 10:Street constuction outside of hotel (not the fault of hotel & temporary).
Review 11:Helpful young staff, in heart of beautiful Italian Medieval hill town.
Review 12:Grate olive garden and nice staff. Interesting micture of old and modern building. Nice decoratation of public rooms
Review 13:Top location! The manager is extremely kind and available. Breakfast buffet various and very good food quality. Quiteness.
Review 14:everything else
Review 15:property view
Review 16:The beautiful grounds. Common areas to sit and relax. Good breakfast. The village and its churches.
Review 17:noise of a ventilator, simply breakfast
Review 18:location, house style,
Review 19:Il materasso, troppo duro
Review 20:The location is great.
Review 21:We stayed in mid August. There were no staff to man the restaurant and so we had to go out to eat in the evening. Not too much of a problem as there are restaurants within walking distance in the village but for this type of hotel we would have expected a proper restaurant. Clearly the hotel owns two other facilities within the village as they all had the same menu! Breakfast for this standard of hotel was also disappointing: no pastries or croissants and no hot dishes
Review 22:The gorgeous grounds with the most beautiful swimming pool which was our main reason for booking the hotel plus it's location. We also like the fact that this hotel is remote but that might not suit everyone. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wasn't fit or able to walk easily
Review 23:I can only really have one criticism and its the thick Tufa walls which restricted the free wifi to the common areas of the hotel.
Review 24:Beautiful renaissance style roman swimming pool, maze and expansive gardens, private and secure gated parking, larger than average standard rooms, free in-room safe, friendly and sociable staff, rain forest 2 person shower, superb choice of fresh breakfast pastries, cakes, eggs, meats, hot drinks, 10% off at hotel owned restaurant, 12pm checkout...
Review 25:Room design not quite up to standards of rest of hotel. Bathroom small and dark. Breakfast so-so.
Review 26:Beautiful garden and pool. Stylish interior to hotel. Lovely town.
Review 27:Unlike advertized, wifi signal was only available in the lounge areadownstairs and not in the room. This happens often with booking.comdescriptions, but it still annoys me. The room description alsomentioned the fact that there were views of the garden or the duomo. AllI could see was a hedge, but I don't thinkmthat qualifies as"garden".
Review 28:The hotel has a huge garden with views of Sovana's Duomo, as well ascozy and spatious common areas
Review 29:The room and bath were small, but that is pretty much standard in Italian hotels.
Review 30:The Sovana was a good location for seeing the Etruscan ruins. The interior was beautiful, the breakfast was great, and they recommended a wonderful restaurant for dinner.
Review 31:Unique building made from tufo stone and very, very clean. In beautifulcountryside of Italy - quiet.
