Reviews for Hotel Fortuna
Review 1:Furniture and bathroom somewhat 'old and tired'.
Review 2:The location is great. Room was spacious, clean, and warm. Breakfast was good, though a few more savoury options would be nice.
Review 3:My room was tiny, and my bathroom kind of smelled like sewage. Still overall the good outweighed the bad though.
Review 4:Best freaking location right in the centre. Breakfast was included which was nice. Staff was friendly too.
Review 5:Third night different room - looked out onto hotel drain. Ridiculously cramped bathroom. Last morning most of the food ran out in the breakfast room.
Review 6:Excellent room first two nights with good bathroom.
Review 7:There is nothing we did not like..it was wonderful.
Review 8:The location was perfect only a few hundred feet from the Main Square. Our room was very comfortable plus we had a sitting area right outside of our room which gave us a place to do a little work on our computers... our room and this sitting also had access two wonderful outdoor patios with the most amazing views of Perugia. Our breakfast was you typical Continental Breakfast but in the morning your could smell the Croissants baking.. what a heavenly way to be awakened. I was also able to have Gluten Free rolls and rice cakes which made me very happy. Perugia is a wonderful hill town and when combined with this hotel we had the best time.
Review 9:Room was very nice with private balcony. The front desk staff was very helpful. The restaurant we planned to go to was closed that night so they made an excellent recommendation.
Review 10:There was absolutely nothing to dislike!
Review 11:This is a wonderful little gem in a very historic building, perhaps built around the 15th century, in one of the most beautiful hill towns in Umbria.
Review 12:Great location, beautiful old building.staff very friendly and helpful. Difficult access in a car and unfortunately an item went missing from the car when garaged.
Review 13:We stayed two nights, 256 euros plus tax. Not exactly cheap !! Our room, 306, was Standard - not the cheaper Economy. The Room was dark with dingy lighting and decor. View was a tall stone wall with drainpipe. Noisy until very late. The bathroom was extremely small, hardy room to move or squeeze into the shower, or sit straight on the toilet. Booking.com say some standard rooms have balcony, or valley view or spa shower. Our room had nothing like that. Surely this room should be updated and be downgraded as an Economy room. WiFi was slow.
Review 14:The hotel was close to the historic city centre, the public rooms were nice. The city and hotel were busy, with a chocolate Festival in October while we were there. Breakfast was good. But we were disappointed -
Review 15:Helpful staff; very clean room with a nice view; quiet, private room; walking distance to views and sights AND to some of the best restaurants in Italy.
Review 16:The room was very small and dark the bathroom was one of the smallest I have seen in ages
Review 17:The location was incredible the directions to drive to the hotel were excellent. The staff was incredible.
Review 18:In a room with windows over the street, we found it difficult every night to be able to sleep until groups of young, very loud youngsters had left the area, normally well deep into the night. Another light complaint is about breakfast; having spent a whole week 3 years earlier in the same hotel, we found the variety of the available food items, not at the same generous level.
Review 19:Minibar badly iced up and in poor condition, though functioning OK. Furniture somewhat tired.
Review 20:Good views from the balcony (Room 407). An interesting hotel, with character. Friendly staff.
Review 21:It was difficult to find & there should have been specific instructions on how to get there. Please tell people they must go up to a pole on a pedestrian street & ring the bell. Instructions are really non existent.
Review 22:The parking was far from the hotel. Therefore, made it somewhat difficult to get your luggage to & from the hotel. The room was small and the shower in the bathroom was tiny.
Review 23:The hotel was in a great location.
Review 24:Room a bit small but for such a location, understandable.
Review 25:The location was fantastic. 2 minutes walk form the main sights. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, great breakfast.
Review 26:not the best of breakfasts but at a really ecomnmical rate not an issue
Review 27:Absolutely fabulous location just off main square. Very friendly and helpful staff who were really prompt in answering emails in advance. Lovely building with much welcomed air conditioning in all rooms.
