Il Borgo di Vescine

Il Borgo di Vescine descritpion
Il Borgo di Vescine is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico's Gallo Nero area, famous for its wines, vineyards and wine cellars. Situated 1,950 feet above sea level, the estate is 12.4 miles from Siena and 42 from Florence.
The 13th-century village of Vescine is today a country resort preserving the original structure of a mediaeval village, in perfect harmony with the surrounding countryside. The main features of this charming establishment include a wine shop and a swimming pool with panoramic views.
The restaurant serves traditional Tuscan and Chianti cuisine, combined with fine wines from Vescine. Cooking courses and wine tasting sessions are available.
The 21 rooms and 7 suites are all independent from each other, and are set within the original houses of the Medieval hamlet. With period furniture, the rooms offer views of the charming park surrounding Vescine. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas.

Reviews for Il Borgo di Vescine
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:This was our 2nd visit to Il Borgo and it was just as good as we remembered. Quiet and beautiful location outside of Radda. Lovely pool and spacious accommodation. Good food and super wine.
Review 3:Staff didn't seem inviting. I would honestly avoid asking anything as they seemed bothered about it.
Review 4:Beautiful scenery, Clean rooms, and great dinner options.
Review 5:AC is only in the bedroom, and the TV is tiny/reception is spotty. That said, you shouldn't be staying in the room or watching TV...
Review 6:Staff was very friendly, and the location is amazing! Wi-Fi is really good.
Review 7:Nothing!
Review 8:Beautiful "village like" facility perched on the side of a hill overlooking the amazing Chianti countryside. Peaceful, classy, wow...can't say enough good things about Vescine!
Review 9:breakfast, I would describe this as a very typical middle level Italian breakfast, but however the staff is also important and they were absolutely not motivated and interested to take serious care of their guests. An Example: we have asked for cleaning the breakfast desk in front of the restaurant with the nice view to chianti mountains, but the staff just said (and this didn't happen once and happened to other guests as well) that they were in the back more seats available and we should sit there. Overall the staff is not really motivated and very frustrated. Pool: there is almost no pool service, pool cleaning is every two days and you can see all time little insects in the pool (btw: the pool is a plastic pool, not stone which is ok but some guests don't like this), which is fine when you are in the place with a lot of trees etc, but however the staff didn't come once to clean the pool during the day. Guest used the big insect bug and cleaned the pool during the day. Again it is a very nice place, but the service and facility is very middle class and the price for a night doesn't justify the overall customer experience.
Review 10:great location in Chianti, very nice place to relax
Review 11:This property was gorgeous! It was picture perfect. The pool was wonderful and the views breathtaking. The wine at the winery was very good- we had several bottles shipped home. The bartender helped us with a wine tasting, which was excellent! We then took a bottle of wine and sat by the pool to relax. We did not leave the property- dinner was outstanding and breakfast equally as good. We would absolutely stay here again!
Review 12:This hotel is amazing. We stayed here for our honeymoon and could not have been happier. Fantastic food and wine, great location (if you have a car) and the staff were wonderful. Would love to stay here again.
Review 13:The staff was quiet unfriendly. Especially a skin headed guy at the reception was unpolite and unfriendly and left a bitter taste of the whole hotel. His english was really bad, too and communication wasn`t possible. All in all the staff seemed not really motivated, was slow and forgot orders continously. The breakfast offering was good but it was not good replenished. I would have spent my money more likely if the staff would have been more friendly hospitable.
Review 14:t was a nice traditional house in the middle of toscana. I loved all-terrain. Really ramoantic. With a nice pool and veranda. The breakfast was good, for dinner I would recommand another restaurant. There is enough parking space. Rooms where traditional too, with old fashioned furniture. My friends had trouble in their room with air conditioning and their door lock, it was repaired immediatly.
Review 15:For several days there was no internet connectivity - the problem was supposedly outside of the hotel.
Review 16:Perfect pool, super location, excellent food and wine.
Review 17:Rooms can feel small and "not airy" (limited number of windows, no terrace on our room). Staff occasionally not available at reception when needed.
Review 18:Location and setting, proximity to nature, pool, helpful staff.
Review 19:Restaurant may fill up quickly. Room could be cleaner.
