Reviews for Hotel Mt. Fuji

Review 1:During cloudy day, you can't see mount fuji, so do try to stay at least 2 nights for better luck which it happened to me. I didn't get to see mount fuji on the 2nd night but yes after 1st night.

Review 2:Staff is helpful when I checked in the hotel at almost 1am due to flight delayed. The staff provided me instant noodles when I told him I need some food but unfortunately restaurant was closed and at the end he brought me to choose the noodles from the closed souvenir shop in the hotel. The souvenir shop is good if you are buying some gift items. Onsen is wonderful too. The mount fuji view is spectacular in the morning just facing my window. The breakfast also nice with plenty choices and do try the grilled fish.Hotel provides shuttle bus and from where the hotel bus stop, just cross over to opposite bus stop and there is a bus to Gotemba station and you can take JR train to Kyoto.

Review 3:Good location for people who drive. Staff are all very helpful. Room is very clean and can see my Fuji from the balcony. Very happy with this stay and would definitely come back again.

Review 4:No shops or restaurants nearby but excellent shuttle service, but I enjoyed the tranquility which I came for.

Review 5:The room was very clean and comfortable. Unobstructed view of Mount Fuji from my bed. Excellent breakfast with wide variety of western and Japanese food. Staff very helpful but some spoke little English. Shuttle took me everywhere and picked me up at any time. Excellent onsen which I enjoyed for 4 nights. When I checked out they gave me 4 very large photos of Mt. Fuji.

Review 6:In house hotel prices little bit overrated; of course such a view has to be paid with a) hotel rate and b) remote location ..... Getting to and from the hotel is a little bit tricky and can be cost intense in case you have to rely on taxis....but that's the price you pay for having such view and quietness

Review 7:View from hotel patio on Mount Fuji is incredible

Review 8:Staff did not completely delivered promise (did not help to book cost as promised, as such we need to get on another coach that took more time in transit)

Review 9:Location and staff's working attitude

Review 10:The location is a bit too secluded since it is up on a mountain. They do provide shuttle bus service down but there is a timing to follow. To go back to the hotel you will have to get a cab.

Review 11:Love the view that we have from our room. We managed to see Mt Fuji during sun rise and it was really pretty. The staff is also really helpful with all our enquiry. They even helped us to check out the bus timings by calling to check with the bus operator.

Review 12:Buffet could've been better for such a price. Also being on a hill, not close to amenities. Restaurants were very pricey.

Review 13:Staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. Onsen was great! Perfect place to see Fuji if it's a good day. Booklet to redeem money back was worth it! Plenty of activities to choose from.

Review 14:The egg roll in the breakfast was disappointed...it's a traditional dish, I usually love it but not this time...

Review 15:Excellent location !! Great view !! Comfortable!! Love the bed!!

Review 16:The view of Mt. Fusi is breath-taking. Every room comes with the view of Fujisan. Breakfast is awesome. Hot bath facility is very nice. There's option of outdoor hot bath with great view. Kawakuchiko area also has other spots to lounge. Great stop for a day trip even if you don't stay overnight here.

Review 17:The view is breathtaking-trying to get there by train from Nagoya was difficult, so we rented a car. Karaoke room was nice, but the fee for 1 hour is 2000 yen...a bit expensive if you ask me.

Review 18:Driving was great as it allowed us to go into town for dinner since the restaurants at the hotel were fairly expensive. Spa was brilliant (view, space and massage chair) and the rooms was very nice.

Review 19:expensive dinner

Review 20:The rooms were VERY comfortable. We had a great view of Mt Fuji and the lake. The free spa was just superb. Breakfast was good. We didn't bother with dinner as it looked expensive. The staff and manager were great but we did chat to them a lot. Location is ok as there is a shuttle bus and a taxi back from the village was only £8.00

Review 21:We were happy we hired a car as this made it easy to get around on our own schedule and travel many distances. The front desk made an error when exchanging our money and after some explanation we were told AUD dollar was not a currency they would exchange The hotel requires you pay extra to use the pool facility, this should be included in the cost.

