Reviews for Hodakaso Yamano Hotel

Review 1:The resort itself, while well maintained, looks and feels quite old. Couches at lobby have stains and some a little torn. The rooms feel old and overall amenities weren't terribly modern.

Review 2:The onset experience was quite wonderful. There are indoor, outdoor and public (but still feels private) onsens. The onsens aren't very big, so if there are more people it might get crowded during busy season.

Review 3:Be careful of the traffic if you are driving late.

Review 4:You probably can't find a similar outdoor hotspring environment provided by this hotel. Absolutely amazing.

Review 5:Only one towel both to be taken along to the onsen and used in your room.

Review 6:The different onsen were really special. Sitting outside in the onsen surrounded by forest covered in snow! Staff very friendly and helpfull, even though they know little english.

Review 7:1. The sofa at cafe is rather tired.... 2. No view to the Alpine from the Hotel Onsen pool. 3. Should upgrade the ourdoor pool that was at the foot hill.

Review 8:1. Helpful staff 2. Good Breakfast & Dinner 3. Onsen is very good

Review 9:No wifi at room

Review 10:Outside onsen with beautiful view is quick impressive. It will reommend my friends to go there. The hotel is closed to cable car to Takeyama mountain.

Review 11:As we were on a driving trip, we used the Hotel telno found on booking.com page to bring us to our destination via GPS. Unfortunately that telno was the hotel reservation telno in town & we drove all the way there! The hotel should show the actual location telno.

Review 12:The hotel is located near the Okuhida pass with beautiful scenery. The dinner was sumptuous!

Review 13:Hairdryer was too weak and the shower jet was also quite lacking in power. No issue for me though, I just went to the public bath where those were much better.

Review 14:Impeccable service. The staff greet you throughout your stay, wherever you bump into them as you move around the hotel premises. They are very willing to help, and they actually remember your room number and even food/drink preferences. Public bath and outdoor onsen are also really nice, and bath essentials are provided at the former. The meals are quite an experience - before you tuck in, it's very likely you'd sit back a bit to marvel at the display and the effort they put into the preparation.

Review 15:Wonderful hot spring.

Review 16:Staff couldn't speak English. No wifi at hotel except in lobby and even that was patchy.

Review 17:Outdoor Onsen was amazing

Review 18:Very good and big open air mix onsen

Review 19:The location is very far away

Review 20:too far from town.

Review 21:excellent Japanese dinner

Review 22:Wi-Fi very weak. The fireplace in the lobby gives out a lot of smoke, makes the lobby smells bad.

Review 23:The food tastes good.

Review 24:Food is not quite satified.

Review 25:Outdoor public bath.

Review 26:Scenery , food

Review 27:Open air spa. Good dinner. Good staff.

Review 28:You cannot fault with the food and the staff. They both exceed our expectations. Every dish served is an edible art piece. The staff are afraid that they don't help you enough. The spa is open 24 hours. They even have a free shuttle service in the morning to take hotel guest to the Shinotaka ropeway.

Review 29:The hotel is located far away up in a mountain and the phone number posted on the information is wrong! The phone number is a restaurant of the same group for handling booking of the hotel from overseas. That restaurant is 1.5 hours drive away from the hotel. If anybody try to use GPS to find the way to hotel, please use 0578-89-2004. In general, the place is ok but it is really far away and unexpectedly dirty in the room in Japanese standard. I am willing to pay more to stay in better locations.

Review 33:nothing

Review 36:Peacefull location in the mountains.
