Reviews for Castello Di Tavolara
Review 1:All was excellent!
Review 2:This was an absolutely amazing stay! The hotel itself is very nice and cosy family business, the atmosphere tgeee is great and many time we felt as a part of their family :) Marco - the owner was so nice and funny and made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable! Mateo - the receptionist guy was just great as Marco! He was so friendly and helped us a lot every day with what rver we needed (nice places, directions, restaurants, places to visit etc). He never looked annoyed with any of iur questions and you can see that he really likes his job! The hotel itself is very nice, it has the character and the rooms are nice and clean with good A/C. The breakfast was very good too, all you need to start a day with, when u finished your coffee they offered you another one straight away or ut was already on the table :)) Overral feeling was absokutely great, i would definitellyveecommend to stay in castello for thise looking for a rekaxing, memorable stay, with a great care from people they don't think about just the business, but they really want you to feel good there and have a nice holudays! Thank you so much for all your care, will definitelly return
Review 3:Nothing to dislike
Review 4:Excellent location. Clean, comfortable room. Extremely welcoming, friendly and efficient staff. Ample breakfast. Private parking close by. Beach umbrellas to borrow.
Review 5:Wifi did not work due to provider issues in the establishment.
Review 6:Nice hotel with good Italian breakfast. The beach is 1 min far walking. Air conditioning. New hotel.
Review 7:Wi-fi very poor. Breakfast is ok and it was included in the room rate :) but eating lunch or dinner not an option.
Review 8:Good location, 3 minutes walking distance from the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room is clean every morning and mini bar refilled every day. Good price. Nice, peaceful and relaxing.
Review 9:The helpful attitude and actions of the owners. We had to pick a car up from the airport, we asked the best way of getting there - no problem - the owner took us in his car. The room was compact and clean. The buffet breakfast was fine
Review 10:There are no negatives.
Review 11:A wonderful warm welcome awaits you at Castello Di Tavolara. The rooms are spacious and very clean and have everything you need. I would not hesitate to stay here again. the location is brilliant just 5 minutes from the beach and minutes away from restaurants and shops. Porto San Paolo is such a lovely resort and a boat trip to Isola Tavolara is a must.
Review 12:We spent there a few days with my husband. The place is well located and the staff was nice, helpful. The price is including breakfast which was delicoius :) Highly recommended :)
Review 13:Nothing. All good.
Review 14:We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The owners/ staff were very easy going and friendly. Always smiling and easy with our toddler who loved them all. Special thanks to Ivan, Marko and Iliana for the friendly service and great recommendations. The location was great. Close to several lovely beaches. Theres a beach a few minutes away from the hotel and a childrens park as well which was great as we were with our 2.6 year old daughter and she loved it. One thing to note...you need a car to really explore Sardinia. Parking is very easy here and free too. We will be back
Review 15:For us there were just a couple of negatives. Firstly, we could have done with a chest of drawers as there was only a wardrobe, and drawer space was minimal, and secondly the toilet in our room was very slow to fill and would go on for quite a while and for this reason was quite noisy.
Review 16:We recently had a very enjoyable stay at the Castello di Tavolara . The accommodation is what you would expect from a Mediterranean holiday resort hotel. There are many positives. The room was large and airy with a nice balcony and the bathroom was a very good size with a superb shower. The room was kept spotlessly clean by the two room maids. We used the air conditioning occasionally and that would be a bonus in the much hotter months. There are two beaches within an easy 5 minute walk (one is 2 minutes!) and another which is a good 10 minute walk which is called on Google maps as Carollina Coast Sea Place. The breakfast was pretty well what you would expect, yoghurts, 3 cereals, rolls, 3 meats, cheese, fried eggs 3 times in the week, fruit, jams, honey marmalade, cakes and croissants. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and very helpful throughout our stay. The snacks and meals in the bar were also very good. We had our lunch at the hotel 4 times and we also had an evening meal which was basic but plentiful. Due to the time of year the resort and island was very quiet which we quite liked apart from there being a limited choice of restaurants to eat in at night. I would, without question, stay at this resort again and would also book the Castello di Tavolara too.
