Reviews for Hotel Posta

Review 1:Prior to booking we emailed to ask if it was OK to bring our two, well behaved dogs. The hotel does advertise as pet friendly but we wanted to make sure it was OK to bring two, We were advised that it was no problem. On arrival our young dog barked twice, she had just got ot of the car into a new environment. The receptionist stopped booking us in and just said "I hope it wont do that all night we are full" and then told me to take the dog for a walk. My wife did take the younger dog out whilst I continued with the bookng in process and unloaded luggage. She then went to the room. No sooner was she in the room when the same receptionist called to accuse her of allowing our dog to go to the toilet in the street and that she should clean it up. It was only through the intervention of the porter who told the receptionist that it was nothing to do with our dog but in fact there were two dogs roaming off their leads that she let the matter go. We found her manner offensive and far from pet friendly. We won't be using this hotel again for these reasons but wouldn't discourage anyone else from using it, just don't take a pet!

Review 2:Hotel Posta is in a lovely location but a little hard to find by car. The building is beautiful and very well maintained. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was wey well equipped and clean. We had no view but we booked with two dogs so we never expect the best rooms. Breakfast was pleasant and there was a good choice

Review 3:The only downside was that the room was noisy, when people walked by or talked on the street, it sounded like they were in my bathroom.

Review 4:Great location. Nice room with a view over the Piazza Camillo Prampolini. Very nice hotel.

Review 5:It would have been nice to have tea/coffee in room

Review 6:Extremely helpful staff Interesting building (500 years old) Owner on site gave an informed tour lovely room

Review 7:The room was far too hot, I would guess about 26 degrees celcius. I could not sleep at all and was left run down for my business trip. The beds were hard as a rock and likely as old as the 500 year old building.

Review 8:the location and cleanliness, as well as the space in my room

Review 9:Everything. It was central, so we could leave our car in the excellent parking facility and visit a restaurant recommended by the very friendly staff. Best breakfast as yet experienced in many trips to Italy. Would definitely use it again.

Review 10:Arriving by car is not a bundle of fun - even with signposts to the hotel. However it employs a car-parker who picked up the vehicle five minutes' walk away and parked it in the very limited hotel car park We were grateful! The establishment is a large central one with numerous staff and a good range of rooms. We were pointed towards a good restaurant in town, less than ten minutes away whilst shops and interesting buildings were close. Breakfast in a spacious room OK but no better; room air-conditioning effective and good bathroom.

Review 11:The double room was lovely however the air conditioning unit didn't function properly. The room was warm and moist. When mentioned we were moved to a twin room. The difference was bliss.

Review 12:The rooms have high ceilings and are beautifully tiled. The bathrooms are immaculately clean.

Review 13:Tricky to find by car, but really worth it.

Review 14:Amazing historical palazzo right in the town centre. Luxurious room, great bathroom, lovely breakfast with plenty of parmesan cheese! Helpful staff, especially the man in charge of the car park. Brilliant value for money.

Review 15:Staff were very helpful, making dinner reservations, and helping out with prearranged transfer confirmations etc... Room was spacious with large washroom.

Review 16:Friendly & helpful staff. Spoke English well. Greeted me by name when handing me key. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Quick to respond when locked myself out of room. Helped with bags. This is a great Italian Hotel.

Review 17:Nothing.

Review 18:Great atmosphere in historic palazzo. Large rooms. Excellent location in heart of car-free historic centre. Generous breakfast. Receptionist was helpful with restaurant reservation.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:All the modern conveniences within old world charm. Large elegant room wigh balcony overlooking plaza. Wished we could have stayed longer than one night. Great location in centre of old section of town- great shopping. Breakfast included in price- excellent selection in beautiful dining room. Staff very helpful- recommended excellent restaurant called Italo.

Review 21:A little street noise but the ambience is worth it. Room also tended to be over-heated so open window contributed here! Note that if you don't have a 'superior' room, you won't have kettle/tea-making facility.

Review 22:This was a return visit over many years. The hotel is in the historic centre of town- near two piazzas (check market days!) and many interesting shops and lovely restaurants. Note that the top room is not serviced by the lift, but is floral sweet with a bath! Breakfast smorgasbord is appropriate, with fresh coffee served personally.

Review 23:The only complaint is the free WiFi. If your device went to sleep, you would have to go to a website to re-log in every time. You would not have to re-input credentials, but you would have to re-join the network every time. I understand there are issues in Italy with anti-terrorism laws and that they must keep the identity of every person on their wifi, but their solution seemed over-cumbersome. Overall, it was a minor annoyance to a wonderful stay.

Review 24:I booked this trip based on a website that stated the hotel could easily arrange tours to a local dairy for a parmeggiano reggiano tour. We were more than pleased with our room. The triple room was a large, comfortable room, perfect for our family and breakfast was included. We have stayed in many Italian hotels, and breakfast was a good offering for Italy, catering to the international guest. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. Also, secure parking was available which was very important to us.

Review 25:There was one step to get up to or down from the bathroom, which was rather awkward and worrisome, especially at night.