Review 20:Excellent WiFi coverage in the room. Quality wine tasting. Top quality restaurant. Lots of hiking opportunities nearby.
Review 21:We werent informed after we booked or before we arrrived that the restaurant would be closed for dinner
Review 22:Beautiful location and really friendly and helpful staff
Review 23:It was November and the restaurant was closed. About 10 to 15 minutes from nearest towns...
Review 24:It was a nice looking place, clean, outside areas were well maintained. Great breakfast. Scenic.
Review 25:No hot water the first morning. It was remedied.
Review 26:Location is perfect. Unique small village experience. Beautiful vistas of Chianti valley. Excellent breakfast. Fine on the rooftop terrace.
Review 27:No value for money in general, the quality of the food in the restaurant is a joke and not worth the money they charge for. I would not eat there at night.
Review 28:nice staff, big rooms
Review 29:Broken steps Poor maintenance Tiny bathroom Wasps everywhere Breakfast Buffett poor choice and yesterday food served up next day
Review 30:Bed Views Setting Free wine tasting Pool Staff
Review 31:Nothing, perhaps the dinner could be improve for a the hotel of this category
Review 32:The hotel is wonderfull, big parking and the services very good, breakfast very good and the coffe to, flowers, stones
Review 33:Very few negatives
Review 34:Lovely hilltop location and within easy reach of Radda and Castellinafor dinner and days out. Driving is a must as there aren't manytaxis in the area. Vescine is lovely and rustic and kept very clean. A 4night stay here will be enough before heading off to anotherarea/region. Restaurant is lovely also serving tuscan food. We wentin middle of July and the hotel (and area) was very quiet and didn'thear a british accent the whole time - perfect if that's whatyou're after!
Review 35:Nothing - we did have trouble figuring out the air conditioning.
Review 36:We were so happy with this stay that I can't recommend it enough for the whole experience. I took a cooking class with Carla and Claudo, as interpreter. It was amazing and so much fun. Virginia gave us a superior wine tasting and as a wine and snack when we arrived. It is beautiful and right between Cassilini and Radda in Chianti. Reception was also great - especially Matteo.
Review 37:Only negative point I could make, which is minor is that the air con machine was old and extremely loud!
Review 38:A really amazing medieval hamlet, the courtyard area was picturesque, and the scenery was beautiful. The place had few rooms and never felt busy, very peaceful buy the pool. Very good food in the restaurant and excellent wine tasting experience. It was my birthday during the stay and the staff provided Prosecco, flowers etc for the occasion. The suite was a good size with a sitting room and small terrace area overlooking the hills. Radda in Chianti itself was a fantastic location, great for exploring Siena and surrounding area.
Review 39:The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Franchesca. Breakfast was excellent, and the cooking class was very fun. A beautiful property.
Review 40:Nothing.
Review 41:View was great! Excellent room. Two bathrooms were wonderful!
Review 42:Simply put .. It's a piece of heaven !
Review 43:Beautiful place, amazing views, the best breakfast I had in a hotel!!! Wine testing, staff, atmosphere…just great, and unforgettable place!
Review 44:Relaxed country location within easy drive of several small interesting towns. Excellwnt wine and breakfast.
Review 45:EVERYTHING
Review 46:The first night in the room with noisy and not functioning air condition
Review 47:beautiful landscapes, very good breakfast
Review 48:Bed was not comfortable. Bathroom tiles were dirty.
Review 49:excellent location, free footwear to wear in the room
Review 50:Had trouble finding the hotel as it's a some distance from nearest town.
Review 51:Restaurant - food and service Wine tasting accommodation
Review 52:Beautiful surroundings, cottage like and spacious accommodation, very helpful staff, excellent wines from their own winery and very good restaurant
Review 53:Great location Nice views Close to Siena, arezzo, florence,... peaceful
Review 54:No back ground easy music in the pool
Review 55:The nice man around the hotel, giving flowers to my wife
Review 56:Beautiful views from the swinmingpool, relaxing and perfect wines
Review 57:finding it was difficult
Review 58:our room, the food, the quaintness/privacy and beauty... all spectacular
Review 59:Be prepared for a long drive on winding narrow roads if you drive in. Worth the drive (and the views while you drive, if you're the passenger!)