Review 22:There was parking available The room was a good size and very clean The public spa was so amazing!!

Review 23:I would like to see the hotel update thier carpeting and furniture in the main hallways and public seating areas It is time worn

Review 24:Proximity to Mt. Fuji was excellent but transportation was challenging to determine the best route unless having rented a car The rooms are very large and comfortable Breakfast buffet and lunch are excellent Gardens are beautiful

Review 25:Two major disappointments. 1)The staff were not welcoming and were not interested in helping with our enquiries. However at other times they were overbearing and stilted in their attempt to guide us around the facility when we didn't want any help 2) due to the location of the hotel on top of the hill we decided it would be more convenient to have dinner at the hotel, there is a French restaurant (expensive) and Japanese restaurant (prices seemed reasonable). However it was the smallest meal ever. I ate in the meal in 3 small mouthfuls to make it last. I didn't want to embarrass the staff. The 2 entree and 2 "main meal" plate sizes belong on the sushi train. It ended up costing us $75 (this included a 500ml bottle of water costing $11.00)

Review 26:The hotel amenities are excellent, clean and comfortable - no complaints. Breakfast was superb

Review 27:The pillows were uncomfortable and lack of enough Western food at the buffet.

Review 28:The view was amazing. The staff had excellent communication and went out of their way to assist us at all times.

Review 29:Dinner offerings were pricey and limited, since we were far from town, we needed to take a cab to get more choices.

Review 30:Breakfast was excellent and good value for what was offered. Hot springs were comforting and convenient. Shuttle service was superb.

Review 31:All experience are wonderful

Review 32:It can not be better, the hotel is on a hill, Fuji Mt and the lake is an unbeatable view. Hotel food is wonderful, though little expensive, but definitely worth it. The outdoor hotspring have a view of Mt. Fuji which is really wonderful experience. Hotel staff is so kind and professional, though their speak little English, they still provide wonderful great help during my stay. There is vending machine and ice machine on each floor, most appreciate facility after you had the hot spring sauna. Myself and my family had a wonderful time in this hotel.

Review 33:Accessing the hotel might be a little inconvenient for those with large luggage. Unless you are taking a cab there, you would have to take a local bus from Mt Fuji station to Mt Fuji Yamanakako bus stop where you will then have to call the hotel for a pick up.

Review 34:The beautiful view of Yamanakako lake and Mt.Fuji from my room

Review 35:The decor needs updating (last updated mid-nineties?) and the hotel is not geared well for foreigners who do not have command of the Japanese language.

Review 36:The view, gardens, and location were great. The staff at the restaurant worked hard to make us comfortable.

Review 37:The staff could not communicate well in English and the restaurants were slow, expensive and the food was sub-par.

Review 38:The location, hotel and garden were very nice.

Review 39:the limited slots in shuttle service. wish there were more timing, like all the way to the evening so that it allows guests (without transport) to roam a little longer outside. the pick up point for the hotel “hotel mt fuji iriguchi” is not visible for non-japanese tourists. we missed the stop and almost lost our way.

Review 40:Hotel location view is breathtaking.... priceless for sure. They have many friendly staffs The driver cum porter and japanese restaurant lady captain is one of their best staff that provide excellent service. Can understand and speak better english(very simple and slow). The onsen is super neat and clean. The snacks and drinks sold in the souvenir shop is reasonable priced too. we missed the pick up point for the shuttle service on the day of check in, the hotel went all the way to send the porter and picked us up from a stop that were slightly further away. we were really thankful for their help. we love the nature walk too and enjoyed sitting at the bench with an awesome view. It was really serene.

Review 41:The accommodation was a rather pricey, and the restaurants were ridiculously expensive. We ended buying a cheap takeout meal from the Indian restautrant at the bottom of the hill, and cheap wine from the convenience store.