Review 28:Lovely rooftop view to watch the sunset. Room was comfortable with easy check in and friendly staff. Hotel is located very central with easy walk to the main street and lovely restaurants.
Review 29:Leaving the hotel by car was a bit tricky because the streets are very narrow indeed. If you have a wide car, be warned!
Review 30:We stayed here for two nights en route from Rome to Florence. The Fortuna is perfectly situated, just a few metres from the Corso Vannucci, but in a quiet street. Parts of the building go back to medieval times and the hotel is full of character. The staff were friendly, the room was large and comfortable with a fantastic view, and the breakfast was excellent (as was the lady in charge). Some of the fixtures and fittings were quite dated, but everything worked as it was supposed to and we had a very pleasant stay.
Review 31:It was a bit noisy outside as the sound would travel, echo down the alleyways
Review 32:Location was great and the staff were happy to let me fill my water bottle up each morning
Review 33:The room did not have a nice view, you were looking at the tiles of the hotels roof and the wallpaper was coming off. You could easily here the people in the rooms next to you.
Review 34:Location is perfect, in city center and close to minimetro
Review 35:Breakfast is good. I didn't miss anything. But every day I or other residents of the hotel had to ask the servicing staff to bring more bread and/or croissants to the dining room, as they were in small quantities and ending fast. The staff should take care of this in advance instead of making people to wait.
Review 36:Probably, the best possible location for stay in Perugia. Helpful staff.
Review 37:The friendly staff. Both frontdesk staff and breakfast and cleaning ladies were very friendly. Perfect location in the historical center near Plaza Italia. Private balcony.
Review 38:The beds are not very comfortable for those who like a softer bed and overall should be replaced.
Review 39:The staff are very friendly and helped us to secure parking and provided excellent restaurant recommendations. The location is central - perfect for exploring Perugia. The rooms are typical in decor and offer a genuine experience.
Review 40:Uncomfortable beds
Review 41:Historic hotel built in 1200's. Make sure to visit library on the third floor and breakfast room. Rooftop deck has some nice views as well. located in the heart of old town, convenient to many attractions.
Review 42:No bad experiences but it didn't have an iron in the room but had to ask for one which is unusual if in Australia
Review 43:Location in particular Lucky we didn't have a car and took a taxi
Review 44:Our room was in need of refurbishment.
Review 45:Just a few yards from the centre of the old city. Breakfast was good and the sun terrace was delightful. We had pre-booked parking which h was most convenient.
Review 46:no tea making facilities in room
Review 47:helpful friendly staff...in a great position for town and wsljing etc.....comfortable spacious room booked delux but friends hsd an economy and they had no light or view
Review 48:The wireless internet was very weak and it was hard to find a place where one could use it efficiently.
Review 49:The hotel is a beautiful interior in a fabulous location with lovely friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Excellent value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends and to visit again ourselves.
Review 50:Economy size room was small and stuffy, especially as we stayed during a heatwave. Staff moved us to a bigger more comfortable room for a minimal charge.
Review 51:Helpfulness of staff
Review 52:Our first room clearly needed renovating but we were quickly moved to another room when the closet door fell off. Lugging our bags up from the fourth to the fifth floor was awkward.
Review 53:Great location in the centro classico. Accommodating, pleasant and helpful staff. Nice upper floor terrace and charming breakfast room..
Review 54:The bed was too hard and there was very little storage space. The bathroom needed updating and a decent shower putting in. Breakfast could be improved, especially better coffee, better choice of croissants and fresh fruit.
Review 55:Location is excellent with good access to buses and train station. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The building is fascinating and every room different. Plenty of good local bars and restaurants so it didn't matter the hotel didn't have them.
Review 56:Nothing at all.
Review 57:We were in a beautiful room which had a Fresco on the ceiling which was 1700 and so beautiful and breathtaking to sleep under. We had 2 loos "his and hers" lol and our bed changed everyday or so it looked. Our room was cleaned the minute we left as if they knew no matter what time we got up and the staff couldn't have been nicer. We will definately go back next year we still have more of beautiful Perugia to see and believe me it is beautiful.