Review 60:The setting was idealic. It's even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures. The room was comfortable and very spacious, with a breathtaking view. The staff was very hospitable and helpful. We mentioned that there wasn't much at the restaurant that we would eat, as we don't eat red meat, sausage, etc - the next night, we noticed that the daily specials were all vegetarian options. The breakfast was great, perfect start to each day. We loved every minute of our stay.
Review 61:There were lots of ants in our room. No laundry service, what is strange for 4-star hotel. Unfortunately in reality rooms (we saw two rooms) looked much more poor than at the pictures at booking.com
Review 62:Beautiful territory of the hotel, good restaurant and bar.
Review 63:We had a great 3 days in the Hotel. We loved the location, the style, the comfort, and the staff. We recommend it to everyone, and would like to return. Do not miss the Saturday market in Castellina in Chianti.
Review 64:The staff we're extremely helpful and friendly, the food was delicious and our room was beautiful with stunning views and a gorgeous terrace. The pool had the most amazing views where you could relax and take in the scenery. Excellent stay can't wait to return.
Review 65:Mis-selling of room. We bought a suite that was advertised with a balcony and stunning views of the chianti hills. Turns out no rooms have a balcony and we had views of a bush. The hotel didn't have a bar area or any entertainment for the evenings. Location is quite isolated and the postcode provided didn't take you to the hotel but to Radda itself - about 10 minute drive away.
Review 66:The staff were all excellent, particularly the restaurant staff.
Review 67:I'd give the restaurant a miss and head into Radda if you don't mind driving after an evening meal. The food was okay but far from inspiring.
Review 68:The hotel is actually an entire medieval hamlet, fallen into disrepair and renovated? The rooms are little stone-walled houses. The pool is great and the views stunning.
Review 69:We had a lovely stay at this hotel and would ABSOLUTELY return! Our room was lovely and spacious, the grounds were impeccably maintained, the view from poolside is beautiful and everyone there - reception, sommelier and our waiter were wonderful. We enjoyed lovely breakfasts - delicious cheeses and homemade breads and great Tuscan dinners just steps from our room. You won't be disappointed in any way. We just returned from our trip and the photos make wish we were still there.
Review 70:Couldn't fault it...
Review 71:Absolutely perfect. A beautiful original hamlet, great restaurant serving local cuisine and wines. Easy to get to, and close to two of the nicest old villages in Chianti.
Review 72:Nothing. We loved everything.
Review 73:Wow if you want the Tuscany experience look no further than this hotel. Breathtaking is the only way to describe it. The room was spacious and well kept. Very tidy. The views and dining area are spectacular. As well as the pool area. Amazing hotel and so worth the cost.
Review 74:One of my favorite stays in Europe on a hillside over looking Tuscanywith great wines friendly staff and great food. The rooms were neat andvery clean for a wonderful price
Review 75:I didn't really enjoy the basic interior, too rural/medieval for my taste, at least for the money paid. Very clean room but otherwise dark with thick walls, a small window and dim lights. Not so bad if you like the style, but I expected something more. No wireless coverage in the rooms because of the thick walls. Noisy air conditioning. Didn't like the cicadas sound all day long but there is nothing the hotel can do about it. All in all, medium value for the money.
Review 76:Beautiful location with a great view to the valley and the surrounding hills. It is situated at the heart of Chianti region, at relatively equal distance from all the major points of interest: Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Brolio castle and the charming Chianti towns and villages. The hotel offers wine tasting, clean rooms, friendly staff, outdoor pool, good food all in a rural/medieval setup if you like the style. Breakfast was ok for my taste but don't expect british style.
Review 77:Don't do the cooking course, we paid 90eur per person and wedidn't even get to plate our own food. The chicken was left cookingas we walked out and I still have no idea what was in the sauce that"we" made. Other than that it was great.
Review 78:Beautiful scenery, and accommodation, some of the staff were fantastic!
Review 79:The hotel did not really cater for English travellers, breakfasts were favoured for german and Italian travellers, I feel that they should try to adapt to the clientele. The wi fi only worked outside of the rooms near to the reception area therefore as you are in the country there is not a lot to do after dinner. Sadly there was no atmosphere at the hotel, my husband and I did not find it a friendly place and other than travelling around during the day it was very isolating in the evenings.