Review 42:The outside bath with the night view of Mt Fuji was pretty cool. The morning view of Mt. Fuji was pretty good too.

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:Mt.Fuji it liked a paradise on earth. I liked every single detail of this classic hotel such as the old and modern style of the furniture with a touch of Japanese style, the room with lake-mountain view, hospitality, the food, restaurant decor, smiley employees and the amazing forest way that contain unique birds, old trees and different animals. It will be not my last visit to this lovely hotel.

Review 45:The food in the restaurants is very limited and over-priced. There are many options for dining in town that make choosing the hotel restaurants unlikely.

Review 46:The views from the hotel, the garden and the comfort of the rooms are all top-notch.

Review 47:There was nothing that we did not like.

Review 48:The location is fantastic looking out over the lake and with a view of Mount Fuji. The hotel looks new inside and is spotlessly clean. The staff are very professional The location is fantastic looking out over the lake and with a view of Mount Fuji. The hotel looks new inside and is spotlessly clean. The staff are very professional and service is excellent. The food at the restaurants and at the breakfast buffet are superb. We loved the grounds that view the sauna and the location. Our rate for this weekend trip was a very good deal.

Review 49:Separated spa males/females, some of the equipment were little older, I was not impressed by food either.

Review 50:Very nice location and hiking trails around the Yamanakako lake, view to Fuji, super nice staff, they have gave us the picture of mount Fuji as last day of our stay was not nice weather1.

Review 51:We had some technical problems with the wifi. We were not able to use Internet in our room.

Review 52:Loved the room and the view was amazing. I woke up at 6AM and checked out the view and you can see the big old Mt. Fuji

Review 53:hard to travel to. but if you go there make sure you have a Skype credits enough to call the hotel to have the hotel car pick you up in 10 min.

Review 54:Have a lot of facilities, i have had my first onsen experience here. have games room karaoke, great view in the garden, private hot swimming pool. it's like the Japanese tourist hotel. not many foreigners.

Review 55:Reluctance of staff to give 30 min extension of checkout to accommodate our travel arrangements. Sashimi in Japanese restaurant was not fresh. Breakfast was more Western than Japanese.

Review 56:Spa incl sauna, massage chairs were all excellent.

Review 57:I didn't book enough nights to enjoy my time there.

Review 58:it has one of the most epic views of mount Fuji . I could help myself take pictures of the place from the early hours of the morning till the night. the buffet was in a class of its own. the people were so hospitable that even the night guard offered me his own charger for the night. overall the hotel is worth a longer stay than one night. follow alitaqi10194 on Instagram to see how beautiful the place is.

Review 59:Express bus throw me at Hotel Mt.Fuji bus stop, haven't have simcard to call out yet, need to ask for help from shop nearby to give a call for hotel shuttle to pick up us.

Review 60:Excellent view of Mt.Fuji! Everything was just great, Their view, environment, restaurant also nice!

Review 61:Thought the dinner at the restaurant was a bit overpriced. Wasnt really happy with the meal I got for the amount I paid. Was still hungry after.

Review 62:Loved the view, the comfort of the room, the location! It was really nice. Wish I had stayed another night. Next time!

Review 63:- The food in the hotel is below average and very overpriced - Hotel is difficult to reach via public transport

Review 64:- Fantastic views on Fujisan and the lake from the hotel - Great onsen with an outdoor section - Rooms are very spacious and comfy - Staff are extremely helpful

Review 65:Lack of transportation to and from the hotel. You need to make your way to the bus stop just in front of the hotel which could be quite difficult for a foreigner if you are taking the bus. Limited shuttle bus time down to the bus stop.

Review 66:Onsen, location

Review 67:shuttle bus finishes at 2:15 so you need to get a taxi to to the lake after this time which is very expensive.

Review 68:Lovely hotel with great views of Mt. Fuji and a nice spa to relax in. Friendly helpful staff. choice of 2 restaurants to eat at the hotel (Japanese and French).