Review 58:There were random steps in the bathroom which could be dangerous especially in the middle of the nite. The beds were not comfortable and the bedding was worn
Review 59:The location was close to the sites. The staff was pleasant
Review 60:Terribly noisy. No soundproofing. Could be a malfunctioning thermostat but it was cold in the room (it was also cold outside). Price okay but no bargain here; you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay extra for a better weekend experience.
Review 61:Location, right in the city centre. WIFI worked great. Budget option in the city.
Review 62:Poor wi-fi: you have to search around the room to find a stable signal. There was a powerful heater in the room which is great for the winter, but often its power supply was off and we had to call reception for it to be turned on. Typical Italian breakfast - only the drink is hot (cheese, prosciutto, cold boiled eggs)
Review 63:Great location, amazing view (executive suite), large room, quiet, heater in the room (but see negative comments about it)
Review 64:None
Review 65:This hotel was ideally located in the city centre. We dropped off our luggage at the hotel and then parked outside the city walls in one of the car parks. With escalators back up to the town, this was a good arrangement and we had a great stay in the hotel and the town. Would definitely recommend this hotel for location and facilities.
Review 66:just the old style bidet and the fact that we could hear perfectly when our neighbours got back to their room late at night
Review 67:the hotel is situated just at the edge of the center and all the nice area. the staff was very helpful about parking instructions and everything else
Review 68:I had asked for a room that was not on the inside of the hotel and that looked outside, but no such luck. Pillows were very uncomfortable.
Review 69:* Front desk staff was exceptionally helpful when I was having problems making a reservation of TrenItalia, and provided personal assistance * Nice central location in the heart of the old city. * Was a good value for the price
Review 70:When I booked I chose a single but was not aware the bed would be a twin size. Luckily there was a single with a larger bed available for more money. The bathroom was located in a separate location from the room. After seeing other rooms on a screen in the hotel lobby, I wish I had selected a better room.
Review 71:The hotel was lovely, the breakfast was excellent and the service was excellent.
Review 72:It's difficult coming with your car to the hotel- even only to unload your suitcases- the streets are too narrow to pass through with a medium size car, and the parking lot is far and cost 11 euros a day.
Review 73:Location- close to everything! The staff is very helpful. The house is very old and quirky in a good way. Offers many living spaces, like a reading room and a balcony.
Review 74:Rather take your Cinquecento than your Cadillac to reach and specially leave the hotel, if you don't want to get bottlenecked in a narroiwing street !! ... but that's not the hotel's fault, that's the case in almost all old italian town centers ...
Review 75:So kind people at the desk, Pretty historic building, Silent nights fifty meters from the main place in Perugia ... What else ? ...
Review 76:Nothing
Review 77:The location was excellent for all the sights of Perugia. The staff were most helpful. The cleanliness was perfect. The building is very old and very interesting. The breakfasts were very good.
Review 78:The good sized bedroom lacked armchairs but included an exercise machine ! The roof terrace with a great view was underutilised by the hotel and not lit at night.
Review 79:Excellent location. It could scarcely be better. The outside of the hotel is attractive but the inside may be more functional than charming. Very clean. Helpful, pleasant staff.Breakfast buffet was fine.
Review 80:The street is noisy, there is a dubious traffic of prostitutes and pimps at the bars and pubs below, who are prone to scandal during the night. The hotel employees and the police are of no help in those situations.
Review 81:Decent rooms and breakfast. Central location. Breakfast medium, but good compared to local standards. Personal friendly, sometimes helpful.
Review 82:Not much- just that our room could have used a painting as there were a lot of scuffs on them...But very clean and comfortable.
Review 83:Location, size of room, terrace, library, staff- great stay I truly enjoyed
Review 84:I made two comments: 1) the toilet did not flush properly - only after several attempts. There did not seem enough pressure for it to work efficiently. 2) It would be helpful to have "Reception" written alongside the button in the elevator. The absence of this caused me to exit at the wrong floor.