Review 17:Not much really. Some rooms are quite small but for these prices, who cares!
Review 18:Stayed here for the second year in a row because it's: 1-only 20 minutes to the airport 2-fantastic value 3-less than two minutes walk to great beaches, boat trips and good restaurants. 4-staffed by very helpful people
Review 19:Nothing!
Review 20:Easy access from Olbia airport (easyJet). Short walk to a sandy beach and excellent restaurant Il Portolano. Comfortable room with AC and good breakfast. Excellent value.
Review 21:Coming home !
Review 22:Lovely, clean, friendly hotel, situated close to Olbia Airport (10 minutes by car) and minutes from the very pretty Tavolara beach. Our hosts were very hospitable and made our stay a real pleasure.
Review 23:Other holidaymakers not very friendly, very reserved. The girl serving in the supermarket at the top end of the town (near the roundabout) has to be one of the rudest individuals I have ever met. Very annoyed with us for not weighing our bananas ?? And throwing our change down. This didn't give a good impression of the town.
Review 24:Clean comfortable accommodation. Short walk to the beach, sun beds and parasol cost €15 to hire. Nice bar menu available at hotel for when you didn't want to pay restaurant prices. Popular fish restaurant nearby but quite pricey for a small amount of food. Flintstones restaurant a short walk quite nice also. Barman and young man on front desk very friendly and pleasant.
Review 25:It's not the most charismatic hotel being on the road and opposite the local football ground. Don't be put off by this though.
Review 26:Stayed here again this year as it's only 20 minutes by car from Olbia airport. clean, great, value and less than 2 minutes walk to the beaches looking out on the amazing island of Tavolara. The nearby, fabulous, Il Portolano restaurant is right on the beach . Boat trips and hire right on the doorstep.
Review 27:The Castello Di Tavolara Hotel is very clean and the staff superb. The rooms are very comfortable and we could not fault the friendliness of ALL the staff, even Ava the hotel dog made sure you are welcome. The breakfast was typical for this region with very good value snacks available throughout the day. The hotel is in a very good position in the resort but the area is very quiet, but ideal if you just want a few days to relax or tour this coastline of Sardinia. There is a lovely quiet beach very close by ideal for sunbathing and swimming. If we chose to return to this area we would certainly stay here again. There are not too many restaurants in the area but there are sufficient to cover most peoples tastes. The Portolano holds the best location and the food and service is very good but is possibly priced at a premium. The worst service and value was the pretentious Flintstones, whether we caught them on a bad day I'm not sure, but the restaurant was only half full and sadly they had a very unhelpful attitude towards us which maybe we would have accepted if they were exceptionally busy. This was very untypical compared to all the other restaurants we visited in the week.
Review 28:We spent 3 days over there, unfortunately it was too short. We should have stayed longer. The rooms are nicely designed, the showers had some kind of jacuzzi, it was quite relaxing. The location is very close to the beach with a view on the tavolara. The staff was very helpful and recommended some good nice restaurants. Would definitely come back again
Review 29:A kettle in our room would have been nice.
Review 30:Fantastic family room with lots of space. Spotless rooms, cleaned thoroughly every day and clean bedding when needed regardless of your length of stay. Breakfast ample loved the eggs with the added ham to the egg whites. Made to feel welcome. Beach less than a five minute walk away. Umberellas provided by hotel which is a real bonus.
Review 31:There is a beach near the hotel, however if you would like to go to the better beaches a car is strongly recommended.
Review 32:Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, nice and tidy hotel.
Review 33:Tikj bar.. Very loud and late, not great food. Spoilt the ambiance of the resort! It's a shame the local authorities allow it to be so loud!
Review 34:Superb hotel, perfect location very close to the beach and ferry to Travolara, which we strongly recommend for a day teip. Service, comfort and staff could not be faulted. A very enjoyable stay, would recommend. A highlight was the restaurant Il Portolana.. Stunning food and excellent service with a view to match!! Perfect holiday!
Review 35:Sea view.
