Reviews for Hotel Giò Wine e Jazz Area
Review 1:Nothing.
Review 2:The room is so big! We stayed in an economy room in the Wine area and it was so spacious and comfy! I loved it. The furniture and decorations are all inspired to wine. We found it funny and amusing, very peculiar. The Wine area is connected to the main building (reception + Jazz area) by an undergound tunnel that is heated and decorated as well. Very convenient during winter time. Breakfast was awesome! Plenty of fresh and local products, and also a gluten free area. Staff was nice and helped us planning our stay. Perugia's center can be reached walking. Yes, it is a steep walk but manageable. I would definitely recommend this structure.
Review 3:Breakfast, while well (almost pretentiously) displayed was just barely average. Espresso was from a Keurig-like cartridge. The only capachino available was from a machine that used powdered milk (and proud enough of it to post a sign). The croissants were from a factory. Their poorly coded WiFi interface would not connect to my Kindle. And the help was clueless about it. The building's bricks were softer than the bed. A week later my shoulder is still sore from having slept on it. The room decor was all empty wine bottles and wine barrel staves tortured into furniture (e.g. chairs, coat racks, headboards, etc.). Some thought it downright creepy. It did add an abandoned wino's camp vibe to the ambiance.
Review 4:The room was spacious and all the plumbing still worked; even the jetted tub which was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. It had elevators and close parking.
Review 5:80s style, rooms could be refreshed but still very comfortable. Wi-fi connection is horrible to log in to - separate complicated log in and password for each device and need to type in this annoying combination every 8 hours, but once logged in it works OK. The area is out of the historical centre and not very attractive but not dodgy either.
Review 6:Got upgraded to a higher category room ; close to the city centre, OK to walk back (20 minutes steep downhill) and easy mini-metro ride to get there, ample free parking is perfect. The hotel lacks a bit of charm and is huge but very functional and pleasant, good breakfast choice.
Review 7:No.
Review 8:Location close to downtown, very nice hotel with very good breakfast and facilities and the wine and jazz features make this hotel special. I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
Review 9:WiFi system was horrible. You were logged out all the time and checking in wasn't easy. We accepted an upgrade to a superior room. The information about the upgrade was a bit confusing. We thought we would get a bubble bath and a massage chair extra, but that wasn't the case. So for us the upgrade wasn't value for money.
Review 10:We loved the ambiance of this hotel and the location. It's pretty close to the historic scentre. Although it's close, don't expect an easy walk. The streets are steep. But for us, it was the best way to go there.
Review 11:No aircon at this time of year october
Review 12:Short walk to mini metro takes you to near centro places to eat nearby supermart also accomodation has jazz themes everywhere in rooms as well
Review 13:none
Review 14:The staff was very welcoming and kind, Breakfast was very good, big assortment The room is well equipped and comfort, the room service is very good. free parking
Review 15:No information whatsoever given at checkin. You only get your keys and the message that everything is indicated. Front desk (except one person) was completely unfriendly. The hotel is huge and quite a maze. You need to go up and down, changing elevators all the time. The place is actually a conference center. As a tourist you are not helped and you get the feeling you are not wanted. Far from city center. Long and unpleasant walk to minimetro.
Review 16:There is nothing to like in this hotel.
Review 17:Standard tourist class hotel which must have been good once. Dated decor, odd Jazz listening pods, good enough for a one night stay on the way to somewhere.
Review 18:Perugia historical centre is uphill (top), so it's a strong walk into town. First part is very step (about 500 meters). Than you can walk to the escalotors for an easier way uphill. Last part to get into town is very step as well. But worth it.
Review 19:Spacious (newly) renovated room in the wine-area. Room was very big. Bed is ok, good shower. Breakfast is excellent, big variety of food and fruits. Quiet location outside the historical centre. Short but heavy walk into town. Free (big) parking. Swimming pool on the roof of the Jazz-area building is small but nice and relax.
Review 20:check out was done at 6 am in the morning with an unpleasant guy from reception who ask me to pay for breakfast.i told him that the breakfast was included in the price i paid in check in.After he ask me to pay extra 6 euros for taxes.i told him that i already paid everything in check in.hopefully i keep my receip of payment.after he let me to leave hotel.i really did not appreciat this reception guy who was behaving non professionnal and just this feeling that he want to take extra money from me.
