Kuldigas Metropole

Kuldigas Metropole descritpion
This newly renovated hotel is located in the very heart of the beautiful and romantic historic quarter of Kuldiga.
Kuldigas Metropole has been a hotel and restaurant since 1910. There is a garden terrace open during the summer season. The cozy rooms have a view of a pedestrian street or the river.
The town’s attractions are only a few steps away from the Kuldigas Metropole. These include Ventas Rumba, the widest waterfall in Europe, the longest brick bridge in Europe, the narrow streets in the historic quarter, and the pretty historic houses with their red-tile roofs.

Reviews for Kuldigas Metropole
Review 1:Nice central location. We had a 2-storey-room wit rooftop window view to the main pedestrian street. Breakfast fresh, basic but porridge and omelett etc. delivered fresh by order (included).
Review 2:Kuldiga is a very compact town so anywhere you stay would put you within walking distance of the sights and attractions. That said, the Metropole is right on the town square at the intersection of two streets. The room I had was quaint and comfortable. Breakfast was made up of two components: a small buffet selection of cereal, cheeses, fruit etc and a cook-to-order hot dish. I had breakfast on two mornings and tried the omelette one day and crepes the other. Both were good. Ate dinner once at the restaurant and found the food delicious too.
Review 3:toiletries-it was a little bit difficult to open packet of shower gel with wet hands, shampoo should be in my opinion in bottles, but it was a minor problem
Review 4:breakfest, dinner at the restorant was very tasteful, location in the center of old down , nice personnel,it was our second stay in this hotel and we highly recommend it
Review 5:Everything was very reasonable for the price.
Review 6:The hotel is perfectly located in Kuldiga. We had one of the family rooms which was quite big and great for the price. Bathroom was big and clean. We only stayed 1 night and thought the stay was very reasonable and well priced.
Review 7:Breakfast is very limited, but what is available of good quality.
Review 8:Good location, Relatively cheap. Perfect place to stay of you travel across Western Latvia.
Review 9:- strange modern windows in the room at the back of the hotel. - not many channels on tv and location of tv was too far from the bed. - room 311 needs another mirror (other than the one in the bathroom).
Review 10:Breakfast - nice relaxing music (Louis Armstrong) and nice choice of food. However, a toaster would have been good. Room was very clean and comfortable. Friendly and efficient staff. Would stay again, but only at the front of the hotel.
Review 11:My room had skylights and I was unable to close the shade covering them so the full moon caused the room to be very bright at night.
Review 12:Perfect location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and terrific water pressure in shower. It was a very pleasant stay!
Review 13:1) synthetic and not breathable blankets; 2) poor choice by breakfast; 3) We was shocked that out reservation in the hotel restaurant was cancelled just 30 minutes before our guests arrived. The reason was silly and our evening was spoiled. Because there was no other places in Kuldiga to have a dinner in the evening of Christmas. So, our children didn't have normal dinner in the evening; 4) loungery room on the 3rd floor - next to our room, leaving smell in all the floor.
Review 14:Location is perfect. We met truly good and helpful administrator at the reception Laura, she helped a lot to make us feel comfortable and well rested.
Review 15:If used for business purpose, a table is missing
Review 16:Very friendly Restaurant staff, try the home made cranberry sorbet! Back yard room was nice & quiet.
Review 17:Trying to find the driveway to the parking area. Missed it the first time and spent the next ten minutes driving around the little town trying to find the hotel again. (Many one way streets)
Review 18:Kristine at the front desk very helpful during our stay. Very nice breakfast selection. Comfortable bed and pillows in a lovely yellow room with two skylights and a small window. Not large but comfortable. Bathroom small but complete.
Review 19:An architect who designed our floor was creative but cruel :) Our room had two levels. Making a bedroom and a bathroom at two different floors - this is something :) Otherwise - it's a great place
Review 20:The hotel is renovated with very good quality. The staff is helpful and friendly. A suggestion - more languages would make it better. One of the greatest value/$ places.
Review 21:We really loved how the hotel was in the main part of the city. It was so easy to walk to where we needed to go. We also liked that there was secure parking. The room was great and had everything we needed.
Review 22:Air conditioner is out of order but we can not change the room because the staff said they are fully booked. We need to open the window so many Mosquitos . Furthermore, spiderweb can be seen around the window.
Review 23:The airco was not working, but a fan was provided.
Review 24:We appreciated the cosy family room with quite some space and even coloring material for our daughter. The hotel is very centrally located and the private parking is also very practical.
Review 25:The furniture is all Ikea, beds included, and beds are not confortable at all. There were no curtains on some windows, therefore we had a lot of light, difficult to sleep.
Review 26:The location was perfect, although Kuldiga is so small. The bar outside is quite nice
Review 27:- broken air conditioning in our room and loud air conditioning (?) at the outside of the restaurant
Review 28:- friendly staff - city center - good value - good restaurant - parking right behind the hotel
Review 29:Airconditioning did not work. Weekend nights nice from the town-square-bar (open till 03). Other nights OK.
Review 30:good WIFI, nice breakfast, friendly staff and nive rooms. Excellent location.
Review 31:Don't get a two storey room if you have mobility problems, as the bathroom & toilet are downstairs, via spiral staircase.
Review 32:Location. Right on the town square, everything easy access. Walking distance to bus station. Clean, comfortable, good breakfast. Great hotel.
Review 33:All very good
Review 34:Nice friendly staff and hotel facilities good - clean and food and facilities at hotel good - good location near centre of the town - just one small issue and that relates to TV limited channels but not problem
Review 35:serious problem with a.c. (!!!) inconvenient room layout: placement of outlets, light switches, etc. Eccentricity is charming but not helpful.
Review 36:location professionalism/helpfulness breakfast & bar
Review 37:thin walls, sounds from the next room