Review 26:We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel, smack dab in the center of the lovely city of Reggio Emilia. We had a superior room that was large, well furnished and decorated head to toe with a floral print. The entire hotel was architecturally stunning and beautifully decorated in a very traditional style. We had a view out our window onto the Piazza Prampolino, where we discovered market day in progress twice in our five night stay. The people at the front desk were personable and helpful, especially Monica and Stefania. The family who owns the hotel also has a facility producing balsamic and a restaurant where it appears on much of the menu. They also own one of the five dairies in the consortium that produces parmigiano reggiano. You can arrange visits to both through the hotel when you book, and the dairy visit was one of the highlights of our trip. Another nice thing is that there is an attached garage, so your car can stay right there and be available when you need it. Be sure to get good directions to get there because it's a challenge to find with a gps, once you're in the city. It's a great place for making you feel you've gone back in time but with all the comforts you would expect in a hotel of this kind.

Review 27:The hotel should make it clear that, while the hotel is located in the city center where automobile traffic is prohibited, hotel guests are exempted. We went around in circles for 45 minutes before finding a way to contact the hotel and get this information. It was very frustrating.

Review 28:The location in town is excellent. The staff was friendly.

Review 29:Medieval atmospheric hotel in perfect central location. Beautiful rooms with fantastic high ceilings and good powerful shower in bathroom. Pleased to find security safe in room. Friendly staff spoke excellent English. Good selection at breakfast, sadly didn't have time to try the free bikes.

Review 30:Need better instructions on how to get there by car.

Review 31:This beautiful hotel is in the center of everything. You could not get a better location. It is hard to get to by car as it is in an area of town that is pedestrian. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is regal and would highly recommend it.

Review 32:No tea/coffee facilities in room. Need to pre-book food tours, ideally group tours with transport from hotel would assist those without cars.

Review 33:Great location in the centre of town. Fabulous breakfast and very well maintained.

Review 34:Breakfast can be expanded to include eggs; No elevator - this was probably the only downside in the Hotel- but the manager is more than happy to port the luggage to your room

Review 35:Staff were professional, courteous and paid attention to details

Review 36:Having to navigate the pedestrian roads by car to get to the hotel. Heating in room did not work.

Review 37:Excellent location, very nice room, large bath, good breakfast, available parking.

Review 38:The WiFi could be slightly better.

Review 39:I was very impressed with every aspect of the Hotel Posta, The staff are excellent professionals of a very high standard, every detail is taken care of. Not only did I enjoyed the experience of staying in such an historic building but really appreciated being treated as a guest rather than a number. The hotel and staff still have values which have long since disappeared in most other venues.

Review 40:Bedding could do with updating with mattress toppers for greater comfort. Tea and coffee making facilities in rooms please.

Review 41:Traditional style service and accommodation. Very helpful staff at reception.

Review 42:No complaints whatsoever

Review 43:Right on the main square - get a room overlooking if possible. Very clean and well maintained. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay again. On site car parking is a bonus. Excellent base for exploring a wonderful part of Italy

Review 44:The hotel's location in the center of the old town, and the narrow, often one-way streets surrounding it make finding it a bit problematic. Fortunately, hotel signs with arrows have been posted, which helps.

Review 45:The hotel's location, once found, was excellent, in the heart of the old part of town, very near restaurants, shopping, historic walking areas, and gelaterias. It offers secure, convenient parking. The staff were helpful, accommodating and able. The hotel arranges interesting visits to producers of the local food specialities, such as balsamic vinegar and Parma ham. The hotel building itself is historic and beautiful, with a charm and elegance found only in former times. It is the oldest hotel in Reggio nell Emilia; next year it will celebrate its 500th birthday

Review 46:Very nice location, excellent service. Very positive the fact that there is a separate room for three people.

Review 47:Small shower room

Review 48:Breakfast Location Staff

Review 49:Extra cost for car park

Review 50:Beautiful historic building and surrounding area. Comfort and ambiance. Excellent breakfast.

Review 51:Very difficult to find even with map due to one way streets in city centre.

Review 52:Lovely large room and bathroom. Parking was on site and secure

Review 53:'Standard Room' was adequate, however it might be worth an upgrade to a more comfortable bed

Review 54:Excellant breakfast Nice central location

Review 55:Small room for single person

Review 84:Hotel Posta is the place to stay in Reggio Emilia - friendly staff, central location and good atmosphere.

Review 85:Would like body lotion in bathroom

Review 86:That I could not stay longer.

Review 87:stupid shower design crabby help when trying to book tours

Review 88:fast wifi nice breakfast

Review 89:Everything was perfect!

Review 90:Wonderful experience of luxury from a past era! And a great breakfast!

Review 91:the Staff were a real help especially In assisting us in locating the hotel, (thanks Mario) since it's in a historical centre and driving around a place as this is not for the faint hearted. the suite was amazing for the 3 of us. The room was very clean and exceeded our expectations.

Review 92:We loved the location of Hotel Posta. The staff was exceptional! Max provided us with fantastic service and restaurant recommendations. In addition, he assisted us with a rental car problem. The room was quiet, comfortable and beautifully decorated.