Review 80:The hotel was in a beautiful location. The rooms were very clean and country feeling. The food in the restaurant in the evening was delicious. The barman was friendly.
Review 81:adress and geographic indications could be better, very difficult to find
Review 82:very nice place, very quiet, exception of the birds, in the early morning, but this is nature. very nice staff and good service. good price quality.
Review 83:The Reception offered a free snack and drinks at the arrival, because wehad a long journey and it was very late when we arrived. Unfortunatelythey made us to pay the snack and the drinks on the last day. In the endit was more expensive than going to a restaurant!
Review 84:I ordered a suite like the picture, where a four-poster bed was on thestairs, and there was a private terrace. When we arrived, we settledinto a different room. It was dark, there was a terrace. After ourrequest, the staff brought us to the desired number. During the evictionwas not working terminal, we had to pay cash, well, that the correctamount was found in the purse.
Review 85:When you check into your hotel, there is a free wine tasting. Lovelybreakfast with homemade cheese and bread, eggs can be ordered for a feeof 5 euros. Dinner at the restaurant is great. Sweet staff, very goodfood. Swimming pool with stunning views. Local wines at a high level(prices from 20 to 200 euros).Nearby there is a small town of Radda inChianti, where you can buy cheap wine and drink it on your privateterrace and enjoy nature.
Review 86:Lovely hotel, quiet and with well spaced out chalet-like rooms and a great in-house restaurant serving a varied dinner menu daily. Lots of parking space and friendly helpful staff. The breakfast spread is also splendid with lots of fresh fruits and breads and cakes. The hotel serves one of the best Fiorentine steaks we've eaten in Italy!
Review 87:It was an awe inspiring stay at the medieval hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The view from the pool side was fantastic. The atmosphere was warm and the grounds very authentic to the medieval period. We would go back there in a heart beat. The location was central to excursions to many attractions including San Gimignano ;and Florence. The local villages such as Rada, were among the favourites day adventures. The wine and food at Il Borgo were the best of Chianti.
Review 88:The air conditioning unit was too noisy. The queen bed was really twosingle mattresses pushed together on a single bed frame.
Review 89:The location was beautiful with the different buildings giving it aflavor of thirteenth century Italy. The rooms were large. The food wasexcellent with a fabulous waitstaff. We also enjoyed the wine tastingthat was included.
Review 90:Everything it was excellent!!! Good food , amasing amplasment! The wine was one of the top from toscana. 10 points for the very friendly personal of the hotel!!!
Review 91:Slightly tricky to find at first, but if you leave Castellina and headtowards Radda you'll see it - it's well signposted on the road once youreach it, but you might think you haven't gone far enough at first (oursat nav couldn't locate it specifically).
Review 92:Beautiful location in the Tuscan countryside, close to small towns ofCastellina and Radda, and 30 mins or so from Siena, and hour fromFlorence. Be prepared for a winding, hilly drive, but it's worth it.Views from the pool across the hills and forests, and close to variousvinyards. Staff very nice, all very well looked after, rooms spaciousand cleaned daily (Deluxe Double has plenty of space including easychair, tables etc), air con great and each room has some sort of outsideseating area. Quite private due to lay out of the rooms being the oldproperties, very well restored. Pool area lovely, plenty of beds, umbrellas, and covered areas. Pool very clean and furniture in goodcondition. Gardens and plants well kept. Breakfasts v good, plenty ofchoice. Dinner ok - maybe not quite as lovely as expected but still agood option for a night if don't want to drive into the nearby towns, and in July was taken outside on the covered terrace. All in all a goodoption - we got b&b 4 nights for 540 euros, which for everything we hadwas good value and good standard.
Review 93:nothing to mention
Review 94:wonderful location,
Review 95:the woman at the reception was very unfriendly and arrogant
Review 96:very nice accomodation, excellent food, friendly staff in restaurant and wine boutique
Review 97:Very relaxing. Excellent wine tasting included with stay.
Review 98:No bath, wifi would not work in room
Review 99:Staff,atmosphere
Review 100:Food could have been better.
Review 101:Surroundings, location, silence
Review 102:It's a really nice place.
Review 103:Fantastic location. All staff were excellent and we loved the meal we had and also the wine tasting
