Reviews for Hotel Alceste

Review 1:Hotel generally a bit stuck in the 80's/90's with wifi connection at 1€/30minutes and a lonely computer in the lobby. The breakfast was a little poor.

Review 2:Everything pretty much ok, location calm, room and bathroom spacious. Near to the beach and close to the archeological site and local bus. Staff was helpful although not always immediately available.

Review 3:We were upgraded to a 4* hotel nearby- Admeto, because H. Alceste was full. It was marvelous.

Review 4:breakfast was supppsed to be included but was not served. for the rest staff was friendly and helpfull

Review 5:very small strange and dirty bathroom towels was not clean

Review 6:breakfast in another hotel :)

Review 7:We made reservations at hotel alceste, recommended in frommers, but uponarrival we were transferred to hotel admeto about a block from hotelalceste. We made reservations for dinner at hotel admeto but the menuewas extremely limited. We left and had a great meal at restorantepierrot, recommended in frommers. While touring selinunte we observed anamerican flag being flown inverted, something we did not appreciate.

Review 8:Location , value and the view while eating breakfast (which wasexcellent) was outstanding.

Review 9:We booked Hotel Alceste, but on arrival, we were directed to Hotel Admeto, which was across the street with a view of the Mediterranean Sea. This was an upgrade at no additional price. We were travelling in mid-May, so things were not very busy. The room was very clean, with an excellent bath. In addition, it had a very large balcony along the two outside walls of the room. The restaurant was quite good. We were able to walk to the Greek ruins at Selinunte. An excellent stay, more than meeting our expectations.

Review 10:We had booked a room in the hotel Alceste, but when we arrived there, we were advised to the hotel Admeto, on the other side of the street. Admeto is a bigger, 4-star hotel, which we got for the price of the hotel Alceste. The room was big and superb, the hotel had a good restaurant. The dinner had a great antipasti table for a big group, and we could participate. The breakfast room is on the top of the hotel, it is a glass room, with a great view over the houses to the sea. A niche stay!

Review 11:Restaurant closed but an ok opposite side of the road.

Review 12:Fine room with a balcony and a small view to the Sea. Very goodbreakfast on the terrace with fine service.

Review 13:The welcome at reception left much to be desired. The older woman who was there in the morning was sullen and unhelpful. However the young woman who took her place in the afternoon was always pleasant and friendly. The shower screen wouldn't close properly so the bathroom floor got soaked. The TV was miniscule and the volume was so low that even with one's ear against it it was practically impossible to hear the news on the one English speaking channel available. The curtains covering the room window were in need of repair. When we checked out we couldn't pay by credit card as the sullen woman announced that the lines were down, so we had to pay by cash. When we asked her what would have happened if we hadn't had cash available she said we would have to have gone to the bank.

Review 14:The room was big, with a partition between the double bed and the two singles. It was also a short walk from the cafes and restaurants, and ideal for visiting the temples of Selinunte. The breakfast (served on the top floor) was fine, with a good selection of meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals etc. However the fruit juice was pretty awful. Parking is easy.

Review 15:We had a large, clean and comfortable room with a balcony offering aview of the sea, albeit between other buildings. The excellent breakfastwas served at Hotel Eracle just across the street so one in able toenjoy the stunning views of the ocean and the archaeological parkwithout paying the price for a room there!

The Fine Print

The restaurant is open every day for dinner from March to October.