Review 69:Not much but if I had to pick something I'd say that the bathroom not as comfortable as the rest of the room. Also a car would be essential for ease of getting about, although there seemed to be shuttle buses.

Review 70:Mount Fuji views, comfortable rooms and very good breakfast.

Review 71:Difficult location to get to. The local town is a very disappointing which means that one is stuck at the hotel during the visit. To reach the town you need to call the gratuity bus service which is not available at all times. It took us 30 minutes to walk to the town.

Review 72:The garden was great and, thanks to a sunny day, we had wonderful views of Mt Fuji.

Review 73:Only complaint was limited English on staff. lack of less expensive food options

Review 74:Mt Fuji is spectacular and this hotel offers mountain views from all rooms

Review 75:Don't have viewing spot w/o trees that are blocking Mt. Fuji complete shape. View like at the lakeside w/o trees blocking the view.

Review 76:Very friendly staff and awesome hotel location and facilities on top of the mountain. Special thanks to ARI-San who guided and assisted us when we wanted to explore and see cherry blossom place at Kofu city. He is Mt. Fuji key talent to satisfy customer like me who wanted to explore new places alone. Bus driver on duty on 3/31 also corrected our bus ride location for us get to Kofu city. Very well done and vigilance on him assist us!

Review 77:The food is expensive.

Review 78:The rooms are big and spacious and it has balcony where you can view the majestic Mt . Fuji and the staff are very nice and polite.

Review 79:The views of Mt Fuji from our balcony(when it wasn't swathed in cloud!) were breathtaking. Also a great view of Lake Yamanaka helped. It snowed while we ate dinner in The Main Dining restaurant which was quite magical.

Review 80:The hotel was difficult to get to and isolated which gave it a resort feel without resort facilities. The hotel and had a 70s feel and could really use an update both in decor and level of service.

Review 81:Great view of Mt Fuji and biggest room and beds of our entire Japan trip. Staff were very friendly.

Review 82:It's a bit difficult to get there if you don't have a car. We asked for no room cleaning and they still came and entered the room.

Review 83:The staff was very attentive. The spa area was nice and quiet. We used to hotel shuttle and they came very quickly for us once called.

Review 84:when speaking to the front desk in English, make sure you speak slowly

Review 85:view is excellent. although the hotel is not along the lake, shuttle bus services are provided.

Review 86:Fabulous room with a view of the great Fujisan! Loved taking plenty of photos from our balcony and given that it was a clear winters afternoon and following morning with glorious sunshine it was simply perfect! The onsen is a much to visit and enjoy if you haven't before. It was my first time and it was lovely as there is an outdoor section too. Don't worry the onsen is segregated between male and female. Due to the great hilltop location it is also a bit isolated from the town so if you don't have your own transport you may need to either grab or taxi to go out for food or enjoy a meal at either the french or japanese restaurants at the resort. We did the latter. It was fine but paid for the location.

Review 87:Nothing comes to mind. A good solid hotel that I would stay at again. Perhaps a little expensive for what you get.

Review 88:Location exceptional. Overlooking yamanakako and a really good view of MT Fuji.

Review 89:It's a pity the breakfast wasn't included in the room charge, (most Japanese hotel do), we paid extra $18 / person.

Review 90:very nice room, nice hot spring area, and not crowded at all during weekdays.

Review 91:Having to take a taxi to go any where in the vicinity. Would recommend renting a car!

Review 92:It had been rainy & cloudy from the time we got to hotel. The following day was well worth the wait to finally see Mt. Fuji.

Review 93:The room we had was 2 separate single beds, not a double. Make sure you book a double bed if you want one.

Review 94:Amazing view, all the staff spoke english and made us feel very special going above and beyond for us.

Review 95:Images make one believe you could see Mont Fiji from the hotel but that's not the case. Staff don't speak English and very poor attitude. They claim to have a shuttle service but they don't run a regular schedule. One would need to call the hotel if you could find a telephone. I spent over $250 on taxis from train stations and bus stops. Don't waste your money.