Review 21:the room is comfortable with very high quality of furniture perfect wifi connection pleasant swimming pool with nice view on top i loved the design of hotel in the theme of wine & jazz & chocolat check in was done with a very nice pleasant reception team
Review 22:nothing
Review 23:A well run hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Although we are not jazz fans, we thought that the jazz theme was terrific. The hotel had obviously gone to a lot of expense to make it different. Secure undercover parking
Review 24:The pool is very small, smaller than on the picture. Our "superior" room was very small. Thin walls, you hear the upstairs tube's noises. Overpriced
Review 25:Abundant continental breakfast.
Review 26:Our room faced a gas station. The rooftop pool is small and bare. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable.
Review 27:The Jacuzzi in our room was definitely a plus. The room was quite spacious and clean. At breakfast there was a wide choice of food and beverages.
Review 28:Looking at the photos you get an opinion that it is a totally modern and new hotel, but as far as I saw it, it was an older place who had some part refurbished. Like for example, the elevator and corridors leading to our room looked like they were built in the 80's, but the room was beautiful and new.
Review 29:Pretty good location not far away from the old city centre but not on foot. Rooms were nice and big, breakfast was ample.
Review 30:Amazing value for money. Some reviews we had read before booking suggested unhelpful staff, but we found quite the opposite. Historic town centre is only 15 minutes walk away and reception gave good directions on how to get there via the escalator, which helps a lot as it's a long way up. A lot of parking. Coffee and wine at the reception bar is good and cheap.
Review 31:Hotel could have a better pool , additional bar, but the top floor pool was adequate for a cool down and great views over some of the district, although a bit crowded as more a rooftop affair. The Hotel would benefit from a larger outdoor pool and bar area on the land available on the ground area.
Review 32:Excellent staff. Hotel restaurant and superb breakfasts with Italian food and delicious cakes croissants and chocolate deserts.
Review 33:The restaurant rather disappointed me. Few half bottles of wine, despite being publicised for its wines.
Review 34:I liked the shuttle into the historic town centre, however, it would have been useful if it had a shuttle in the morning, as well as the evening. tth mini metro is not far, but in great heat, it is not nice to have to walk back uphill.
Review 35:I ask for 2 adjacent rooms...or at least near each other..they gave us rooms that are in the same floor but one room is on the last part of the corridor and the other room is on the opposite part of the corridor.
Review 36:Location is good...easy to find. Staff are friendly.
Review 37:Everything!! We came for the Umbria Jazz fest, they have a shuttle busto bring you back and forth, the breakfast was "AWESOME".Looking forward to returning next year with friends.
Review 38:The only thing that might be improved is wardrobes, it would be fine to install normal wardrobes instead of making it out of curtains. And it is far from the centre.
Review 39:We liked the hotel very much, the pictures in booking com correspond to the reality. The hotel is very modern, thematic, with original ideas, like a jazz player on the wall in the room. There is a jacuzzi. The personnel is very friendly, speaks good English. We extremely liked Andrea who cleaned our room. The breakfast is very nice, but may be just a little too much pastry. The swimming pool on the roof is very good, open all night long, a very good idea after a long warm tourist walking day in the city. Those who choose the hotel must be prepared that it is REALLY far from the centre, but it is situated in a nice green area that fills with fresh summer smells in the evening. Besides, the mini metro in Prugia works very well and is open till late at night so it makes it no problem to get to the centre. If you choose to walk it takes 15-20 mins, uphill. In a way it may be even better to stay at this large and spacious and modern hotel, than in some small and stuffy one in the centre, surrounded by the warm stones of the city, especially in summer. We visited Perugia during the jazz festival and this event made our visit special even though we are no fan of jazz in particular. All the city is full of people, music, light, shops are open till late at night.
Review 40:Process for getting personal items laundered was unclear and needs to be better organised than taking your dirty items to reception! Also the pool area was not clean. There was something very nasty there that remained for the whole of our 16 day stay!!! The pool itself was clean though. More info re the shuttle bus available to and from the airport would also be helpful
Review 41:Excellent hotel great location and friendly helpful staff. The best breakfast we have ever had in an Italian hotel supported by super efficient helpful staff in the dining room+++++. We were there for jazz week and they coped with large numbers of people incredibly well. Loved the quirky jazz theme. We didn't use the dining room but it looked very nice. Very near to the hotel was a lovely coffee shop/cafe and ice cream parlour, supermarket and hairdresser. A traditional Italian Bar/Restaurant was also very near which we used a lot along with the locals who were very friendly. All in all a great place to stay. Would definitely use it again.
