Reviews for Etruscan Chocohotel

Review 1:The secure parking is located under the hotel and there was enough height for our vehicle including the roof box. The restaurant has a good dinner menu ideal for us on the first night after travelling all day. The Christmas market and underground tour we recommend. Assisi is nearby also the lake.

Review 2:Bed very hard. No tea/ coffee making facilities in room. Hotel too warm for our liking and air con not cooling room.

Review 3:Spin bike in room, large bed, 2x singles connected. Chocolate theme, easy walk into town, easy access to road network. Parking. Excellent breakfast, easy to find.

Review 4:Not a lot to dislike, I would expect at least tea / coffee making facilities in room. Hotel is on a busy road so was a little noisy.

Review 5:Comfortable hotel with nice breakfast. Take away the chocolate theme its just the same as most other network hotels.

Review 6:Roof terrace was closed though the weather was very mild, so there is no place to sit and relax outdoors. We booked here because of the advertised lovely terrace views and were disappointed in this aspect.

Review 7:Pleasant hotel in the newer part of Perugia. Good transport to the old town, bus stop is outside the hotel. We traveled by train to Assisi and Spello so being ten minutes walk to the station was handy for us. The hotel restaurant has good food so we ate there some nights

Review 8:The breakfast buffet was nice, but the coffee was only ok. The bed was not very comfortable. I think the mattress needed to be replaced.

Review 9:Housekeeping did a great job and was generous with towels, tissue, and toilet paper. There was parking on site. The location close to the highway was perfect as we spent our days exploring towns in Umbria and Tuscany and took the bus to Perugia in the evening.

Review 10:The bathroom needs renovation. The hotel is near to the one of the main streets so it is quite loud at night.

Review 11:Phantastic breakfasts, one of the bests in Italy we have ever had. Very good location. Near to the railway station. Clean and spacious room

Review 12:Bar is not manned. Have to ask someone on reception to get a drink served. Mini bar not stocked properly, would have been nice to enjoy a drink im room. Location fine for one night but if longer would have looked for closer to town. Perugia was a beautiful stop over- would recommend

Review 13:Fun interesting hotel. Nice breakfast. Good for an overnight stay/novelty. Good transport to main town-bus stop outside hotel. Not far from train station. Staff were helpful.

Review 14:The location was not great. It is 20min walk all the way uphill. When I asked the hotel if it is walkable she said "that depends of you".... The air conditioning didn't work although it was very hot in the room. There explanation is that the summer is over so no air conditioning. We chose the hotel for the chocolate theme but we were very disappointed with the lack of it...apart from the breakfast of course!! The wifi was de-activated on our last day even before we checked out of the hotel!! No room service apart from drinks. I would have expected something more from this hotel.

Review 15:Free parking opposite the entry

Review 16:Very good breakfast buffet. Room was very comfortable. Staff were very nice in answering all our questions. Hotel is close to bus stops taking to the train station and city center. Bus passes are available for sale in the reception.

Review 17:nothing within walking distance of the hotel so very reliant on a car, taxi or the local bus service

Review 18:breakfast was great and the hotel facilities excellent

Review 19:No wifi reception in room The town centre is difficult to walk to (very steep climb) and inaccessible by car However, it is a beautiful city with a fantastic centre

Review 20:It was 'ok'

Review 21:Nothing in particular... maybe too strong detergent smell when you first enter the room. But afterwards one gets used to it... Anyhow, the fragrance does not attach to your belongings!

Review 22:A very nice and lively hotel, with basement garage. It has a roof terrace with a splendid view over the city (unfortunately it is closed after September 15th)

Review 23:Location it's in a run down area of Perugia with few restaurants. The pool is over looked by a block of close apartments. Rooms could do with up dating, the furniture is tired.

Review 24:Breakfast was excellent.

Review 25:Dated old hotel Ugly building and room Nothing around Got one chocolate stirrer as a present between 2 people that tasted off Surprisingly, an hotel with no character. So disappointing

Review 26:Parking and wifi

Review 27:Steep uphill walk (or bus ride) to city centre. Not too much directly around the hotel.