Review 36:Absolutely loved the staff!!! Best part of the experience. They were super attentive. Breakfast was wonderful too. I highly recommend this hotel!!
Review 37:Breakfast could be more varied and would benefit from more choices of cheese and breads
Review 38:Easy access to airport , beaches and lovely coastal walks
Review 39:WiFi internet connection was very poor
Review 40:Everything was very good, staff very friendly , it was a pleasure to stay here
Review 41:the wifi reception was okay, but the speed was very slow
Review 42:Staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts tasty and plenty.
Review 43:Great hotel. very clean. Run by very caring and attentive family. Great location
Review 44:The service is outstanding.the staff friendliness is above any expectation
Review 45:Your hospitality and friendliness were extraordinary. We appreciated the stay very much. Thanks a lot! Dina and Marianne
Review 46:Central location. Spotless. Marco and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere! Will definitely return.
Review 47:Very friendly and relaxing hotel. Pleasant environment to holiday in, lovely room with balcony.
Review 48:Nothing
Review 49:easy to find. Room very clean and modern. Good location to try local cuisine.
Review 50:Out of season there are few restaraunt choices in the area
Review 51:Breakfast was supurb, as was Oreste's coffee
Review 52:- sometimes too loud due to couple living above us
Review 53:- family atmosphere - breakfast - cleanliness
Review 54:Good location, free parking, free WiFi, good breakfast, everything works.
Review 55:Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, nice clean hotel and nice area.
Review 56:Grazie al personale: Matteo ed Oreste!!
Review 57:You can here a noise from the others rooms - toilet, shower etc.
Review 58:Very nice staff.
Review 59:The place was very nice, clean rooms, pleasant and kind staff, amazing location by the beach and the port and a very nice bar/ restaurant at the place.. Although for general information about the area of the hotel regarding attractions & beaches etc It is best to ask the information center near the hotel, good dil for the money and good ice-cream!
Review 60:Wi-Fi was not very fast, but Auchan in Olbia has free wi-fi available.
Review 61:Large room (actually 2 connected rooms with bathroom - this is what we've been looking for as family). Good breakfast: fruits, milk, fried eggs, coffee, yogurts, home-made pies :) Special thank to Alessandro who was very helpful. For a sandy beach you will need a car and the hotel has free parking.
Review 62:For me it was ok, but if one is a little bit larger, the shower cabin may be very tight. But may be they have another rooms with larger ones.
Review 63:It's a very cosy hotel, really friendly stuff. Every room has an balcony. It is situated in a calm place, inspite of a road infront of you. Only few minuts walking to the beach, which is very beautifull with less or sometimes no other tourists there. But there are enough good restaurants in any time. But the best Coffee ever you get in the Hotel!!! Breakfast is very tasty, everything is fresh and good choise, even if you the only one custum there:) In front of the hotel you will be hosted by Eva - the Hoteldog, a cute and shy one! We are very thankfull to the stuff, who has done our weekend there so pleasant!
Review 64:Nice hotel with friendly staff, very close to the beach. We booked a double room which was very nice and spacious enough. Nice village/surroundings but in this period very quiet.
Review 65:Nothing - a very good stay.
Review 66:The hotel is extremely close to the beach and if you are travelling by bus it is just a short walk from the bus stop to the port. The hotel staff was very friendly and our room was a very good size with a comfortable bed, nice linens and a spotless bathroom with plenty of hot water and pressure. The breakfast was in the hotel restaurant and was very good with local cheese, meats, breads, juice, yoghurts and cereals. Everything was fresh and the gentlemen serving us coffee was very pleasant. We had a very nice stay here and would like to have stayed longer but we booked the hotel for its proximity to the airport on our last night of our holiday. I would have loved to have spent more time along the beach where we spent the afternoon. There are lots of cruises to explore the islands and we would love to return. A highlight for us was the Ristorante Il Portolano, steps from the sandy bay in Porto San Paulo. We cannot say enough about the food which was top notch (try the tempura sardine starter followed by the crispy octopus - heavenly!). My sea bass on a bed of tagliatelle with courgette was simply delicious as well. The restaurant is pricy but the food is delicious, well presented and you have that view to die for. We would stay again at the hotel as it is a very good base in which to explore.