Review 42:A bit aside, you have to walk uphill to get there or to get from the hotel to the old town (however, a stroll back is easy ;=)
Review 43:''Jazz-theme'' hotel. For a jazz lover and during the Umbria Jazz Festival this is definitely a place to stay. Superb breakfast.
Review 44:only one reception desk doubling up as drinks bar for what is in effect two separate hotels, zero welcome on arrival with no indications or help on how to get to room, which is to all intents and purposes a maze requiring two lifts and a connecting passage, with communication corridor
Review 45:swimming pool, jazz theme
Review 46:Bathroom had no shower, just a bath. Was spoken to with utter disdain by the reception staff for enquiring why this wasn't made clear in the room description. First hotel I've stayed in in decades that didn't have a shower of some sort, felt like a trip back to the 1970s. And not in a fun way. Tired old out-of-town business hotel building with a laughable 'jazz' makeover to try to hide this. Uncomfortable bed, two singles pushed together into a 'double'. My advice would be to avoid this hotel if you are a leisure traveller.
Review 47:Location was good for the Case Bruciate Mini Metro station, although no mention of this was made by the hotel. Covered parking garage was spacious. Staff did offer to move me to another room the next day, but not without making me feel I was causing them huge inconvenience. I didn't bother taking them up on it, as only had one more night and just wanted to get out of there.
Review 48:The jazz and wine theme is carried throughout the complex. Everything from the room key to the art on the walls. It's quite unique and gives the place a fun vibe.
Review 49:The location was great. Very close to mini metro to get us into city centre. The hotel has a jazz and wine theme and looks very nice. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast was a very good Buffett. The best breakfast in all our travel in Italy.
Review 50:It was confusing with two different hotels in the same property as we were trying to access our room but wrong end of hotel. We did not realise this hotel was so far out of main town but we chose because we wanted parking. Only one night stay so okay.
Review 51:The hotel was very good, clean and friendly staff, good breakfast and massage chair a bonus. The restaurant for lunch was wonderful - would recommend the rabbit.
Review 52:- Breakfast - everything was ready made - No fresh fruits, had to pay for scrambled eggs - Location - Far from Train Station if you don't have own conveyance as buses run every hr. - Locker didn't work
Review 53:- Wifi was ok although you have to request a new code for every device. - Bed was just ok was well - Room size was good and was clean
Review 54:nothing. Everything was satisfactory.
Review 55:The hotel disgnes very nicely. the staff were nice although didn't talk english very well. The breakfast is magnificiant and variety. the lication is a bit far from center but the minimetro station us close and in 2 stations you are in the center. Wonderful and recommended hotel.
Review 56:The common areas have been renovated and look pretty decent but when it comes to the rooms (we booked a superior in the jazz area), it was clear that nothing has been changed for many years despite some small decorations. Everything in the room was old, tired and dusty with furniture, curtains and doors belonging to the 60's. Unfortunately, adding 2 nice drawings on the bed is not making a room comfortable.
Review 57:Breakfast with ample choice of food The hotel hall with some modern art pieces Close to the minimetro
Review 58:Stylish and fun. Like the message chair in the room! Great parking and 15 minute walk from the old town. Breakfast was great (we only stayed one night and ate out in the evening).
Review 59:We liked having a pool on the rooftop - refreshing in the evening during the hot days. Reception service was helpful when asked but help was not offered. Not enthusiastic with local knowledge. A mini Metro stop - Case Bruciate - is 5mins walk away - this info would have been welcomed as an alternative method of approaching the old town; but the info was not offered. Visit Perugia during July's Umbria Jazz festival, it brings a wonderful vibrancy to the town.
Review 60:Staff not overly helpful. Taxi to city centre needed, but this probably the case for most hotels in Perugia.
Review 61:The jazz themes in decor etc. Room comfortable and clean. Evening meal in restaurant very good.
Review 62:We stayed in early June and the advertised pool was not filled with the hotel claiming it was out of season. They were quite rude when we expressed our displeasure that we had been wrongly advised
Review 63:Very nice place to stay
Review 64:The breakfast is 5 star. Chocolate everywhere. Delicious!! The cd in the room is a nice idea.
Review 65:The concept of the hotel and all the care for details, including music.
Review 66:Liked the Jazz, wine and chocolate theme to the hotel. Good dinner and breakfast. Easy parking, spacious hotel.
