Reviews for La Casa Degli Archi

Review 1:The bathroom does have a slight smell (of chlorine, I guess). However this has been my experience with nearly every hotel that has a jaccuzzi, so far. If you are elderly or have trouble walking, note that the nearest parking is about 600m+ walk from the property, and even driving to the place to disembark might not be possible - Pitigliano has super-tiny one-way streets and may even get closed during weekends and holidays. Be sure to call the property and arrange this somehow, if it is important.

Review 2:What you book here is actually a room (+ a bathroom, perhaps with a jacuzzi) in a large apartment. The apartment contains two such "bookable" rooms and a set of common spaces (a kitchen, a hall with a sofa and a hall with a TV and a fireplace, a small balcony). The apartment is simply amazing and is one of the best places I've stayed at so far. The views of the valley from the windows in the common rooms are breathtaking. The interior design is done with impeccable taste and attention to detail. Even the choice of books on the shelf near the fireplace is amazing. Of course, the fact that half of the apartment is literally cut out of the tufa rock adds a bit to the awe. The lady managing the property is very friendly. And Pitigliano itself is, of course, a marvel to visit. Note, though that it is tiny and explorable in full (including the museums) within three-four hours or so. You might only want to stay for the night if you look for romantic dinners or longer hikes in the surrounding countryside. Note that if you book the room in low season (or book both rooms) you have a chance to get the whole apartment to yourself!

Review 3:The bathroom was a bit too humid so it had some smell like the drained pipe. Better has a window there. The suite was beautiful with great view except that we had to share with another couple so it was more like a bed and breakfast with no privacy. The room we stayed in only had a small window..the living room has perfect view but then we were not alone there. The price was a bit expensive for a share unit. Great for a family so they could share the whole place together!

Review 4:The view

Review 5:It was very hot when we arrived and the hostess gave us a free upgrade to a cooler room. She was very friendly and made sure we felt comfortable and gave us everything we needed. She even gave us a lift through the old city centre in her Italian car. The casa is in the middle of the centro storico which is ideal to get lost in the narrow alleys.

Review 6:We were confused because the pictures of the location showed it being outside the city on a hill with small pools but we stayed right in the middle of Pitigliano...It was inconvenient because we had to park several blocks away from the rooms and empty our car completely.

Review 7:It was a pleasant town to stay in and the views from the rooms were spectacular. The breakfasts were very good.

Review 8:Pitigliano is such a great little town. For some reason everyone seems to talk about the Sorano and Sovana.. for is Pitigliano was on of the special highlights of our honeymoon trip. Its got way character than the above, with so many little back streets and side streets. Yes it is quiet and not much going on, accept for a few shops and a few lovely restaurants in the evening..... but it ha real character and the people living there are really friendly, especially the old folk sitring outside their doors in the old section. Casa degli archi is right at the end of the rock formation where pitigliano is perched. Its been carved into the rock and you enter through a wooden door and into a fantastic living space, made of bare rock, stone arches and plaster. Windows are punched out of the rock with perfect views in all direction. We stayed in the larger room which was accessed by its own private tunnel. We loved it. Highly recommended. Federica manages the house and is a wonderful host, she runs a travel agent too so if you need anything she can help.

Review 9:Pitigliano is itself a real gem in Toscana. The medieval house is on the edge of the town, partly built, partly carved in the tufa. We were already there last November and it was the same breathtaking place for the second time, too. Nice sunset from the small balcony, good selection of the interior decoration, well equipped kitchen (with Nespesso machine). Good climate, this time was very hot outside (35-37 C), the temperature in the bedroom was below 24 C without air conditioning.

Review 10:Don't follow GPS to get there. It is just at the entrence of the town not far away. The hospitality and warm lady will serve you the breakfast in a basket which is very interesting. The best thing is this place has a fantastic view of the whole town. You can have a star sky at night and watch the sunset everyday.

Review 11:We were delighted with the property, it was so unique. It was very comfortable and clean, breakfast was lovely and Federica was so helpful and friendly. A shame we were only staying for one night. Will definitely return.

Review 12:This hotel is really something special, modern facilities, great charm and historic. The staff is incredible helpful and forthcoming, and they know the area and can answer any question you might have.

Review 13:Federica was a great hostess, catering for every detail including our transportation from the public parking to the lodge. Pitigliano is a wonderful place and la Casa a perfect place for two or up to six! Location, location, location.

Review 14:Can't think of anything...

Review 15:Brilliant! Could not believe we had been so fortunate as to end up at La Casa Degli Archi! The great communication leading up to our stay there, being collected from where we parked the hire car and driven to the property, the introduction to La Casa Degli Archi was mind blowing. I have never stayed anywhere so wonderful. The building is amazing and half cut from the rock, it is warm, beautifully decorated and very comfortable and on top of that the lovely hosts brought us fresh, local breakfast every morning. Perfect. The town of Pitigliano perched on the top of a rock is difficult to reach with no train but I can't encourage you enough to try it out! Well worth it!

Review 16:No nearby parking and the Casa is at the farthest point from the entrance to the old city and public parking. But Federica picked up our bags and delivered them to the room! Not a problem for us, but if you don't like to walk... The WiFi doesn't reach into the room. The walls are made of stone, so I guess that's the reason for that.

Review 17:Pitigliano is a beautiful Tuscan hill town, built on a huge outcrop of "tufa" rock. Parts of the Casa are built right into the rock and makes it very unique. The Casa is at the end of the town and the windows/balcony look out on the surrounding countryside. Just two rooms with private bath but shared kitchen and lounge area. It was like staying in a friends home. Federica was extremely helpful, including arranging transportation to Savano from where we walked the Etruscan trail down (and up) to Pitigliano.

Review 18:It was not a problem at all, but wish I had understood in advance the set up better - that there are two bedrooms (far apart) with mutually shared areas, and no one on site as host. Also a slight mixup with our pick up - we waited about 40 minutes before calling again - I don't think the communication within the office was so good.

Review 19:We loved the location, the furnishings and the spaciousness of the accommodation. Beautifully done! Also lovely to look out over the farmland to the hills beyond. Our bedroom with the glorious view was lovely. Kitchen fully set up great as well.

Review 20:Parking.

Review 21:It was a fantastic stay. Beyond comfortable and spacious. Beautiful views. Wonderful medieval Italian hill town.

Review 22:Skeleton in basement was weird

Review 23:Potigliano is worth visiting

Review 24:GPS took us to the end of no where down a very narrow road which was not fun to drive down

Review 25:Great place, very spacious, lovely Jacuzzi bath :)

Review 26:No air conditioning, not enough fans for very warm weather

Review 27:nehéz a parkolás

Review 28:Rendkívül közel fekszik a látnivalókhoz. Extrém hangulatos, a történelmi belvárosra hangolt önálló lakás, kényelmesen felszerelve.

Review 29:Hot water runs out. Plumbing a little odeurous when it rains.

Review 30:There is a dungeon! No kidding!

Review 31:The property has the most incredible views. The decor is extremely stylish and the host was very accommodating.
