Reviews for Hida Hotel Plaza

Review 1:Very old hotel badly needing a renovation beds were very uncomfortable definitely ot worth the price we paid for this hotel

Review 2:Easy to find find from rail station

Review 3:bed is extremely hard, like stone. the facility of the room and public bath are quite old. washlet was broken when we entered the room. the staff tried to fix it but still not stable.

Review 4:staff is professional location is not far away from the old town area as well as the convenient store. big parking lot.

Review 5:Even though I had a non smoking room, there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke...possibly from the ventilation system. This is not uncommon for Japanese Hotels where many people still smoke. The bed was hard. This is also common for a Japanese Hotel.

Review 6:Friendly , helpful staff.

Review 7:The hotel was dated, the staff were somewhat surly and the room was far too hot with no way of adjusting the temperature. The facilities in the room were shabby

Review 8:Takayama is an interesting town in the Japanese Alps

Review 9:The staff at the hotel cafe werent very pleasant which was strange because all the other staff were amazing .

Review 10:The onsen was fabulous. The location is perfect halfway between the train station and the main sites. The hotel staff were very good but their English was limited.

Review 11:The hotel and my room stunk of cigarettes, even though I had booked a non-smoking room. The room and furnishings were nothing like the picture advertised on the booking that I made, they were really old fashioned and in need of an upgrade. Overall very disappointed.

Review 12:The bed was really hard and by hard I don't mean firm. I almost felt like I was sleeping on the ground. My husband didn't mind it though.

Review 13:It's close to the train station. We used the onsen which was great. We hired the bikes from the hotel which made getting around town easier and a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Review 14:Room was smoky. We were going to eat in the café, but again, people (staff, I think) smoking in there, so unappetizing. A little further from train station than I'd hoped for.

Review 15:Nice onsen. Rooms were spacious. Several dining options and stores within the property.

Review 16:The only complaint we had, and we found it funny, was the elevators are a bit assertive...they like to close their doors quickly, so beware!

Review 17:Hotel is older style destination hotel, but with an excellent and friendly staff in a fairly recently upgraded building complex. Amenities were all about comfort and ease of travel. As Americans traveling for the first time to Japan, there were lots of new experiences and the staff and facilities consistently made it all a breeze. The in-house izukaya (small tavern) restaurant was great and accommodating when we came in late from watching the summer fireworks festival and the nightly futon set-up for our (college age) daughters was efficient and nicely done.

Review 18:The hotel is close to the JR station and the old part of Takayama. Our traditional room was spacious and the staff made us tea on arrival which was a lovely touch. They have several restaurants at the hotel which offer a variety of food at very good prices. Very clean and comfortable.

Review 19:Pool of hot spring is a little bitter old. Main entrance facing another street which next to station street so that we lost see real times.

Review 20:Excellent location only 5 minutes far away from railway station by walk. Friendly staffs. Provide hot spring . 5 minutes far from the Main Street.

Review 21:Nothing!

Review 22:Traveling with family of four from New York. Had room on fifth floor with a double twin for the adults and tatami room for the kids! It was like a Japanese suite! After this hotel stay We were so spoiled that no other hotel stay was good enough. That said id like to also mention the excellent customer service received from all the staff at this hotel. If you're visiting Takayama, this hotel is it. Location is excellent as well being only 2 blocks away.

Review 23:Room service...ordered the Hida beef skewers, and there were four piecesof meat on each skewer. Two of the four on each skewer was fat. No meat! The meat was delicious, but definitely not good value for the cost. Atein the French Restaurant my second night...the Hida steak was well worththe exorbitant price!

Review 24:Although I suspect that my booking was 'lost', the staff werediscreet in the checking, and placed me in a room which was a double, not the single room I had booked and paid for. The onson were wonderful.Nice to sit in a hot tub or spa looking at the stars. Nice full moonover Harvest Festival time. Staff were generous with their time, andadvice. Short walk from the terminal. I took the direct bus fromCentrair Airport to Takayama, saved the problems of taking a train intoNagoya and transferring. The am market is interesting as is Old Town asa whole. I did not get to any of the outlying attractions due to timerestraints. Nice weather...heading into autumn. Lovely clean city...lotsof flowers and again, very clean and tidy.
