Reviews for Post-Plaza Hotel
Review 1:We liked pretty much everything and in would definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing I would've done differently is the pillows. as a frequent traveler this is one of my pet peeves. Nothing too bad but just something I would've done to maximize comfort.
Review 2:Nice hotel with comfortably size room and bathroom. Very friendly staff.
Review 3:I would have liked a soap dispenser at the shower (instead of the soap bar) and more light at the desk. Also, vegetables for breakfast would be appreciated although the breakfast is good.
Review 4:Great location, generous room with big windows, nice size bathroom and good toiletry.
Review 5:no negative comments.
Review 6:We like this hotel very much and stay here every year. We look forward to next years stay. We wonder how the hotel will change when the building next door is incorporated??
Review 7:No aircondition in deluxe room. The light of bathroom didnt work 1 day. They apologised with a bottle of wine which is refilled from another bottle wine.;))
Review 8:We returned after a couple of days for additional two nights and had to pay a higher rate.
Review 9:Nice hotel with decent size rooms. I travelled with my two older kids and stayed in a double room with an extra bed. Very clean. Great location - can walk to city center within minutes. A couple of good restaurants are located on the same street close to the hotel. So it worked out very well for us. Good breakfast too!!
Review 10:A real jewel of a hotel. It is like a great New York hotel for a tiny fraction of the price in the beautiful charming city of Leeuwarden. We parked our bikes in their secure basement and explored the small town on foot from this perfectly located hotel.
Review 11:Parking is limited and shouldn't cost that much (if possible even free parking would really increase appreciation).
Review 12:Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service and support. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and the bed in particular.
Review 13:Early morning road noise. Confusing arrangement at breakfast. Repairs to outside window by workman up ladder ongoing whilst wife trying to dress and shower! Mini bar, nuts and other small drinks on table all chargeable. Didn't bother me but wife not knowing that, inadvertently took some to drink on onward journey without me knowing -expecting a bill to follow lol.
Review 14:Staff helpful and friendly, facilities grand and clean. Swedish type sauna & steam room with menthol crystals alongside Jacuzzi was superb. Not for the shy though - loads of towels to use, but encourages naked bathing and sauna use. Mixed facility. I was in sauna as two women walked through (fully clothed) to view the facilities for a moment. Other than that had facility to self. Right next door to Paddy O'Ryan's Irish bar with great meals & sports channels on. Palatial room with black out curtains and two TV's
Review 15:No tea/coffee making facility although there was on a previous visit. Breakfast is pricey and not as extensive as similar standard hotels. Hotel car parking is expensive. Outside on road parking meter charges to 22:00 but then free until 08:00. A guest got a ticket so be careful.
Review 16:I stayed before but on the ground floor. This time was better. Upstairs room with big bed, lots of space. Quiet. Free quick wi-fi. Nice bathroom with great shower. Friendly staff.
Review 17:Breakfast is simple but fine for a business trip. Really nothing not to like.
Review 18:Good location, friendly staff, clean, modern and comfortable. A great choice.
Review 19:Everything was just fine, except the super-weak wifi signal in our room (which, in a way, could be a selling line for people who try not to sleep in a bath of wifi waves).
Review 20:Would be nice to have more comfortable arm chairs in the downstairs sitting area. Quality of breakfast and the service at breakfast was a little disappointing
Review 21:Good location, central for many things
Review 22:Only 8 places of parking (25 euros for the day). But you can go to thenearest parking, 400 m walk, and pay 5 euros per day.Breakfast basic. Coffee was not good.
Review 23:Good bed Good food Excellent location Quiet at night
Review 24:Wonderful bathroom, fantastic shower, gym and sauna facilities (or "wellness"!), multiple choice breakfast, helpful but not over-attentive staff
Review 25:The weather was warmer than usual in this part of holland and the room did not have air conditioning (which is fully understandable) . However the window could not be opened enough to let some air in.
Review 26:Price quality is absolutely correct. Staff super friendly and professional.
Review 27:Unfortunately, we had a bad WiFi reception in our room. We stayed 2 nights in the hotel and most of the time we were note able to get a signal. We didn't choose for breakfast, as we though it was a little bit expensive.
Review 28:Excellent service of the hotel staff. Great location (close to the Blokhuispoort, city centre & a 10 minutes walk to the train station). Spacious, comfortable & clean room.
Review 29:Some architectural choices in the rooms are awkward and hard to understand. There is a room on the top (2nd floor) where you have a huge bed, but the two windows are really far apart at either end of the room not to be seen from the bed. So it ends up a little claustrophobic in fact. Very kindly they put me in another one and warned me about the construction opposite the hotel. This room had big windows, but two of them did not open at all! Why? Very strange. The construction seems like it has just started, so it would be worth investing in sound-proof windows, which open I think.
