Reviews for Agriturismo Bannata
Review 1:Since we like to read in bed at night, we found that the lighting wasn't sufficient for us to do this, but since we were spending only one night there, it wasn't an issue.
Review 2:Our reason for choosing Agriturismo Bannata was its proximity to the Villa Romana del Casale, which had been recommended to us and which possesses some of the loveliest mosaics to be seen, and because it sounded like a very interesting agriturismo, and it was. It is a beautiful building set in the midst of huge acreage, and is a perfect place for spending several days - we would have liked to have stayed much longer, and were sorry for not having planned our trip to do so. We had dinner there, which was outstanding, all with products grown on the property, and with many wines from which to choose. I would definitely recommend this place, but for a longer stay than we had.
Review 3:Could be tricky to find in the dark - though the directions were excellent
Review 4:Friendliness of Mario who made us feel extremely welcome and special. Interesting rooms - lovely pool. Good value. An excellent place to use as a base if visiting the mosaics near Piazza Armerina (which are amazing)
Review 5:My husband and I stayed here after visiting the Roman Villa and really enjoyed it. A charming old house, very well converted for guests, lovely pool, peaceful surroundings and very friendly and attentive staff. The dinner was 'typical', huge quantities and lots of calories! A pleasant sojourn indeed.
Review 6:I didn't like to leave the place
Review 7:Very nice place, beatifull garden;wanderfull hospitality Adriana and Mario were extremely nice and helpful. Thank you!!
Review 8:we fell in love with this small scale agriturismo (9 beds) in well renovated historic farm with stylish antique furniture, modern bathrooms and long modern pool in a quiet area close to Piazza Armerina. The sympathetic couple running the agriturismo made our stay a very memorable one and we will surely return in future!
Review 9:Very close to Piazza Armerina, a beautiful palace sorrounded by green. Rooms are a little bit old, but nice to stay, and the toilet is comfortable as well. Dinner was excellent, as well as breakfast. The staff was very nice and ready to help and suggest places to be visited. Overall recommended
Review 10:Fresh veggies for dinner.
Review 11:Beautiful gardens. Nicely furnished rooms. Bathrooms well equipped with amazing showers. Large pool with comfortable lounges. Charming hosts, especially Mario.
Review 12:Would be great to have an espresso or coffee machine available.
Review 13:Rural, quiet, peaceful setting--Almost like sleeping in a park or botanical garden. Ideal setting to help you unwind from life's stresses.
Review 14:The staff was really warm, friendly, available and helpful ! The food was also amazing, we had so much to eat but we could not turn it down as it was so delicious ! I would definitely recommend to stay there for dinner ! And, more importantly the entire place has so much character - the old and stylish furniture, the antique objects and the way they renovated the building give a real charm to the place.
Review 15:The host couple were incredibly warm and helpful. The evening meal was delicious. The home is ancient but extremely well updated. There is great walking in the hills behind the property.
Review 16:We have been treated as we were part of a family. Genuine, tasteful and home made food was truly enjoyable. Children love to run around and explore with the most sweet dog we ever met. We strongly suggest to stay at Bannata for a few days to experience a great hospitality and sicilian food. It is a perfect place not only for families but also for couples, singles and bunch of friends.
Review 17:Nobody spoke English
Review 18:The hosts were very nice and friendly. The apartment fully came up to our expectations. It was pretty, clean, comfortable and had specyfic artistic atmosphere. Good location, very close to the city and Villa Casa Romana.
Review 19:Welcome by Reden and Obalbo the dog. . Breakfasts were really great although I could have used a cafe latte instead of a french press with hot milk. ( but it was well done... again by Reden) Great room with heated tile bath. Did I say that Reden was a great host?
Review 20:Only thing that we wished we would have had is some WiFi.
Review 21:Definitely a break from the everyday, this quiet agiturismo is a breath of fresh air. Free parking, superb breakfast, and a beautiful property, this place is great. The open space made traveling with 2 large dogs a breeze and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Close enough to Piazza Armerina to enjoy the town, it's far enough away that travelers don't need to worry about the city bustle.
Review 22:The food lacks the Sicilian flavour............ very disappointed otherwise 10 points!