Review 28:The staff (very nicely!) let us check in at 11 a.m. Breakfast was plentiful (there is loads of chocolate), and pool was also a nice bonus. Bed was comfortable and room was clean.

Review 29:The location is not good and the breakfast was poor.

Review 30:The hotel is very cute and it has it's charm with the chocolate theme. The staff were excellent and room is very charming and comfortable.

Review 31:The main restaurant was very basic and did not have a good menu selection.

Review 32:Breakfast was fantastic with a great selection. Location good and a very comfortable hotel.

Review 33:It is not in the center of Perugia and even though it says that it's a couple of kilometers away, you have to go up hill so you need to take transport. Which is fine, but we thought that it was not that far. Breakfast is really good but bear in mind that Italians have sweet breakfast.

Review 34:The hotel is excellent value for money. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has very nice food.

Review 35:Wifi kept cutting in and out. Bit of a walk to the centre of town. Pool area needs some shade.

Review 36:Breakfast was yum but could use some variety. Room was very comfortable. Air conditioning was good.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:The chocolate theme is wonderful - and through out the hotel the theme is everywhere! You can NEVER have too much chocolate! Location was just right, too.

Review 39:We had a chance to spend a few hours looking around Perugia and then spent the night at the Chocohotel. It was comfortable good value, and perfect for our short stay.

Review 40:No refrigerator in room.

Review 41:It was easy to get into with our car - no parking issues. The room was spacious with a good bed and bathroom, and air conditioning that worked. The staff were helpful and informative. Breakfast was good and carried out the chocolate theme.

Review 42:Its a bit far to walk from the station. The wifi was not working properly and we had to pay extra for breakfast which we booked as included. The breakfast was also not really for all types of customers it was more for italian people. Not worth the 8 euros.

Review 43:nice rooms, a bit noisy so close to the road and trash bins.

Review 44:we didn't care for location. No shops or restaurants in area except huge Chinese restaurant behind hotel. we were the only people there. they speak Chinese and Italian but no English. we tried resaurant in hotel but they were too busy with a large private party and a large tour group. Very noisy

Review 45:Room was spacious. We had a Choco (Sweet) Suite. nice bag of fun chocolates for both of us to take home to grandkids.

Review 46:This hotel provided an overnight stay in Perugia before continuing our journey by train to Florence. It was selected - for obvious reasons by our 12 year old and was the highlight of her trip to Italy! The hotel and especially the breakfast is a chocolate lovers heaven. There's a great little gift shop and the rooms a spacious and comfortable. Proximity to the town isn't that close, but the Perugia train station is only a walk and this suited our purposes just fine. Although we had arrived on a public a holiday in Italy (the epiphany) when almost everything was closed - including the Hotel's restaurant - the staff were fantastic and rang around to find somewhere open for dinner and also provided us with some complimentary chocolate gifts - really excellent service!

Review 47:We arrived very early and fully expected to have several hours to wait before check in, but we were shown to our room right away. We were even upgraded to a suite! The rooms are very cute with their chocolate bar head boards and bedspreads with chocolate written in several languages. Our room was quiet and the wifi worked well. The room and hotel itself were very clean, but the biggest plus is the staff--they are super friendly! We were always greeted with a smile and the front desk was readily available to answer questions. They also spoke perfect English, which is always a huge plus for travelers. The Chocostore had a wide variety of novelty chocolate items for sale, and all was reasonably priced. The breakfast was delightful and was kept fully stocked; it's self-serve and all you can eat 7am-10am. I would highly recommend this hotel if you have children, are a chocoholic, or just like a kitschy hotel with a fun theme. It's about 1 km from city center, but can be easily reached by public bus, which stops right in front of the hotel, or it's a 30 min walk. We had our own car, so we drove to the public parking lot and paid 2eu/hr--simple and totally worth it. We would have walked had it not been so cold! Parking for the hotel is free and there's plenty of it. The restaurant inside the hotel was also lovely; we received good service and the food was tasty. It has a nice ambience and offers chocolate pasta dishes, if desired, as well as an ample menu. Reservation required; they open in the evenings at 7:30. In all--a great place to stay in Perusia--highly recommend!