Review 43:the location is perfect
Review 44:Awful neighbors, impossible to sleep till 3am.
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:Food excellent, large room
Review 47:Room, location, staff
Review 48:breakfast is a bit limited not easy to close the curtains in the rooms under the roof
Review 49:location helpful staff
Review 50:Room ventilation should be improved. It got very stuffy and hot after few hours.

Review 54:Tumsais - dark ale - on sale in the bar Spacious. Clearly an important hotel in the town's history Godd service
Review 55:poor quality of breakfast, very slow service in the restaurant, severely outdated TV
Review 56:location
Review 57:A goog hotel in a very speacial town. Recomended
Review 58:Good location - old city, near waterfall, Kuldiga's park. Friendly staff. Big, comfortable room.

Review 60:IN THE ROOM THERE IS A WINDOW OF THE SILING LIGHT ALL DAY
Review 61:GOOD HOTEL
Review 62:Location in the town and the personal. Trying to reach a good European level.
Review 63:No curtains on windows let light in
Review 64:Good location
Review 65:Small breakfast, normal room , but noicy in the morning.
Review 66:Best hotel in region you can get and i you have to stay there. Very reasonable price. Stayed there to see friends. Nice town , but a lot of work to make it a touristic attraction.
Review 67:- Poor sound isolation in the Lux room. If one pays twice the money for the most expensive room, listening to constant noises of people walking in the hallways is not what one would expect. - Could not get the jacuzzi bath tub to work.
Review 68:Excellent location, clean, good breakfast. Very decent overall.
Review 69:Personnel seemed to be too familiar, gathering and chatting together in bar or reception area. I understand that it's low season and there are few guests in the hotel, but still..Otherwise everything was perfect.
Review 70:Room was clean and very nice, for the price just perfect!
Review 71:Perhaps they were just shy, but a few of the staff members could be a bit more welcoming. Not really a criticism, just a suggestion.
Review 72:The hotel was very good, felt like an authentic hotel, not a touristy place. Dinner in the dining room was excellent at a reasonable price.
Review 73:Nothing to write about but a little minus that has got nothing to do with the hotel were the roadworks outside which made access a bit hard but this is only temporary...
Review 74:We loved our stay att Kuldigas Metropole and the staff was excellent in every aspect, nice clean rooms and the hotel is perfectly situated in the old town with everything within walking distance, highly recommended!
Review 75:- some noisy people in the room next door. you could hear everything.
Review 76:+ nice, modern Hotel + friendly staff + good breakfast - on the second day there where few people, so they asked for my wishes :-)
Review 77:The lift was weird, it had 9 buttons, but only 3 floors. I never dared press 9, just in case we went shooting out the roof !!!