Review 23:The place, the rooms, is heaven on earth! Beautiful countryside all around.......... so peaceful and the rooms were so comfortable. Redent looked after us well
Review 24:Because it is in the countryside about five miles from Piazza Armerina, it can be a bit hard to find. The restaurant is only open if you book ahead and there are enough diners to make it worthwhile. Otherwise, you will have to drive back into the town which, after a day of driving, you may be reluctant to do.
Review 25:I love this place. I have stayed there twice and would stay again. Originally a big old farmhouse estate, it has been adapted with elegance and taste, furnished with antiques and some of the implements that must have been part of the old place. The grounds are extensive, there is a lovely swimming pool and the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Because we could not face driving back into the town for dinner, the manager very kindly made us an omelette and a salad. Not strictly part of the service, but a lovely gesture. A delightful place to stay.
Review 26:Nothing!
Review 27:If you are looking for for all modern conveniences such as wifi and a TV in your room, this is not for you. But if you understand that this a lovingly restored farmhouse that is some 300 years old, and you enjoy a sense of history and the tranquility of the countryside, this IS the place for you. We slept so well, away from the noise of the bigger towns. The situation is ideal for visiting Villa Casale, which for us was a highlight of our 7 weeks in Italy, also the museum in Aidone and the excavations at Morgantina. We also did a day trip to Agrigento. We ate 1 night at the local restaurant with the reputation, but found it didn't live up to the hype. The dinner we had at Bannata was delicious, and less than half the price. The best ingredients, straightforward recipes, excellent. Like most people we missed the entrance, coming from Enna, Agriturismo Bannata is on your left, but the major sign for it is on your right, and it says Masseria Bannata. If you get to an Agip Eni petrol station on your right, you have gone too far! Turn round, drive back about 400 metres and keep looking for the big sign, now on your left, that points to the driveway. The proprietor was charming, the staff very helpful. Overall, couldn't fault, great value for money!
Review 28:We had a great stay here, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and beautifull room with antique furniture. Good breakfast (although mainly sweet) and good dinner in the evening. Swimming pool area was also very nice. We can absolutely recommend this place!
Review 29:I can't think of anything!
Review 30:In september we stayed two nights in Agriturismo Bannata, and we can only say that is was fabulous! Beautiful accomodation with very nice breakfast and dinner. the staf is very friendly and helpfull to make your stay unforgetable. Spoken languages: Italian, english, french and if I'm correct also german. If you want to relax near a swimmingpool, this is the place to be. Piazza Armerina with nice restaurants is only 10/15 minutes by car. Also good location for visiting 'Villa Romana del Casale'.
Review 31:The grounds of the property are a little run down. Definitely no farming. Just some herbs like I have at home. Dinner was mediocre.
Review 32:Rooms were nice and atmospheric.
Review 33:No wifi connection Dinner good but not exceptional (simple fresh products) Pool is nice but snack bar closed
Review 34:Breakfast was excellent (fruits from the farm, nuts, marmelades, coffee and tea, homemade bread and biscuits etc.) People working there were very helpful and friendly! The place was beautiful with lots of flowers. The rooms are all nicely kept with a mix of old and new furniture. We also had dinner there for 28euros/person. The wine (not included) was excellent and the food though very good lacked coherence. It's not a meal but rather lots of different preparations in little plates. Every little dish was excellent + large quantities but not a coherent meal. Pastas were not homemade. Dessert was good but a bit simple (apricot tart).
Review 35:The entrance to the farm is very easy to miss as the sign post comes very late. It would also be helpful to know when booking that the restaurant is available only if there is minimum number of people eating.
Review 36:The location was wonderful - very restful and beautiful. The breakfast was excellent with local produce and attention to detail. Our stay was made by the kindness of the staff! The bedrooms were great and the farmhouse as a whole was extremely well maintained and full of interesting corners. Overall we had a great time.
Review 37:Great character
Review 38:Very warm welcome and helpful staff.
Review 39:Food Excellent !!!
Review 40:The central location in Sicily
Review 41:Great place. We loved it very much
Review 42:Rather gloomy room.