Review 30:The staff of this hotel is truly unique. No matter what your heart's wish, they will surely fulfil it, if it is humanly possible. This is really outstanding, and I travel a lot. The hotel itself is also pretty unique with a great inner garden, where you can have your breakfast if it is not raining (which it was), a whiff of the sauna in the wellness area fills the whole floor in a very pleasant way and everything is neat, tidy and modern. The bathroom is gorgeous with a really large and comfortable walk-in shower. I love those. Breakfast is a little weird: champagne, but no water, freshly made eggs to order, but no real choice in how they are to be made, no veggies at all, but again: I asked and then they brought me some (only me though). The cook's English was almost non-existent, but again, the wonderful receptionist helped out. All in all this hotel might need a few more hands (someone to oversee breakfast and refill things for instance - which again happened when anyone asked for it and with great kindness at that). It seems a tiny organisational glitch, which, if solved - along with the windows (see below) - would make the hotel near perfect.
Review 31:Lack of A/C in the room. Noise from the street. Slow servie in the Restaurant. Parking facilities - not easy accesable.

Review 70:Excellent check in procedures.Staff well trained and very personable. Room very comfortable. Lunch special menu very good value
Review 71:Having air conditioning in our room would have been great in the particularly hot weather
Review 72:Lack of airco.
Review 73:The bedlinen and the darkness of the room. We slept very well.
Review 74:we did not actually stay at this hotel. the hotel is fully booked with the last minute notice to us on the exact day. However, they help us to find another nice hotel with upgraded room. We have nothing to complain
Review 75:Hotel-provided internet station did not work. TV is at an angle from the bed making it awkward to lie in bed and watch TV.
Review 76:Staff very polite and helpful. Bed nice and comfortable. Ensuite impressive. Nice bathroom products. Rainhead shower and handheld spray nozzle. Out-of-hours breakfast provided - thanks!
Review 77:the WiFi was not available in the room. I'd rather pay for it that relying on the connection and not getting it... The bed was very soft, but that's a personal thing
Review 78:very clean and modern, good location
Review 79:The whirlpool was not working so that was a shame. The mattresses were very soft, which did make sleep a little hard.
Review 80:The staff were very helpful and friendly, taking the extra time to assist our every need. The location was great right by the bars and restaurants and the building itself is impressive. I liked the sauna and steam room.
Review 81:Breakfast not included, should be Included on the rate.
Review 82:The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. Rooms have good space. Located very convenient in the city center you can find shops, and restaurants on walking distance.
Review 83:Whirlpool in wellness centre has some technical prolems, but staff reacted correctly when they got informed. Solution will take some time.
Review 84:Location, with museums closeby. Wellness centre for free. Character of the building.
Review 85:comfortable, perfectly situated centre-city hotel; well-trained and committed staff - fitness and wellness facilities - dinner at their Lourens restaurant is highly recommended!
Review 86:I booked including breakfast for two which was 30 euros more, but this was not found on the confirmation, so I had to pay 30 euros extra for the breakfast. It became a little expensive.
Review 87:beautiful hotel, very comfortable bed
Review 88:I didn't like that the room (Double Twin Room) was on the ground floor and I could hear everything outside (yelling kids etc.), as well as inside from other rooms.
Review 89:The location was great--right in the center, and the staff was friendly.
Review 90:I had some difficulty to find the place and the entrance. {erhaps I shouldn't have tried to walk from the station.
Review 91:I had asked to copy a text for me; it was handed me on arrival. Good dinner although I arrived late
Review 92:We were there on a very cold and rainy day in November. The room wasfreezing cold. The ventilation grids were wide open when we entered theroom. It took 45 minutes before it was getting a little bit comfortable.
Review 93:Location
Review 94:Adjacent building work (in the canal basin behind the hotel) started early each day. However, we liked our room so decided to tolerate it - not a huge problem!
Review 95:Excellent spacious room, and refined atmosphere. The staff were very helpful.
Review 96:Great staff, espesicaly Michelle, she was very helpful, she gave it a personal touch, as in you didn't feel like you were just a number. Lovely Spa area. Large shower area compared to alot of other hotels. Bed was lovely and soft.
Review 97:Breakfast wasn't included inThe booking .com price. Car parking arrangements .
Review 98:The staff were great. Very helpful and accommodating. Comfortable rooms. Breakfast excellent. The wellness centre was a treat for cyclists in the group.
Review 99:construction works outside the hotel ongoing (on week days) whilst this was not mentioned on the website or anywhere else.