Review 78:We loved this hotel, probably our favourite of the 11 we stayed in in our two week trip in the Baltic. Right in the centre of a lovely little town that the rest of the world hasn't yet discovered. Some of the roads are still being constructed, but the landscaped park and the wide river with waterfall and bridge that it overlooks are lovely. the hotel itself is superb, it does look a little bit old on the outside, but is extremely smart, clean and comfortable inside. Our room was huge, more than enough room for the 3 of us. Dinner was delicious and was very reasonably priced as was the room itself. From our dinner table we had a nice view up the main street of the town. Parking is right in front of the hotel. Kuldiga is a small town off the beaten track and we loved it - a nice place to start for an exploration of the Kurzeme coast to the north.
Review 79:Maybe breakfast is not bad, but the bartender failing to ensure that the food would be. Had to ask for everything to complement. (We had breakfast at 8:30). The room was missing towels. Poor ventilation of bathrooms.
Review 80:A good place to explore the city. Pleasant room. Were children's toys.
Review 81:rooms on two level are not really comfortable for business travellers, no desk for working
Review 82:Courtesy at reception, big rooms, restaurant serves tasty specialties, very close to the waterfall, nice walk through the gardens
Review 83:Layout of the mezzanine type room could be improved. Beds only up a wobbly spiral staircase.
Review 84:Great location, nicest place to stay in the region. Food in the restaurant was excellent.
Review 85:- as mentioned by other visitors: you can open just a small window in your hotel room. the two other windows are unreachable.
Review 86:- very friendly staff - fast wlan for skyping etc. - a place for our bikes next to the lobby
Review 87:I was noisy during the night. We lived at the courtyard side, however some people outside talked loudly until 3 am. Unfortunately it was not possible to identify who was disturbing us.
Review 88:Excellent location. Big room for family. Good breakfast. Free parking opportunity.
Review 89:The Metropole is a good quality hotel located at the foot of the mainstreet of Kuldiga's old town, an easy walk from the bus station andcentral to all the major tourist sites and restaurants. We had acomfortable and enjoyable stay. Kuldiga is a beautiful little place andthe hotel makes an excellent base for exploring it.
Review 90:Loved the whole package! Staff, room, restaurant and location! We stayed one night and only spent a leisurely afternoon walking around the town and by the river. Not a whole lot to do or see, so if you are a Contiki style tourist - keep away! The town and surrounding coutryside are both pretty and it is truly relaxing. We both loved the town and especially the hotel.
Review 91:I liked everything: comfortable, clean and modern room with lot of space and light, friendly staff, great breakfast, convenient location. Free parking. Great place to stay!
Review 92:Stuffy rooms, few small windows, two storeys, no sink near fridge and hot water jug. Had to climb upstairs.
Review 93:Excellent location good parking.
Review 94:location, room with skylights, restaurant, staff
Review 95:Wonderful historic hotel
Review 96:The air-exhaust system is as noisy as a Boing 747 during take-off when sitting outside on the veranda.
Review 97:staff is the best. breakfast more than perfect.
Review 98:Ideal inexpensive hotel in lovely town
Review 99:no option to open window in room

Review 109:Large rooms, nice location in city center and easy to walk around, good restaurant with outdoor seating
Review 110:Not much to do in Kuldiga. Very light in the room I had so not that easy to sleep.
Review 111:Clean, friendly staff, great terrace and nice food.