Review 48:Parking was available but was a slight challenge during busy conference. (We did always find a spot).

Review 49:Very accommodating, friendly staff-checked us into our room early. Loved the "prima colazione" at the cafe bar. Family and friends back home truly appreciated the unique souvenirs from the hotel choco-store. The bus to the historic center of Perugia stopped directly in front of the hotel-very convenient.

Review 50:The hotel was great for our one night stopover in Perugia. A little dated though, the rooms were fine. Bathroom a little old but again ok. Breakfast was good. The dinner was lovely at the restaurant although the service was slow. Easy parking.

Review 51:Location was too far from town to walk either during the day or for food in the evening. Restaurant very disappointing. One waitress (small dark haired girl) was lovely but the other one (taller and blonde) was very miserable. She forgot to order our food on one evening and we waited for about an hour before we queried it -no apology! Saturday night they had run out of steak and of french fries at 8.15. Very poor.

Review 52:Beds were clean and comfortable. Garage space was good. Breakfast was good

Review 53:Beds are hard as rocks. Pool was closed. Very far from the center of the city.

Review 54:We enjoyed the free breakfast and Wi-Fi. Those are important when you are traveling.

Review 55:The air conditioner did not work very well. We were trying to get the humidity out of the room. The bed - like most beds in Italy was too firm. The pillows were flat.

Review 56:It was on the main bus line. Buses came by all the time to take us to center city or to the train station.

Review 57:The novelty of the chocolate theme wears off pretty quickly and needs to be backed up by great service. Reception lady was not the most friendly one we've come across. The breakfast buffet was not as expected from pictures on internet. It's the same as every other hotels but with a bowl of melted chocolate however no fruit to dip it in, which makes the 'chocolate fondue' a bit pointless. Bit disappointed by that.

Review 58:Good standard hotel, no standout but no real complaints either. Clean, good beds.

Review 59:We had a room facing onto a busy room but the double glazing failed to supress the road noise

Review 60:Warm welcome from Reception Staff who were very friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant excellent.

Review 61:Breakfast was great as a chocolate lover but a few more less sweet options would be nice. Pool was closed it would be nice if a reason was given

Review 62:Good location in walking distance from main railway station & bus stops to old centre outside. Chocolate shop was great idea as was the chocolate theme throughout.

Review 63:Not sure about the layout of businesses districts but the hotel seemed to be in an odd part of town May just be the way things are done in Italy I don't know but no disrespect intended to the hotel in any way

Review 64:Anyone who likes a good hotel and chocolate would love this place. A must do for anyone travelling through the area Thank you!

Review 65:It is not so close to the historical center. There are the city staircases though.

Review 66:The details in the room (every room is dedicated to a different type of chocolate, ours was fitness chocolate so it had a bike for work out!), the cleanliness, the interesting breakfast

Review 67:The distance.... 30 minutes walk up a big hill... from town was greater than anticipated

Review 68:We stayed at the Wtruscan Chocohotel for one night in July. It was comfortable and good value for money. There was a shuttle bus available in the evening, due to their being a jazz festival on in town. Good breakfast included.Good value for money.

Review 69:Location was far (30 mins upslope walk) from the centre and it is impossible to walk in July. But there were buses available so it was ok since price was value for money.

Review 70:Clean. firm mattress. Detachable shower head. Air conditioning. That is all I need and this hotel has exceeded my expectations.

Review 71:- the neighbourhood where it located is not so nice - value for money - far from the center (need to take bus)

Review 72:- Very friendly Staff - located outside the old city, but it has parking lot if you are with a car - very original (chocolate themes)

Review 105:Swimming pool on the roof. Parking place. Free bus to the city center.

Review 106:There were few problems ( bad smell, water in the bathroom) which the receptionist did not give any attention to.
