Reviews for Hotel Miramare
Review 1:Can think of anything.
Review 2:This place was amazing. Simple and quaint and charming. A true Sicilian beach experience. An amazing multi course dinner was included in the price. Staff was wonderful. Wish we could back next week! Very close to ruins.
Review 3:This was a great hotel for the area. The staff was great even though they didn't speak too much English. Expect to communicate in Italian if you are English speaking. but they were extremely patient and good natured! We had a family reunion and visited family who lived in the area. Marinella di Selinunte is a resort town, but you won't find a lot of non-Italian or non-European tourists. If you want to experience Sicilian life, this is the location to do it. The hotel was very clean, plenty of room, great balconies that we used a lot! Definitely ask for an ocean view. We could see the Selinunte ruins from our room. breakfasts were very good and typical European/Sicilian breakfasts. Don't expect American coffee. some in our group requested hot water to dilute the expresso. The connected restaurant for dinner was great. The owner set up a special dinner for our family before we even requested it. This was a high value to cost hotel. The only thing that you will experience that wouldn't be a US based hotel experience is the size of the showers (typical small European) and the beds are very firm. If you require a soft bed, you might have a problem. Noone in our group of 13 had a problem with the beds. I was highly impressed with the water pressure and the hot and cold water. I've stayed at US hotels that didn't even come close to the quality in this hotel.
Review 4:We had a view towards the restaurant in the next building and it was quite loud until 4 am in the morning.
Review 5:Next to sea, fair breakfast, close to archaeological park.
Review 6:A most shabby and down at heel resort- but you are at the centre of it! The staff are brusque at best- but the lady of the house was very helpful when we had to find a hospital for one our party.
Review 7:Very welcoming. Although lunch had finished right before we arrived after a long drive , they willingly cooked us up tasty pasta dishes and salad. We had a very comfortable triple room with a balcony overlooking the sea. This hotel has their own beach chairs and a member of staff on the beach to set you up. Lovely south facing sandy beach, good for swimming. They serve lunch and dinner inside or out. It is a short walk to the little downtown and port area. This was great fun to see the local scene after dark. Breakfast here was excellent. Lots of good coffee, good quality bread, fruit, juice and other cold items. We didn't have any trouble finding off street parking. The staff were very nice.
Review 8:The hotel is in a perfect location, in front of the sea and with private beach. All the staff, (the people at the desk, the waiters, the cleaners and the lifeguard), was very nice and helpful. Wifi is working very well, which has been useful for us as we had some work to be done.
Review 9:We did not find the staff very helpful. There is no lift and rooms are on 3 floors. They did not offer to help with luggage. The breakfast was average with no choice. As we had a late flight we asked if we could check out later. They said they would do us a good deal which involved moving to a small single room for the afternoon. In fact they charged 50 Euros which was the same as a double room on Booking.com for that night!
Review 10:Good location overlooking the sea with access to the beach. Clean, good sized, room with access to a shared terrace.
Review 11:-ugly and dirty beach -run-down and deserted village -feels like a unsafe area
Review 12:-beautiful view at the sea -very nice terrace -lovely prepared breakfast -very close to Selinunte historical park
Review 13:Having booked three months ahead, we were annoyed to be given a small room at the back. When we complained, we got a really nice room overlooking the sea (for 9 Euros more a night).
Review 14:The staff including the owner were around all the time and were very helpful. It has an excellent restaurant for dinner (as well as breakfast).
Review 15:The hotel overlooked the sea, was a minute away from a lovely beach and just a quarter of a mile away from the harbour. The owners were most helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. A perfect location for visiting Selinunte. Margaret and Pamela, UK and USA
Review 16:Little English spoken at front desk - so Google translator useful. A long walk to hotel if you arrive by bus.
Review 17:Our balcony room overlooked the beach & part of the ruins - great views & a good spot to relax. Generous breakfasts with variety. Other meals consistently good standard too.Helpful friendly waiters. The village & harbour of Marinella is just a 5 minute walk away
Review 18:The management seem to have forgotten that they were in the hospitality business and that the customers ought to be the centre of their attention. One night the fire alarm went off, the next day it was suggested that that the activation had been caused by us. No evidence to support this other than the location of the detector. One has to ask why if I am on holiday I would be awake at 4.30 am. Being involved in the fire alarm business I know that it is not as straight forward as this and that there other reasons. I explained all this to the management. No apology was received. The fire alarm appeared to continue to show a fault up to the day we left. Also I booked a double room for single occupancy and was charged accordingly. On the official tariff displayed in the room the rate was significantly lower, probably because it was actually a single room.Odd! The rooms are clean where you can see but look a little more closely and they are not. We stayed for over a week and perhaps for shorter stays, as was the case with most guests during our time there, the hotel would be okay.
Review 19:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was recently refurbished and in good condition. The beach facilities were good. The location was excellent, plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes and seaside shops close by. The town was busy and relaxing with a good atmosphere in the evening.
Review 20:Conditioning is not working properly. Slightly cool the air.
Review 21:Very good breakfast. All kinds of coffee: espresso, cappuccino, coffee late. Hot chocolate or cocoa. Fresh pastries and fruit. Everything was super. The hotel beach - good . Restaurant at the hotel - very good. The food is great, the portions large. Seafood - Fresh. Pizzas are baked in the oven woodshed - super delicious! The staff and the hotel and restaurant are very friendly, always kindly and promptly serviced.