Review 85:A lovely hotel in an excellent location, The staff we very efficient, helpful and friendly. I would love to return.
Review 86:The fan in the bathroom should have a switch so that we can turn it off without having to unplug it..
Review 87:From location to staff to everything... just perfect.
Review 88:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was big, comfortable and the hotel itself was quite charming. The location was perfect: right in the city center, but not necessarily where everybody is passing by. Very close to very good restaurants and to nice spots of the city.
Review 89:The elevators into the city are closed before 10pm (but the hotel cannot be blamed for that nuisance).
Review 90:Very friendly and helpful staff, perfect location with great ambience in the center of the medieval looking city. We were here for the third time, certainly we will come again.
Review 91:Wifi quality quite poor, sometimes to the point where it was impossible to use
Review 92:Excellent, helpful staff Very nice location, just a bit off the main street, but calm and quiet Parking space not very far from hotel, also possible to drive at the hotel door to unpack luggage first Nice roof terrace
Review 93:Wifi needs a little improvement
Review 94:Nice friendly staff supporting a five star location ! For a hotel so close the accommodation was lovely. So convenient with our two children under 5.
Review 95:The room is quite small but with the use of terraces it is not a big problem.
Review 96:Very nice hotel in the centre, near to all important monuments. There are two magnificent terraces.
Review 97:Shower is small and wireless not great, but Perugia & Hotel Fortuna are awesome so don't spend time on the computer.
Review 98:A fantastic hotel with charm that is beyond the imagination. If you can afford a suite with a view, DO IT. We had booked a economy room but at check-in the clerk said that she had a view suite and it wouldn't cost much more to have it. It was lovely in every way. Also the hotel is a 13th century building with beauty abounding throughout. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We will definitely return one day.
Review 99:Location, balcony, view, spacious room
Review 100:Excellent location, clean and comfortable room. Good breakfast. Friendly staff
Review 101:Close proximity to both station and main tourist sites. Hotel basic, functional and clean
Review 102:great location
Review 103:Nothing. Just a very good hotel.
Review 104:The atmosphere of the hotel. Big rooms and the central but quiet location. The kindly staff.
Review 105:The location was ideal. Walking to places was was easy. Staff very good.
Review 106:Friendly staff. Lovely location and a great room.
Review 107:Great location in a very nice city. Room spacious with a great view over the rooftops and hills. Breakfast good and helpful staff.
Review 108:The location near the Acedemia Bridge was convenient to get to, in a nice quiet neighborhood and yet easy walking distance from everything else.
Review 109:Could hear people loudly outside walking by late into the night.
Review 110:Breakfast
Review 111:The whole at experience, room, staff and location, at Hotel Fortuna was excellent. The staff were very helpful when we needed air tickets printed up.
Review 112:Shower water pressure poor
Review 113:The location was excellent
Review 114:Horrible for parking twenty minutes away.
Review 115:Close to town
Review 116:Difficult to find by walking from the train station. Very important to take the mini metro or bus or taxi.
Review 117:Location to city centre
Review 118:A greedy guest took 5 bread rolls and there were no replacements.
Review 119:Having the room with the fresco ceiling and extra bathroom.
Review 120:The stay was perfect. Hotel is very central, no complaints and open wishes. Staff also very friendly.
Review 121:if there could be one thing to improve it would be the bed, it was a bit hard!
Review 122:everything was great! and the location is perfect!
Review 123:Nothing. We liked everything.
Review 124:The staff were so helpful, and always smiling. This is a really gracious hotel, and marvellously situated.
Review 125:Excellent staff. Very nice and helpful. Recommend restaurants and helped us find a nice place nearby, where our kids could go swimming. Perfect!
Review 126:Breakfast was somehow poor...
Review 127:The room was nice, clean, big enough and with good view!
Review 128:Friendly, helpful staff and great breakfasts. Centrally located and we would certainly stay there again. Thank you Hotel Fortuna.
Review 129:Slow wifi
Review 130:Helpful staff, when wifi underperforming.
