Reviews for Agriturismo Savoca
Review 1:We were the only guests. The room was under the swimming pool and rather dark under the gloomy November sky. It rained a lot...
Review 2:The food was wonderful! The antipasti kept coming and were made from farm produce - delicious. The pasta dishes were also excellent.
Review 3:Breakfasts excellent Dinner Antipasti best I have had in Italy with superb pasta. Situated in lovely surroundings with peacocks strutting around, friendly cat and dogs.
Review 4:they are new and looking forward to have new guests, for this reason you pay the price of a good bnb for a good 4 stars hotel service. they also managed to organise us a good fish dinner even if we told them at 6. great service. highly recommended for a stay in modica. +++++
Review 5:WiFi did not work at all
Review 6:Clearly a functioning farm. We happened to be there during a party after a marriage. Dinner was super as well as the breakfast with local products
Review 7:The reviews of this place were great as was the advertising but we were disappointed. There was absolutely no information in the room as to facilities, meals, pool, TV etc. our room was missing an AC control. Our friend's were missing a remote control for TV. AC was spotty.
Review 8:There was only cold water in the shower
Review 9:Very nice surroundings, great place to have a wedding, nice and quiet. Few minutes car drive from Piazza Armerina (nice little old town)
Review 10:During the dinner the owner's family, both young and old, watched TV at very very loud volumes in the guest dinner area. Several of us were bothered by this distraction. This was in the area that had been built for the guests and was not in the family quarters.
Review 11:Picturesque and mostly quiet location.
Review 12:ideal place to stay in good weather and experience the Sicilian countryside. peacocks wander and they make their own olive oil. Best feature is convenience for visiting the villa Romano del Castale....a world heritage Roman villa with fabulous mosaics
Review 13:Bed was horrible and squeaky. Felt like mattress and springs were old and worn out.
Review 14:The peaceful location and breathtaking views in the countryside just outside the town of Piazza Armerina. The abundant breakfast and typical locally grown Sicilian food for dinner. The very gentle staff. Good value for money but there is surely some room for improvement in the rooms.
Review 15:Good to know: once in while you might hear dogs barking at night. But we weren’t disturbed by it. It’s what you should expect, when you stay in the countryside.
Review 16:Just a few kilometers outside of the town of Piazza Armerina (apart from the “Villa romana” by the way also very recommendable), this hotel is definitely the place, where you can find the tranquility of a typical, old-fashioned landhouse. The rooms are big and clean, and each of them has it’s own little table and bank in front of it – perfect to sit and try the homemade red wine. The breakfast is excellent and offers a great variety of salty and sweet Sicilian specialties.
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:This place was a beautiful surprise. It was a very relaxing and quiet place to stay. A nice change of pace out in the country. Our room was comfortable and clean. We had dinner and breakfast here and the food was fantastic and there was plenty of it. Staff were friendly. Only wish we could have stayed here longer.
Review 19:Unfortunately, we were given a room overlooking the work area which was not pleasant. We were uncertain as to why as we booked well in advance and it did not seem as though they were fully booked.
Review 20:Lovely grounds, nicely situated outside of town. Staff member hired to check on comfort of guests.
Review 21:The food was expensive and not the same quality as that of other Agritisimo used in the area. The food was therefore expensive. The staff had very poor English even though their website claims to have English speaking staff. Barking dogs all night and peacocks at 5am! Payment by credit card was not possible on departure.
Review 22:This is the place to stay if you want to experience true Sicilan cooking and feel part of a Sicilan family. Mr Savoca, his three sons and their staff make you feel very welcome. It is a safe place for children to rome, with dogs, cats, peacocks, horses and pigs to entertain them when they are not swimming in the ample pool. A fabulous location for visiting the roman mosaics, however be aware that Etna and Siracusa are both a 2 hr drive. Highly recommended.
Review 23:The mattress was very uncomfortable, perhaps in other rooms they are better. We had an issue with a check in, it is aritten from 16.00-18.00 and we were late by 2 hours, because of an accident on the road , when we came to agriturismo nobody was expecting us neither could find our booking and reception was closed. Also staff doesnt speak English apart from one guy.
Review 24:The restaraunt and food, we had a very big room, the grounds are huge for walks and other activities
Review 25:The accommodation side of things is pretty poor and the staff not particularly keen to help. The air con was unplugged and the only way to plug it in was to climb on the fridge, it was set to 27c (in august) and there was no way to turn it down as no remote was provided. TV didn't work, wifi was poor, mattresses lumpy and pillows awful. If as much effort was put into the rooms as the restaurant this would be a fantastic place to stay.
Review 26:The restaurant makes this b&b. The food is excellent, great value and plentiful. The restaurant staff are kind, friendly and really helpful. Setting of the b&b is beautiful also.
Review 27:Old and cold room, bad smell.
Review 28:Breakfast was very good. Big room.
Review 29:Friendly staff, comfortable room, excellent dinner (!) and breakfast, very reasonable
Review 30:wonderful family, great restaurant for morning and evening meal, lovely room with patio, good location for day trips, we will return.