Review 67:October is not the month to go to Porto San Paolo, especially if you're not driving. Most of the places are closed down and there's little to do. The beaches near the hotel were too windy for sunbathing, so we had to go to San Teodoro.
Review 68:Nice place with friendly people. The room was really spacious with interesting furniture and the view of the island is really beautiful.
Review 69:very friendly staff (feel like you are at home really), location close to sea, amazing beach escpecially on Tavolara (20 min by bout), 5 min from supermarket (good one) ... very amazing landscapes and nice people, fall in love with San Paolo. The best place I`ve ever been...
Review 70:Only basic English knowledge among the staff. The city itself has not too many things to see and got only a few restaurant. Public transport to other cities (bus only 5-6 times a day), so you rather need a car if you would like to see more from Sardinia.
Review 71:Close to the beautiful sandy beaches - still warm at the end of September (ca 22 C). Tavolara island is a must to have ship/beach tour. Nice small city, calm and quite, definitely for tourists and has other wonderful beaches nearby. Good building, friendly staff, free of charge bicycles and beach accessories.
Review 72:Porto San Paola is a perfect place to get to Tavolara, however, we would definitely recommend renting a car if you are going to be there more than a day or two as there are limited activities in Porto San Paolo. There are huge beautiful beaches within a 15 to 20 car ride though and we found it was great having such a nice home base to go back to at Castello Di Tavolara.
Review 73:It was the perfect hotel to stay the last 2 days of our 25 day European vacation! The rooms were clean and well maintained. Nice bathroom, refrigerator, wi-fi, one large bed rather than 2 twins found in a lot of places (although I'm assuming they have twin beds if you need them (but ask)), great breakfast included in the rental price (meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, pastries, juice, milk, yogurt, cereal, coffee, etc) and the best staff we could ask for. Stefino (spelling?) went above and beyond what I would expect any employee to do in making sure my fiance and I made the most out of the two days we were there. He suggested places to go, printed maps off of the internet, and was all around a great guy. Everyone there made the stay very pleasant including the owner who also went out of her way to insure we had a great stay. Also, the location is excellent! The water is just a couple minute walk with perfect views of Tavolara. There is also a ferry available right there to visit Tavolara. I would highly recommend staying there and would definitely stay there again.
Review 74:Nothing to dislike about the hotel. You need a car though if you want to visit the larger beaches nearby.
Review 75:Very nice hotel with lovely staff, clean room, parking spaces nearby, and the best mojitos we ever tasted, prepared by the supernice barman. An extra bonus was the free wi-fi.
Review 76:Wifi should work a little bit better.
Review 77:The staff was very friendly and tried to help us in every aspect. The breakfast was satisfying in a nice surrounding. The location is perfect for one who wants to explore Sardinia but a car is needed. The town is really enchanting and the people welcoming.
Review 78:National bank holiday around 15 August so was noisy late at nights. Also bottles being collected from restaurants was noisy early inmorning. Air con was controlled centrally and only came on for a fewhours each night.
Review 79:Location was great for beaches and restaurants. Staff very helpful andable to understand English as this is a very Italian resort. Excellentbreakfast with lots of homemade pastries and cake. Rooms cleaned dayand spotless.
Review 80:Wifi is rather slow.
Review 81:We did like almost everything - friendly staff, room, comfort, location, bar. In addition to that there was the best coffee we've ever tasted!
Review 82:Every single morning from 5.30 am to 7 am there were trucks making terrible noise (garbage picking, glass bottles, etc) just infront the hotel. From 8am the children were crying. So we can't say we slept like we were on holiday evendough the bed was very very confi.
Review 83:Family run hotel located 3min walk from the local beach. Rooms are a bit tiny but well organized and very very clean.Breakfast is good, some good-home made pastries, but definetly need some daily variety(ham, cheese and sometimes eggs are not enough)-maybe some salad, fruit salad, diff types of cheese,ham,prosciutto,olives... Staff is very friendly and willing to help and answer all questions. The area is quite nice, it is a small village but there are no tourists at all, only locals with app and villas. A car is a must for moving around the island.