Review 96:The peace and serenity of the hotel location and surrounding gardens.

Review 97:No dislikes

Review 98:We both were delighted with not only the view over the lake but the proximity to and spectacular views of Fujisan. Comfortable Hotel with helpful courteous staff.

Review 99:We asked for a double but the bed was really too small for 2 people so we had to change for a twin room. They have a pool but you have to pay extra to use it.

Review 100:The onsen was beautiful and big with a lot of different things -hot pool, hammam, sauna-. The view was really nice as well. The breakfast buffet was tasty with a lot of choice.

Review 101:The place wasn't really set up for non-Japanese speakers. Few of the staff spoke much English, and forget getting any useful info about how to find your way around town - everything is in Japanese characters with nary a Romanized letter to be found. I've had lots of great, fresh Japanese food over the years, but not here. The Kaiseki (Japanese haute cuisine) prix fixe meal was poor - the ingredients not fresh and the taste bland when it wasn't rank. The architecture interfered with the view, rather than maximizing it. The hotel seemed to be wholly devoted to squeezing money from Japanese tourists and wedding parties, meaning a wonderful location was completely wasted. Demolish the place, hire a proper Japanese architect and professional hotel management, retrain the staff, and do some worldwide marketing. Then you might have something worthy of Mount Fuji and this hotel's location near it. In the meantime, look elsewhere.

Review 102:The location was terrific - atop a mountain looking with Mt. Fuji directly across. Mattress was pleasingly firm. Spa included massage chairs, outdoor hotsprings, indoor onsan, jacuzzi, and sauna with adjacent cold bath. (Towels not provided - bring from your room).

Review 103:The location is not easy to find.

Review 104:The view is fantastic. It is amazing to see the Mt. Fuji when you wake up. The staff are kind.

Review 105:Spacious room and public bath. Spectacular views of Mt Fuji

Review 106:it's a nice hotel

Review 107:No

Review 108:View ,breakfast,service

Review 109:Sunrise view of Mt Fuji from the hotel gardens is superb. Room is very clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful.

Review 110:The room is spacious with Tatami and nice view of mount Fujii

Review 111:Staff were great..even followed out with photographs of Mt. Fuji as it was overcast the two days and couldnt see the mountain..

Review 112:Old facility. Smell of smoke.

Review 113:Nice view from the terrace. Nice spa. Good breakfast.

Review 114:Very nice upscale hotel for the price.

Review 115:Guys at the Reception could have been more friendly .

Review 116:Great location ! Good restaurant and breakfast

Review 117:Food very good but a bit expensive: very small portions...

Review 118:Location, beautiful hotel on a hill top. Excellent food

Review 119:Great hotel to see one of the best Mt. Fuji view with cozy and silent environment.

Review 120:Awesome views

Review 121:The restaurants, very expensive

Review 122:The tatami room was lovely with a great room

Review 123:Dinner is wayyyy overpriced for very mediocre food

Review 124:Great location Great onsen - indoor and outdoor looking at Mt Fuji Included buffet breakfast

Review 125:Swimming pool not included in price. Evening buffet meal expensive for what you get.

Review 126:View from the balcony was incredible

Review 127:Really nice view of Mt. Fuji! The staff are nice. We left our iPad at the hotel, and the staff delivered it to the bus stop.

Review 128:Hotel was very old and dated.

Review 129:The free shuttle bus and the view

Review 130:Their pool has a fee if you want to use it.

Review 131:I like their baths. That was the highlight of my stay there.

Review 132:it is not easy to access by hotel if you dont rent a car

Review 133:great view and ryokan.

Review 134:Average breakfast

Review 135:View, relative value for the region and on-site onsen

Review 136:stunning fuji views. amazing spa with views (though apparently you cant see fuji from the women's spa!) hearty breakfast