Review 31:Dinner was disappointing
Review 32:Nice rural location
Review 33:Wonderful and accommodating
Review 34:The bed and pillows were uncomfortable
Review 35:Dinner was really excellent and great value.
Review 36:Good experience, pool, relaxing
Review 37:Non smiling staff the waiter
Review 38:The place the food location
Review 39:The huge infinity swimming pool and the peacocks
Review 40:Excellent, peaceful location, large, clean swimming pool to cool off and our best evening meal in our 10 day holiday in Scilly
Review 41:The place is like a paradise.
Review 42:Nothing stood out as being disliked
Review 43:Away from city. felt like an elegant country estate. Entire family add us feel welcomed and appreciated
Review 44:They didn't help much to find the place. They were not very polite The rooms were not very clean
Review 45:The garden
Review 46:The Food, Wine and beautiful Nature of the surrounding area and the place itself.
Review 47:The dining room has just opened at eight am/pm
Review 48:Amazing environment, green, water, beautiful and quiet
Review 49:problems with auto-lights in the bathroom...
Review 50:best breakfast in the world!
Review 51:It could have more placards giving directions around the area.
Review 52:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 53:The place is amazing and value for money. The food is excellent . It's the third time we have been there.
Review 54:Lovely setting. Room was spaciouos and included a fridge which was very useful. Restaurant serves decent traditional Sicilian food. Quite and tranquil. All very quiet when we stayed but it was early season (Pool was not open). After some initial awkwardness when we arrived, the hospitality was efficient and friendly. Friendly owner showed us around the old family home which was a real treat. Would recommend.
Review 55:No water in the pool. Internet unstable. Because of this we had to pay cash, which was inconvenient.
Review 56:The dinner was excellent and copious. The wine very good.
Review 57:The wifi did not work in the room neither directly around the room. The room itself looked a bit Spartan due to some outdated details.
Review 58:Very nice gardens, good breakfast.
Review 59:Room was quite cold, as the outside temperatures were low and there is no heating.
Review 60:Nice place, room relatively simple but quite acceptable for the price you pay. Breakfast is great. Try the dinner (25 € per adult, our 9 year old daughter did not have to pay - set menu with wine and water included) - nice food, special stuff that you do not get everywhere. Friendly staff ...
Review 61:No internet access in room. Pool not clean but we did not contemplate going in because of the cold.
Review 62:Lovely rural setting. Peaceful surrounds. Great breakfast.
Review 63:Information probably sufficient for passing b&b trade. We stayed several days and only gradually found out about the potential of the place and the facilities.
Review 64:A wonderful opportunity of visiting a hard-working family on their farm. Most of the work is done by family members themselves and they are very generous and friendly, especially dealing with problems.
Review 65:The signage to get there are actually very poor ..... it took us over an hour to find it since the gps co-ordinates on the booking.com are not correct. However once we found it, it was a fantastic pleasure.
Review 66:We loved the tranquility, fantastic views and free roaming animals :-) Have never seen so many free range peacocks in one place :-) Breakfast was brilliant, food fresh and home made. Location wise was perfect for exploring central Sicily, especially Enna, Villa Romana de Casale and Piazza Armerina, and just over an hour's drive from Catania airport.
Review 67:We liked everything about our experience.
Review 68:The staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The lodging and meals were generous, of good quality and priced very fairly. Close proximity to the historical Roman Villa de Casale prompted our stay. The groomed gardens, on-site olive oil production and small museum were additional bonuses.
Review 69:On arrival appeared not to be expected. Room dark with no view..Workmen using pneumatic equipment installing air-condtioning. Food hygiene very poor at breakfast, flies crawling over everything, had to choose just bread, things in packets and a single covered large jar of Nutella. Coffee fine. Evening meal largely from jars and packets I guess so probably ok but not good enough to try a second time. Poor nights sleep due to dogs barking and a single gunshot in the early hours ( hunting season perhaps ? ) Almost booked out after the first night but it was the last day of holiday so decided to put up with it. Found a supermarket for things to eat. Attempt to charge me double at check-out !
Review 70:Location Friendly welcome once established that I was expected. Place has some good potential but probably for coach parties / day customers and for summer trading. Volume would allow improvements thro' better staffing
Review 71:We deciced to have the dinner on the farm - the dinner was exactly at 8 pm and all the courses came to everybody at the same time. We felt really rushed through the dinner, the plates were taken away even though you hadn't finished the course. We were also offered white wine, which was cloudy! We didn't drink that but asked for red wine instead - and the waiter got really upset of this.
Review 72:From the outside the old farmhouse and all the buildings were so beautiful and full of character. Shame that this didn't continue inside - the decor of the rooms was shabby. Nice large outdoor pool. Lovely homemade cheeses on the breakfast. Dogs everywhere :-) 20 min drive to Villa Romana del Casale with absolutely amazing roman mosaics.