Review 22:At night there were many teenagers yelling by the road just below our window. Cooler made little bit of noise.
Review 23:Parking is free and well organised. Breakfast also good.
Review 24:The toilet is smelly. Air conditioning not working.
Review 25:Balcony view
Review 26:Loved the little village and the beach right next to the ruins at Selinunte.
Review 27:Amazing location, hotel, beach, sites nearby a most. Was like being in Heaven .
Review 28:I have travelled all over the world and this hotel ranks in my top 10 of Hotel, Location, Atmosphere. Great place to stay.
Review 29:Great location!
Review 30:I loved the sea and the food.
Review 31:Nothing - nice stay.
Review 32:Beautiful old style hotel right on the beach and walkable distance to temple site.
Review 33:The owner/manager was loud and very present.
Review 34:Close to beach and the archeological site
Review 35:Beatiful view at the sea, not far from Selinunte archeological park, good breakfast, nice restaurant in front of the hotel
Review 36:Room was an uncomfortable cave with dangerous stairs and no elevator.
Review 37:Small room poorly furnished and unexciting breakfast
Review 38:Location
Review 39:Even standard talking in the corridor can be easily heard in rooms.
Review 40:Hotel is perfectly situated... food at this hotel was delicious and tasty, warm and kind staff ...
Review 41:Dated
Review 42:good breakfast and kinde people and charming waiter who sang sicilien folksongs
Review 43:Parking is a bit inconvenient.
Review 44:Staff was friendly and responsive. Breakfast was great.
Review 45:Street open-air very loud music Nonfunctional room air-condition
Review 46:Private hotel beach Great pláče near beach and near temples Great restaurants
Review 47:The hotel was right at the seaside and the waiters were friendly. We had lunch and dinner in the hotel and the portions were huge. I think maybe they were sizing up for the tourists. The archaeological site of Selinunte was nearby.
Review 48:The hotel was slightly shabby. My room window opened onto a communalbalcony so I had to choose to draw the curtain and keep the light on orhave no privacy. I was left to carry my own bag upstairs. The beach wasnot very clean. The sea just there is not very good for swimming asthere are rocks you cannot see. It was overpriced when compared withother places we stayed.
Review 49:The view was good
Review 50:The staff had some problems with my pizza order as they misheard"very little cheese" as "with little chips" but theysoon put it right. Make sure you ask for the (free) omlette with yourbreakfast otherwise the 7 Euro extra charge for breakfast would not beworth it.Only WiFi in the public areas.
Review 51:If you stay in the rooms at the front you can hear the sea and there isa wonderful view of one of the temples at Silinute.
Review 52:Poor to nonexistent air conditioning. Breakfast 7.00 euro extra, Internet only in lobby.
Review 53:Location-Across the street from beach, free beach chairs and umbrella, restaurant across the street very good. We could see the Greek temple from our balcony.
Review 54:We loved the hotel style, with its mediterranean cozy air, but above all the staff who were friendly and ready to help. The restaurant´s food is superb and the restaurant staff very helpful. the ideal place to rest in a hotel which has all you need. It couldn´t be better. Highly recommended. Oscar and Monica from Argentina
Review 55:The room was quite small and poorly furnished. ACs were noisy. Noone spoke English. The beach was too noisy, the water was cold (though everywhere else in Sicily water temperature was normal). We were disappointed.
Review 56:The breakfast was plentiful! The beach is just a few steps from the hotel, so is the Selinunte archaeological site. The restaurant serves more or less decent fish meals.
Review 57:The air conditioning didn't really work and the bed wasn't the most comfortable.
Review 58:The location was amazing. Opposite the beach and walking distance to the Selinunte ruins. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was outstanding.
Review 59:While we were there in May, we had to pay to use the beach slightlyalong from the hotel to get use of umbrella and beds (we paid 5euros aday). The photo shown on the hotel website is misleading, unless theirbeach had not been prepared for the season.
Review 60:We had a perfect room with large balcony overlooking the beach. Severalgood restaurants and beach bars on the doorstep and the one rightopposite the hotel, overlooking the sea was a great place to eat. Quietlocation. Really close to Selinunte historic site.
Review 61:The price for a low-season is not justified by the standing of the hotel.... Beakfast not included
Review 62:Friendly and helpful people, hotel is very clean, affordable, close to one of the most amazing archeological sites in Sicily
Review 63:Hotel style from the 60 ties and very loud
Review 64:Excellent Restaurant
Review 65:Et enkelt men OK hotell.
Review 66:Close to the beach and to Selinunte.Nice Place with friendly people. Good parking. Nice restaurant. Sunsets.
Review 67:Dirty surroundings. No effort by staff to tidy up the surroundings or immediate beach area. No sign that anyone had made any effort.
Review 68:Not much
Review 69:No wifi in rooms.
Review 70:Great views
Review 71:The rooms were very basic and the furniture is tired.
Review 72:Location at the beach, and beautiful view from the room.
Review 73:Limited wifi, attitude of staff, foyer was dark and uninviting
Review 74:Location and proximity to Greek ruins was excellent