Review 93:Wi-fi was slow and sketchy. My friends room down the hall was on the square and a co a pub so was very noisy.

Review 94:My room was quiet, the included breakfasts were wonderful.

Review 95:Beautiful hotel. Fantastic historical setting. Excellent location in the heart of Reggio Emilia. Lovely rooms and common areas. Fantastic breakfast buffet.

Review 96:Quiet and comfortable. excellent choice at breakfast and delightful staff serving it. Children breaking Easter eggs was fun. Looking forward to next visit.

Review 97:The mattress was too hard - and we like hard mattresses. We weretraveling in Italy very light, carrying duffel bags and day packsand using public transit. We had a feeling of being looked down onby the staff because we were not driving a car and lugging around aton of luggage.

Review 98:The building itself was very impressive - built in the 1300 or1400's and decorated very nicely. The staff arranged a tour of acheese factory that was the highlight of our stay in Reggio Emilia andwe would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Review 99:personnel professional but just a little cold

Review 100:the comfort of bedroom. we had been upgraded to suite. big bathroom. great breakfast and breakfast room. Tea making facility

Review 101:There is nothing that we did not like.

Review 102:Located in the center of the historic town. Service, staff, hotel rooms, breakfast all were excellent. The tours offered by the hotel to the parmesan factory and balsamic production visit were also excellent. Everyone, including Umberto the owner, made us feel very welcome and could not do enough for us.

Review 103:Having to rush away on business

Review 104:Superlatively good. Reggio Emilia is a little known town, but very well worth a visit. Hotel Posta may not be the easiest to find, but it is divine.

Review 105:Somewhat difficult to find, but once we found a sign pointing us in the right direction we found it without difficulty. Also, the log on to the wifi was a bit confusing, necessitating two trips to the front desk for clarification.

Review 106:The ambiance was wonderful. Very comfortable beds, wonderful location in the middle of town. The front desk personnel was very attentive. One woman in particular, Monica, went way out of her way to help us set up a tour of a cheese factory closer to where we were heading than where they usually go. She was wonderful.

Review 107:It can be noisy at night if you are on street side.

Review 108:It is a beautiful old hotel in the heart of a beautiful city, Reggio Emilia. It is a very pleasant, clean place to stay while in this city.

Review 109:The standard rooms are really small and very basic

Review 110:The Suite - We got a suite on arrival as the room we had originally booked was tiny and very basic so we paid more and upgraded to a one bedroom suite which was luckily available. A lift...many accommodations in Italy have stairs only!

Review 111:The staff were rude and condescending It was impossible to find the hotel with your car though. They did send someone to drive the car through the maze if streets though to the hotel

Review 112:The TomTom took us all around town before we got there.

Review 113:Great little hotel. Lots of charm. Great room ammenities. Front deskvery helpful. Humberto has a great hotel and restaurant at Cavazonne.Don't miss the dinner or balsamic operation. Can't wait to go back.

Review 114:They set up complimentary tours of the balsamic vinegar farm that theyown and an English speaking tour of a nearby parmesan cheese makingoperation. Directions to the hotel from the autostrada were easy due toall the "turn here" signs in town. Directions to the two tours were"right on the money" and we didn't even have gps.

Review 115:The male hotel manager was not welcoming and was not helpful when we found that the internet did not work, which was of huge importance to us as we were arranging business appointments. The young man collecting our car and driving us to the location was most helpful.

Review 116:we booked an amazing room with a balcony overlooking the square for 3 nights, unfortunately one of the nights there was an outdoor cinema which was dismanled after the screening - until early hours! Another night there was a festival so the stage and screen was re-erected and then dismanled again after the nights' festivities! i would perhaps recommend a different room if you are looking for a restful break, even as beautiful as the room was. on a more positive note it was ideally located for exploring the streets, restaurants and shops.

Review 117:The staff were very helpful, the owner even offered us a lift to the farmhouse restaurant/ balsamic tour which was incredible. Loved the bikes that the hotel provides free of charge

Review 118:Hotel was hard for us to find - I had asked in advance for some drivingdirections to reach it in our auto, but never received them. With no mapof Reggio-Emilia, we were in the dark, and finally asked a stranger on ascooter to lead us to hotel, which she did. We gave up the tour ofcheese factory because we were afraid we could not find the hotel againto return and check out afterward. A little handout given to tourists atthe desk would help.

Review 119:They had parking for our rental car, right at the hotel entry, and anemployee who took our keys and parked it for us; he brought bags up toour room - the first time in Italy on our trip that we ever had any helpwith luggage offered. We are a pair of 80 year old ladies, and reallyappreciated it. We also arrived by accident and poor scheduling, a dayearly; the desk staff handled this with aplomb, cancelled some tours wehad had them book for us, rolled with the changes very politely.

Review 120:We enjoyed the free tours arranged with our two night stay for thebalsamic vinegar farm and the Parmesan cheese farm. The breakfast buffetwas very good.

Review 121:Hotel Posta is na an excellent location. THe rooms were clean and very comfortable. THe owner of the hotel cares deeply about doing his best for the guests. The breakfast was delicious. I would return the next time i am in the area.