Review 43:Beautiful surroundings, lovely pool, choice of fruit and pastries for breakfast, and excellent reception. An exceptional place.
Review 44:Rooms are beautifully renovated. Peaceful and quiet surroundings. Very friendly host and hostess. Marvellous dinner. Bellissimo!
Review 45:price of dinner and wine
Review 46:The staff were lovely and very hospitable but it's a no frills place.
Review 47:The location, diner made by Adriana and served by Mario, both very sweet people
Review 48:missed comfy place to sit outdoors, missed outdoors breakfast,
Review 49:countryside, quiet
Review 50:Visit to Villa Romana
Review 51:That we couldn't stay longer
Review 52:Beautiful rooms, farm and environment. Great hospitality
Review 53:Nothing :)
Review 54:The history of the farm and the sicilian food and the country side. Our aim was achived total relaxation.
Review 55:Expensive. Food pricey but poor.
Review 56:Beautiful position.
Review 57:Hard to find the farm, especially at night. No dinner arrangement so we had to go back into town to eat.
Review 58:The surroundings and the old farmhouse were lovely as was the owner. The breakfast was good wit lots of local stuff.
Review 59:The breakfast was beautifully presented and was lovely, but could have done with some cheese, meat, egg (protein!) to make it a little more substantial!
Review 60:What a beautiful property! Great to get away from it all (although being there in the off season means it is very very quiet!). Gorgeous décor and bath!
Review 61:I have read that some people complained about the rooms not having a sofa or armchairs to relax if there is bad weather. That is true, but it is also true that, if you don't mind leaving your bed-room, there are two small common areas where you do have sofas and an armchair.
Review 62:The staff was amazing: Irene, Reden and Ms. Nietta did everything to make me feel at home. I am a young woman, travelling on my own, and in Bannata I found exactly what I wanted for this part of my Sicilian vacation: peace and nature. Breakfast was very good: fruit, juice, cheese, ham, bread and pastries, good coffee, plus you can have some eggs from their own chicken - just ask! It was served outside, in a nice patio. The house has been renovated with very good taste, and it feels real: every bedroom is different, and a lot of the furniture is old family furniture. If you have a car, Bannata makes a good base to visit Piazza Armerina - a small but quiet and beautiful town with nice gelatto -, the Roman Villa of Casale and even Enna, although that is a bit further (I think around half an hour away). The property is big, and besdies the swimming pool, it has fruit-tree gardens, an herb-garden, chickens, ducks, and two friendly dogs that they keep chained when guests are afraid of them; since I love dogs, I asked them to let them free, so they payed me company :)
Review 63:nothing
Review 64:Strategic situated near Piazza Armerina and the villa Casale, in a masseria on a large estate with beautiful gardens, with well maintained rooms, well-supplied (with a swimming pool) and with a very friendly dedicated staff!
Review 65:if the weather was bad the room would lack cosiness and it lacked a fridge
Review 66:staff location enviroment a great breakfast brilliant shower
Review 67:Two pleasant (Phillipino perhaps?)handymen/cleaner/ breakfast providers doing their best. Italian owners only there briefly ,live elsewhere. Old dusty brochures 3 years out of date . Stale bread ,3rd attempt at fresh coffee , mean breakfasts. Windowless bedroom onto public walkway so if you wanted any light in through open doors had no privacy. We saw the owners just as we were leaving and they were apologetic and gave us 5 EU back for our breakfasts . But the hotel is a lot more expensive than the other 5 hotels we stayed at and it was the worst. Swimming pool not operational OK, but price should be adjusted accordingly.
Review 68:Exterior of buildings attractive.
Review 69:The setting (emphasizing the delight of the Sicilian early spring), the room (Clementina, with independent and delightfully effective heating, and a very comfortable bathroom), the dinner we were served (locally-produced and simple food, still very tasty), the kind availability of the staff who called us back to confirm to our delight that they would eventually be able to serve dinner (as we had initially requested, not being fully sure they would be able to).
Review 70:It misses somehow atmosphere.
Review 71:The house and the garden look very good. The personnel is friendly.
Review 72:Nothing
Review 73:The peple
Review 74:too expensive for what it is
Review 75:nice place and interesting experience.