Review 100:friendly staff excellent beds good dining
Review 101:Very modern hotel with excellent facilities including spa. Paid extra for breakfast but it was well worth it. Lots of choices both hot and cold. Leeuarden is well worth a visit, it's a nice city with lots to do. Surrounding areas very good also.
Review 102:I would have liked if I have been in advance informed in construction work in neighbourhood - anyway I would have chosen the hotel. What I liked I could change a room for 2 nights.
Review 103:The hotel is beautiful and designed with high taste.
Review 104:The hotel was full and the room given to me was with very bad smell. Icould not stay in that room. I had to complain. Then by the helpfulstaff I was given a suit in a different building as composition.
Review 105:Staff friendly. Very helpful and understand.
Review 106:Glasses and cups in the room need more attention and proper cleaning. We had some water in the kettle when we have just checked in. The changing rooms in the SPA area are quite far away, and its cold there, compared with the spa area. Also not enough lockers
Review 107:Amazing staff that works as one team, and strives to fulfill all guests' requests! Rooms are very nice and modern, beds are comfortable, light is sufficient. Very convenient valet parking service. SPA area is a nice addition to the pleasantness of this hotel.
Review 108:The bed was too soft. Breakfast choices are too limited.
Review 109:The staff were very friendly. The hotel is quiet and very well situated. The room was very comfortable.
Review 110:Bed configuration was not what we expected, and springy soft mattresseswere not really that comfortable. Room service times not very helpful inearly morning or late evening. Getting a taxi proved difficult onnumerous occasions. Temperature and pressure varied a lot in anotherwise very nice shower.
Review 111:Rooms were clean and relatively spacious by Euro standards. Buffetbreakfast was nice though not over the top for the extra price. Locationwas in heart of town and close to many restaurants and shops. Design andsetting in old Post Office building were unique. Bathrooms were modernand quite nice.
Review 112:You can pay Parking in front of the hotel only for two hours, so you have to go out every two hours to pay again (in the morning, paying starts at 8, so wake up at 7:45 to pay)
Review 113:Comfort - lovely Staff
Review 114:The restaurant looked delightful, but we found the 15 Euro's charged for breakfast too high, so did not make use of it. Dinner prices also seemed high, but probably not excessive for a hotel of this calibre, priding itself on its gourmet cuisine. There were renovations going on outside our room, which was not ideal but actually not too much of a problem - and the hotel did provide ear plugs with a letter of apology, which was a nice touch! Thus, only the high breakfast price was really a negative for us. Luckily we found a delightful bakery nearby that provided delicious filled rolls, and excellent coffee. Again, we would gladly return to Grand Hotel Post Plaza in future.
Review 115:We liked that it is in a historical building, beautifully refurbished. We had a standard room and were very happy with it. The decor is muted and elegant, the double bed very comfortable and the bathroom luxurious, especially the spacious shower with huge showerhead. The towel-rail that can be heated is a bonus too. Complimentary toiletries were appreciated. Free internet is great, there was even a computer available for guest use, close to our room. Close proximity to public transport (bus service and train station) as well as an easy walk to the city centre is a big plus. We did not use the gym/spa facilities, but great that they are available in this cosy, yet elegant hotel. We did not meet many of the staff, besides the front-desk staff, who were always very polite and helpful with answering our queries. All in all we would gladly stay here again!
Review 116:Van Sminia lacked wifi, for which we had to go to the main Grand PostPlaza hotel lobby for since the IPad did not connect to the Ethernet inthe room. Van Sminia was down the street a bit from the main hotel andwas extremely quiet - almost eerily so. We seemed to be the only peoplein the entire house at night. Breakfast at the hotel was very expensivebut nothing in the city was open Sunday mornings for food except thegrocery in the train station.
Review 117:Walking distance from train station and city square. Attentive andhelpful staff. We were upgraded to a huge suite in Van Sminia Huys, which was a very comfortable accommodation, although hauling luggage upthe narrow stairway was a challenge. We would definitely recommend thishotel and stay here again.
Review 118:Hotel has spacious rooms, comfortable bed and large bathroom. Reception personel was very friendly. We do recommend to take a dinner at the Brasserie. The food is delicious! We had great stay and will definitely come back!
Review 119:It was new. The renewal did not preserve the historical architecture ofthe building. Ambience was lost. The "double" bed was just 2 singlemattresses pushed together, making it very uncomfortable to cuddle.
Review 120:It was new and clean.
Review 121:Room was cold as heating turned-down completely, but staff was helpfullgiving instruction on how to turn-on heating.
Review 122:Location in the center of Leeuwarden, public parking in front of hotel, walking distance to local restaurants (two of them quoted among the bestin Friesland).