Review 73:The nice swimming pool, on the terrace above the rooms, is unfortunately open to the public. Meaning, that starting at about 9:30 lots of children visited the pool, accompanied by loud music. We didn't find the nice rustic ambience we'd expected from an agriturismo. We left after two nights in stead of six. Also, there was no airconditioning in the rooms.
Review 74:Nice surroundings with agriculture, lots of animals. Wonderfull breakfast and diner. Only a five minute drive to Piazza Armerina and fifteen minutes to the villa romana.
Review 75:Whilst the pool was large and attractive, having hoards of local teenagers descending on it took away from the relaxing atmosphere.
Review 76:Great place in fantastic farm/parklands location. Excellent breakfast and dining, don't miss Dinner here. Away from noise and cars.
Review 77:The family and their employees don't/hardly speak english and we don't speak italian. We would have loved to hear more about their agri-business, but language made this difficult. The pool was overruled by teenagers from the village, with a lot of noise and chaos... But overall, we would certainly recommend this place. It was the best place we stayed during our 10day trip.
Review 78:We stayed here for 2 nights and really loved this place!! It's surrounded by beautiful nature, and it's really relaxing. No need to leave Savoca's area: you can eat and drink in their restaurant (they serve their own nice&tasty products) and relax at their pool. Also the rooms have everything you need and the employees are very friendly. During our stay there was a wedding, which made it even more special.
Review 79:The setting was beautiful & very peaceful. The room was extremely comfortable. The food & wine produced on the farm were delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very well placed for visits to Piazza Armerina & Villa del Casale.
Review 80:Staff is very friendly, but... they speak only italian, and most of comunication is in gesture language :)
Review 81:Fine location in central Sicily, if you want to travel around and to return to the same beautiful place. We stayed here all week. Absolutely fine breakfasts and dinners (price for dinner is only 20 Euro per person, including wine - lot of antipasti, primo, secondo and desert).
Review 82:Everything. Warm friendly family that own the farm. Great food. Very comfortable room with lovely views of the countryside. Peaceful. A must for anyone visiting Armerina
Review 83:Friendly dogs.... We are not 'doggy' persons but it wasn't a major problem. Tread warily on occasions though. Lovely, noisy, insomniac peacocks
Review 84:Lovely surroundings Quiet Pleasant helpful staff Ideally placed for an early visit to the mosaics at Villa Romana Casale We spent two evenings here and dined at the restaurant which was and the meal was good value and very filling. The wine was delightful. There was a lovely swimming pool which, unfortunately, was just being filled as we left.
Review 85:In such a sizeable enterprise it was surprising that no-one spoke much English - we communicated in French. No-one exuded bonhomie- the introduction to the room was cursory. Our room, one of those under the pool, was rather gloomy with one shaded window and meagre lighting. The 'kitchenette' was locked in a cupboard- you had to pay more for a key to open it, an approach reminiscent of Ryanair.
Review 86:Breakfast was served in the large dining-hall, and was generous and fresh with lots of local products. This was the best aspect of our stay. Pleasant wooded countryside location. Very handy for the Villa Romana and Morgantina
Review 87:This is a great location from which to visit Villa Romana del Casale and Piazza Armerina. It's peaceful with peacocks roaming the farm and a great place to relax after hours of sightseeing. Although the owners speak little English we had no problem communicating. They serve dinner if the guests choose, which we did. A delicious four course meal with wine and water. They also serve a great breakfast. It was still too cool for the pool and summer facilities to be up and running so we cannot comment on those. Spacious, clean room in a great setting.
Review 88:Due to the time of year pool not operational
Review 89:The quality of service, friendly help, the green enviroment, typical local food in a nice restaurant and of course the ability to mix with a nice class of other guests.
Review 90:Problems with WIFI on the first day marred the stay but the issue was settled.
Review 91:The location, the atmosphere, the staff and the food. Value for money was fantastic!
Review 92:No maintenance of the hotel facilities. The pool and other external areas seemed abandoned, and the overall decoration was not arranged. It seems that the hotel had its apogee a few years ago and that now it is just working to survive.
Review 93:Surrounding nature, calm, good location to visit villa romana del casale. Bikes are at your disposal but are in a bad condition.
Review 94:Nice place, nice stuff, nice food, reasonable price
Review 95:the atmosphere with peacocks and dogs is a bit strange but the family is most kind. very, very quiet and peaceful.
Review 96:old fashioned rooms with animals (a bird and a lizard!)
Review 97:close to world famous Roman villa
Review 98:TV didn't worked, sheets were very stinky, dinner was average but very expensive- 40EUR (they wanted to debit 50EUR at first...)
Review 99:Smelly bathroom! 2 dogs annoying us while we tried to eat. We had to go inside and finish our meal!
Review 100:Chairs and table outside.
Review 101:The bathroom
Review 102:The food was great but the bathroom smelt a little. Generally comfortable and reasonable.
Review 103:Hard to find. Confirmation should include a description.
Review 104:Great Sicilian dinner! Good value
Review 105:The area is really quite and nice place to relax out from a city, excellent food and nice staff....