Review 84:We had a ground floor room which had no view and the very small shut-in terrace was not great - request a first or second floor room when you book!
Review 85:Nice friendly staff, the breakfast was simple but with a good choice Special mention to the barman who is very helpful and made us a Gin & lemon ice cream cocktail!
Review 86:The amount of hot water flow at bath was not enough, but maybe it cannot be helped due to dry season...
Review 87:Staff were all friendly, room was clean, breakfast was good enough, nice location - 3 min walk to beach, fancy restaurants nearby, 5 min to supermarket.
Review 88:All the staff very friendly and helpful even if not all speaks English - good opportunity to begin your Italian :) Oreste's coctails are really excellent. Breakfasts so good! Bikes for free to see other nearby beaches.
Review 89:Perfectly situated just south of the Costa Smeralda. Perfect point of departure to see the marvelous shores of Norh-Eastern Sardinia. The hotel was smal and picturesque and the staff where very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fresh and good. Not much more to expect from a hotel in this price range. Close to a small beach and the port. Small town with not too much going on, why I would recommend a rental car to explore the real beauty of this fantastic island. I would definitely and gladly return to Porto San Paolo and Castello di Tavolara!
Review 90:Too much furniture in the room, made it difficult to move around, and get to your suitcases. Could easily remove some of the furniture without lacking any of it.
Review 91:Peaceful location, friendly staff
Review 92:Absolutely nothing to dislike!!
Review 93:The breakfast was lovely, with a variation in the selection each day. Thank you for the best cup of coffee!! Room was spacious with a small balcony. A short walk to various restaurants and bars. A couple of supermarkets within easy walking distance.
Review 94:Breakfast was a bit basic but similar to a number places we have stayed in Sardinia
Review 95:Great location in small seaside village with excellent restaurant close by. Staff really helpful.
Review 96:Very nice small hotel, friendly staff. Great location- close to Olbia. Beach is just few minutes walk from the hotel. There are also several shops and cafes in the nearest area.
Review 97:I want to say thank you to the staff , it was the first time in Sardiniaand they gave us a lot of hints to visit the area. And what a beautifularea, the sea and the views are breathtaking. The room was clean andwith a beautiful bathroom. Since the lady at the reception knew that wewere japanese she gave us a room with a bathtub. The breakfast is madeof a good continental buffet, and they serve a really good capuccino.Arigato gozaimashita.
Review 98:We are completely satisfied for many reasons: the atmosphere is really familiar thanks to the professional and friendly staff always ready to take care of us! We had a welcome drink in the cafe downstairs and there is nothing better when you are still in a full jet lag! The room was really really clean (that was nice for us so we could walk without slippers). Me and my brother like hiking and we had many opportunities around the area of SanPaolo.
Review 99:Nothink really maybe just Wifi should be included.
Review 100:We loved everything about this hotel. It's located very close to the small beach. There are few nice restaurant around and the best pizza just beside the hotel in restaurant Cala Junco. Oreste is very helpful bartender and makes great coctails. All the staff is very nice and friendly and rooms are clean and comfortable. I read here that people have small complains about breakfest but you get selection of cereals, fruit, pastries, ham and cheese, nice fresh rolls, jams so i think it's simple but it's all you really need for start of the day. And what we really apreciated on the day we were leaving they prepared breakfast for us at 6 o'clock because we had to leave really early. Thank you :)
Review 101:The most helpful hospitable family run hotel I've stayed at. They went out of there way for me . All facilities were excellent and it's around the corner to the little port which takes you to Tavolara island which is a must see visit. Thank you and I will see you next visit,
Review 102:Friendly,helpful , unobtrusive staff. Very good location to several nice beaches, and easy to get to from Olbia airport.Good food available in both the hotel and nearbye restaurants.
Review 103:Friendly and helpful staff, clean room, very good breakfast, close to the beach, parking, considerate cleaning staff. A lot of good restaurants nearby - not Cala Junco (awful food, impolite staff and expensive).