Review 67:Room a little run down, carpet tired
Review 68:Friendly staff and location
Review 69:The restaurant, very professional staff. And relaxed atmospheer.
Review 70:Loved concert
Review 71:Nothing
Review 72:Excellent stay beautiful city
Review 73:Hotel was very clean and staff was wonderful! Dinner at the restaurant was very good.
Review 74:Breakfast,size of room, was like an apartment!
Review 75:The breakfast was included and was the best by far of any of the places we stayed at on our North Italy vacation.
Review 76:nice people, good bed, quirky, walls a bit thin
Review 77:Quirky hotel . Easy to find and well located within walking distance of the centre. Loads of free parking. Great value for money
Review 78:We like everything!
Review 79:Fantastic hotel, excellent place, great idea
Review 80:Large comfortable bedroom. Wonderful choice for breakfast
Review 81:Great selection for breakfast, lovely swimming pool, helpful reception staff
Review 82:I loved the massage chair. The room was excellent value for money. A bit of a stroll from the mini metro, ax 10 min.
Review 83:Everything. Staff was very helpful in finding malls, shuttle to and from the concert venue, the hotel theme. Awesome stay!
Review 84:Location a bit off, decent pool area
Review 85:All good
Review 86:The pool, not so far from center, calm, comfy room.
Review 87:Roof top pool. Proximity to Perugia
Review 88:Atmosphere is absolutely great! Highly recommended!
Review 89:Leaking toilet
Review 90:Genarally really great high quality place
Review 91:Themed Hotel throughout including the rooms. Lovely surprise and decor was amazing.
Review 92:Uncomfortable bed mattress, smelly bathroom
Review 93:CD Player on the wall in the room with a jazz cd.
Review 94:Nice roof top pool, good air-con in rooms, it takes about 20m to walk to town centre up steep hill, or there is a courtesy bus service.
Review 95:coffee facilities in the room would add a nicer touch and towel at the roof pool.
Review 96:Fun hotel, very cool, clean and spacious
Review 97:mothing less than exellent
Review 98:in this hotel you get like 5 stars hotel only a little beat smoller.
Review 99:It was a lovely stay at the hotel. The room is big, nice music player on the wall and massage chair. Excellent breakfast!
Review 100:Not so nice staff
Review 101:Good location (20 min walk to the city center) Good breakfast
Review 102:Spacious, with a jazzy touch.
Review 103:Wifi was slow. Reception was not particularly helpful
Review 104:Reasonably close to town and price was good, room was adequate but tired
Review 105:Very nice hotel. Not centrally located, but a good place from where to explore. We enjoyed their restaurant. Great parking facilities.
Review 106:Spacious comfortable room. Great restaurant with lovely server. On site parking. We would definitely return!
Review 107:Everything
Review 108:Close to everything. Very new and modern. Large room. Great staff and easy to find.
Review 109:This was a very odd hotel. It is really 2 hotels, Geo Jazz and Geo Wine. The decor is very kitchy in both. Also the use of space in the reception areas was odd. The staff was not helpful at all. We were not told anthing about the area or that there was a mini-metro that could take us up to the old center. Kind strangers we met helped us with finding both the metro and the locatons of escalators. Jazz does not have a dining room but Wine does. The hotels appear to cater to large groups. The menu was limited but the food was ok.
Review 110:The room was a good size and the window opened. Breakfast was ok. The bed was ok. Free parking.
Review 111:There's no sign at the front of the hotel...nice big brick wall toput one on. Our gps took us right there, but it took some time torealise we had really arrived. We have struck this a bit inItaly....stick up some signs, people.
Review 112:A slightly quirky hotel with it's Jazz theme. BreakfastOK....getting used to the "cake"thing by now in our travels. Ashort walk to the cute little mini shuttle (a driverless pod that runson rails into the town....great). Don't try and drive into town...wedid and were glad to get the car back to the hotel. Perugia is a mustsee. WiFi good and free
Review 113:Walking up hill from the mini-metro back to hotel.
Review 114:Very friendly staff, close to the mini-metro which takes you quickly to the top of the city, Not much of a restaurant, but good breakfast, Excellent restaurant on top of city, Del Sole (a must try)
Review 115:The decor of the room would have been more welcoming but had all the things one needs nevertheless.
Review 116:We quite liked the hotel, had all the things you need for a reasonable money. Breakfast was very good. The shuttle bus was very handy. Parking was plenty and free. I would recommend to everyone.