Review 104:Our Italian was as bad as their English, so do brush up on a few simplephrases to get you by. Although this didn't present a real problem.Staff were very friendly and patient with us.
Review 105:Absolutely fantastic stay at the hotel Castello Di Tavolara. Lovelyclean air conditioned room, very comfortable bed, spotless bathroom andsmall shower, bijoux balcony area for two with our room on the firstfloor. Lift available for heavy luggage. Really friendly staff. Greatbarman who made the best Mojitos, thank you Orreste!! Easy and quick toget to by bus from Olbia's airport and considerably cheaper (1.50 euros)than a taxi (35-45 euros!) Hotel staff arranged a moped for us so thatwe could get around the North of the island. There is a beach fiveminute's walk from the hotel. Tourist shops, supermarkets andrestaurants all within walking distance. Would definitely recommend thishotel. Wouldn't recommend going to the Cala Junco restaurant next doorthough. The food was not worth the prices they were charging. Many moregood restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
Review 106:Very good hotel, very nice staff, good location in a pretty villlage, close to the most beutiful beaches. We booked a smaller room, which wasreally small but enough for 2 person and was very nice decoreted, andalso had a small balcony as the other rooms. For 50 euro for2 personswith breakfast was absolutly a good deal! Bathroom with normal size, nice and clean. The whole hotel is very clean and we didn't have anyproblem with the noise (the hotel is absolutly in the center), couldsleep well, but it was not saison (first week of June) Very goodbreakfast, fresh made pastries, also ham, cheeese, eggs..etc., You canalso eat it on teh terrace of the hotel. They have a little café wwithice and sandwiches during the day. And very very kind and helpfulstaff!!! Good pizza just next to it (Junco)!
Review 107:This hotel is so perfect that even my mom with whom I was travelling with was repeatedly insisting that I must not forget to write the reviews and praise the hotel. It was spotlessly clean, simple, perfectly styled into every detail,it had amazing breakfast and very very friendly and efficient staff. I would especially like to praise the lady who was in charge of breakfast. She prepared espressos for everybody and already the second morning she remembered what we asked for the day before and no matter how much in hurry shy was, she was preparing the coffees with smile on her face and with visible liking of her job. The buffet was always immediately refilled even five minutes prior to the end of breakfast time and even warm sweat pastries were served around the room when brought in. The area is not so great for beach stay only, becuase the local beach is very tiny, but I would endlessly recommend it to all those who have a car or a moto during their stay so they may go to other beaches, who intent to take the boat to Isla Tavolara, or who, like us, travel around Sardegna. We loved this place and recommend it absolutely.
Review 108:In room 208 the TV is not in a comfortable position, when you watch TV from the bed!
Review 109:We have been in April in this hotel and we have been extremely happy. The young lady who runs the hotel is very nice and friendly. We felt mostly welcome. The whole family is helping, is very warm hearted, friendly and helpful. We had to leave early morning and the lady of the house was making us a wonderful breakfast to take away and she was baking a cake for the mother of my boyfriend who had birthday. Beside this we had a selfmade bottle of wine as a present of the house in our room. THe rooms were very clean and there were no wishes. We can absolutely fully recommend this house and we will be back whenever we are in Sardegna. The locations is close to Olbia (11km South) in a little village very close to seaside. I wish all the stuff of the hotels are like those people. The price and the service were excellent! Thank you dear Sabrina!
Review 110:Very nice, lovely hotel! Special greetings to Oresti- helps to solve all our desires.
Review 111:Quite small sdo a good place for a few days but not for too much longer
Review 112:Restaurants and access to beaches
Review 113:everything was perfect, we really enjoyed our stay here.
Review 114:A small cosy family run hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. Try some of Orestes wonderfull coctails and drinks. Good value for money.
Review 115:everything !
Review 116:I would recommend this hotel, young girl at front desk was lovely, room very clean, great position. Breakfast awesome!
Review 117:Friendliness, cleanliness, value for money.
